  1. That stinks (Just kidding!) I wonder how Jeff would react to Memphis? It has the absurdity of the WWF and the grittiness of JCP. Question: What is your match selection process for this project? What determines what Jeff will watch? Just curious....
  2. Love the show! I started with episode 3 and then went back to the 1st two because it was so good. I almost fell out off my chair when Jeff compared Flair to Matt Damon. I immediately thought of Parv and at some point it would be cool to have guests pop in with match recommendations to see what Jeff thinks. Great job!!! BTW I think this format would be GREAT for lucha (See GWE). That seems to be a blind spot for a lot of people and I could see that working. Can't wait for Jeff seeing ECW or puro!
  3. Hogan vs Andre was already mentioned so I'll go with CM Punk over John Cena at Money In the Bank in Chicago. Punk was on his way out and the post match angle put it over the top and legitimately had the main stream buzzing.
  4. From what I remember Misawa did want to push himself down the card but all of the big financial backers remembered him at his peak and wanted to finance NOAH with Misawa on top so he had no choice but to be near the top to keep the promotion going.

    Mauro and JBL

A podcast dropped in my list (Return of the Soundboard - ESPN) and the guy who hosts apparently works for WWE now. He and his co-host were giving their opinions on this issue and it's mind-boggling bad. Basically anyone who matters in the WWE has nothing but good things to say about JBL, Roberts and Meltzer have an axe to grind, JBL was possibly "protecting a code" (if he did anything at all) just like Undertaker, Mark Henry, Kane, etc...would do. I listened to the segment (About 15 minutes) and then deleted it. It might be worth a listen to see how WWE could potentially try to spin this.
  6. Was mobile mentioned at all? I was curious about it coming to mobile.
  7. It's official: http://www.dualshockers.com/2017/03/02/fire-pro-wrestling-return/
  8. Commander, at first I thought the promo above was a heel promo but he turned babyface midway. Unreal!

  10. I picked up Chris Jericho's "The Best in the World: At What I Have No Idea" (3rd book) last night at Books A Million for $5.97. If there's a BAM near you and you haven't gotten to this yet it's at a great price!
  11. Jim Ross' Hell in the Cell commentary in the Undertaker/Mankind match.
  12. https://www.cnet.com/news/nintendo-switch-full-details-launch/ Towards the bottom they mention Suda51 is developing a wrestling game for the system. They previously made Super FirePro Special.
  13. Post a LOT more on this site considering I visit it every day!

  15. Another one for me (and I might be in the minority) but Daniel Bryan's ascension to the top of the WWE really sticks out to me. Bryan is getting himself over despite being stuck with Kane and the crowd wants to see him and the top so what does WWE do? The TOTAL opposite! They do this despite the fact that the "YES!" chant is going totally mainstream (I remember watching SportsCenter and seeing the ENTIRE Michigan State basketball arena doing the chant.). This culminates with Roman Reigns winning the Royal Rumble with the fans almost rioting while also getting The Rock booed as well. One would have thought that they learned their lesson the PREVIOUS YEAR when Bryan got thrown out and the crowd took a dump on that! I know in the end Bryan "won" but WWE bungled this in every imaginable way and then had the audacity to claim that this was "all a part of the plan". This was just insulting from WWE and showed how bad a wrestling monopoly could be, IMO.
  16. CM Punk vs. John Cena - After the "Pipe Bomb" promo and the MITB match people were genuinely hooked and it was getting mainstream attention with various articles from lapsed fans that are big names outside of the industry. WWE rushed it and put Punk back on the roster rather than keeping him an outsider holding the title hostage and THEN had HHH be the guy to beat him. Speaking of HHH..... Kurt Angle vs. HHH - I can't remember all the specifics but again the story was good and resonating beyond what WWE thought so it got screwed up. I thought it was because HHH was making a stink but I could be wrong. Now I'm also thinking about HHH vs. Booker T......I just need to go do something else for a bit.....LOL

  21. As ANOTHER Brian from SC (Columbia to be exact), I'll also chime in on Flair...... The most important thing you have to realize about SC is that there aren't any local professional teams to support. If you like baseball you're a Braves fan, pro football you're typically a Panthers fan although some are Falcons fans. When something national comes to town it's a BIG DEAL! Mid-Atlantic Wrestling was essentially our pro sports team that we followed every week and I would say Flair and Dusty were the co-captains. When Mid-Atlantic became WCW and was the only legitimate rival to the WWF there was a sense of pride from us about our product since we stuck with them through everything. With Dusty phasing himself out in later years we rallied behind Flair and wanted to pull for him even when he was being mistreated by management. WCW management NEVER truly grasped what Flair meant to the area so when Flair came out during that Nitro segment it was essentially the ENTIRE REGION saying "This has been and will always be OUR GUY". WCW always came back to Flair after others screwed things up (Sid with scissors, Sting not drawing as well as they thought, Hogan being the top guy upon arrival) and there's also the factor that we DESPERATELY wanted The Four Horsemen back. That angle had been dead for eons and it still resonates in SC to this day. So the fact that we were getting ALL of that in one segment and didn't know when/if we would ever get it again helped generate that response. BTW Bix, Mauldin is where Kevin Garnett was born and played high school hoops until his senior year when he went to Faragaut High School in Chicago with Ronnie Fields. That's typically what Mauldin is known for....IMO.
  22. This week's episode is about the WWF Steriod Trial. Haven't listened yet.
  23. I guess my question to the group ( And not in a sarcastic way ) is who's spot did Punk take? Gall was 2-0 and 3-0 in amateur fights. Are there specific fighters that you can point to and say that they should have been in the octagon instead of Punk? My thought is that the trade off of Punk's celebrity to the card would offset putting in a good 3-1 fighter for Gall to fight. I had no problems with Punk being there but I think going forward (And Dana White has said this now that the fight is over) Punk needs to fight on the minor leagues and gain experience if he's serious about becoming a fighter. Question: If Conner McGreggor was offered a lot of money by WWE to wrestle Apollo Crews would the same complaints be there about him not paying dues wrestling in ROH, PWG, etc...? I had ZERO problems with Punk calling out The Rock only because the first comeback seemed fine and since it was in Miami it made sense. The second comeback felt forced, the fans weren't calling for a rematch, it was in NYC so you already knew what the crowd pulse would be although you could argue that the market was MUCH bigger, and I feel Punk had proven his worth by that point and could have been a much bigger force for WWE if they had chosen to fully get behind him. At any rate I'm glad Punk's happy and in a better frame of mind.
  24. I'm pulling for Punk. He's been in big time events before so I don't think the pressure will get to him. Just hope he can withstand the early onslaught and maybe pop Gall with a quick elbow or two. We'll see how it goes but either way you have to give him props for leaving WWE and giving this a shot.
