  1. Which Kevin Sullivan is this?
  2. I thought this was an excellent 10 minute match between Kobashi and the more established at the time Kawada. The crowd really got in to this in the final stretch as did I, not knowing the outcome going in. Both wrestlers worked super hard, with some excellent Suplex's sprinkled in. ***3/4
  3. Meltzer comparing Ospreay with Hana was bullshit. Hana did nothing wrong at all, she was co-opted in to bullshit by the reality company and the fans went for her. Ospreay is people holding him to account. He badmouthed Pollyanna when promotions tried to book her, at the time he was a promoter, that went out of business owing talent, venues and fans a ton of money. Thousands. He booked the guy who Pollyanna accused of raping her. What Dave did is compare someone who did nothing wrong with some who blacklisted a sexual assault victim. He compared reality fans of a TV show telling someone to kill themselves to wrestling fans, to Ospreay who has adulation. He said the people who make the most noise care the least. There are a ton of fans who want promotions to do well and spend a ton of money complaining. You don't have to believe Scotty Wainwright sexual assaulted her or will Ospreay blackballed her, but you can't just dismiss those allegations like Dave did. There is so much circumstancual available, and this wasn't years ago either. It's so frustrating from a journalistic perspective. If we say you're good enough and you don't face consequences that encourages bad behaviour. The media shouldn't make exceptions. It's very enabling from people who should know better should t make exceptions for your friends. That's the issue here.
  4. Really been enjoying this series, especially the John Short tales.
  5. Great to have the show back.
  6. I think it's pointless adding anyone else. Dave's not going to put Jim Breaks back on either, rightly or wrongly.
  7. I've had US voters reach me out to me privately who wanted me to convince them to vote Daddy, so it's more than "the lulz".
  8. I couldn't vote for anyone else really until either Pallo or Daddy got it. Rocco really doesn't have an actual HoF case, he's a level down in my eyes.
  9. I had him on the first draft of my ballot this year, then after more thought, felt he should go on the ballot with David and Kevin rather than as singularly.
  10. GREAT Episode! Especially the Other USA and WCW sections with Scott Bowden.
  11. My ballot: I FOLLOWED THE HISTORICAL PERFORMERS ERA CANDIDATES X Sputnik Monroe Enrique Torres Von Brauners & Saul Weingeroff Johnny "Wrestling II" Walker Bearcat Wright Wild Bull Curry I FOLLOWED THE MODERN PERFORMERS IN U.S/CANADA CANDIDATES X Junkyard Dog I FOLLOWED WRESTLING IN EUROPE/AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND/PACIFIC ISLANDS/AFRICA X Big Daddy Jackie Pallo Mario Milano NON-WRESTLERS Stanley Weston Jim Crockett Jr. Howard Finkel Jimmy Hart Jerry Jarrett
  12. New Jack was one of the best promos in Pro Wrestling during this period.
  13. .
  14. Managed to listen to Episode 3: Memphis Quick Hits, and really enjoyed it. Plenty of little nuggets of information I didn't know as well as Jerry saying exactly what he thought of everyone brought up, pretty much as candid as I'd hope. Great work Sean, you and Jerry have a good rapport and looking forward to listening to more shows.
  15. This is wonderful news. You have my buy in and full support.
  16. You don't think there's a huge difference of talent between a guy who's able to execute a script and a guy who's able to put his own match together or even call it in the ring ? There is but since we arent privy to the details of how matches are put together most of the time, I can only call what I see. Even if you know you're comparing Apples to Oranges if you're comparing a New Japan match vs. a WWE match based on one having no agent layout / input vs. one that you know does?
  17. If the footage was available I'd probably say Bockwinkel.
  18. On the latest WOR he suggested Bryan leaving in September wouldn't necessarily be a bad idea.
  19. Pitbull Johnson Well seeing that gimp being mentioned on here was unexpected. He bought some shows from Hammerlock when I was there in 1996. They were 'interesting' to say the least. Not least for him sitting taking money at the door, writing TICKITT in big letters on a lined pad, then tearing the pages off and handing them to the bemused punters. Not before trying to flog them promo pictures of himself standing in his garden, with a garden gnome and his neighbours looking over the fence in the background. He was from Sheerness, on the Isle of Sheppey, but couldn't pronounce the letter H, so ended up being from Seerness, on the Isle of Seppey. He also formed a very popular up and coming tag team with Alex Sane, called the Seppey Lads. He also advertised a ladder match as the main event of one show, then forgot to bring the ladder. Hammerlock MC Dean Ayass officially became my hero on that night, as he called Pitbull out to the ring before the main event. He thought Dean was going to thank him for all his efforts in promoting the show, etc. Dean then said "Now, ladies and gentlemen, as you know, we were supposed to have a ladder match for you here tonight. Unfortunately, we haven't got that match for you tonight....and here to explain why is Ian 'Pitbull' Johnson." Dean then handed him the microphone and watched him stand there like a deer caught in the headlights for about a minute, before he finally stammered "Errrr, forgot the ladder". He was also arrested whilst on the run from the law, when he promoted a wrestling show and put himself all over the posters. He couldn't work out how they'd found him! Memories I remember you telling me about this back in the day.
  20. Wonderful thread.
  21. Bruno Sammartino was someone who transcended Pro Wrestling, a true cultural icon. RIP
  22. I thought the show was solid and consistent throughout. It was better than I expected, and to be fair it had no hope of delivering what we got for WK11, however I felt some of the booking choices were odd. I guess I'll have to wait and see how they play out, but honestly, what a waste of Jay White if he wasn't going to go over Tanahashi.
