I guess that interview is useful for someone that hasn't followed the drama in the last 10 months but for everyone else, it didn't say anything worth noting, lol. Biggest reveal was confirming the report about Punk not wanting to work DoN after the Page promo and that he was uneasy wrestling with him at the PPV (was that SRS/Fightfull or WON/Dave?) and the lawyer stuff between him and The Elite.

It's hilarious how they are playing right in the hands of Punk and Tony. They want people talking about Punk prior to Collision's debut. Now, they might be "right" in the sense that some talent might not like the interview or the promotional tactic of doing a worked shoot on ESPN as publicity but I think we all know what this is all about. I'm more intrigued if this thing makes any difference for Coliision, my guess is not but at least we'll have fun reading fans (and apparently reporters too) losing their shit at whatever Punk was allowed to say to ESPN.

Controversy creates ratings (?)

I was about to say they didn't do a good job promoting Forbidden Door's two main matches but then that ending happened and I had to shut the hell up. I guess Dragon vs Okada could've used a video package like they did for Punk and Collision but enough big stuff happened in the main event to cover for it.

July 4th at Korakuen Hall Jun Kasai & El Desperado vs Jon Moxley & Homicide. Now that's a match I never thought I'd ever see, let alone in a New Japan ring. Is this Kasai's first match in NJPW? I had so search in Cagematch and didn't find any.

I feel a big part of MJF's character if being incredible insecure about his status as a wrestler. He hates he's not mentioned in the "best wrestler in the world" combo and any media appearance he has, he makes it a point to mention how great he is in the ring (and he's been doing it in every media scrum post PPV since at least the Darby match 2 years ago). I think there's still a big portion of the fanbase that wont give him much props for his matches so he continues to hammer home the point by now cutting promos about him having "the best *insert gimmick* match ever". And I think it works because AEW fans seem annoyed by it and react accordingly.

So the Collision Main Event gonna end up with a wild brawl once the Gunns interfere and Ricky makes the save?
-
I had no clue New Japan had a dude like Yota Tsuji under their sleeve :leon: Was he a standout during his excursion to Rev Pro or is he another example of CMLL turning someone into a potential star after working in Mexico?

Shocked Claudio didn't get in too, I guess Tony needs him for the BCC angles now that he's resting Danielson as a mouth piece of the group who only wrestles on PPV. (the ROH stuff was easier to handle considering he could've taped everything in advance). Eddie is gonna crush it in the G1. I just hope he doesn't get in a stupid argument or fight backstage that costs him future bookings because I'm positive he will get a lot of offers an d ideas to keep him there after the tournament.

Having a hard time remembering a PPV with 2 top matches as strong as those two. Maybe Summerslam 08? Taker vs Edge feels interior to both Danielson/Okada and Omega/Ospreay though, it had HIAC and a culmination of a successful feud but I think the anticipation for both FD matchups is gonna be something we haven't seen in a long ass time. Also, Eddie in the G1!

Settle the fuck down I was talking about Dave and Alvarez, not you. I'm not saying they were concern trolling, I'm saying it's such an non issue like the example I gave
-
lmao, putting any real thought on how Bandido looked for someone that doesn't know Chespirito is like the concern trolling people made when Kenny "gave too much offense" to Alan Angels.
-
Ospreay, Takeshita and I'm not sure who could be a third member. After Don's promo it seemed to me Okada will be the first to show up. Would be cool if both him and Ibushi end up in the FD card. Kenny did say in his off camera promo that he had a "couple" of friends outside the company.
-
I can see no one else is watching but I'll end the multi posts by saying Callis' heat is something that's not easy to get, Tony better take full advantage of it.
-
Punk's announcement coming from a non-blinking Tony Khan announcement and nothing else happening was kinda underwhelming. Punk got a more positive reaction than I expected, there were boos but the cheers were way bigger.
-
Bandido has won a lifetime stan in me with that tribute to ChaupulĂn
-
That's true, that's probably the only real "money match" MJF has as champ besides the Punk one. But man, it does not look like kayfabe wise, Kenny will be in a position to challenge Max until at least Full Gear and I'm not sure this title reign is gonna be that long.
-
Well, they can still name Roman/Solo tag team the HRE.
-
I get it in theory but maybe dude is made out of glass at this point of his career. You really want another tournament to crown an Interim Champ that will eventually become the regular Champ? I would wait and see how Punk does after All In and All Out before putting him in that mix.
-
I think Darby was able to establish himself as a legit option for main event programs and the other two got kinda exposed as "not there" or "not there yet". But being able to have that kinda of evidence made that program worth it, imo. At the same time, I totally understand the frustration for it. There's only 4-5 PPV title programs each year and using one of those as a test drive wont please everyone.
-
At this point, who "should" take the title from MJF: Ricky or Darby (with a side headlock takeover)?
-
Considering how the feud went, I don't buy the idea of giving them the main event making any difference whatsoever to the status of any of the three challengers (and MJF's is kinda set already in that regard after Revolution). They also were the semi main event, which didn't make the title match look 2nd rate or less important, imo, so I don't see anything wrong with the card placement of the last two matches.
-
Tony better save Ibushi's debut for a crowd that gonna lose it's shit for it.
-
Mox's kicks to the head are offensively bad, he gotta stop doing them,
-
I think we all thought that dude was wearing blackface, is it a mask? Still, they all gotta go up there and fuck up that band.
