Agreed. I remember the first time someone said shit on AEW Dynamite: it was Jericho, on the 2nd Dynamite ever, when he told Cody he was "going to beat the shit out of you." It felt visceral and impactful. Now it's like a Russo-esque crutch, with zero meaning or emotion. Like, fine. You say shit. Get over yourself. Even Jade said it in her promo (and btw, why would you make someone with her presence and look ever cut a promo? If anyone ever needed a manager, it is Jade, and most definitely not Nia, who is a perfectly fine promo by herself.) I am really not a fan of the YB switching from face to heel with zero explanation or proper context every fucking week. It is too fucking schizophrenic. And the rap gimmick Acclaim is doing can go die in the water. It's terrible. Also insulting to the genre of rap, which has often been used to point out systematic, structural inequities, and not stupid insults, although yeah there has been plenty of the latter too. That said though, the main event was really good. When the Bucks are not booking their programs and are left to simply structure their matches, they are excellent. Therefore, like most top acts in wrestling history, they should not be allowed to have "creative control" over their storylines and should only be asked to wrestle. They are brilliant at wrestling and structuring, and terrible at booking and long-term storytelling. This Dynamite episode was better than the last couple, but I personally am still cold and underwhelmed by what I have seen the last few weeks. I am EAGERLY waiting for Mox's return next week. Mox is a fucking stud, an absolute superstar, and I had not realized how much this show needs him until the last couple weeks when he was not there to cut his usual excellent promo or have his usual great match.

Riki Choshu being namedropped on national American cable!

They have booked Shida so badly. She deserved so much more. Also, where is Britt? Literally the only star in the women's division, why is she not on TV every week? Please don't say she is on Dark every week; it's like putting Austin only on Shotgun and not Raw every week, except worse.

Fair. I also liked Tony explaining the disastrous Seven gimmick from early 90s WCW

Anything involving Superdork Kib Sabian is instant channel-changing material
-
I say this without the slightest bit of exaggeration, I would pay money just to hear Kingston talk for 2 hours every week

Every time Kurt Angle has been in the ring in the last 4 years, he has looked like a weak Thanos. This is not a compliment. I remember being literally terrified every time he would step in, that we would watch a guy die on live TV. As far as most impactful debut years go, how about Goldberg. His Nitro debut was in September 1997. In one year, he was the 2nd biggest draw in wrestling, and the first was Steve Austin who at that time was the God of pro wrestling
-
OTOH, Taz is excellent and Darby is the fucking man. I hope he is featured more - he doesn't need to be hidden away in the rafters to actually be a draw, unlike certain current AEW-contracted talent

Fun tag opener. Hager is terrible at promos and so is Sting

Dynamite is live now, thanks to Giannis's epic choke!! @KawadaSmile the Bucks can never catch a break huh

WWE TV 12/21 - 12/27 Happy Holidays! Mario Odyssey is pretty fucking great!

I'm not watching NXT, but whatever is happening has got Bryan Alvarez more drunk than Devdas, and it's led to him FINALLY being entertaining for the first time in his long life. As I said, first time he's ever been entertaining. Also more entertaining than whatever is happening on the pedo show. Happy holidays everyone! I hope you enjoy as much as Bryan is clearly enjoying -
Thanks for this, TTK. You da real MVP The MX v. Garwin feud was one of JCP's best. I have a feeling if Corny was to review every single Wyatt/Fiend segments this year his head would explode mid-recording

Co-signed

Cannot listen to Corny and Last for 41 fucking minutes. Paging good brother @The Thread Killer for help

Ratings came crashing back last week and they are pre-empted from their usual time slot tonight - although the NBA means they will get a big lead-in. I hope this means they do some course correction cuz I have not been a fan of the last couple of episodes

WWE TV 12/21 - 12/27 Happy Holidays! Mario Odyssey is pretty fucking great!

The weirdest thing about this Raw was that there was no Dave Meltzer to review it on Radio. His mom passed away yesterday and thus he obviously couldn't do a radio show. It really makes you admire someone who has been so professional and stuck to his duties and obligations as thoroughly as Dave has over the years, despite all the disruptions in his personal life. Commiserations to Dave, much love and support to him, and I applaud him for not committing a crime on his already traumatised brain by watching fucking Monday Night Raw in December 2020. -

Owens and Reigns will have a steel cage match this Friday?! I don't get it, was the TLC just the prelude? Should a TLC match with no fans in attendance ever be a stage-setter for another gimmick match? Am I 65 years old and yelling at a bunch of clouds? -
There's a world of difference between Brody throwing a bitchfit and no-selling Luger's offence, and how the story had been told for literally decades about how Brody shot on Luger and beat him up and had him run away like a terrified bitch. At no point in the vid I posted does Brody take any actual liberties with Luger. Yeah he was an unprofessional fuck, but he didn't come close to trying to hurt Luger at all. Hell, I would argue that Luger looked pretty good and Brody's weird antics made him look like an idiot
-
Sasha legit should get an award for how great she made Carmella look, and how much their match overdelivered. It is by sime distance the best Carmella has ever looked in the ring. Sasha is a special talent
-
What kind of terrible booker puts Daniel fucking Bryan on the pre-show?!
-
I think we already talked about it once upon a time, long long ago, so I am not making a different topic about it........ BUT This is the so-called shoot, when Brody apparently decided to go against the result and shoot on Luger - wrestlers who love Brody and who hate Luger love talking about this, cuz of course they do. But, actually watching the footage...like, that did not happen at all?!?! At no point in time during this footage does Brody "shoot on" Luger in my opinion?!?!? If anything, this footage really puts over Luger as a tough SOB even more than a match of this nature ordinarily would have?!?! So, like, why that infamous story then?

Is Mox on paternity leave already? The last two shows have really missed his presence and charisma. He is always good for one tremendous promo/segment every week and I feel like this show needs him.
-
This genuinely got me to laugh out loud, Dave has his moments on Twitter
-
Also, as much as I don't like Omega, let's be fair: it was not an actual world title shot. Janela would have earned a world title.shot had he beaten Omega. He did not, so Omega and Callis are free to rant about whatever the fuck they want; especially given that a lot of it doesn't interest me at all
-
I definitely feel this was a very underwhelming episode of AEW. I get that this booking has led to a lot of interest in the last couple of weeks, but I think the last couple Dynamites have been really underwhelming and have either not led to any cognisant eventual result, or are just prolonging a story - with rather boring characters - that doesn't interest me
