  1. This one was structured a lot like the Inoue match I saw earlier: each woman takes turns destroying the other's leg for the first part of the bout, then tries all manner of pinning predicaments in the second. Hokuto eventually takes the win with what could most accurately be called a tombstone powerdriver, which means you start your opponent in powerslam position, but instead of slamming them on their back you drop them right on their head. I'm surprised we haven't seen that finisher more often, as it looks absolutely brutal. Speaking of brutal, Hokuto's half crab has to be the most painful I've ever seen; here, she almost stretches Inoue's leg right over her own head. I could almost feel my own leg muscles tearing!
  2. I'm not sure if this is the match Timbo means or not. This one has Russian commentary and graphics, of all things, and has very little action outside of a Kitao knee to the midsection and throw in the second round and Takada's kick that knocks Kitao out in the third. Other than that, these two spend most of their time trying to figure out how to tie up with each other and sitting in a hold when they manage to grab one. The knowledge that I was watching a Russian TV broadcast of the match excited me more than the match itself.
  3. Could someone put this on YouTube, please?
  4. I've heard that AJW's house style doesn't allow for prolonged selling; even if a body part has been all but crippled, the girls are still expected to forget that when it comes time for the nearfall exchange at the end. Anyway, that doesn't take away from Inoue's first-rate work on Yoshida's knee; it's so bad at one point that even simple bumps cause Yoshida agony. In a nice twist, Inoue turns her own ankle on a dive to the outside, but Yoshida's in too much pain of her own to follow up. Despite what I said above, Yoshida manages to sell her knee enough during the finishing sequence that the audience is reminded that something's wrong with it, which is all you can expect. She manages to block out the pain enough to go up to the top and hit several moves, including the double underhook brainbuster that gets her the winning three-count and the title. I'd never seen either worker before, but this performance is enough to make me want to see both of them again, either in a rematch or against others. Not quite a great match, but on the high end of very good.
  5. I'd like to watch this match, but the Dailymotion copy makes my browser freeze. Could someone post it on YouTube or give me a YouTube link? (Before anyone asks what browser I'm using, it's not relevant because I'm not installing a new one just to watch some wrestling matches.)
  6. I think you saw the April match, Pete, because there's nothing on YouTube for these four on 1/5/92. If someone could link to a video of this match somewhere, I'd appreciate it. (YouTube only, please.)
