  1. I know Carmella has fans here for some reason, but best of luck to Sasha Banks for having to carry a championship feud with her for a PPV.
  2. MoS

    AEW Full Gear 2020

This would have been basically a forgettable PPV with Great Wrestlingtm like a lot of modern wrestling, but Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston have changed that. I don't even care that Moxley will almost certainly win AND that he has beaten Kingston clean before; the wrestling fan in me will always pay for pro wrestling gold like that
  3. I had this impression too. Dusty would often talk about getting women of colour in bed in his promos, and apparently he had a big following amongst black wrestling fans
  4. I firmly believe it is the kind of segment that will get dozens of extra buys for the PPV on its own. People might not have watched it live, or even the next day replay, but as Saturday comes, word of mouth will get out, people will check it out on YouTube, and it absolutely was good enough to get fencesitters to order the PPV.
  5. This Mox-Kingston stuff is pro wrestling gold, holy God. LOVE Eddie interrupting Mox and not standing and waiting for his turn to speak, like the antithesis of WWE faceoffs. This is everything I like about pro wrestling
  6. MJF attacking Jericho was the best thing of the feud
  7. He also had Don Jr on his podcast. To quote his own self, what an assclown.
  8. Jericho can do all the shitty musicals he wants this week, cuz no one will be watching. As it is, he has been posting dumbass shit on Twitter and rightfully getting called out for it.
  9. I would hope so. As an Indian, one of the most frustrating aspects of NJPW World has been getting my cousins who are newer fans to watch old true NJPW classics, cuz they are so difficult to access. The non-Japanese secction has been so fucking difficult to access and use
  10. At the risk of sounding like a total simp mark, I am happy WWE butchered Aussie rules only cuz it got Stacey to post here multiple times to respond to it
  11. Remember that crazy conspiracy theory from 2000 where apparently WWF swung the election in Dubya's favour
  12. Let's all celebrate some #LOLWCW goodness
  13. Strictly only decent. Less than it should have done frankly. It was also basically a PPV-themed show against a throwaway transitory Dynamite episode. But it was actually great, unlike most WWE PPVs where you have to pick and choose what to watch. Reminded me of old NXT Takeovers. The losing the money demo to AEW is a problem bigger than NXT. There have been times when Dynamite has done better numbers in a subset of the target demo (in 18-34) than Raw, which should absolutely not happen. WWE certainly has an older people problem. People rail on NBA for reclining ratings, but it is an institution that has actually managed to do a good job finding younger fans. WWE has not been able to do that.
  14. Not doubting you here at all, it is impossible for a single individual to keep track of everything, and in a lot of cases, an influencer is always influenced/made aware of their area of expertise by other people. I know we had an argument about Becky and women's wrestlers recently, but I agree about your larger point about Meltzer not paying enough attention to women's wrestlers and the larger trends in female pro wrestling; he is quite often very dismissive and too outcome-oriented, and almost seems to think that because AJW and joshi in general gave us tremendous wrestlers in the years' past, we should ignore structural barriers that female wrestlers have. It was in that regard that Casey was a huge contributor to wrestling in general, and again, not dismissing you at all, his absence will definitely impact women's pro wrestling in a negative way for years and years until someone occupies the space he did, if at all someone can do it. On a related point, while I plead ignorance about AQA, with female wrestlers, for obvious reasons, it's not just them having the physical talent that determines their eventual success, but also their mental and emotional reaction to working in an industry that constantly disrespects and dismisses them and their contributions, and reduces their worth to, to put it bluntly, how hot the men running the shows find them to be. It's almost a case of male wrestlers determining on their own how far these women should go, which honestly impacts their success on both sides of the spectrum, as we have seen with Kylie Rae and her unfortunate mental health issues.
  15. That's an excellent video, thanks for pointing my attention to it. Not to be trivial about human life, but the death of Casey Michael is a huge stepback for women's wrestlers precisely because now there is no one who brings the attention of the pro wrestling audience to talented female wrestlers who might not have a forum to showcase their skills.
  16. Good match, good Dynamite episode. Really wish the YB-FTR build was better, cuz it's honestly severely watered down a natural dream match. Also pls stop indulging Jericho's creativity, he is officially a boomer
  17. Penta is such a charismatic force of nature, they should break up Lucha Bros and let both shine individually
  18. Always weird when supernatural characters get injured lol Mox-Kingston faceoff should be the main event instead of fucking Shawn Spears
  19. This is hardly a new opinion, but Serena is SO GOOOD
  20. First time I am seeing this Layla wrestler, she is green but seems to have a lot of potential. Nasty strikes
  21. Nice, it's been a while since we had a trademark chaotic AEW multi-person brawl
  22. Catching up on the thread, @The Thread Killer not sure if you have had surgery already or if it is still upcoming, but I wish you all the best. Kick ass, my dude!
  23. Not sure, but this development has me intrigued, I have to say. Having said that, the segment would have been much better and just as effective if it was limited to the last 2-3 minutes of what actually happened. I am beginning to hate Jericho's creative ideas. Big-time championship match, and J.R just goes "I am wondering how this match got made" Fuck him, worst commentator in wrestling
  24. One is really good and gets wrestling naturally, the other runs WWE
  25. Unlike Mox-Kingston, this Bucks-FTR stuff has been underwhelming. Classic Bucks overcomplicating a simple storyline. Seriously, they do it every time
