Cena comes across as a better human being than Punk. Punk wishes he was Shawn Michaels back in 1988 writing horrible things on the back of fan's denim jacket for his own amusement. I don't think Punk is that bad. While I wouldn't call him an overly kind person towards the audience, I can't see him doing something like that or throwing a knee brace at someone's family member who has cancer. I think in a different era he'd be worse than he is now.

This isn't a new thing you know.

That has always been my biggest gripe/bitch about Meltzer. I guess when you have been in the business so long you think everything is a work and face/heel crap. I believe he said that Lebron James turned heel when he did "The Decision" a couple years ago. The idea that the last 3 months of Ronda Rousey being a complete bitch and hated was part of some "storyline" or "building a character" is just laughable. Sometimes being a jerk means you are a jerk not pretending to be one like a "heel" She understands how she needs to stay relevant and make money, a lot of what she's done has been pre-mediated. Don't get me wrong, she might be bitch too, but she knows by playing a role she will be remembered more as well as knowing that being the "heel" champ and have challengers "chase" her for the title could make her more money than just being a "white meat babyface". This seems to be working well. More chatter about Rousey than Weidman after the show. Yes but the main premise of being a "heel" is that you are pretending to be an asshole or arrogant or evil or whatever. Does anyone really believe that Rousey is pretending to be something she isn't. When she said "real mean vs fake nice", she wasn't bullshitting about either her or Meisha She's just extenuating her own personality. Nothing wrong with that.

Slightly off topic, but I always loved Manami Toyota's Ocean Cyclone Suplex.

I was given the History Of WWE Vol 1&2 books. Result!

It was Paul Diamond *I THINK*. He won TWA (Texas) Heavyweight title a couple of times with that gimmick too. Seriously though, do you think that Michaels would rather work with Diamond or one of Shannon Moore's mates? Edit: Here's the match, and it's Diamond: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/k2PDhaGG3tUhpu4T6YU

First thought as I listen, you both said you couldn't see Michaels as a future world champion as compared to the champions of the time (Warrior, Flair and Bockwinkel). Michaels is 6'1 - Bockwinkel is 5'11 and Flair is 6'1 also so can you elaborate a little more on those comments? Was it a weight factor? Michaels was never tiny and also had a defined physique, and I wouldn't say he was hugely smaller compared to Flair and Bock.

Excellent! Another WWTP - Has Xmas come early? I shall give this a whirl today! I hope you discussed his brown tights.

The Jim Cornette Experience
cheapshot replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Alex Shane is behind this. The venue in London is where the Jim Ross one was held. VIP were £35 + booking fee. It's mental that Cornette would be more than Ross by such a margin. Typical Alex Shane. -
Not a huge deal is known about Iron Mike other than he was well thought of by everyone and a really good heel. I thought Ted Jr was always really bland and have not seen Ted's other sons in action. Don't think they are very high on the list tbh. Side note: Mike DiBiase once had a 1 hour, 44 minute Texas Death Match with Dory Funk Sr. (with 16 falls)..

I thought you'd of said the DiBiase's parv!

The BT Sport UFC coverage isn't the best; they are using some UK studio gimmick during shows.

To me, via twitter, he comes across as a poor man's CM Punk with his putdowns etc. Basically he's a bit of a cunt. I see why he is still being used on F4W, as he is kinda relevant still, but hopefully he'll get phased out in the next few years like Buddy Wayne did previously. -
To clarify, BT Sport have rights to the Champions League FROM 2015. AND their channel is free to people who have BT Internet, which according to the market share is 31.5% of the UK Broadband market. They are, like others all after new content to fill up schedules, but I just cannot see them leaving Sky at this stage of the game, especially with the links they have with Sky to Sky Box Office. BT would have to come in a huge offer to turn WWE's head. The deal between WWE and Sky is up in about 12 months. The two have been partners for over 25 years now. I just can't see WWE completely walking away from Sky. I could however, see them dish out certain programming to other channels, but not the whole caboodle, which is what BT would require. Plus with WWE doing more "original" programming such as Total Divas and the enigma that is Legends House, neither would be a fit on BT Sports, but would be totally fine on Sky Living or Sky One.
-
The deal isn't up in the UK. They'd be stupid to leave Sky anyway if it was, unless it was to move to a free to air channel, which isn't likely.
-
Disney most likely equates to ESPN or A&E to be honest. RAW won't be following Fantasia any time soon.
-
Many of you will be aware that the TV rights deals to RAW, Smackdown, Total Divas etc. will be coming up for grabs with a decision scheduled for March 4th. (unless they reach a deal to stay on USA for RAW which has to be made by Feb 15th) Potential suitors include Disney, Viacom and Discovery. The Variety article that has been doing the rounds over the last day or so was clearly penned by WWE P.R so anything in that should be taken with a pinch of salt. Where do people see the products ending up and also do you think that they'll increase the rights fee's significantly in line with other sports / companies ?
