All boards are like that though. Older/established posters tend to give the impression they don't appreciate different opinions and/or dismiss claims that go against what they like. I've been a part of many forums and there's always at least 1 guy who complains people are close minded and people with different tastes are not welcomed (except TSC on the-coli but that's whole different experience). The whole point of the Greatest Ever project is to not have a "PWO representative" poll, but to have different ballots and opinions and see what kinda of consensus there is about great wrestlers. If Jimmy Jacobs is the PWO representative of modern indies (not true imo, but whatever) and you think that's laughable, then fight it and make cases for other people. Bring guys that think differently and send a ballots. The project will gain a lot more if you do something about it than if you just point it out and dismiss it. Joe (W2BTD) has tastes that are vastly different from what the majority of this board thinks it's "good wrestling" but he has no problem debating and defending his stance on wrestlers, same with Scott in the "Reaction" podcasts on PTBN. Who cares if some guys don't like your opinion/taste in wrestling? Hell, if there's one place were there are A LOT of people willing to change their opinions on wrestlers it's PWO. But some unfriendly replies are gonna keep guys from sending a ballot??? I guess sometimes people take the internet too seriously...

Great list. Would also add the Samu match from PPPW (date is 6/26/86). One of those matches were Flair just decides to put on a show in front of a half empty building so he can elevate the local star. Not a great match - bs ending - but an entertaining one that shows that Naitch didn't seem to take days off.

A guy I've always wanted to watch more because every time I see a match of his, I'm impressed with his work. Holy shit at that Phil Schneider post. Thanks man.

The most fun part about the show was seeing a member from another forum I go to pull up some funny ass signs. Even Cena acknowledged one

I died at that "9.99" song. Sounded like Sum41

aaaand the changed it to Kane vs Ambrose and Cena vs Orton
-
So they were announcing Ambrose vs Orton for tonight but they scrapped it and instead they are doing an Authority segment to "address the situation". Tonight might be one of those Vince scrapping everything at the last minute RAWs.

That looked like a Cena/Lesnar HIAC build up. Not sure how I feel about that.- 173 replies

That Orton/Jericho match kinda exposes Bray Wyatt. It seemed like Jericho can still have a good match and make the crowd care.- 173 replies

Definitely looking more interesting. https://twitter.com/WWE/status/512976420247961600 Dave on the F4W board: After seeing Sting tweet about it yesterday I lost all hope of it being anything NOT related to 2k15. Oh well.

A strong contender for n°1 for me. I've probably seen more Flair singles matches than any other wrestler and even though he did have his "formula" I was never bothered by it and didn't think it was worse than any other "formula" that almost every all-timer has. And as Parv posted in the Microscope thread, there are a lot of examples of Naitch going away from his usual style. His later years can play a part in him not getting n°1 but I don't see him dropping from the top 5. But then again, even though he did get much worse than others as he got older. I'm not sure a lot of those people had the body of work Flair had in his prime. I'd see the argument if people were on the same level before Ric started his decline/others adapted but I still haven't seen someone as good as Flair in his prime get better or adapt better as they got older. I'd put guys like Misawa or Kawada on Ric's prime level and they too got worse as they got older too. Yeah, Brody was one of his opponents I dreaded the most. I sat through a couple of very mediocre matches before finding the one were it finally clicked for them (still can't remember the date). Still, it's the best Brody singles match I've seen and it wasn't because of what Brody did.

I think the inconsistency of the 80's keeps him away from the top 10 but I'ma find a hard time finding twenty wrestlers better than Jumbo. As Ditch said, between those underwhelming matches there are all-time gems were Jumbo had a big part on making them great. And then you have grumpy Jumbo and everything comes together for him.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
Jmare007 replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
I've only seen a couple of Lucha matches in my life so I'm far from the best person to have an opinion on that UG vs Atlantis match. But I'm on the camp of "very good, emotional match", didn't seem like a classic to me. Kinda felt like Michaels vs Taker at WM 26 with the kickout-sell-move-kickout layout. But then again, I have no connection to both guys so I probably missed a very important piece to completely "get" what they were doing. The post-match was something else though. And damn, is commentary always that horrible in current Lucha? Not that they were saying anything wrong but the lack of real (or believable) emotion for such a big match was surprising. I was expecting something resembling to Eduardo Lama, Carlos Aguilar and Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. in Box Azteca. -
Thank god they decided to push more than 1 guy this time aro...oh wait.

I don't think I've ever watched a wrestler that entertained me as much as the Funker. Shit, I remember him completely saving a horrible legends battle royal at a PWG show when he started going at it against Piper. Doesn't matter the style or the age, Terry Funk always finds a way to make me interested in what he's doing. Top 5 easily for me.

Jun Akiyama vs KENTA - "Cross Road" 17.05.09 Akiyama's best performance in years up to that point. I was pleased that they didn't do any limb work and just focused on the striking. KENTA is really good against heavyweights (and the fans believe in him) and this is no exception, some great hard hitting action. Watching a grumpy Akiyama drop someone on his head and continuously working that area was highly entertaining. They brought some life to a dead place like Differ Ariake. Jun Akiyama vs Kensuke Sasaki - Global League 04.04.10 Well this was unexpected. A hot Korakuen crowd gladly welcomes this hard hitting match that has a surprisingly big amount of technical wrestling and not a lot of bomb throwing. Go Shiozaki vs Jun Akiyama - "PRO-WRESTLING NOAH ANNIVERSARY" 06.08.2011 As with every NOAH title match, your enjoyment will depend on the early to middle part of the match and if you can be entertained by it or keep interest on what they are doing. Akiyama busting Go hard way with a flying knee from the apron and working the injury gave the match the touch it needed for me to be invested in Go's comeback and his continuous struggle to prove he is no longer a "young gun". They had a stupid top rope stop were I don't know what they were trying to do but besides that, this was a solid, hard fought battle. And hey, Differ Ariake didn't suck for once.

1.- Any Lucha 2.- Europe 3.- Some pre 80's stuff

I'll see if I can get people from south american forums to participates and from other places like the-coli or wrestlingforum.

The best babyface in the business for like 5-6 years. He'll be in the top 100 for sure.
-
Yeah, when he was doing the whole "weak link" angle he was destroying people, specially in tags. And in his heel run on SD! he was dominating a dude like the Big Show and making it seem believable. He's been the super underdog for what? 6-7 months? (not counting his time off) That ain't that long.
-
Hopefully it's not just something related to Slam City or 2k15...
-
Off the top of my head he's a lock in the top 15 and may end up much higher once I start really thinking about it and we have 2 more years of him as a WWE top guy. Really interested on reading this board's opinion on him once people start revisiting his indy days, specially 05' to 08'. Not sure how many people in here saw him in the 2008 16 Carat Gold Tournament but what Bryan does in those three days against Quackenbush, Marufuji, Hero and Bad Bones is something to behold. Specially considering how he was working at the time. Dude just said fuck the beloved indy king schtick, went full heel and my god. Those German fans can be annoying as shit but Danielson is too damn good and makes it work.
