  1. We are back with another podcast taking a look at wrestling past and present. Wrestling with a Generation Gap 14 is all video for our old school first hour. This time we go to the crown jewel of the NWA, St. Louis. Along the way we listen to Joe Garagiola, the goofiest commentator of all time, bash Nikolai, Brody and a green as grass Al Perez. There's gushing too as Nick falls in love with Jerry Blackwell to the extent of wanting to be his gimmicked son some day! Dave realizes he loves Kevin Von Erich almost as much as David, Billy Robinson debuts to huge applause and an awesome tag match main! That segues to The American Alpha vs. the Revival from NXT as Rob thinks Jason Jordon is Kurt Angle Jr. then learns WWE is playing that exact angle! Feedback, comments are REALLY wanted for this episode! Thanks for watching!
  2. Join us for another audio only episode of Wrestling with a Generation Gap. With more WCCW footage up on the network, I assumed this would get pulled but we should return to video next episode for the next 6! This however is a GREAT episode and if you have ever wanted to see newer fans gush all over old footage this is it! Dave falls in love with David Von Erich, Rob realizes he misjudged both Jimmy Garvin & Kevin Von Erich but Nick still hates those pesky Freebirds! We also analyze whether Buddy Roberts is a superior Evolution era Ric Flair, should OMG sell for old man Fritz, WCCW's TV show as the predecessor to modern wrestling on TV and a whole lot more! And some new school stuff starts us off as Rob gets his first look at cheating scumbag Yano! Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Toru Yano Fritz Von Erich confronts Gary Hart to set up the Kerry Von Erich-One Man Gang Match David Von Erich vs. Jimmy Garvin Jimmy Garvin and Sunshine pay a visit to the Von Erich ranch Von Erichs Pizza Commercial Iceman King Parsons vs. Buddy Roberts – Hair vs. Hair match Fritz, Kevin & Mike Von Erich vs. The Freebirds – DVE Memorial 1 Kerry Von Erich vs. Ric Flair – DVE Memorial 1 Kerry & Kevin Von Erich vs. Gino Hernandez & Chris Adams – Hair vs. Hair match As always feel free to add comments and feedback, or follow us on the twitter! https://youtu.be/9_tS8cTCIi0
  3. I wonder by who? There's like 300 episodes of Memphis on youtube, none of which are blocked
  4. You are living up to your name as the Thread Killer lol. I actually did GASP download every episode of Memphis TV. So I've got the episode but not the whole match. The only part of that match I have is a highlights reel set to a Rocky tune. So if anyone has that...........if not, what's out there? This particular episode won't be recording until late October so I've got some time to hunt.
  5. I was under the impression the 83 LLT was just about 3 minutes of highlights. I'd prefer to show more to give them a sense of the scale of this feud, of just how long it went and mattered.
  6. The members of this board have been very helpful in selecting footage for me to show 2 newer fans for my podcast. They asked to see a long running feud and have seen very little of pre WWF Jerry Lawler. So I decided to do the King vs. the Superstar Bill Dundee. I am looking for between 60-75 minutes of their best matches, promos, angles and moments through the decades. What should I put in?
  7. My thoughts on this match back during my Trish microscope thread. There's an absurdly complex amount of backstory to this but it basically amounts to this, Trish has been making Lita's life a living hell for months. Lita attempted revenge at Survivor Series but was so out of control she was DQ'D almost right away. She did break Trish's nose, necessitating a face mask. This was pretty much booked as Lita's last title shot and Trish had run through every other opponent at this point. It was also the first time the women main evented a Raw. And it wasn't an average main event either they built it up with video packages tracking the 4 and a half year rivalry/friendship the two women had. In ring storyline has always been that Lita is just a better wrestler but Trish being a nasty vicious sneaky heel who's turning borderline sociopath (and gets worse after this result) will DO anything to win and Lita's not been able to find a way to truly counter this and defeat her in the most personal way possible, taking away her championship. This almost reminds me of a women's version of Savage-Steamboat to be honest, but the finish is booked smarter IMO. Lita clearly wants to take Trish's head off but has cooled off enough to get that the title is the best way for revenge, you can see in the looks they exchange pre match. Yup WM III. Lockup and the hate is so great they actually tumble to the floor together rather than give an inch. Trish attacks to start and Lita goes for the turnbuckle smash, blocked by Trish who returns the favor, being a methodical striker at this point. Trish with the chop and backdrop but Lita kicks to counter. Clothesline is countered by the Ma Trish and Lita looks at it and simply kicks the leg away to cover for 2. Building the theme Lita is better and smarter when she is focused. Nice Russian leg sweep from Lita for 2 but Trish rakes the eyes. Trish charges but gets backdropped right to the floor. she broke her fall just a tiny bit or that would have been serious. Lita with an absolutely sweet running suicide dive through the ropes to nail Trish. That one bit her a month later. The way Lita landed on the replay looks like she hit Trish square in the face. And as a hurt LIta crawls back into the ring Trish removes her face mask and grins pointing to it, revealing the injury was a work designed to take out one of Lita's best offensive weapons. Her taunting and look of just pure evil as she does this is awesome. A star for that alone given it had a month buildup. Then when Lita comes over Trish drops her with it beyond the ref's view. This is great great heel stuff. Trish pats herself on the back as she enters and then has Lita struggle to crawl up her body to get up with Trish just looking down in total contempt. Trish hammers away and NOW her punches look good, showing hatred with each blow. Trish pounds her and uses her corner hangman's choke. LOOK at Trish's face. This is an all time top ten look of pure hatred from a heel in wrestling history. Lita snapmares Trish off with a nasty back bump off the top and goes for the sleeper but Trish rams her back into the corner. Trish snapmares and locks in a full nelson. Lita escapes and hammer back whipping Trish into the corner. Trish goes for the handspring to counter so Lita tosses her to the apron where Trish lands and they brawl some more. Lita gets the better of that and hits a top rope superplex for a huge pop and kudos to both for doing that at all, let alone so well. That gets 2. Lita goes for a clothesline as they stand, Trish ducks and hits a vicious chick kick for 2. Half the people in the front row are standing. Piss break match indeed. Trish hammers away with force and goes for the ten punches in the corner countered with a powebomb from Lita for 2. Moonsault is countered with a shot to the back, Trish puts Lita on her shoulders, Lita counters with a victory roll for 2 And darn close. They get up and Lita goes for her snap DDT which was her finish then but Trish holds the ropes to block and Lita eats mat. Trish puts her feet on the ropes to try and get a cheap win but Lita powers out. Trish hammers away fast and goes for the stratusfaction but Lita toss her back. Disoriented Trish is easy prey to Lita's twist of fate. Exhausted Lita climbs to the top rope and hits her moonsault for a 3 count. She had literally nothing left there storyline wise but the last move worked. This wasn't as technically complex as say Savage-Steamboat (to name a match I THINK influenced it) but it was amazing and told a great story. Lita won by using absolutely everything she had and was totally spent at the victory. She overcame the most nasty cheating heel she had ever faced and beat her clean with her best moves. For some odd reason this reminds me of the best Memphis matches in its heat. Lita's victory pop is just amazing too. One of the best 8 minute matches I have ever seen, if not THE best. 4 stars all the way.
  8. NOW people want to say nice things about Trish Stratus. I'd be willing to do a whole podcast laying out my case she's the WWF female GOAT if anyone is willing to listen. Or check out my microscope thread if you want to see how much research I've done. But that aside, I was thinking about avoiding this thinking it another GWE poll like the last one. But if you are going to approach this with such an open mind and produce some amazing podcasts, I guess it's time to start giving this series a listen. Feedback to come soon.
  9. And pulled because I forgot WWE owned Stampede. Here is just the audio but for those who want to watch along here is what we watched Stu Hart confrontation with JR Foley - on youtube Jake Roberts vs. Sylvester Ritter ladder match - on WWE DVD Dynamite Kid vs. Bruce Hart Nick Bockwinkel vs. Leo Burke Bret, Dynamite & Sonny Two Rivers vs. Bad News Brown, The Stomper and son and post match Stomper interview Bret and Dynamite vs. Bad News & Cuban Assassin Brian Pillman vs. Jason the Terrible Owen Hart vs. Makhan Singh Okada vs. Omega - match 2 https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/wrestlingwithagenerationgap
  10. Yet another episode of Wrestling with a Generation Gap, the podcast that's all about showing the old to the new, and showing the new to the old. This time around Dave, Nick and Rob start off by watching Stampede Wrestling. Such stars as Stu Hart, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Dynamite Kid, Bad News Brown, Jason the Terrible, Nick Bockwinkel and many more get covered. Then we watch the rematch between Okada and Omega while Rob struggles to stay awake after 36 hours without a break! We pay tribute to Adam West, Dave explains Lana and Fashion Vice, the evolution of Rob's thoughts of Jake Roberts, a broad history of Stampede, and a whole lot more Also I have noticed some people do check these threads. Wondering if any of you had any feedback? Many of you who do podcasts were my inspiration to give it a shot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVW_643iPCg&feature=youtu.be
  11. Has anyone ever made or know where one could find a compilation of all those Dungeon of Doom segments in the Wizard's lair? I want to show those to a couple of newer fans for a gag.
  12. Interesting. Not really familiar with pre Freebird WCCW that first episode was interesting to see. Bundy with tons of hair is always fun but the production values aren't anywhere near what they would be a year later.
  13. A bunch of WCCW went up, including some stuff from early 82 and some that that WWE has previously told us had damaged master copies. Does anyone know what the first episode of the actual WCCW tv show was?
  14. We are back with another episode of the podcast that shows new stuff to old fans and old stuff to new fans. This time it is a visit to the island of Puerto Rico. We see such stars as Carlos Colon, Abdullah the Butcher, Stan Hansen, the Invaders, Chicky Starr, TNT and many more. Then it's off to New Japan's 2016 Wrestle Kingdom Rumble where Rob says "who is that guy" more often than Art Donavan asks about guys weight! Feedback and thoughts always welcome and a special thanks to PWO member El Boricua! Also my apologies in advance for calling Invader 3 vs. Chicky Starr a mid-card feud. You can hear me visibly wince at my own screw up and fail to fix it on the podcast. https://youtu.be/iO8W1E9Otic
  15. They also dumped a whole bunch of pre Hogan MSG shows on the network. Oddly nothing I didn't already have but it might explain why certain youtube channels either got pulled or removed themselves in the last few months.
  16. I just watched Fall Brawl 94 for the first time ever I think. I had seen the triangle match but the rest of this was new to me. I can't really state anything that wasn't covered by the above posts but God was this great. I would put this in my top 10 most entertaining matches to watch of all time without arguing for a second. I am literally smiling ear to ear right now at just how much fun this was to watch. A great effort from all involved, as far as I know the career match of at least 3 people involved (though I don't know much of Jimmy Golden so I could be wrong there). Just awesome stuff.
  17. Download and have 3 hard drives, 2 are backups. I used to think I was paranoid but I had a friend who lost all 3 of his hard drives in 4 days.
  18. There are 4 episodes of that DC Show from 65-66. I have 3 of them but sadly the one I am missing had a Bruno promo.
  19. Audio only but if you want to watch this way, here you go
  20. LOL. Good thing I didn't. WWE pulled it within moments which is odd given that all the footage is up on youtube with no probelms. https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/wrestlingwithagenerationgap
  21. Celebrate the 4th of July as it should be done, with the Living Legend Bruno Sammartino. Our podcast takes a look at Bruno's legendary feud with his protege Larry Zbyszko. So many topics are covered I could not possibly mention them all but Dave and Nick fall in love with the serious, realistic nature of this feud and its' promos. The matches, other than the first, don't get as much love and I blame myself as we really go off into so many related topics. I still think this is a very fun if somewhat irreverent listen to one of the greatest feuds of all time. We also cover the first Sasha Banks-Bailey NXT PPV match as well. A special thanks to all of the Titans of Wrestling for convincing me this was the only way to introduce Bruno and the old WWF to a new generation of fans and inspiring such love. You are missed guys.
  22. I am curious as to where Parv lies in the world of UK politics and what he's doing. This was great to see. 3/4 of the greatest podcast in wrestling history, even a few times a year, is pretty special. Have you guys considered adding Marty Sleaze for someone new to the group?
  23. Def a must buy but I am shocked by the lack of Macho Man vs. Undertaker honestly.
  24. In our ninth episode, Dave, Rob and Nick watch a collection of 60's-80's WWA from Indianapolis and then watch the infamous House of Horrors match from WWE. Along the way Dave explains the Jim Barnett vs. Rock Hudson feud, Rob reveals the time he was shot on as a 6 year old wrestling in his backyard, the Assassins - obscure Batman villains?, Dave and Nick debate the singing skills of Aiden English, Rob tells a story of drunkenly talking with an animatronic moose, a discussion about wrestling geography, wrestling comedy and the realization that Dave and Rob met nine years earlier than they thought. Feedback and comments always wanted.
