Not exactly right. Tony wanted to rush Punk to do the job for Mox, who wasn't under contract, for a Dynamite episode. I'm not sure when Mox signed his new deal so I don't know if he was still a free agent by All Out. Still, no wonder Tony went with his "Rocky III" (I hate calling it that because it really is nothing like that movie) idea. Mox had all the leverage in that situation.

Mox talked about some of the drama in his latest appearance on Renee's podcast. Excerpts from cagesideseats Punk told his side of that story on Instagram. Mox doesn't do much social media, but his wife has a pretty popular podcast. So he gave his accounting of events to her, as the guest on a new The Sessions with Renee Paquette. It's a very Moxley response to the situation: "...It’s fucking annoying. Just because somebody said some stupid shit on social media, that’s not news, but it is and become a thing. I don’t want to get dragged into this dumb shit. I could fucking unload on a lot of fucking people right now. When I start getting dragged into this shit, it tempts me to do that, but I'm not going to fucking sink to that level." "I will say this, I'm going to give you a tidbit of information, from my point of view. The entire summer, I was not under contract — no contract. Free agent. I was at SummerSlam weekend wrestling El Desperado and shit. I could have walked into SummerSlam that night with the AEW belt, had I been so inclined. Nobody knew that because I don't put my shit out there in the world and let everybody know everything about my business. I was not under contract. "The reason being, if you're curious, because I got out of rehab, my contract was coming up, they extended it for the time that I missed — cool. I'm glad they did because I didn't want to feel like I owed them anything. They extended it, it was coming up, they were talking to me about it. The last thing I wanted to do when I first got out of rehab, because all they were telling me was — logic would tell you — don't go back to wrestling because you're going to fall into the same old habits. I wanted to ease back into it and see what life was like on the other side. The last thing I wanted to do was hurry up and sign a big long-term commitment. What if shit started going off the rails?" In general, sober Mox loved wrestling and working with friends like Bryan Danielson & William Regal helped him decide to sign another contract with Tony Khan. But at the time Punk was coming back from broken foot, Mox wasn't legally obligated to do anything for AEW. "That being said, during this time period, the night what's his dick [CM Punk] is talking about, in Minneapolis, the night he came back and was hopping around on one foot, bumping around after me and [Chris] Jericho wrestled. We're talking later about stuff — keep in mind, at this time, this is my whole point — I basically don't work there, for all intents and purposes. Tony is not my boss. I don't have to be in this room. I don't have to do shit. Even me being in this room and offering and agreeing to a storyline that puts you over at the PPV, if anything, I'm bending over backward for Tony and for this dude and the company and everybody. I didn't have to. I didn't have to do shit. If anything, I was bending over backward. That's it. It's not even controversial." His new contract includes coaching and mentoring the roster, and Mox seems to realize he has his work cut out for him there. "I don't complain, I see the good in everything and I'm having so much fun and life is good. I don't want any negative bullshit. I will say this, and I hate to say it because I don't think I've ever said anything even remotely negative about AEW, but I will say this. As an observer, I spent eight years on the indies, a couple years in WWE developmental, eight years in WWE — I have never seen so much bullshit drama in one place in my entire fucking life. "I hate to say that. I don't know if it's the age of social media, shit gets blown out of proportion. One person types one stupid drunk tweet and all of a sudden it's all anybody wants to talk about." It's not all bad, though. And it sounds like there are other drama-resistant folks Coach Moxley is looking forward to working with: "Let me be clear, the vast majority of people there don't cause any bullshit, but they're getting sucked down into the shit like everybody else, into the muck. There are plenty of people who just want to get better and perform and just do this job. I'm not an official coach, I don't ever want to be a producer, an official producer. I don't want to wear a headset and write stuff down. I like being a coach, but I'm not an official coach. I can coach people that I think are worth it. I'll give time to anybody." I get why TK gave Mox the belt at the time with all the injuries the roster had, but considering his free agent situation and the leverage he had because of it, he should have gone with someone else. I guess learning on the job while in the middle of a wrestling war is nor a good combination.

I mean yeah, even at the time a lot of people were criticizing Tony for going with Mox's idea. Sure, we didn't know they wanted to do it sooner and were rushing Punk back, but from late August and until Full Gear, there were a lot of chatter about Tony just going with whatever idea Mox and Jericho had, and how a lot of them were either bad or not worth doing and he just went with them anyway. In this case is even worse because you were rushing your n°1 guy and couldn't come up with anything else once it was clear he wasn't getting back when you wanted??

That whole build to All Out was bad. Champion losing quick and then regains the belt ASAP does not a Rocky III make.

I thought that Punk post was fake. Couldn't imagine him doing that, let alone delete if he actually ended up posting it. It was also a really long post and very detailed. Has it been confirmed it was real? wow.

Omega vs Vikingo was a big success ratings wise. I had my doubts but it seems Kenny's still got it with fans and they are just less interested in The Elite as a whole.
-
Just checked the main event and those last 10 minute were exactly what I wanted (well, Kenny being very close to dying by landing on his neck wasn't expected but it seemed he came out of it OK). The ending angle did nothing for me but I've never been the audience of this Hangman/Elite story. Has Mox explained why he's so hell bent on beating up The Elite though? legit question.

This shit is insane! lmao.

Under-the-radar wrestling book recommendations
Jmare007 replied to Cross Face Chicken Wing's topic in Pro Wrestling
Does anyone know anything about this book? Sounds very interesting and I had no idea it was coming (comes out March 28th) -
Vikingo vs Omega on Dynamite next week, gonna have to check that one out.

double post
-
Yeah last 2 PPVs have been a 1 match show in terms of promotion (Mox vs MJF & Dragon vs MJF) and both did better than what the build up deserved, which Is a good sign for Max drawing wise. Hopefully he finally gets some help in terms of week to week TV.
-
Yeah, Omega vs Ospray II would make more sense if it means a rubber match in Japan. But Idk, it seemed to me they were building Will to wrestle for the IWGP title and I'm not sure a third Omega match fits in there. If there's only gonna be 2 matches, I truly wonder if Gedo will let TK book it in North America instead of keeping it for himself in Japan. Regarding Danielson, I've deluded myself into thinking this hiatus is for him to spend time with his family before leaving for a month for the G-1. And in that scenario the ZSJ could happen in there and maybe he gets Okada or Shibata at FD.
-
Only 4 weeks of TV to build up Forbidden Door again, weird. I guess they could start building before Double or Nothing but this is TK we are talking about, lol. Omega better have a big match up for this. I wonder how long Danielson's hiatus will be too, there's no way he's missing this PPV again if he's healthy.

Any traction on this rumor?
-
That's even worse then because that means he fucking sucks when it comes to that part of creating angles/feuds.
-
The main news about Vince being backstage is that he's rocking a mustache (according to PWInsider). We need a picture.
-
My thing is, if MJF is willing to do that, then don't act surprised when a pissed off fan claps back and all hell breaks loose in the future. That's the kind of thing those antics are looking for anyways, to have that kind of "heat", so either stop it right there or live with the consequences. I think AEW did enough with that kid so that people can leave it alone though, it wasn't a fireable offense in my book.
-
After listening to TK in the media scrum about how he books AEW and ROH, it confirmed a lot of what everyone has said about him for a long time. It seems the vast majority of what holds a feud together depends mostly on the wrestlers involved coming up with stuff and TK is mostly concerned about who he pairs up with who (how that might work for ratings/buys) and then letting shit sink or swim, didn't sound like he worries much about the hows and whys of an angle. Considering he's never getting booking help, I'm just gonna wait for cards to be announced before every show to see if I watch or not because expecting compelling TV that goes beyond matches will never happen in AEW (unless some wrestler(s) discovers a way to it by themselves).
-
Well, he couldn't put him more over than that. I thought it was weird that the Danielson didn't try to kick his fucking head in as a lead up to that finish. But alas, set him free Tony, let him work Japan a couple of months!

THE SUCKER KICKED OUT Is an all time call by Tony
-
I feel like that's the kind of spot commentary should know about (either by the wrestlers or Tony) so whoever is watching/listening don't get confused.
-
Welp, they fucked up in that DQ call.
