  3. Ditch ought to have them all. He sometimes sent me copies of the final spreadsheets because I helped him set up the ballots. I'll post what I have, but it may not be comprehensive.
  4. You forgot to multiple by ten. If they had 8 million annual subscribers at $10/month, they'd be getting 960M. They're hoping to get at least $96M this year from the Network (800k subscribers).
  5. In Robert Routh's time machine back to 1999.
  6. Latest thing today was the Forbes' piece about Vince McMahon/WWE: http://www.forbes.com/sites/msolomon/2014/03/26/vince-mcmahons-over-the-top-move-why-the-billionaire-ceo-is-betting-big-on-the-new-wwe-network/ I wrote about my host of comments/corrections on my blog: http://indeedwrestling.blogspot.com/2014/03/fact-checking-forbes-piece-on-vince.html (they don't separate int'l/domestic, dish network is carrying WM, emerging market numbers are wacky, robert routh's 6-8 million subscriber numbers seem wild, etc.) Regarding TV Rights fees: That's the second time I've heard specific numbers for what they would have received. The "Vince walked away" story was covered by the LA Times back in January.
  7. I definitely would agree that WWE seems to be releasing less guys. Think about guys like Big Zeke or Evan Bourne (or JTG) that are still hanging around despite being off TV for ages. I haven't run the numbers to confirm, but that's certainly my impression.
  8. This week we'll have Bix join the show. We'll talk Discrimination Lawsuits, Ultimate Warrior Shenanigans, St. Louis payoffs, WCW Payroll and more. It'll be Saturday (3/29) at 1 PM EST/Noon Central for at least one hour (hopefully two if people are calling in and we still have stuff to talk about!) I think we can have multiple callers via BlogTalkRadio, so we'll be able to take some callers too. Looking forward to the show!
  9. Last week's Wrestling Observer mentions the idea of WGN as a bidder: It's an interesting idea but I just don't think WWE would take the risk unless WGN was pouring money into a truck at far above the competitor's rates.
  10. Yeah, I've bought issues through the website before. You can view it online as well as download a big ol' PDF.
  11. Great show went two hours: Wow. TWO HOURS of ‪#‎Wrestlenomics‬ radio including 5 callers (thanks Ken Hesser, Joe Gagne, Pete Thornton, David Parker and Ryan Clingman) from all around the civilized world (and New Jersey). We talked WWE Rookie analysis, Worst Feuds, TV Negotiations, John Cena's LIES~! and Villano payroll. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/indeedwrestling/2014/03/22/rookies-mookies-and-wookies Hope to do it again next week!
  12. You're right on with those points! The pictures were added by my editor after the fact. I emailed him to explain that TWC and TW are different companies and asked him to update the Fox with a more general blurb including points about EPL and Big Ten. We'll see if anything happens with that. Sadly, after it gets "published", I can't adjust it anymore.
  13. This morning, I wrote up my thoughts on the five alleged contenders for the WWE TV contract (NBCU, Viacom, Fox, AMC and Turner) in this new WhatCulture article: http://whatculture.com/wwe/wwe-analysing-5-networks-wwe-negotiating-tv-rights.php
  14. I do like the idea of quietly pulling Wrestlemania off the Network and back to PPV by next year. It basically generates an increase in overall revenue without changing the monthly price.
  15. Someone on Bloomberg had a similar idea: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-03-16/wwe-free-for-all-awaits-if-found-sets-sale-real-m-a.html Includes some Analyst quotes.
  16. Maybe on a minor level but WrestleMania basically is the top seller each year next t crazy popular compilation sets.
  17. In my WhatCulture piece about hypothetically who'd want to buy WWE if they somehow were able to be acquired (Vince controls class B shares so hostile takeover is impossible) I threw in a couple charts about what stations are owned by each : http://whatculture.com/wwe/5-companies-want-buy-wwe.php
  18. Episode Two of #wrestlenomics radio is done. This was a spur-of-the-moment live call-in show where I talked about WWE Network, WWE Financials, WWE TV Negotations, ideas for possible WWE suitors, ways to keep the WWE stock strong, my interaction with investment banks/hedge funds asking about WWE and lots more. It was like a sprint so I talked and talked and talked and had David Parker on and talked and talked and then hung up. Hopefully, there's some good content in there and it's not so frantic that it's unlistenable. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/indeedwrestling/2014/03/15/the-beginning-of-something-special link to latest articles at http://www.tinyurl.com/wrestlenomics http://www.blogtalkradio.com/indeedwrestling/2014/03/15/the-beginning-of-something-special.mp3
  19. This past weekend, I talked with Alex Goff for 45 minutes on the OWW (www.onlineworldofwrestling.com) podcast. The mp3 is up at https://www.clickwrestle.com/sites/default/files/mp3s/oww_radio_215_Chris%20Harrington.mp3 I sound like I'm underwater, but we had a pretty good chat about the WWE Network, the future of streaming media and other tidbits. https://www.clickwrestle.com/content/podcast-episode/oww-radio-christopher-harrington
  20. I've taken to just using the main event listed by the ProWrestlingHistory spreadsheet: http://prowrestlinghistory.com/supercards/eventinfo.xls
  21. I looked at 248 WWE/WWF PPVs (excluding Wrestlemania) that I had buy estimates/star ratings averages for. Here I've broken them into 25 nearly equally sized groups: 3.18 to 3.63 star average: 288,009 buys (10 PPVs) 2.95 to 3.09 star average: 331,667 buys (10 PPVs) 2.82 to 2.95 star average: 308,667 buys (10 PPVs) 2.70 to 2.80 star average: 259,407 buys (10 PPVs) 2.63 to 2.70 star average: 276,381 buys (10 PPVs) 2.56 to 2.63 star average: 283,600 buys (10 PPVs) 2.50 to 2.54 star average: 325,637 buys (10 PPVs) 2.46 to 2.50 star average: 323,600 buys (10 PPVs) 2.39 to 2.46 star average: 377,288 buys (10 PPVs) 2.34 to 2.39 star average: 271,862 buys (10 PPVs) 2.31 to 2.34 star average: 305,000 buys (10 PPVs) 2.25 to 2.31 star average: 343,368 buys (10 PPVs) 2.21 to 2.25 star average: 353,252 buys (10 PPVs) 2.15 to 2.21 star average: 278,164 buys (10 PPVs) 2.08 to 2.14 star average: 316,723 buys (10 PPVs) 2.04 to 2.08 star average: 276,675 buys (10 PPVs) 1.94 to 2.03 star average: 226,000 buys (10 PPVs) 1.85 to 1.93 star average: 388,555 buys (10 PPVs) 1.79 to 1.85 star average: 331,743 buys (10 PPVs) 1.72 to 1.78 star average: 277,218 buys (10 PPVs) 1.61 to 1.69 star average: 251,773 buys (10 PPVs) 1.46 to 1.57 star average: 242,917 buys (10 PPVs) 1.21 to 1.43 star average: 283,808 buys (10 PPVs) 1.03 to 1.21 star average: 353,544 buys (9 PPVs) 0.71 to 1.03 star average: 314,951 buys (9 PPVs) There's really no correlation that I can see. (r-squared on almost any group I did was basically zero.)
  22. In terms of original material, there's everything Dave written in the Observer. Almost every issue in the past few months has talked about the WWE Network and/or the WWE Finances. Here's some other original articles that I've relied on heavily for new information. While almost daily I look for new material, and I'm still discovering articles that I've missed (such as the AdAgeone) that provide good insight on the chasm between TV/Advertising executives and WWE/Investors. 23. I had a twitter exchange with an analyst yesterday that I'll share here:
  24. Thanks for posting my article John. I'm supposed to talk to another investor this afternoon about WWE so I will be curious whether they can give me some insight on why they think the stock has ballooned in recent months - particularly if there was any chatter in the investor channels that I haven't seen. If anyone cares, here's all the articles I've written in the past three weeks about the WWE Network and/or WWE Financials and/or WWE Stock price: 2/20/2014 WhatCulture: 10 Controversies of the WWE Network 2/23/2014 F4W/WO: 2013 WWE Financials Examined Wrestlenomics-style 2/24/2014 Voices of Wrestling: WWE 2013 & PPV Breakdown 2/25/2014 Voices of Wrestling: WWE Network Launch Day Estimation 2/27/2014 WhatCulture: WWE Network Launch: All your Key Questions Answered 3/03/2014 F4W/WO: WWE Network 7 Days Later 3/05/2014 Whatculture: 14 WWE Network Risks That WWE Worries About 3/05/2014 Whatculture: WWE’s Current 15 Year Stock High Is Tied To Their Domestic TV Future 3/07/2014 Voices of Wrestling: The Mystery of the Soaring Stock Price 3/10/2014 Whatculture: 10 Ways WWE Can Maintain Their Current Business Success
  25. In recent years, home entertainment revenues have declined as a result of several factors, including consumers shifting to digital formats, subscription rental services and discount rental kiosks; general domestic and international economic conditions; increasing competition for consumer discretionary time and spending; piracy; and the maturation of the standard definition DVD format. In response to these declines, WWE is customizing its content and promotion to make the product more compelling for consumers. 2008: WrestleMania XXIV, which shipped approximately 326,000 gross units. 2007: WrestleMania XXIII, which shipped approximately 367,000 gross units. T2006: WrestleMania XXII, which shipped approximately 425,000 gross units, representing our largest selling DVD release in our history. FY2006: WrestleMania 21 was our best-selling DVD of all-time. Additionally, WrestleMania: The Complete Anthology box set, a release including the first 21 years of WrestleMania with a $279.95 suggested retail price, and sets of the WrestleMania Anthology broken into 5 year series, accounted for $7.2 million of total gross domestic revenues. FY2005: The Rise & Fall of ECW, which chronicled the history of Extreme Championship Wrestling, and Hard Knocks: The Chris Benoit Story. FY2004: The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection & The Monday Night War & WrestleMania XX. These three titles sold a total of approximately 335,000 units in fiscal 2004. In addition, we gained distribution in one large retailer in 2004, thereby increasing sales.
