  1. The problem there is that you know its a 30 minute draw. I went into the April '92 AJ 8 man on the yearbook last night thinking maybe it goes ~35 minutes, and next thing I know its an hour and twelve minutes. Quite the Ignorance is the best sometimes.
  2. I could see them letting an angle with the divas, tag titles or just about any mid card program flounder for that reason. But Undertaker's mania match? Not buying it at all.
  3. This doesn't measure up to their previous singles matches but its still very good in its own right and feels like a big deal from the start. We get both Jumbo and Misawa countering their trademark moves early on. I think this match is a great example of what made All Japan in the era great -- even when they were working at a slow pace and not going for a classic, their selling was above and beyond what anyone else was doing and makes you feel like you're watching something special. Fun stretch run with Jumbo blocking the frog splash after Misawa elbows, Jumbo hitting his backdrop suplexes and power bomb, and even a tease of the submission with the facelock. Time expires with a 2 count on another backdrop. ***3/4
  4. We start hot just like Kawada vs. Kobashi, with Taue attacking Kawada in the aisle and following with a tope and nodowa on the floor. These two never disappoint, its really just a matter of how epic its going to be. Kawada's offense is naturally stiff and crisp, working to finish with the power bomb. Taue gets what feels like an upset after a pair of nodowas. ****
  5. Sherri was awesome here on the way to the ring & before the match, doing a great job making Michaels look like a big deal. HBK was going out of his way to bump for Piper, who was moving pretty spryly during his early shine segment. HBK eventually delivers a reverse crescent kick as we're not yet in the Superkick era. HBK nails Piper with Sherri's boot which brings out Bret Hart to give Piper the boot to even things up. The ref then DQs piper to further their Mania storyline. ***1/4
  6. Nikita gives an interview about going face to face with someone. Also some clips of Rude/Steamboat and of Valentine, who I totally forgot was in WCW. These pale in comparison to WWF's packages.
  7. Anderson is as methodical as ever, and these two work a great match with sound transitions, selling and comebacks, all in about 10 minutes. Paul E had to wait a bit too long for the spot where he took a bump, but you had two all time greats doing their thing here and that spot wasn't about to bring it down. Rude is in to interfere but Steamboat turns the tables and hangs him over the ropes. WCW continues putting out awesome TV in 1992. ***1/2
  8. This time Jim's team arrives in a limo, but once again those damn groupies chase it off before we can see them.
  9. Hollywood has the most awful glasses ever and will not waste his time beating 3 men in the SMW title tourney. I kind of like this alternate universe Holly.
  10. Tim Horner is not only a volunteer probation officer who dabbled as a jobber in the WWF and NWA, he can sing to Garth Brooks. I know this made him a babyface in the south in 1992, but that is not the case in New York in 2013.
  11. Highlights from another wild brawl in the feud of the year from the Mid South Coliseum. Lumberjacks have chairs, Lawler & Jarret have boards and eventually a chain & garbage can. After Lee throws powder the dogs attack the lumberjacks and Moses or Jimmy Valiant make their way out. More awesome.
  12. Embry is a bloody mess. Jimmy Valiant & Tom Pritchard interfere and eventually DWB is busted open as well before Tony Falk and Brian Christopher run in. You know how people scream about SEC football? Or Mark Henry screams that's what he does? I feel like everyone here should be able to scream "Memphis Wrestling!"
  13. We hear about the demandments of Hulkamania. Sid is nuts. So glad this made the set.
  14. Flair gives a press conference in an empty hall talking to everyone who believes Liz. Everyone before me hit -- this is great Flair, but perhaps not "Flair" Flair.
  15. Hogan & Piper definitely opted against the decaf before their promo. We're then treated to the Fink announcing that HBK has left the building. Perfect isn't out with Flair here, who gets his own entrance, as does Justice, while the faces are out together. Flair does his standard spots bumping for Hogan & Piper to a ridiculously hot crowd. The use of Whippleman's bag as a foreign object is awful. After that we get the Hulk Up and Flair eventually taking the fall for Hogan. Crowd and Flair really made this. **3/
  16. Cornette is still setting up the debut of his team. This time he's at Hooters, where the girls mob his charges before we can see them.
  17. Fun video hyping the Wild Bunch's debut with clips Korakuen vs. Ace & Kobashi.
  18. Bump, even if I can't contribute to Anthony.
  19. Seven days after debuting as a heel in SMW, Anthony is back in Memphis as a babyface against Eric Embry.
  20. Valiant looks like death warmed over. His look here might scare Hogan even today. That bad. Valiant kisses Christopher like some kind of cool, old hippie. Christopher puts up with it a bit but attacks him following a booty bump. I don't blame him. Valiant was annoying as hell here.
  21. Hogan's standard promo about training, prayers & vitamins. And Dahmer. Its not clear clear from this that he's gone after Mania, which surprised me. I would've expected the hard sell on that much sooner.
  22. Flair is reading WWF Magazine. On his yacht. In stone washed jeans. Classic. He and Perfect show more photos of Flair with Liz, and they wrap by replaying Savage's "untrue" promo. So much fun.
  23. Loved the ref pointing out his official's patch. Gilbert does a great job working the role of the babyface with the decked stacked against him, but I had a hard time getting into this. Not in love with the work of the others, it didn't come across as serious as it should and try as I may I just can't get into Barry Horowitz as a credible heel. **
  24. The Viper's under a bench and this is awful.
  25. Bruce Prichard talks about Eddie Gilbert's suspension. Ref Sam Esposito is sporting a nice burn on the eye from Gilbert's fireball.
