I told the story to him when we did the Powerslam special episode on Wrestling Eye with him, Lister and Greg Lambert which unfortunately isn't online as I've lost my master copy

I was trading with Rob back then, but didn't get that tape at the time. I was more busy getting FMW, ECW and AJPW tapes. Side note: I rang him up at 7.30am in the morning once before school, asking if he had ECW's Heatwave 1995, he wasn't best pleased because a. I woke him up & b. The commercial tapes didn't surface for months after the event. In my defence, I assumed because PS "reviewed" the show and they published photos that it was available. Basically Fin was getting reports from George Tahinos and others and didn't actually stipulate he himself hadn't seen these shows. I've laughed about it Rob in recent years.

I went in to this match expecting them not to gel well, and I was glad I was wrong. Always a fan of Tenryu's old man dives, and he didn't disappoint in this match. Great point from Chad, this did feel like a G1 block match, both in terms of length and match quality. Nice to see a clean finish in match pitting two promotions top stars against each other. ***1/4

Good stiff short TV match. We are only 4 months removed from Tazz's debut and he's already losing in short (pun intended) fashion. **

[2000-04-22-WCW-Worldwide] PG-13 & The Frog vs Jung Dragons
cheapshot replied to soup23's topic in April 2000
Fun quick TV match. Loved the finish. PG-13 are always good value as bumping machines. Jamie Noble's faux Karate shtick is always fun. Never ever seen Frog before, but he didn't seem out of place. -
[2000-04-29-Saitama Pro] Survival Tobita vs Bauxite Medium
cheapshot replied to soup23's topic in April 2000
This was different, thought I'd HATE it but actually it was okay, even slightly entertaining, if a little absurd. The trash can shots were brutal. Enjoyed the crowd who reacted like they would in a straight match. I doubt I'd ever watch something like this again though. N/R -
[2000-04-15-FWA] El Hijo del Santo vs Mike Quackenbush
cheapshot replied to soup23's topic in April 2000
Thought I'd check this match out to see how well Quack could hang with Santo. Well, Santo completely carried him, that's no disrespect to Quack, but he was really off on a few things, and some of his strikes looked really weak. However, he was fairly green at this point still. It was cool to see Santo in this setting. Match didn't drag and held my attention. **1/2 -
Enjoyed this more than I thought I would, even with the two referee bumps that worked within the context of the match. Nice to see outside the actual studio where they brawled, as I am a sucker for those type of things. First time seeing Ali, and thought Wolfie D was great bumping for him, especially off the initial Chokeslam. **1/2

A glaring omission, we forgot to list Chris Cruise as a WCW commentator.

Another great show by JT and Jeff. Happy that Jeff appreciates Adrian Adonis. JT, I am hoping for a 180 on his Terry Funk takes from the other week though! All in all I am really digging this show. JT is a great teacher to have. If it was me, I wouldn't be able to resist ribbing Jeff with the odd white lie just to hear his reaction. "Yeah, didn't you know Adrian Adonis lost a ton of weight and went to WCW as Brian Pillman"

I was confused who was playing heel and face in this match, nevertheless it was a fun TV match that was action packed. The moonsault landing was a little clunky regarding the sell, however that's a minor quibble. The commentators put both guys over well in this. **3/4

I thought this was a surprisingly fun brawl. Hogan was super motivated. However the finish didn't really help Awesome at all, but kept the interest with Kidman leading up to the PPV. **3/4

Fun for what it was, short enough where I didn't lose attention. I thought the first stop sign shot my AJ was vicious as hell, and it was lucky the sign didn't fly off in to the crowd. **1/2

A Battle Royal contested by what was basically a load of fat out of shape wrestlers in t-shirts. AJ Styles being insulted and just standing there taking it kinda killed any credibility he had before the match started. Wildside had it's flashes of good/great, but this wasn't it, just a load of dudes working sloppily who can't punch for toffee.

[2000-02-05-WCW-Saturday Night] Steven Regal vs Fidel Sierra
cheapshot replied to soup23's topic in February 2000
I thought that Regal's facials when Sierra was working him over were great. A nothing match all in all save the awesome Regal pose pushing his bicep up after he won the match. -
I hated the camera work during the 3 Count dancing gimmick at the start of the match, looked eally looked low rent in my view. I bet Kevin Dunn would have loved it though. Fun TV match with PG-13 always being great value. Awesome looking Frog Splash from Shane Helms during the match. Awful finish, Evan Karagias stunk, and his timing was off by about 15 seconds as he stood on the apron clutching a stop sign. It was like time stood still. Brought the match down a peg for me.

[2000-01-22-WCW-Saturday Night] PG-13 vs David Flair & Crowbar
cheapshot replied to soup23's topic in January 2000
I actually enjoyed this for what it was. David Flair is awkward, but he didn't stick out to the point where it was embarrassing. I enjoyed J.C Ice celebrating thinking his team won for what seemed liked ages after the bell rang. *1/2 -

Love the show guys! Shouting at my phone saying "no! no! no!" when Jeff was talking about Terry Funk. Looking forward to where this heads.
