I liked Fuchi vs. Chono 9/2/00. Some dislike Chono's performance but I thought the match was good. With the 7/17 Kojima vs. Tenryu match I enjoyed the build for that match. Kojima really wants to beat Tenryu so he gets Stan Hansen to teach him the ways of the lariat. I think he lariats watermelons or something. Later on towards the end of the match Kojima gets desperate and has to try the Hansen lariat to put Tenryu away. Fun stuff!

For me I think part of the problem with the Make-A-Wish perception and John Cena is that they promote Cena as if he's the ONLY one doing these. I don't see WWE showing or talking too much about anyone outside of Cena with Make-A-Wish. I guess the true problem is that WWE is SO heavy handed with everything it just rings false and makes you want to doubt it. Roman Reigns is cool? GREAT! We'll REALLY push him and show you HOW cool he is. John Cena helps kids? GREAT! We'll beat you over the head with it. Now having said all that I think it's really cool that he takes the time to do that. It's got to be tough to do and not get emotionally attached.

I didn't see the match yet but I've heard about Brock vs. Taker and the finish. Doesn't the finish suggest that Taker CAN'T beat Brock? The only time he's had the advantages were the low blows and some unintentional assistance from the referee. Based of what I've heard the rubber match could be Taker knowing he tapped and really didn't beat Brock and wanting to get a true victory and avenging his WM loss.....and this year's WM would be the best way to do that. I'll watch the match and give thoughts later...

That was crazy!! Who awarded Vince that giant plaque? Mean Gene just said he was awarded it. Was there no sanctioning body??

Question: What did The Observer and The Torch have to say about The Rock/John Cena interview segment on 2/27/12??
-
For me I would list the fact that WWE won't acknowledge that they put other promoters out of business in a very aggressive manner for the time. They act like it "just happened" but Vince was offering talent loads of money to get on the Rock-N-Wrestling train. There's nothing wrong with what he did but he always portrays WWF at that time WAY more sympathetic than it was.

Probably my biggest pet peeve is the over importance that is give to The Kilq. To me these guys started out to rule the wrestling world and actually accomplished that but got so selfish with their decision making that they ended up damaging the two top U.S. promotions at the time. What really galls me is that they paint themselves as such revolutionary figures but take NONE of the blame when it comes to their faults. The revisionist history that is given to these egomaniacs is unbearable. Who EXACTLY is clamoring for this Kliq DVD/Blu-Ray?? Nash and HHH always come off as the worst to me out of the group. Scott Hall just seems like a lot of wasted potential. I really liked Waltman as The Lightning/123 Kid an even X-Pac but they always seem to put him in the background. Michaels was a prick for a LONG time but seemed to me to have a genuine change of heart and tried to make amends while also having good matches. I get that these guys ARE important to some degree with U.S. wrestling history but to me it's no where NEAR the image they give off and it's really eye rolling for me at this point.

Piper was never my favorite but he was certainly someone I had a lot of respect for. When I think of Piper my mind immediately jumps to WrestleMania 1. I'm going off memory but somewhere in the beginning of the match the heels bail and Piper walks up the MSG aisle like he's leaving flipping off the crowd while wobbling his head arrogantly and the crowd just lets him have it! I always loved that moment for some reason. He was SUCH a guy you loved to hate. Piper also gets a lot of respect from me for being a family man. It was obvious how much he loved his wife and kids. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Free New Japan Wrestling game in Apple App Store
Lust Hogan replied to Lust Hogan's topic in Pro Wrestling Mostly
Some of the menus are in English. Looks like you can get injured and need to take care of your wrestlers. You can also buy skills and outfits. Looks like you can compete for titles and has a ranking ladder for each belt. I want to say that it syncs with real NJPW events like the UFC game but I'm not sure. The emails given in game are all Japanese. -
Go to iTunes and type in "NJPW" and there is a 3D NJ wrestling game for free!! It seems to be all in Japanese but I haven't finished all of the downloading just yet. I will keep you posted.

Dusty was an essential part of my childhood growing up in South Carolina in the 80's. He had the gift of gab and was extremely relatable. Dusty was my first wrestling hero and I lived and died with his every move. Dusty and Optimus Prime were my big heroes at the time but Dusty had a bionic elbow so -1 for Prime. One of the worst punishments I ever got was losing JCP wrestling for a month on TV from my Dad after my brother and I tried to recreate the Horsemen parking lot angle on each other with an aluminum bat. I would have rather gotten a spanking. I'm on vacation with my wife and all my friends (and even a few pastors) are texting me offering condolences like I'm in the Rhodes family or something. My wife has no clue who Dusty is but is realizing how important he was from the texts and items on CNN and ESPN. Truly a huge loss for wrestling but I'm glad I got to see him live in the 80's. He was magic on the mic and in the ring and will be sorely missed.

If Daniel Bryan can't wrestle again a career ending injury angle could get some strong heat. The best way to make Cena heel is to turn him into a modern day Mr. Wrestling II / Jumbo Tsuruta grumpy veteran not ready to give up his spot. He lost to Kevin Owens so there is an opening....
-
Since he's always portrayed as a winner I would make him obsessed with winning. Not in a cartoony, over the top way but rather more subtle. I thought him losing to The Rock the first time after talking so much trash would have been a good opening. You could double turn him and Rusev, although the angle needs to be bigger. Maybe him vs Taker in Taker's retirement match in Dallas if that happened? Brock legit pinned Taker. Cena cheating and then saying he "retired" Taker would be a good start. Cena should maybe be on a losing streak or somewhat desperate heading into the match so he would feel like he "needed" to win and would stress this in promos.

[crowd sourcing] Favourite ever promos

Has the podcast for this come and gone? Did I miss it? -
Overall I would give this an 8 out of 10. The extras are tremendous and truly encompass Lawler's career. The documentary was good but it seemed like it could have gone another hour. It gives a good history of Lawler and Memphis and after the Kaufman angle it goes to Superclash, Lawler to the WWF, commentating, Kat getting fired, his return and Hall of Fame induction, WWE Title and Wrestlemania match, heart attack (with footage of him getting shocked backstage) and the it ends. There was NO mention of the ECW feud but they do have the extras and a match against Tommy Dreamer. I would put this on par with Mid-South blu-ray. Lacking in a few areas but a great set.

RIP Tommy. The Clash 1 tag match with The Midnight Express was my favorite tag match for a long time. I wore out the tape I had watching it so much with my brother and Granddad. Phenomenal worker.

I remember the Crockett tapes being hardest to find. War Games and Bash 88 seemed to always be gone. Those were my favorites. -
Flair's podcast (WOOOOONation)
Lust Hogan replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Publications and Podcasts
The Bret podcast was really good. The two have patched up but the conversation was fun. Conrad asked Bret some tough questions like his thoughts on the Owen DVD and about Hulk Hogan. Flair seems to have gotten into a good groove and some of the questions are tougher and timely. Bret said he had no issue with the DVD and implied Martha was the only one still holding a grudge. Bret called Hogan a dirtbag and said Hogan wasn't trustworthy. Best Flair podcast yet!!
