Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard
C.S. replied to Lust Hogan's topic in Publications and Podcasts
This is the WWE, where tournaments have always sucked. Yes, you can point to a few isolated good matches and some great winners, but let's say there have been 100 King of the Ring tournament matches over the years - maybe 5 of them were actual classics. -
I also miss you, Dean.

Under-the-radar wrestling book recommendations
C.S. replied to Cross Face Chicken Wing's topic in Pro Wrestling
Amazon's traditional Black Friday/Prime Day coupon code: NOVBOOK18 for $5 off a $20+ book order. I'm thinking of using it to get the Nitro book. One note: For some reason, using coupon codes seems to take away your "verified purchase" status if you review the book, if you care about such things. Made me look like an illicit bootlegger when I reviewed Liam O'Rourke's Pillman book, even though I did purchase it legitimately from Amazon. Might've just been a glitch at the time though. Who knows? -
Enzo would've been perfect for Slim Jim.

Daniel Bryan as a star post-comeback: Pushes, Feuds, Matches and etc.
C.S. replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
WWE has no clue how to book a babyface. See: Reigns, Roman Zayn, Sami Strowman, Braun Hugger, Bayley And now Bryan, Daniel How do you constantly fuck this up? HOW? -
To be fair, Boss Man was a new feud for him, and Jeff Jarrett and especially Billy Gunn were major steps down compared to Taker/HHH/Foley/etc. I realize you gotta work with new talent to keep things fresh, but J-E-Double-F-Ha Ha-J-A-Double R-Ha Ha-E-Double T and Mr. Ass weren't the answer (even as once-off opponents on a b-level PPV or something).

Booker T is a fucking imbecile. "And what the H**l was that journalist doing over there anyway, after his controversial comments?” https://www.pwpodcasts.com/2018/11/02/recap-and-review-heated-conversations-with-booker-t-with-ariel-helwani-on-getting-a-lifetime-ban-from-ufc-a-potential-brock-lesnar-daniel-cormier-fight-bookers-thoughts-on-roman-reigns-crown-jew/

That isn't Virgil...

This is what the term "wrestling bubble" looks like: From perennial lackey, stooge, and second banana Tommy Dreamer: "Putting smiles on people's faces." Pure WWE-speak. Someone's sure hard-up for a job at the Performance Center...
-
Just got this e-mail from WWE Network: It pretty much encapsulates every single issue the tone deaf WWE has right now.
-
It'll never happen because one kiss-ass would stooge the rest off, and the whole thing would fall apart.
-
@IpponDropkick Not that I know of, unfortunately - at least not on Kindle. If it had come out a few years later, there probably would've been an ebook. It's becoming more common now for books with heavy picture/art content to get ebooks, but that wasn't really the case when Mondo Lucha A Go-Go came out in 2007.

WWE TV 10/29 - 11/4 warning: actual political rant inside
C.S. replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
I'm sorry to hear about what's happening in Brazil, @KawadaSmile. Seems the whole world is going to hell in a handbasket. :\ -
I have this one: Mondo Lucha A Go-Go: The Bizarre and Honorable World of Wild Mexican Wrestling by Dan Madigan https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B002UXS0FM/ I can't speak to its accuracy, but I remember it being really fun to go through. The author is an ex-WWE writer, for whatever that's worth. The link has recommendations to other lucha books, so you can go down the lucha rabbit hole that way and see if anything strikes your fancy. Edit: Just realized you were asking about ebooks. This obviously doesn't qualify because it's more of a glossy photo book. But the other recommendations in the link above may also have ebooks.

Well, they've certainly done that. Nothing about Hero has impressed me in NXT. Only Sami Callihan, Austin Aries, and James Storm (in his one appearance) have been worse fits. Sure, but why not? She essentially retired in her prime, if not before her prime.
-
If Hero can coach and wrestle, why can't Sara Amato/Del Rey? She was hyped as the best women's wrestler in the world a few years ago. Then she stops wrestling to take a coaching job? I can understand the financial security reasons for doing that, obviously - but after the so-called "Evolution" went into full swing, you'd think someone with her look/body type/whatever it is would be more accepted as a wrestler in NXT/WWE. Just seems weird, only because she was hyped as the next big thing in-ring for a while there.

Not a blow away show by any means, but a fun night so far. Charlotte vs. Becky has unfortunately devolved into boring WWE garbage match formula bullshit though. :\ You have no idea what the fuck you're talking about as it relates to either me or El-P. You clearly haven't read our posts. You have no moral high ground when you're clearly here to troll and be a self-righteous dickhead. Try that gimmick with someone else, because it ain't working with me, bub.

Idiotic post. I cancelled the Network, but my membership doesn't end for a few more days. They already have my money, so yeah, I'll get my money's worth. This show is a nice last hurrah for me (for a while, anyway). This. Thank you.

Absolutely. Wouldn't want Steph's kids googling Chyna. Just like Steph wouldn't want them googling that their mother is firmly on the wrong side of history by making a "business decision" to work with a backward, murderous regime. It's all okay though, because she and she alone decided to #givedivasachance and is the sole reason the Divas Revolution turned into the Women's Evolution we are seeing tonight.
-
Beth said she was the first woman to compete in the men's Royal Rumble. I thought that was Chyna?

The show looks like pink butterfly shit, but to those within the WWE bubble, it's very easy to see why they'd think Ronda vs. Nikki is both a marquee match and one the fans would get excited about. After all, they've used the same formula with the men: new vs. old - Cena vs. Rock, Rock vs. Hogan, etc.
