The Jim Ross Is A Grouchy Hateful Vile Human Being thread

You clearly haven't heard too much of Colt then. -
I didn't care for the Matt Sydal interview myself. It was just going and going and going... but nothing of note was really said.

In a realistic world it does. El-P was spot on the money with Sammartino and Morales, and I'd throw in JYD as an equally strong example. Granted this was all a long time ago relatively speaking, but society still has deep rooted links to this attitude / celebration of race and culture. There's also a logical argument to be linked with why people from a particular country cheer their home country star, irrespective of talent.

Why do you say that?

1. Hogan vs Andre. 2. Hogan loses the title via referee screwjob. 3. Austin vs McMahon 4. War to Settle the Score. 5. Implosion of the Mega Powers. 6. The renaissance of the European market leading to Summerslam 1992. 7. The resurrection of Shawn Michaels. 8. Tyson and Austin confrontation. 9. Montreal Screwjob 10. The reign and loss of the Undertaker's Wrestlemania streak. I may actually turn an in depth explanation of my choices and rankings into a Kindle book one day.

Is it wrong that I look forward to new podcast episodes rather than the television shows now?

The only thing I didn't like about Morton was his blatant jealousy of Kevin Nash. He really had the blinkers on for that one.

Another point of view would be has any majorly successful star in WWE bashed Dunn. That may be a subjective category, but I think the answer is no.
-
What is it with Kevin Dunn being being painted as some sort of asshole as flavour of the month across Internet boards lately? When and why did this start? Have I missed something or are people just having fun throwing an obscure name out?

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3

I doubt it's anything to do with Amazon formatting. It's just an upload of a word document, no? -
I feel the opposite way. I think he could be quite dynamic and aggressive as a heel. He was also capable of taking a pounding when needed. or me his weak link was his character which at first was a blessing, and then a stale curse.

What interview are you referring to?

Ouch. Apologies to the person, I had no idea, I wouldn't of been so on the nose if I knew. -

Ring of Hell was an awful book written by a man who looked more than a little like an actual rat. -
Hogan / Flair Savage / Jake Roberts Undertaker vs Sid Are the changes I'd make. Bret vs Piper was perfectly booked and executed. If he were available, Marty vs Shawn would have also gone down a treat. And trying to get LOD on terms for a match also.

If memory serves, that was the preview issue.

I wouldn't feel sorry for Russon. He can get back into education after all, its not like he has suffered some accident which has seen him lose his writing hands. Learn to write a screenplay and try and get into independent film or something? Day time drama would be up his alley. Hell, there's nothing stopping him getting a regular job.

Watch you talkin' bout? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLrulcZ9UXY Yeah, I thought that was pretty over-the-top even back then before Awesome's death. And Joey and all the other ECW mutants should realize wrestlers leaving for actual paychecks weren't the reason their promotion went under. But Joey, as the voice of ECW, would have only been playing up to the "mutants" as you put it. Effectively, he was playing a character and catering to an audience. Joey Styles is easily one of the most sane, down to earth people involved in wrestling.

1998 ECW was very much a product of its time. Within that timeframe, there was plenty of action delivering the goods. Heat Wave 1998 pretty much encapsulates that time period for me, and its an excellent show which I feel holds up pretty well.

Watched the Heyman documentary. What a brilliant piece. It's been a long time since I've watched a wrestling docco that good.

Good: Mick Foley in Q1. Bad: The return of an out of place Austin. Ugly: New Blood Rising PPV.

What would have been a bigger draw (Mike Tyson)

Far from true. To this day he is one of the most iconic sports stars on the planet. Was the Oprah interview where he cried post 2010? I think it was. Basically, everything the man does will be a big deal until the day he dies. Why do you think Dana White films walking tours with him? He knows people want to watch Mike.
