I think a "how did they get a job" thread would apply to these chaps. Nepotism may be the answer however.

I was just going to suggest that, if only to save you a few bucks. It may of been Lister who created the template for formatting. I have a huge box full of WON's from 1997-2004 that is just collecting dust, I'd probably revisit them if they were online (which to be honest Jan 1997 will be in a few months). I can understand the appeal of having a physical copy though. If you have a complete-ish set, I'll take them off your hands.... I do, but I think the shipping wouldn't be worth it for you, UK based you see. Plus we got the copies FAXED over from Dave in the dark ages and the print quality of some of the UK distributors during this time was, let's just say, less than perfect. Still readable however.

So, you get the Observer via post still? Just out of curiosity why do you do this? Rovert kindly told me that the HoF issue should hopefully land between 5pm - 1am EST.

This actually could be a fun project that would most definitely generate debate. Big Daddy as one of the class of 2013, right?
-
To be fair though, not all Rose footage was as freely available for consumption in 1996 as it is today.

I loved the GIANT chair spot that was used in that feud.
-
I think I'm just having one of those days!

Glad someone else said this. I'm with you there Loss. Dreading sitting through GAB 92 agian for this reason. Oh Parv, Oh Loss. I loved there WCW run in 1992 and feud with The Steiners. I also loved their match vs. Misawa and Kawada in Jan '93 for the tag straps in AJ.

I concur, IRS is second on my ballot Not for me. The tie spot he does with faces where Heenan always said "Look! He's grabbing his tongue!" made him entertaining to me in a strange way.

Yes absolutely. Triple H is on screen way too much given his talent level. That's as good of criteria as any on an opinion question. He bores the hell out of me! As for that saying, there's also plenty of American sayings I've never heard of either Well I can't argue with your opinion I guess. *cough*but you're wrong*cough*

I heard all these fables about Brody when I started following wrestling. Then when I saw him, I was completely disappointed. Compared to Funk, Lawler et al. He can't brawl his way out of a paper bag. Not my cup of tea at all.
-
Just realised, that's because it's a British/Australian saying.
-
I've never heard of that saying but I'll stick with Triple H Triple H has bored me for the longest amount of time. Take 7-10 minutes off of almost every big match he's had for the past 12-15 years and I wouldn't have too much of a problem with him. So using that criteria, because his matches run too long for your tastes he is the most boring of all time?
-
I am shocked that people actually think Triple H is the most BORING WRESTLER OF ALL TIME. I guess saying the old saying 'It's horses for courses' is quite apt right now.

I used to love those crazy 'Gym War' shows he ran in that tiny unit that also housed Michael Modest (as seem on Beyond The Mat) -I remember getting them in about 1997 from someone or another. I also remember Vic Grimes getting clotheslined by a moving car door. RIP Roland. -
Dory. I would of said Tito, but then I started watching his '84 feud vs. Valentine and I quickly realised the error of my ways.

Loved the story on Austin's podcast that Bruce Pritchard tells about how Doink came about because Borne showed up to a WWF show looking miserable so Road Warrior Hawk started calling him Krusty the Clown then pitched the idea to Vince... I had never heard that story as well FLIK until I heard Bruce Prichard tell it on Austin's podcast. Out of interest *IF* Hawk did indeed see Bourne looking Krusty-Esque I don't think it would be for WWF as Doink's debut was in October 12th 1992 on a Superstars taping, when he was shown in the crowd. Bourne did not work the WWF in 1992 before this. Earlier in the year Bourne was in WCW as Big Josh until August 10, 1992. In 1992 Hawk did not appear for WCW when Bourne was working as Josh so I am unsure where there paths would of crossed for Hawk to see Bourne backstage slumped look miserable. Edit: I asked Bruce via Twitter and his response was: "WWF in Hamilton Ontario 92 or 93". I checked again and Hawk didn't work Hamilton at all in 1992 for WWF. Found these two: WWF @ Hamilton, Ontario - Copps Coliseum - January 12, 1992 WWF IC Champion Bret Hart & WWF Tag Team Champions the Legion of Doom defeated the Jacques Rougeau & the Natural Disasters when Bret pinned Rougeau WWF @ Hamilton, Ontario - Copps Coliseum - June 1, 1992 (9,000) WWF Superstars taping: The Legion of Doom defeated Bobby Starr & Bob Knight Thanks for this, the only way Bourne would of crossed paths with Hawk would of been for one or the other being backstage and at the others shows. I am slightly dubious of this story, that's all.

I noted that Dave completely brushed of AJ to Bryan on the latest Radio show. AJ will be off the ballot I'd guess. I want to see *IF* Tanahashi makes it (which to be fair, if you look at Mookie's recent analysis of NJ iPPV he isn't attributed as the main draw) I want to see Karl Stern's meltdown. Dick should of made it in 1996. Much like Colon and Big Daddy but that's a debate for another time, that to be fair, has already been done to death.

Tito Santana vs Rick Martel vs Ricky Steamboat

You may be right. I have no issues about getting my conceptions of someone changed. What is the date of the first match in the feud? -

Furnas run here feels pretty perplexing overall. He was 31 years old and had been in the business for around 4 years so it is not like he was some green rookie. I would be interested if there is any good Furnas singles matches from Continental or anywhere else previous to this run. I haven't seen the footage so I don't know but the his run in WCW really ended abruptly. Check out this: - Doug Furnas vs. Detroit Demolition (Randy Culley) from early '88 in Continental -

To me, when I think Tito, I think boring side headlock spots, where the heel always gets a few two counts on him. I think Martel and Steamboat trounce him on the whole. -

So, I have decided to get out of my viewing "comfort zone" and start watching territories I haven't seen much of. First of is Portland (1980 onward) There is plenty for me to sink my teeth into via youtube currently. I am excited to see actually HOW good is Buddy Rose. If I have anything worthwhile to say after I have digested some footage I will be sure to post in the relevant Portland thread. -
