[1992-04-04-WWF-Superstars] Interview: Ric Flair & Mr Perfect
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
I enjoyed how Flair brought up Jack Tunney and blurring out the belt. Great promo. -
Vince is really good at these serious kinds of interviews, even if he comes across as a little hammy. Liz did great and makes herself really sympathetic.

[1992-04-04-WWF-Superstars] Hulk Hogan career retrospective
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
They showed the Warrior loss so they could say Hulk was gracious in defeat. I'll let you decide how true that is. Hulk actually is more compelling for me when he's toned down, even if I know he's 100% full of shit.- 13 replies

[1992-04-04-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler & Jeff Jarrett and The Moondogs
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
Moondog mayhem again after Jarrett slaps Lee and the babyfaces undress him. I'm not full on with garretta on not enjoying the Moondogs, but the schtick does get a bit old when it happens this often.- 11 replies

[1992-04-04-USWA-TV] Eric Embry vs Dirty White Boy (Stretcher)
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
I thought the intensity DWB and Embry had in their brawl was great and it made perfect sense that Embry slunk off while the Moondogs beat up DWB. When the 'Dogs turned on Embry it was great too. Lawler and Jarrett come out to avenge the earlier beating. Funny how chairshots can put guys in the hospital (OMG, swelled brain!) but you can also come back a few minutes later to avenge them on TV. -
Everyone is better than Horner as a promo. I wonder if any heel fans were disappointed after sending Ron Wright money when he didn't get any. DWB is indeed a great talker. Not so much Brian Lee though. Corny did a great job reacting to the underwear being thrown at him. And that "we're not on network television" remark had to be a shot at WCW.

[1992-03-29-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Shawn Michaels vs Roddy Piper
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1992
Shawn is good bumping around for Roddy. Not sure about some of his offense. Good way to up the ante for Bret/Roddy.- 10 replies

Amazing sunglasses! And am I the only one who doesn't believe it for a second when Holly claims to have been in Hollywood with that accent?
-
Not a bad singer at all. Only thing missing was his own personality instead of just trying to ape Garth Brooks. Shocking that he would have trouble with that I know. Sings kind of like he wrestles, perfectly competent but without any kind of charisma or spark. Also, apparently Tim Horner has his own recording studio.

[1992-03-23-WWF-MSG, NY] Ric Flair & Sid Justice vs Hulk Hogan & Roddy Piper
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1992
Piper and Flair is a really great pairing. Wish we had gotten more of that. Not a bad match and the crowd ate it up, so kudos.- 15 replies

[1992-03-21-USWA-TV] Jimmy Valiant and Brian Christopher
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1992
Valiant is so over with the Memphis crowd it is a wonder he ever left. It's hard to imagine anyone who doesn't see and hear the Lawler resemblance in Brian Christopher.- 12 replies

I'd say the officials in AJW are about the same level of ineffectual as the ones in the Toryumon and MPro I have seen. I also had an objection to Aja letting herself get suplexed right at the opening bell. Gotta assert yourself and be the monster heel early for sure. Toyota is indeed athletic on a supreme level. That being said, I hate her 5-7 dropkick rush. Hate it. Yamada had some great facial expressions when she was being pasted with a chair. Aja was in full beast mode closing out the second fall. That finish looked brutal and I am really glad Aja gave Toyota and Yamada time to celebrate a bit before going nuts.

Honestly, I didn't think anything really got accomplished here. Just a bunch of guys trying to corner Vince and mostly not being successful.

[1992-03-17-UWFi-E=MC2] Mark Silver vs Masahito Kakihara
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1992
I noticed that suplex on Kakihara that was not counted as well. I thought it would have been smarter work on Silver's part to make Kakihara come in on him and pester him with kicks instead of charging into the corner after him. Kakihara was coming up with more and better counters on the ground and struggled when pressured on his feet. Then again, Kakihara showed a lot more on his feet in the last 10 minutes. Good match, slow at points as mentioned.- 11 replies

[1992-03-15-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Roddy Piper and Bret Hart
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1992
Roddy threatening the attack from behind really sold this. Sad to see Roddy "retiring", but it seems like he's willing to put Bret over so he should make it look good in the match.- 11 replies

[1992-03-14-WWF-Superstars] Update: Wrestlemania Press Conference highlights
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1992
The Flair robe-suit combination was superb. I enjoyed the interview with Vince for all the reasons above. At the same time, I was thinking that Vince very likely was internally agreeing with Flair 100% of the time, so kudos on the acting!- 10 replies

I didn't really enjoy Gene twisting the knife on that deal. Why would he go through the whole quote when he could just say something like "what is your reaction to Ric Flair's comments?" Savage honestly should have decked him for going through the whole thing. Savage was pretty great reacting, just seemed excessive on Gene's part.

This seemed like a different take on the earlier promo. Better by a little, but nothing too new here. Jake is incredible as always, just had watched the other one a few minutes prior. Must have been for different parts of the country than the other.

Embry was great here as a sleazy bastard, but Dave really stole this segment for me. You tell him Dave!

Horner seemed kind of over. I'd agree that Rip should have been much more aggressive. I'll also agreee that Dutch is a fantastic color commentator. This is a great announce team for sure. Once the match got past all the basic mat wrestling they almost looked like they were doing Southern cruiserweight wrasslin'. Which is actually kind of cool.

[1992-03-14-SMW-TV] Interview: Ron Wright & Dirty White Boy
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1992
What is DWB doing here when Kim is being sexually assaulted in Memphis?? Anyway, DWB and Wright is a great combo despite both having no need of the other's charisma and ability to talk.- 11 replies
