  1. I liked the psychology with the finish, shame you don't see it copied that often. Larry Z pretending Hall's interference knocked him out so he can grab a choke was awesome.
  2. Great, great match. Shawn pinballs around early before he clips the casket on a crazy back body drop out of the ring. He had a long way to clear the casket there. He seems a touch slower after and they are a touch lost for just a sequence or two before Shawn uses powder out of the casket to take control. I loved the idea of DX planting stuff in the casket, and since HBK wouldn't want a heavier planted weapon used against him, he goes with the disposable powder. Piledriver on the steel steps is real impressive as well as the moonsault. Then we get all the casket spots: elbow drop from the turnbuckle into the casket, the Tombstone from the apron into the casket, just awesome. Undertaker fights off interference successfully until they just take out the ref and the Outlaws, and Boriquas come down. The Kane storytelling is what it is, but I'll admit, back in 98 when Kane cleared the ring you gave a sigh of relief, thinking Taker may actually win (for a brief moment). ****1/4
  3. Not seen in the footage here is an awesome brawl around the ringside area between Stone Cold and The Rock - really foreshadowing the next couple of years in the WWF. The limited crew meant a lot of guys went long (I think Bradshaw went 40+ too) but to their credit, they wove a lot of the current storylines into the actual Rumble match (Owen/Jarrett, Rock/Shamrock, Vader/Goldust). The Rock was the MVP of the match IMO although had quite the logic gap at the end when it was the final three. Why not help your Nation partner eliminate Austin and then surprisingly dump him? In the pantheon of Rumbles this one is below the median - Rich from Voices of Wrestling and I did a podcast on just the Rumble match as part of their Rewind series this past year. I went 2/2.5 out of 5 (and was the higher by far).
  4. Vader is really over as a face here and what a pop for the finish with Luna on his back. Great spot and we got plenty of replays of it. ***
  5. Shamrock is really blown up by the end of this one and while a very cheap and uncreative finish, I always thought it really put over the ankle lock. I mean, as soon as he gets it on Shawn, they storm the ring. So there was that. And of course the real hot ending with Owen's return is really cool.
  6. Kris' play-by-play breakdown and utter disgust of the key and coffin segment was great. I was laughing right along with you guys.

Was it a WWE.com staffer or the now-rumored Kevin Dunn that he hit?

  21. I love that the idea that MAYBE this Spike contact failed to tell his superiors has never crossed his mind. I'm sure that guy covered his ass after the email went out.
