Yeah, criticizing AEW for doing something that's genuinely different from WWE and can set them apart is baffling to me. Isn't that kinda the whole point of an alternative?
-
But anyway, yeah, $50 is too much. I don't care that "PPVs were $50 back in the day." Guess what: we're no longer "back in the day." The world has changed. I was actually going to order this, but the sticker shock for what feels like a placeholder show until TNT is too much for me to swallow + it's significantly cheaper on FITE in the rest of the world*, which pisses me off too. *including Canada, so if FITE does on-demand, the Raptors guy above can order it for cheap and watch later. Alas, Joey Ryan and his penis might be factored into the discounted price.

I never got the impression that it would have been Bryan vs. Ali at Mania though. My best guess is that we would've gotten Bryan vs. KO at the big show. Remember those weird vignettes KO was doing? When you think about it, they were all pro-consumerism - which is exactly what Bryan was railing against at the time.

And the more likely scenario, anyway, is that IF Bayley is seen as a "bitch," it's because the good ol' boys network in rasslin' isn't used to a woman speaking up for herself and being assertive about her character.
-
Well, I mean, no one can possibly be as nice as the childlike Bayley character. Good to see kayfabe is still alive and well though, and people appear to be genuinely shocked that Pamela Martinez is *gasp* actually an adult with the same flaws and bad days the rest of us have.
-
Cody took a weird shot at Bayley, of all people, during a press conference about her inflatable tube men entrance and "pretending to be nice." He later had to dial it back on Twitter, and even Kyla Rae defended Bayley as her hero and inspiration. I have no idea what the point was, as yapping about Bayley isn't a good look and doesn't enhance Double or Nothing in any way. "Controversy creates cash" mindset maybe? Still a misfire IMO.

Imagine if Jerry McDevitt ever had a falling out with WWE. He (literally?) knows where the bodies are buried.
-
WWE Media Statement Translation: WWE will get away scott free again because Konstantine Kyros is a scamming snake oil salesman of a lawyer. It's a shame someone honest and credible wasn't behind any of these suits. It would be a different story then.

Jericho vs. Glacier for the AEW World Title on TNT live! If they want to recreate WCW and Nitro, that's the way to do it!!!
-
Kevin Owens and Daniel Bryan are refusing to work the Saudi blood money show. (Sami Zayn obviously won't be there either.) Is it such a blatant attempt though? Taker vs. Goldberg is absolutely a WrestleMania-level match. Geeks will say "not from a workrate rasslin' perspective" but those fans don't and never have mattered. I would've been stoked to see it as a spectacle at Mania. Ditto for the HBK comeback. Alas, I never will - because I refuse to watch Saudi shows (I saw the first one, which I'm glad I did, only because I can say I experienced the most jaw-dropping, misguided, one-sided, shortsighted propaganda I have ever seen occur in my lifetime).
-
What sucks about these Saudi shows - well, besides everything - is that Sami Zayn will probably never get a real sustained run with the World Title because he can't defend it in Saudi.
-
Because even though everyone knows wrestling is fake, no one likes being reminded so blatantly. It was impossible to suspend disbelief for that angle because everyone knew Rusev and Lana were together in real life. Plus, Dolph - the babyface - was made to look like a sleazy gigolo for that entire angle.
-
I disagree. Dolph had one World Title reign, and it was torpedoed quickly by a concussion. Midcard-wise, they've both had relatively the same amount of success.
-
IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME!!! I actually loved that promo from Dolph. It felt like a "shoot" in that you know he probably really does feel that way. Shame it's a once and done for that Saudi bloody money.
-
This 24-7 stupidity is actually growing on me a little bit.
-
A shame if this is wasted on the Saudi show.
-
Wasn't expecting Dolph to return and beat the living shit out of Kofi. If they had booked Dolph like that years ago, they may have been able to salvage him.
-
I'd rather not wade through a sea of stupidity. Boards like this are much more my style, where there's very little stupidity and what's there gets stamped out pretty quickly. There are definitely a lot of great non-wrestling Reddit pages, but have you found any good ones for wrestling?
-
FWIW, this got picked up by the Survivor Reddit page (and I am assuming/hoping other more mainstream Survivor sources as well). I doubt this will be the thing that bites Vince and the company in the ass, but between this and John Oliver gaining traction, maybe something will finally give somewhere?
-
This is actually being discussed in the Ashley Massaro RIP thread. Yes, it is disgusting. No, nothing will be done about it.
-
Is running around like Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner really better though? With that said, props to EC3 for some gloriously goofy facial expressions during the Roode-Truth skit. Doesn't get him any closer to the main event, but it's genuinely funny - and you have to give him credit for embracing the shit out of this. Edit: I've giffed it. Where is good for wrestling on reddit? I signed up for reddit a few months ago but have avoided wrestling there like the plague. I assumed any major wrestling groups on reddit would be a cesspool. Is that wrong?
-
Nope. All of that came out after his second run. Unless there was some random Raw appearance I missed?
-
Not after his bizarre scandal.

The 24/7 Title killed this thread!
