That was a really good match. I am guessing Cody officially becomes heel the day he actually delivers the pedigree
-
I wish Taz had more kids doing pro wrestling, just so I could listen to him laugh with glee on commentary as they kill their opponents

Hahaha Miro picking a fight with God on Christmas, he is the best

A very merry Christmas and happy HOOK Wrestles Day everyone!

Saw the latest Rampage spoilers and by god they are hilarious

Catching up on the rest of the show, I generally like Orange Cassidy but that opening match was boring as shit. Loved the Hangman-Danielson promo though, I was honestly thinking that Danielson was getting too much mic time in their program, and Hangman wasn't getting enough, but Hangman got the chance to cut a good promo here, even managed a little dig at Bryan and the entire B-plus thing.

If Mox is up for it, I would love for him to do the "Terry Funk does commentary/judging and then piledrives Ric Flair to hell" angle with Hangman

America isn't going back to full lockdowns on a federal level, so I am sure both WWE and AEW will find plenty of states where they can run shows with fans. I can't imagine Florida locking down, for example.

Sting and Darby tag team of the year. How is Sting 62. What the fuck. None of this makes sense.
-
Also, is it me or has AEW basically not pushed at all that they are changing channels on 5th? I just see a TBS graphic for the world title rematch and not much else.
-
I am in absolute awe of Sting right now. This is a Christmas miracle

Caught the last match. They have done a great job making Black look like a star. He can be Hangman's next challenger too. Speaking of, how was the Hangman-Danielson segment?

Sting, CM Punk, and Darby Allin are teaming up in Greensboro. 2021 and AEW continue to be utterly wild

Lmao this is beyond parody. No idea how anyone watches this shit, man, it's like constantly mocking and insulting you for being a fan and caring about the product

This is a joke tweet, right. Like Vince didn't actually say this, right

Very surprised at Kingston eating a pin. I hope they have big plans for him, he seems to be used as a utility player, and he is way too good to be used like that

I think Danielson's limb-work psychology is simply that he is a stretcher, who breaks down bigger opponents by twisting them into painful knots. The fact that he got too sadistic with his punishment and did not remain focused on one limb was his undoing in kayfabe, because it allowed Hangman to come back and to use his superior strength and smashmouth style to neutralise Dragon's expertise. I didn't think they lost the crowd at any point at all. The closest was when Page was getting treated for his cut, but Danielson actually used that to get the crowd to start viscerally hating him, which took the match to a whole new level. There were so few This is Awesome chants in the finishing stretch, and I think it was largely cuz Bryan and Hangman actually managed to make the crowd feel emotional and invested in the result, and that brief lull when Hangman was getting treated was crucial in achieving that.

I don't know why, but this genuinely got a big loud laugh out of me. Thanks for this

I am actually a bit nervous about what Bryan has planned for the rematch. I remember very early on in his career, he really wanted to do like a 180-min match (3 falls, 60 mins each) but "compromised" and went only like 80 minutes. As great as this draw was, the rematch doesn't need to be longer. It actually needs to be shorter and more intense imo, so it's a different kind of classic.

Dante Martin isn't real. Loved the match and the post-match angle. Hottest end to a show in a while. This was a tremendous episode of Dynamite.

Eddie Kingston is the absolute best. Hahaha I admittedly popped for the Ryback dig

Yeah but Joe was always booked as a dominant threat, so it made sense for him to not immediately be challenged. They have pushed Bryan as the GOAT, and he nearly beat Omega. His entire gameplan is taking the match deep and outlasting you. So for him to actually be the one saved by the bell was a big progress for Hangman, and left him more over than when he walked in. I understand why people are pissed at the draw, but I think it fits the story they are telling.
-
I am thinking they might do something like the Joe-Punk trilogy, where people expect the eventual win to be in like 90 mins, but it's actually the shortest and sweetest. It would tell a clear story of a young champion becoming better the longer he reigns.
-
If the draw had made Hangman look weaker than he was coming into the match, I would have had an issue with it. But I think he came out of it stronger than he went in. So if they feel there is more juice in Hanger-Danielson than just one match, I am perfectly fine with it
-
Danielson had nearly submitted Omega when their bell rang. Omega was the one who got saved by the bell there. Meanwhile, it was Bryan who escaped by the skin of his teeth here, against the man who actually managed to beat Omega. I think the hierarchy has been subtly but clearly established. I think it's perfectly fine, and the rematch should be even better.
