Rick Rude vs Ricky Steamboat Royal Rumble '88 & Rick Rude vs Masa Chono Halloween Havoc '92 are two of the worst matches i've ever seen that didn't involve women or low level indie talent.

None of this is unfair. Rude I always found really, really boring. From Crockett to WWE to especially WCW. Took good bumps and had a cool gimmick. Valentine to me is like the epitome of average, but I guess I get why people like him. Post 1986 or so he was flat out bad, imo.

Here are some guys i'd call average or run-of-the-mill Damien Sandow Charlie Hass Rhyno Billy Gunn Bob Holly Bobby Roode James Storm Adam Pearce Rob Conway Magnum T.A. Lex Luger Toru Yano Triple H Barry Darsow Bill Eadie Greg Valentine Rick Rude Cody Rhodes Randy Orton D-Lo Brown Tensai/Giant Bernard One Man Gang Tim Horner Al Perez

Seems like this he delved into bringing up guys people generally think are great and knocking them down a peg. Here are some guys I always thought were good but never thought of as great: Roderick Strong Yoshinobu Kanemaru Tsuyoshi Kikuchi Atsushi Aoki Shinjiro Ohtani Chris Hero (although he's evolved into something that could end up being great) Mohammed Yone Shane Douglas Jeff Jarrett Yujiro Takahashi Ryusuke Taguchi Tetsuya Naito Edge Johnny Ace Taiyo Kea Lance Hoyt/Archer Davey Boy Smith Jr Jacques Rougeau Sting Jay Lethal EDIT - actually, the OP was about guys who he thought were great and then changed his mind on over the years. That's different than what I just did.

I was underwhelmed when I saw Joe/Kobashi, and very underwhelmed with Joe/Punk. Sounds like I don't like Joe, but I love Joe.

Ray Rowe had a GREAT match with Chris Hero for Inspire Pro out of Austin on 1/5 as well. Rowe is a guy who is going to break out this year. I saw him a bunch of times live last year, and he was always in the best or second best match every time.

Back in 2011 it was 1M live streams a day. Given how rapidly these things are going (such as Netflix subs), it's likely grow a fair amount since then. Here's the thing about this: MLB.tv will know exactly what level of resource they'll need to dedicate to it by the number of subs that the Network gets. This isn't like an iPPV where people impulse buy it at the last minute. It's unlikely that say 250K people are going to sign up for WWE Network 1-2 hours before Mania, trying to figure out how to make it work on their TV, etc. The vast majority of subs will come in advance where they'll have a very good idea of what they need to dedicate, and in turn build in a bit of margin above that for a small % of last minute attempts. It's not likely to be a problem on the back end. The greater problem will be on the front end: User Error in setting it up. And that's where the WWE and/or MLB.tv is going to need to dedicate some resources. The annoying thing about User Error is that a large number of them just can't grasp that they're fucking up, can't fix it, and tend to turn to Support to fix it for them. Also should be noted that MLB Advanced Media also handles all ESPN streaming, NCAA March Madness, The Masters, and did last year's Super Bowl for CBS. WWE went to the best people.

You described the gimmick for the Steiners and no one praises them as much as Angle. What's the difference? Can't speak for others, but I dig vintage Steiners a lot. I love this sort of gimmick.

WHY DO YOU HATE MATWORK SO MUCH?! I don't "hate" matwork per say, although it's not something I require in my evaluation great matches or of what I consider great workers. But yeah, so the reasons stated above, that's not what I want out of Kurt. I'll watch Blue Panther work guys over on the mat all day. I want Kurt to murder people, yank off his straps, and behave like a lunatic. That's when he's at his best

Voices of Wrestling "Match of the Year" Poll

Myself & Rich (FedEx) came up with a list of 50 or 60 names. I've added to it since and hope to send out over 100 next year. -
I don't ever want to see Kurt Angle mat wrestle. Yawn. I want Angle to throw dudes around, work at an insane pace, and scream a lot while working his ass off. Leave the boring grappling to charisma voids like Dory Funk Jr. Kurt Angle best portrays the insane roided up jock who will cave your face, drop you on your head, and then insult your girlfriend. He's not a tactician, he's physically superior and wants to beat you up. He's the asshole in high school who takes gym class too seriously but who everybody is afraid to confront. There are few wrestlers ever i'd rather watch than Kurt at his best.

When I read this, I literally ran downstairs to turn on my Roku and add the channel. I can not find it. Are you sure they added it? EDIT - I see it's only Roku 3 for now. I have a Roku 2.

This match got them more pub than the NWA World title switch hours earlier on what will end up being the second biggest show in the world this year. Also, i'm not going to sit here and try to sell people on modern NWA, but the new regime has made honest efforts to clean up the brand. They've made an effort to book well known professional champions who are willing to travel as opposed to allowing mark promoters (and wrestlers) to buy title reigns, they've kicked out the dirty promoters from the alliance instead of simply collecting fees from whoever is willing to pay, and they've got a decent little deal going with New Japan. NWA jokes have gotten to be like Saturday Night Live jokes. Both are well past their peak, but most of the people who go out of their way to make cracks aren't even paying attention and usually have no clue what's going on. It's just shit people say at this point.

He works an exciting, fast paced, athletic style. He fits nicely into the evolution of the Japanese style of junior worker. He's a good flyer and has great matches if you're into the style. Not sure if you are goading rovert here or if you're being genuine.

No. While I understand the critiques by the majority here, in many other circles people really like his work.

We got a bunch of emails saying the exact same thing. Like I said in the article, I consider that a compliment. We're flattered how seriously people took their ballots. whether they turned them in or not. Thanks.
