That was one hell of a tv match. Couple blown spots and the STFU's were the STFU's, but damn that was great.
  2. I don't think that's quite fair. Hogan built that house. Austin completely gutted it and redid all pipes, electrical and aesthetics. All that remained of Hogan's house were the structural elements.
  3. I haven't watched this in ages, but when I was younger I thought this was the funniest match ever put on.

While I'm not hot for seeing HHH do much of anything, I will not object to Lesnar bleeding, or smiling while admiring his blood.
  5. This place was a hell of a find for me. Literally none of my friends have had any interest going on about 15-20 years now, while I've only become a bigger fan and sought out more and new material as I've gotten older. Having a place like this that exposes me to tons of new/old footage through the yearbooks and other comps? While also having a community of folks talking about who simply do not troll? Awesome.
  6. I was tempted to go Thunderqueen as well but didn't for the reason you noted. Haven't seen enough of her singles work at this point to honestly put forth a vote.
  7. Great match as we're basically now fully locked into the era when All Japan at Budokan means a pair of excellent matches on top. There's a jump cut after the intros with Jumbo showing great fire and the gaijins with some strong heeling on him. After Jumbo & Taue play FIP for brief periods we get a truly fantastic finishing sequence with an Oklahoma Stempede and Jumbo hitting a Thesz Press for near falls and Taue delivering a tope to take out Gordy which allows Jumbo to hit a pair of backdrop suplexes for the title change. I know this wasn't complete but what we got was strong enough for me mto put it ahead of Misawa/Hansen. ****
  8. He's got the wins over Jumbo and with this one Misawa shows he's also a legit threat to the triple crown, which he takes in August. Misawa starts with a series of elbows, and after Hansen is forced to escalate with a DDT on the floor the story becomes the champion slowing things down and keeping the challenger grounded towards that end. Misawa keeps coming back with brutal elbows which just aren't enough to win the titles. The crowd pops big for the facelock and Misawa gets to withstand one lariat with a foot on the ropes for the near fall. The finishing stretch with a flurry of elbows followed by a couple lariats is awesome. Hansen retained but its pretty clear Misawa will be coming back for more. ***3/4
  9. Awesome ring entrances -- best on the year so far -- are followed by a ridiculous hot opening with everyone brawling all over the place and an MA2K dive onto Aguayo. Caras pinning Konnan with one finger to take the first fall was such a great heel move. I know Caras got no love as a worker in the WON during this period but man does he ever play the role to perfection. The second fall sees more of a heel beatdown until the faces turn the table with Rayo tearing up MA2K's mask. The finish with a big hook by Chicana was great, but I didn't quite follow why Konnan just stood there and watched it happen. ****1/4
  10. Solid finishing stretch with the champs working well with the bigs but not able to finish the job as Vader & Bigelow win with a double splash followed by a choke slam after a number of near falls.
  11. This went a bit long and was slow in spots, but they delivered enough at critical moments to keep things compelling. Hash of course delivers a bloody noce and the heat picks up when they start trading kicks, even if its Chono can't quite match the brutality. Conclusive victory for Shinya. ***1/4
  12. Pedicino looks like a substitute teacher. Talks about Buzz Sawyer and Tojo Yamamoto passing.
  13. Years back -- we're talking long before the DVD era, the guy I bought tapes from was kind of to put together an awesome Luger comp at my request. Started with a couple early Flair matches from Florida and culminated before he was given the title after Flair left. Really wish I still had that.
  14. Second for Hash vs. Choshu from the '96 G1. You can make the case for the G1 outings vs. Tenryu or Muto or even Takada at the Dome, but this was the one I saw that put me on the Hash bandwagon and remains a personal favorite to this day.
  15. I just watched all of the Hansen vs. Colon feud through the bullrope match, which felt like a hell of a climax until the post-match and Chicky Starr Sports Shop segment above, so we'll see what the last 2 matches have to offer. Loved the way it all built and the bullrope match itself was definitely awesome, though I still prefer Superbrawl 3 as the best of its kind.
  16. I'll second vs. Owen on Raw in 97.
  17. I haven't reread the thread to see if it was already laid out, but what are the specific criteria?
  18. I'll second vs. Sullivan, Bash '96. Far and away my favorite and most rewatchable even if vs. Angle at Rumble '03 is his best.
  19. Pretty awesome to wake up and find this kind of walk through. Will have to check it all out now.
  20. Awesome, any excuse to have more rasslin' talk is a good thing. I had zero interest in the AWA set and have nonetheless enjoyed some of these, even if they don't make me want to watch the set.
  21. Don't recall the date but I'll go with Meng vs. The Giant from Nitro. Pretty epic for a match of that length. A real clash of the titans.
  22. Not even worth dignifying that kind of nonsense with a response. Hyperbole is silly.
  23. Closing things out with a third vote for Vader vs. Sting at Superbrawl 3. Let's move on to Randy Savage, and I'll go Mania 7 vs. Warrior.
  24. Someone needs to 3rd the 10 man or Vader match so we can move on before Inoki brings in Cro Cop to kick this thread off of tv.
  25. What an absolute blast. February was an incredible month -- 8 four star plus matches by my count plus a few others just shy, and from all over the world. Throw in fun promos and angles from the territories and its just such a breeze.
