So fucking excited for this one
-
I believe deliberately acting racist for personal gain is as morally reprehensible as being actually racist
-
This reminds me of one of Meltzer's all time great snarky moments, when, in response to a reader's question, he wrote a sarcastic tongue-in-cheek kayfabe account of the familial history of Kane and Undertaker
-
Agreed. Chennai are my favourite team cuz I am from the same area of India that MS Dhoni is. Not to stray too far from Pro Wrestling Only, but it was disgusting to see the bad faith, cruel, dishonest movement to defame him for the choice of sponsors in the IPL

Maybe we should stop supporting Eva Marie for her so-called character work and "working the crowd", unless by "working the crowd" we mean "allow the crowd to be terrified that the hot MAGA girl might just get pushed" (of course by that logic and standard, every flop character in wrestling history was also just 'working the crowd') and by character work, we simply mean "I am an asshole who looks good, please notice me!!"

The Indian Premier League is postponed. I am mentioning this cuz I have talked about the success of the legends' shows, which gave me so much of the research material I needed. If India is postponing the Indian Premier League, it means the reported statistics are 90% de-reported. This basically means 3 MILLION daily cases and 30,000 deaths every YEAR due to this. EDIT: Please disregard the rest of the message. I was scared shitless last night about what was going to happen in my country and as a result was talking complete nonsense, with zero logic

The fact that she was terrible whenever she did wrestle might have something to do with it. Plenty of green as goose shit wrestlers who show more talent and balance/co-ordination in their first month of training. We have seen a ton of people debut in the last few years and become good. Her problem wasn't that she was new; it was that she wasn't good
-
But hey, she should be right at home amidst this terrible botchfest!
-
God, Eva Marie sucks and always has. A bunch of fans acting like looking pretty and doing a catwalk on the ramp somehow constitutes "character work", which is one of the most baffling takes I have ever seen. Jillian Hall was better than Eva Marie

The idea of a nervous Steve Austin twirling the blade in his fingers and practicing in front of a mirror how to cut himself cuz he had never bladed before is as preposterous as it is hilarious. As if it was Dustin blading Austin in 1991 or whatever. I love Bret but he is not nearly as honest as his biggest fans think he is. He engages in plenty of working and bullshitting himself.
-
Bret definitely said in his autobiography that Austin was nervous about blading because he had never bladed before. He also talked about the no-blading policy in effect at that time, but he definitely claimed that Austin had never bladed before, that Austin himself told him that. I always thought that was just another exaggerated version of the famous "X came to me with tears in his eyes, shook my hand, thanked me and told me I am the best" stories that Bret had in his book throughout, since we have seen Austin blade in WCW

This made me laugh

Thank you, that's an excellent post and I get what you are saying. Also, the fact that he tried starting a folk music career might have bumped him up a couple of spots on my list

Would being calm and stoic really be an issue for Japanese fans? Misawa was stoic as well, and he had no issues being the man in 90s AJ. Jumbo could have been the hero of the salaried professionals the same way as Misawa was: by being the best in the ring at pro wrestling

WWE TV 04/26 - 05/02 Roman Reigns fans are the smartest in the world
MoS replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
I honestly wish Bryan never has a match after this. Going out getting fridged for Cesaro in an excellent match against his career-best rival, the guy who is as clear the top guy in WWE in 2021 as has been since Cena in 2012, is perfectly poetic. -
The Sammy-Inner Circle thing is weird. When they initially did the angle where he came back and they swerved MJF only to get double swerved, Jericho said something like "You think we are idiots? We don't talk to each other on the phone all the time? We knew for months that you would try to break us apart." But then this week he said something like "You got us divided and Sammy out of the Circle, that will never happen again." I thought Jericho cut a good face promo this week, esp by face Jericho standards, but it's being portrayed by so many as this incredible all-timd great promo, and I don't get it. He said a lot of silly stuff in it.
-
I get that, but the concept of 4 main guys being the head AND soul of the promotion would still apply. I don't know if it's about how in the context of US wrestling promotions, we think of eras as defined by a select group of guys for the most part, versus puro (or at least AJPW/NOAH) focusing on the ace. But even NJPW had the three musketeers
-
Can you please elaborate on this? Was it something that was not felt that way in Japan?
-
Yeah it was very noticeable. Even his peers refused to acknowledge him. Imagine the kind of allegations known in those circles which we have no idea about
-
Clearly Darby and the Pinnacle-Inner Circle parley is no match for Big Biden as a draw. Expect him to headline next WM with The Big Dog. Maybe somehow Bryan finds his way in the main event yet again as some Bernie/crazy Green Party surrogate
-
I think it would be interesting to look back and debate who was better, PWG Cena or 2002-04 Angle, when he was in his worst, most self-indulgent phase
-
It was funny when, right after Rollins had as usual whined about fans booing, "confusing reactions" and therefore really liking the thunderdome era cuz it was creating "cleaner storylines", Nick Khan in some subsequent interview basically shut it down immediately, saying that the fans' "live feedback" and immediate reaction is extremely valuable to them, and that they can't wait to get in front of live crowds again. Vince probably respects the fact that he has for the first time in forever, met someone who doesn't drink his and WWE's Kool-Aid
-
I say this every week, but Darby Allin is the fucking man. The match was very good, stupid interference aside, and the full nelson nearfall followed by the old Bret-Austin finish ruled SO HARD
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA that Rusev-Sabian thing was perfect
