Was this in the indies by any chance? I've heard a few people say he was a hoot on the indies.

You could make the logical argument that the entirety of a pro wrestling match is not believable.
-
Ah I see now. Quite the little read too. Thanks.

I was impressed to see the hair extensions of Maryse go flying.

PWO's very own whodunnit...

Drew McDonald I've seen live several times, including at a WCW taping, he was always a stand out, although he bores me on tape for some reason.

About what?

Awful news, I loved the magazine. I don't think I've had a holiday in the last 15 or so years where I haven't packed the latest copy for a beach. Fin Martin wrote on his website that he is moving on to other things, and a book which he is excited about. If you're reading this, thanks for all of your hard work Fin!

Not really. It's the one person you can put in the ring with KENTA for the Japanese press to really go crazy over, and make the signing a big deal. Plus, Jimmy Hart is great!

Glazing at this advert for hours and hours...

The more I hear about Benoit, the more he seems like a total jackass. It's amazing this stuff was hidden for so many years.

That was 1993. Evidently Bret had a great Mania in 1994 with Owen in the opener and closing the show winning the World title in a nice throw back to the year prior. That was a "good" that is strong in my mind.

LOL! In regards to Santo, simply put, there wasn't a BIGGER Mexican star, ever. I doubt there ever will be. He crossed barriers no other wrestler has been able to cross. I visited Mexico City about two years ago and I saw four pieces of street art of Santo, I'll try and upload later. He was a cultural icon, and still is. As said elsewhere, his films are on circulation on TV still. Blue Demon is a distant second, but still VERY popular. Not a knock on Blue Demon, just a statement of how big Santo was.

I'd be VERY happy with Brock vs Cena again. There was no Heyman last time round either for a different dynamic.
-
I'll go with Kendo Nagasaki (Thornley not Sakurada). He's what I tend to think of when I think of a masked wrestler. The allure of the "masked man" was never stronger in my opinion in terms of mystique and character.

Can we include face painted wrestlers, or strictly masks?

Does anyone still watch wrestling on videotapes?
Sidebottom replied to BigBadMick's topic in Pro Wrestling
One of the best part of watching on VHS via a tape trader for me was seeing what was on "after" my purchase. Say I bought a Dynamite Kid comp, usually the tape wouldn't be a brand new one and there would be another recording straight after it. Whether it be wrestling related, porn, Star Trek, there was usually something else. -
Add my name to the people who don't think the above video is pro wrestling. It's like if I set up a ring in my garden and cut my dick off - it's absurd.

1K 101 is up next I think, or it was the one before it perhaps? That has a nice ring to it... Should get some extra pyro and a Tatanka appearance!

I forgot just how good that elimination match was (I ended up watching the whole PPV). A lot of interesting personalities in that one, and brilliant performances from Shawn, Orton and Jericho. I wrote a piece about Orton in microscope and watching this match backs up my comments: there was a time when Orton was really, really fresh... sadly, it was over a decade ago. From the time he is walking to the ring checking out Keibler's ass behind Steiners back, to the gut punch stolen victory, he was class.

Curiosity got the better of me. Just put in the DVD, indeed he bleeds buckets.
-
It's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember Vince bleeding badly in his Survivor Series match with Undertaker back in 2003.

What's the criteria of this here? Are we talking about just what's on tape? Or star power, drawing power etc? If it's the latter, Andre wins hands down. But in terms of creating a body of work in the ring, bell to bell, Vader was far beyond Andre in terms of entertainment value, in my opinion. Matches like the one against Sting at GAB 1992, against Flair at Starcade in 1993, Inoki in 1996, and the series of matches between him and Takada and Foley are of a level which I personally haven't seen in any Andre match. Plus Vader pulled out the only watchable match of Jorge Gonzalez's career.
-
I'd give a nod to Vader pre 1994.

Does anybody give a shit about Randy Orton?
Sidebottom replied to Cross Face Chicken Wing's topic in The Microscope
For my money, he was never better than in 2003/4 as a cocky up and comer. he was often a highlight of the shows, had great matches, was fun to listen to and watch. In a word, he was fresh. But that was ten years ago sadly. Whilst he has had moments of greatness, for the most part he's just been there, hasn't he. He is somebody who would have benefited from the territory system by being able to leave the scene every so often ad come back in a different climate.
