fwiw the italics thing was happening before my post but yeah, agreed this is a great start and I am actually optimistic about the amount of content we'll get and the interface/app being improved upon
-
Not sure if I'll keep this after the initial 6 months. Something we haven't really mentioned is that, now, all of this content is OUT THERE. A lot of it is already available via the usual sources. The network is probably the greatest thing to ever happen, especially for someone who has been collecting high-quality rips of matches for years. That being said, obviously it's really nice to be able to just stream any PPV on my phone ANYTIME. Maybe eventually you'll be able to compile your own playlists of matches and angles. Pipe dreams?

Wrestlemania Predictions (It's never too early)
peachchaos replied to goodhelmet's topic in Pro Wrestling
Undertaker, Batista, Cena, Reigns and Triple H all go over. I really hope we get a Sheild-Wyatts doubles tag and a Cesaro-Sheamus slugfest. Usos defend on the pre-show. AJ drops her title. Big E will be there. Couldn't be less excited. -
But also, it's not as if the WM12 crowd was molten hot before the main; it was a weak show overall. Hell, an Ultimate Warrior squash was basically the highlight of the arena segments. (I do love that Iron Man, though.)

sort of the thesis of PWO, in a way

idk Loss, I always hated him. I barely watched wrestling during his run, though. I never had love for Orton either, but he's become such a solid worker that it's hard to put him down anymore. I can't recall any of Batista's work that jumped out at me in a positive way. Are there any exceptional Batista performances? Was his initial run successful enough to suggest he's a big enough star to win the Rumble and headline WrestleMania after hiatus?
-
face/heel...doesn't matter Batista is awful at nearly everything involved with professional wrestling.
-
The dive through the ropes into the DDT is a Zayn signature spot. He does it in nearly every match.
-
You mean nWo 2000?
-
Orton vs. Bryan - Title vs. Beard, should absolutely happen at Extreme Rules.
-
If a Benoit match comes on, I just treat it like he's the ultimate heel and cheer his opponent to no end. But really, it's easier to just skip it than to sit there in the dread. I feel much better about seeing Nancy. She was amazing and her career deserves some recognition.

Montreal is a bit too obvious, but that crowd was jacked and the match was fantastic. ECW November to Remember 1997, the Pittsburgh audience is psyched for hometown Shane Douglas to regain his belt. Then they realize they're getting a 20 minute Shane Douglas match. Crickets.

Most Successful Gimmick Based on an Actual Job

Flash Funk (and eventually, the Godfather) -
Did they not touch on the feud with Lawler in Memphis or did I just miss it?

Favorites: Race/Lawler '77, Hennig/Bockwinkel '86, Flair/Steamboat '89, Joe/Punk '04 Least Favorite (or Greatest Troll): Aries/Black '09

This was quite the refreshing listen. A few years ago, I wouldn't touch a John Cena match. Now he's easily one of my favorite performers. Strange, but this interview shows how dedicated he really is to the business.

Maybe it makes sense if we consider that Savage went out there and had a short match on purpose, not because he was told to, but for his own reasons of giving more time to the rest of the crew. Then Michaels went out there, burned time, and stole the show.
-
Hard to believe Hennig was mentioned with no reference to his face turn in '92. Great stuff. Warrior's return at WMVIII is the feel-good hit of the summer, and something they've never really attempted since. Until Punk returns this year, obviously.

What are the other notable/popular wrestling message boards?
peachchaos replied to Loss's topic in Pro Wrestling
I'd just like to second this statement. -
Yeah, the "suite" from WrestlePalooza '97 is probably the best hour of action ECW ever produced, with the Lawler appearance absolutely being the most exciting moment in company history. ECW also had the return of Raven in NYC on the second episode of TNN, which was pretty awesome. A few months later, The Sandman returned in another fun moment. And though it wasn't a surprise to anyone, Rick Rude's reveal at Barely Legal is just so well-done I mark out every time. And Sid's debut at Guilty as Charged '99. Pillman in '96. Taz going heel at N2R '95 and siding with Fonzie. Rude bringing out Bigelow to take the title from Douglas in '97, which culminated in Bigelow turning on Taz and rejoining the group, ala Horsemen/Sting. The Return of the Funker.

Kaufman & Hart swerving Lawler is also similar and great on so many levels.
-
Not a bad way to kick-start the roll-out. I'm a match guy. I've been collecting the highest quality rips of matches for years, so it will be nice to finally have some truly great stuff like Regal-Finlay '96 in top form. The ECW shows will always be weird with all the music cut out. Think I'll just stick to the original VHS for those. Over the Edge 1999 has to be an oversight.
-
yeah, great show guys though, you all seemed way higher on that Hogan/DD match, but I suppose that one does look pretty swell after all the other unspecials
-
I haven't seen it, but if the match has heat and Bryan is over, it obviously has meaning.
-
How do they feel about HHH? Well, everyone loves the Motorhead entrance and he's generally respected as an in-ring performer. I don't know anyone who would torture themselves with those 30 minute interview segments on RAW. Outside of that, we mostly just laugh at his backstage antics because like I said, none of us watch on a weekly basis so no one feels invested in the product. I have one friend who doesn't even know Daniel Bryan and is probably gonna be very weirded-out come Mania.
