  1. People forget that Lauper was considered co-equal with Madonna at her peak. It was a huge deal to grab her star power, Ross still not even acknowledging that much 30 YEARS later is hilariously spiteful.
  2. I only just learned of his weird Lauper hate recently with the roundtable. I'm kind of delighted by how bizarre a thing it is to hold on to.
  3. This name makes me think of nothing but those crap Air Force commercials "A Global Force - For Good"
  4. Yeah, I've been pretty disappointed with his hosting abilities on the podcast. He just feels so much less sharp than he did in years past. Always seems to have a few talking points and sticks with them no matter where the conversation goes.
  5. Yeah, he could just be talking about the possibility that his health was failing and that his will got him just barely past the point of this big moment for him.
  6. Continue to admire the no nonsense moderation of a forum that lives up to the name "pro wrestling only"
  7. Yes, a guy I had at best very mixed feelings for. But I have no joy in his passing. I will say this for him - when I was 7/8 years old simply seeing his picture on a PPV VHS at blockbuster made me lose my mind. I've never forgotten that feeling of awe even as I've gotten older and grown to appreciate wrestling on deeper and deeper levels. In my mind Warrior is the essence of being a childhood wrestling fan and the loss of that from the world is something I'll mourn.
  8. I think JR's inappropriateness during that conference is under-remembered due to how bad Flair was. I don't think Flair was the only one who had a few too many, and I really don't have any sympathy for JR.
  9. Beyond the obvious, an all around rough Flair event to watch. He seemed sober, which actually just made him seem deeply, deeply sad. Also (Unintentionally, I Hope?) took a pretty nasty swipe at Foley with "You overstayed your welcome." You can see Foley is pretty flummoxed after he says it.
  10. Seems like a heel (or a soon turning face) would have to win just because that trophy is awesome enough that you'd want to keep it on TV for a while, but you can't have a face lugging around his giant trophy every week.

Hm, did Piper have one of those "never the same again" injuries at some point, or did his health just generally deteriorate at a wild pace? I know his back was super jacked up by the time he did that 90's WCW run, but I don't recall if that stemmed from a particular incident or not.
  12. The same Corino who when was made champ many felt the promotion had lost its soul? Was that really a talking point at the time? Seems like an odd complaint coming not so long after a Justin Credible reign.
  13. My impression was always that Paul was too aggressive and took on debts that even a fast growing company couldn't hope to outpace. What I've always wondered is if a more fiscally conservative approach would have worked, or if that would have just ended up being death by 1000 cuts instead of the swan dive that it was.

Yeah, I really appreciated Bray's little lampshade hanging with the Husky Harris is the host of Bray Wyatt nod. It doesn't matter to any except the hardest of the hardcore, but I think its a really good sign of his ability to think on his feet and fully inhabit a character.
  15. Of course, I'm not going to ever really care about the WWE Hall of Fame until it becomes a physical location. Its just meaningless trivia and a ceremony that occasionally results in a memorable speech or moment until then.
  16. The baseball hall of fame has this feature called the "Golden Era Veterans Committee" - Basically a quieter, back-door way for half-forgotten old timers to get in the hall of fame. In that context I really hate it because its just a ridiculous exercise in nostalgia indulgence (i.e. baseball as ususal), but I'd actually support a similar idea for the WWE if they ever wanted to get more serious about their HoF and present a more sensible history of wrestling (say, before opening a physical hall of fame). The way they like to do the Hall now, a guy like Hodge is never going to get in, so it would be a reasonable solution to present something more robust.
  17. Maybe to make them more palatable to people who want a casual nostalgia kick?
  18. Yeah, while I'm sure the NDA's have the language to cover any number of things (my own NDA for the tech company I work for is stupid extensive, though little of it is ever enforced), I bet in practice they couldn't care less about autobiographical details. Something that revealed too much about ongoing business matters though, I assume that would be a different matter.

I think the best I can say for Raven at this point is that as far as bad wrestling stuff goes, nothing makes me genuinely bust a gut laughing quite like a pretentious, non-sensical Raven promo.
  20. Yeah, I had kind of forgot about his hardcore run simply because the wwe hardcore title isn't something I reminisce about often, but the clip package for that reminded me that he had some decent moments there. A little more inventive and fun than the average wwe hardcore guy.
  21. Watching the Hardcore episode of Legends Roudtable. Very questionable panel on this one (dogg, hayes, ross, patterson). Patterson basically says that hardcore makes him sick in his opening statement. lol.
  22. Love getting to see Legends of Wrestling without having to jump through hoops on Daily Motion for piss poor quality rips of them. I had previously seen all the ones posted so far, but there's several I haven't seen - looking forward to those going up. Sarge did have several great stories, didn't expect to enjoy him as much as I did.
  23. Bodes well for 'Mania!!
  24. Was just skimming around and saw a headline that read "Magnus on the pressures of being TNA Champion" I imagine the quote in there is "Tons of pressure to bring it for those 400 or so fans, I mean almost half of them paid for tickets, so you know they expect a show."
  25. Personally hoping he goes with "I Love This Wrestling Promotion"
