OF COURSE Jericho now wants to work with Kingston. Can't wait to have them feud for 2 months longer than necessary!

But your own signature contradicts this

King v. Danny Garcia should be great

To be fair, I am sure it was scheduled for like 13-15 mins maximum. It seems like MJF got nervous and rambled and went much longer. You saw there were some other matches that ended up very abruptly and shortly, like the Bear Country match, which to me felt like they were adjusting on the fly to make up for MJF going too long.
-
He was absolutely nervous and rambling for a bit, but Punk being old and nervous about hanging with the young guys was the essence of his promo, something Punk himself acknowledged. He was saying Punk is old and knows it, and since coming to AEW he has just been trying hide that. It was as essential and unnerving as the point about Punk being second-best to Cena and insecure about it, which is really fundamental to CM Punk the wrestling character. He was rambling and turned a 13-minute segment into a 22-min segment, but I thought he got better and better as the segment went on, and by the end he was doing really good. He wasn't close to Punk and Kingston's level, but who is. I do wish he would get rid of that Punky Brewster bullshit and all the corny cringe nicknames. That's not his inner Roddy Piper coming out, it's his inner Chris Jericho coming out, and it sounds like shit.

How exactly. What MJF line after that explicit Punk callout was a cheap dig. I agree that Punk outpromo'd MJF, but Punk in head to head promo battles will outdo most wrestlers. He outdid Rock when they went head to head. Saying Punk did far better than MJF is far different from saying MJF continued doing his cheap heel shtick after Punk called him out for it.

Yeah I am loving this build so much

Bryan Danielson, molar collector

That match was awesome.

No hopes for Danielson-Colt?

They kept mentioning on commentary that he was having an off night, so yeah, probably something to do with how some of MJF's comments had affected Punk

I am seeing people complain about how it's taking time away from wrestling, like there isn't enough wrestling on Dynamite usually, with pictures of QT waiting. Like, my heart breaks for QT, but he can live with waiting in the back while they talk. In hindsight, I was wrong about complaining about him being booked, him getting cucked for Punk-MJF was perfect. Also heard people say that the only ones who would love this are the ones who just giggle at WWE wrestlers being name-dropped on TV, but like, those wrestlers were name-dropped in in the context of insults and their names made sense in that context. If Punk had called MJF a less-known Randy Orton, it wouldn't have made sense cuz some people actually do call MJF a Miz-lite for his insults, which was the point.

Seeing some hate for it on Twitter and don't get it. I know MJF isn't for everyone and his first lines were his usual shit, but as soon as Punk picked the mic, business went up, and then it remained genuinely great throughout, with great work by both men, not just with the insults but also plenty of reality to butress their work.

This segment went into next gear when Punk picked the mic and by God it has remained there since

HOLY SHIT @KawadaSmile IS CM PUNK CONFIRMED
-
You know, these are good predictable insults by MJF, but the moment Punk picked the mic, he felt like he was more than a level beyond

Russo vacated the title too. And surely the fact that he won as a face makes it worse? I get the point about him being a roided freak, but he had never been presented as remotely credible in the ring. He would barely get any offence against any wrestler, and when he would, they would usually no-sell it. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Shane McMahon was booked as ten times tougher and more credible a year later, even though he looked far more like Russo/Arquette than his dad. The point about Vince being the number one heel in the promotion and part of the hottest feud of the decade is very valid, but as Loss also pointed out, Bobby Heenan, Jim Cornette, and Jimmy Hart had also at various points in time been the number one heel in their respective promotions; it would have been a disaster for any of them to hold the belt either. Russo and Arquette winning was worse, but the Vince win isn't even talked as being in the same ballpark of bad booking decisions. It's barely spoken of at all. I think a lot of it has to do with WWF being really hot in 1999 due to Austin and then Rock, and as NintendoLogic said, history is written by the victors. In an alternative universe where WCW wins the war, the Rise and Fall of WWF documentary would probably have an extensive segment on Vince winning the title and WWF champion Big Show feuding and fighting over his dad's casket. -

@Loss on Twitter generated quite a debate when he said he isn't sure whether the worst of present-day WWE isn't as bad as latter-day WCW (this emerged from Meltzer saying that the worst of modern WWE still doesn't touch the worst of latter-day WCW) and it is a very interesting debate to have. One had more illogical booking and less good in-ring stuff, the other has a more crushing sense of statism, the feeling of an unending treadmill, where nothing moves, it's an endless assembly line of content where there are no stakes, nothing matters, no consequences, no reward. Both treated their fans like crap. He also raised an interesting question about why McMahon winning the WWF title in 1999 (as a face too) isn't considered as bad as Russo and Arquette winning the WCW title. -
Meanwhile, the Great One continues to troll

HAHAHAHAHHAHAJAA give him his own wing in every single wrestling hall of fame, GOAT stuff

I am amazed how they couldn't get Rock to do even like a 2-minute pre-taped video. Not even a TikTok. The man got the entire Survivor Series PPV to revolve around him and his terrible latest film (I watched it just a week back and I barely remember the story, that's how bad it was) and he gave them less time than he does his Instagram. What a King. This has to add significantly to his GWE case.

He will lose it in a triple threat where he never gets pinned while some authority figure is causing shenanigans at ringside
