Some interesting tidbits from WOR: -Vince and Nick Khan signed new contracts not long ago. Vince's has important language in case he's fired (making it almost impossible for him to get canned). -Dave said all the allegations against Vince have been taken care of, with all the accusers getting paid. "There's nobody else that's gonna come out of the woodwork because that's what the (Board) investigation was all about" was a direct quote from Meltzer.

I think Bubba is talking about Okada vs Naito in 2018, when Naito had already went through 24-30 months of a very hot "rebellious" heel run and got the title shot 1 year later than he should've gotten it. Naito won the G-1 and everyone was certain he would win at WK...but he lost, Okada got his historic title reign and ended up losing to Omega. The Naito win took 2 more years and three other people got the IWGP title before him in that time. When he won in 2020 it was a feel good moment but it felt too late, as by point Ibushi was the one that was the hottest in the promotion (and it took 1 more year for him to get the belt). The happy accident of Naito being squandered by Gedo was Kenny Omega becoming a massive draw. Maybe Sami is the Kenny in this Reigns/Cody analogy?

WWE TV 04/03 - 04/09 Adrenaline in my soul, Roman Reigns pinned Cody Rhodes
Jmare007 replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Jay White would make no sense but I can't help but think it's him when the word "mystery partner" shows up. -
From Cokeboy to Vincente Maldonado, what a turnaround.
-
Holy shit LMAO at Vince
-
I laughed hard at the response Roman (and Paul) gave Hausman after that question about Endeavor possibly buying WWE
-
Yeah, that Snoop save was impressive as shit. He did everything right in a split second. BTW, what is the Tribal Chief gonna do to the Usos? mofos couldn't even do their interference right. Puerto Rico gotta be Cody vs Solo, no?
-
HOLY FUCK ROMAN WON @KawadaSmileI know at this point you already out partying in the beach but the Tribal Chief overcame booking 101 and a match structure designed for him to lose. He is truly undeniable. The second half of the match was peak WWE main event style. Loved how they built to every single nearfall they had.

I skipped through most of the HIAC, the highspots were cool though.

This may be my Charlotte hatred speaking but I thought Bianca vs Asuka was better than yersterday's title match. I'm a sucker for Bianca powering through stuff and how they worked that final sequence was fucking awesome.

Triple threat was fanfuckingtastic. Best triple threat ever?

Watching on a delay like yesterday. That opener was cool as hell, watching Brock having fun playing a babyface in peril and doing comebacks was dope.
-
And what a ticking clock of a PR nightmare either because of one of them getting into legal issues due to horrible behavior or one of them talking trash about the other company and starting a dumb internal fight.

Not that long ago Kevin Owens was thinking about staying in WWE or going with his friends to AEW. He stayed and got two consecutive Wrestlemania main events. In one he had a match most people thought would never happen against one of his idols in Stone GOAT and this year he gets to be with his brother in wrestling and be part of another really special moment. Safe to say dude made the best decision in his professional life.

Watched with a delay and skipped around some of the matches. Agreed that this has to be the most satisfying WM ever. Even Theory winning was the right call. I marked like a mofo for the El Generico shout out and Steenerico using PWG gear. Match was a little too kick out focused for my liking (as in, it was the only thing that held the match together) but it's Wrestlemania and like 10 months of build up so I can't say it wasn't warranted. Rhea winning made me really happy, she's ready for a big run. And Dom was fucking awesome as a heel. His sis wanting to slap the shit out of him after he threw that drink was funny as hell The tag team spotfest was straight out of Reseda.

I think the point was Mox saying Punk was jumping on his bad leg. As in, putting his weight in the thing that's supposed to be hurt. To be honest I didn't make anything out of Mox's words because I also thought he meant Punk was limping around backstage. But then Meltz and Alvarez said it was "hopping around on his bad leg".
-
Mox made a snide comment about Punk hopping around in one leg backstage (and Meltzer made it sound like it was the hurt leg). Which aligns with DMJ's theory that at least to Mox, Punk wasn't hurt enough to not do the squash/angle he wanted to run with him.

I'm very sorry for Adam Cole fans but I gotta say, I'm really happy he's next in line for Jericho to spend the next 2-4 months with. Automatic skip and don't got to worry about a wrestler I'm fond of wasting time with the JAS So do we get a 4 vs 4 Elite vs BCC at DoN? Anarchy in the Arena II? (for the love of Terry Funk, someone make Danielson wear a safety helmet) or can we get Golden Elite vs BCC + Punk so the internet explodes in a blaze of fuckery lol.
-
I highly doubt he'd refuse to work with anyone in AEW but his hatred towards social media has probably gotten stronger in the last year, lol. It's kinda curious how backstage problems seem to get out in the open when Bryan is not on the road with the company (early 2022 post Hangman feud, out two months after the concussions at DoN and then now).

My thing isn't about the "risk" of Mox being a free agent but him having the position and mindset of "I'm making Tony a favor here". Which is pretty evident if you listening to that first part of the Renee podcast. TK gives him the belt and it feels like he can't say no to the guy because well, he's the one keeping the company afloat while every other top guy is injured and he's doing it when he doesn't even have to (because he's not contractually obligated to do anything). All this during a time were there was already a lot of tension in the locker room around Punk because the Cabana stuff was already a gossip that was making some wrestlers resent dude. And now you are trying to rush him back so you can go for a really weird angle Mox wants to run. It's just a mess no matter how you look at it. And even though circumstances were very different. Tony had already done the "give the belt to a star that's not under contract" with Cody months prior. That one didn't work out and made a weird mess out of the TNT division at the time too.
-
Not exactly right. Tony wanted to rush Punk to do the job for Mox, who wasn't under contract, for a Dynamite episode. I'm not sure when Mox signed his new deal so I don't know if he was still a free agent by All Out. Still, no wonder Tony went with his "Rocky III" (I hate calling it that because it really is nothing like that movie) idea. Mox had all the leverage in that situation.

Mox talked about some of the drama in his latest appearance on Renee's podcast. Excerpts from cagesideseats Punk told his side of that story on Instagram. Mox doesn't do much social media, but his wife has a pretty popular podcast. So he gave his accounting of events to her, as the guest on a new The Sessions with Renee Paquette. It's a very Moxley response to the situation: "...It’s fucking annoying. Just because somebody said some stupid shit on social media, that’s not news, but it is and become a thing. I don’t want to get dragged into this dumb shit. I could fucking unload on a lot of fucking people right now. When I start getting dragged into this shit, it tempts me to do that, but I'm not going to fucking sink to that level." "I will say this, I'm going to give you a tidbit of information, from my point of view. The entire summer, I was not under contract — no contract. Free agent. I was at SummerSlam weekend wrestling El Desperado and shit. I could have walked into SummerSlam that night with the AEW belt, had I been so inclined. Nobody knew that because I don't put my shit out there in the world and let everybody know everything about my business. I was not under contract. "The reason being, if you're curious, because I got out of rehab, my contract was coming up, they extended it for the time that I missed — cool. I'm glad they did because I didn't want to feel like I owed them anything. They extended it, it was coming up, they were talking to me about it. The last thing I wanted to do when I first got out of rehab, because all they were telling me was — logic would tell you — don't go back to wrestling because you're going to fall into the same old habits. I wanted to ease back into it and see what life was like on the other side. The last thing I wanted to do was hurry up and sign a big long-term commitment. What if shit started going off the rails?" In general, sober Mox loved wrestling and working with friends like Bryan Danielson & William Regal helped him decide to sign another contract with Tony Khan. But at the time Punk was coming back from broken foot, Mox wasn't legally obligated to do anything for AEW. "That being said, during this time period, the night what's his dick [CM Punk] is talking about, in Minneapolis, the night he came back and was hopping around on one foot, bumping around after me and [Chris] Jericho wrestled. We're talking later about stuff — keep in mind, at this time, this is my whole point — I basically don't work there, for all intents and purposes. Tony is not my boss. I don't have to be in this room. I don't have to do shit. Even me being in this room and offering and agreeing to a storyline that puts you over at the PPV, if anything, I'm bending over backward for Tony and for this dude and the company and everybody. I didn't have to. I didn't have to do shit. If anything, I was bending over backward. That's it. It's not even controversial." His new contract includes coaching and mentoring the roster, and Mox seems to realize he has his work cut out for him there. "I don't complain, I see the good in everything and I'm having so much fun and life is good. I don't want any negative bullshit. I will say this, and I hate to say it because I don't think I've ever said anything even remotely negative about AEW, but I will say this. As an observer, I spent eight years on the indies, a couple years in WWE developmental, eight years in WWE — I have never seen so much bullshit drama in one place in my entire fucking life. "I hate to say that. I don't know if it's the age of social media, shit gets blown out of proportion. One person types one stupid drunk tweet and all of a sudden it's all anybody wants to talk about." It's not all bad, though. And it sounds like there are other drama-resistant folks Coach Moxley is looking forward to working with: "Let me be clear, the vast majority of people there don't cause any bullshit, but they're getting sucked down into the shit like everybody else, into the muck. There are plenty of people who just want to get better and perform and just do this job. I'm not an official coach, I don't ever want to be a producer, an official producer. I don't want to wear a headset and write stuff down. I like being a coach, but I'm not an official coach. I can coach people that I think are worth it. I'll give time to anybody." I get why TK gave Mox the belt at the time with all the injuries the roster had, but considering his free agent situation and the leverage he had because of it, he should have gone with someone else. I guess learning on the job while in the middle of a wrestling war is nor a good combination.

I mean yeah, even at the time a lot of people were criticizing Tony for going with Mox's idea. Sure, we didn't know they wanted to do it sooner and were rushing Punk back, but from late August and until Full Gear, there were a lot of chatter about Tony just going with whatever idea Mox and Jericho had, and how a lot of them were either bad or not worth doing and he just went with them anyway. In this case is even worse because you were rushing your n°1 guy and couldn't come up with anything else once it was clear he wasn't getting back when you wanted??

That whole build to All Out was bad. Champion losing quick and then regains the belt ASAP does not a Rocky III make.
