  1. Sorry to change the subject for a bit, but does Todd Martin still update his Book Review tiers on the board? I'm not a site member currently. Someone posted the tiers on Classics in 3/2013 here: http://wrestlingclassics.com/cgi-bin/.ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=132247;p=0 And to stay on topic, the research and discussion about the WON HoF is the best part of it.
  2. Along those lines, should Gene Okerlund get any extra consideration for starting up (or lending his likeness to) Mean Gene's Burgers? Or Jimmy Hart for having that one hit song in the 60s?

I know it was probably on the WWE app, but they really should have given Brie her intro and have Nikki do her promo when they were on air. Especially with the "hand behind back" stip. It came off way too rushed for something that's supposed to be important. (I know, I know, the divas, who cares) And are Hornwoggle and "The Gator" supposed to be different "people"/characters in storyline? I don't think the announcers mentioned Hornswoggle at all during their match. Whatever that 90 seconds of mat wrestling was supposed to be.
  4. Sorry to bring the "less than 10%" link up again, but Shamrock was on the ballot in the early days and fell off in 2000. Not sure if he was added that year or in 98/99. (http://wrestlingclassics.com/cgi-bin/.ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=7;t=000499;p=0)
  5. Think I know what you mean. There was at least a few of those Coliseum Video tapes that had Dunn in parts of skits. Think he was mentioned by name at least once when doing some behind-the-scenes vignettes. They were on youtube but I can't find them.
  6. That "women I'd rather vote for than Moolah" bit was great. Would be a fun exercise to come up with 10 modern women + Moolah and rank them by HoF "worthiness". I think Madusa is better than some of the other names mentioned tho. She had a long career, was in multiple promotions, often pushed as the top female. Should be nowhere near a ballot, but certainly stronger than Sunny, Wendi Richter and others.
  7. Sorry to sound like a broken record, but this thread/post (http://wrestlingclassics.com/cgi-bin/.ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=7;t=000499;p=0) lists everyone who has been on the ballot and fell off. So if the wrestler is not on this list, nor is currently on the ballot or has been elected, they have never been on the ballot (not counting 1996 charter members and some historical inductees). Never saw that link before. So, neither have ever been on the ballot. That is crazy to me. Neither are locks, but they are better picks than some on there. No prob, I know I've posted it a few times and didn't want anyone to think I was flooding the thread. On that note, I wonder if anyone could compile a chart of total voters throughout the years. See how many were around in the early days, I assume it was a much smaller voting pool.
  8. 9. I haven't this year, and won't until after the '14 results are released. I don't have a ballot. Here's some names I'd consider. Mostly modern US. Haven't done deep research or anything. Out of the blue last year I wrote an e-mail to Dave about why Mean Gene wasn't on yet. Not sure if it had any influence of him being put on. Luger deserves a look at some point, he was on in the initial '98 ballot (and fell off, and how many people voted then anyway?), when he was an overrated guy "holding people down". Now that his career is over, he should get a chance. Especially with "poor workrate" candidates making it on as of late. J.J. Dillon could be a Monsoon-type non wrestler candidate, he's never been on. Depends on who falls off/gets in from that category this year, as it is stuffed. Bischoff fell off in 2001, and with WCW completely done, and adding in his on-screen WWE role, he should get a fresh look down the road, probably not a great candidate tho. Big Show should be on at some point, although many of his 2000s WWE contemporaries fell off. He's been in WCW/WWE for almost 20 years. But I'm not aware of any drawing power he has, unless you go by the "WWE as a brand draws" theory, perhaps. Some of you here have advocated for Greg Valentine, and I agree. Some of the modern candidates who fell off in the mid 2000s, such as RVD and the Steiners, might deserve another look at some point.

I agree with you. As soon as the Authority came out with the pink ribbon lapel pins, I amused myself the rest of the night in a chat thinking about if other characters would or would not wear a pin. Say if Bray had a pin on his hat, just would not work. Don't think Ambrose had any either (although he wears a leather jacket), and he's one of the megababyfaces. Would not fit his character either. Lana had a pink pocket square, not sure if that was meant to support Komen or it looked good with her outfit. It looked odd when Eva Marie had a cancer half-shirt on while Cameron had her normal ring attire. But yes, I don't think the awareness/cause would be hurt if the Authority and other heels didn't wear pink ribbon lapel pins and shirts. Plenty of other stars can wear them, plus the decal on the ramp, Good N' Plenty ropes and PSAs will chip in.
  11. Between the current ballot, inductees and this (http://wrestlingclassics.com/cgi-bin/.ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=7;t=000499;p=0) will give you everyone that has been on the ballot. Don't see Taskmaster.

I wonder what Brie was doing during the commercial break after she entered the ring. Her theme was still playing when they came back. 2 of the Divas matches had the same intro formula. Diva #1 comes out, feuding Diva on the ramp, intros the opponent(s). Triple H saying Miz had a "straight-to-DVD" career was a total pot/kettle/black. Both Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have been on Raw (almost 5 years to the day of each other). Different roles, but who would have ever guessed. Wonder if Kofi, Xavier or Darren Young was in the bunny suit for the night. In the animal wackiness, they should work Battle Kat or have Mantaur play Torito's dad in somehow.
  13. Also re:Moolah, hasn't Dave said at various times that Moolah was going to be put in via fiat in 1996, then someone asked him why and he couldn't think of any solid reason?
  14. BTW, here's an example of the HOF ballot polls Dave puts up, this is from 1/15/2012: (original link: http://www.f4wonline.com/more/more-top-stories/96-wwe/23797-sun-update-more-from-ufc-142-gina-carano-hall-of-fame-candidates-2-injuries-mania-vince) --Which of these names most belongs on the Hall of Fame ballot? 15. Does Dave still do the "of the following, who is the best Hall of Fame candidate" polls? Always wondered if those factored into the ballot or not. Anyone ever saved the names of those? Kinda along that line, I went through the WON and WWE Hall of Fame listings to see how much common ground they had. It was more than I thought. The listing is of WWE Hall of Famers who have 1) Not been inducted in the WON HoF or 2) Are not currently on the ballot. Pretty much in order of WWE induction year. Didn't list any celeb inductions. Are there any viable WON ballot candidates on here, especially in the "never included" list? Never Included on ballot Arnold Skaaland James Dudley George Steele Ivan Putski Grand Wizard Baron Mikel Scicluna Johnny Rodz Valiant Brothers (Jimmy/Johnny) Big John Studd Greg Valentine Tito Santana Bob Orton Jr. Nikolai Volkoff Iron Sheik Sherri Martel Tony Atlas The Blackjacks Mr. Fuji The Wild Samoans Peter Maivia Mae Young Jerry Brisco (inducted as part of Brisco Brothers) Koko B. Ware The Von Erichs (minus Fritz, Kerry was on ballot previously) Wendi Richter Hacksaw Jim Duggan Sunny Paul Ellering (inducted with Road Warriors) Ron Simmons Yokozuna Tully Blanchard (inducted with Four Horsemen) J.J. Dillon (inducted with Four Horsemen) Trish Stratus Lita Paul Bearer Fell off ballot Chief Jay Strongbow (fell off in 2012) Don Muraco (fell off in 1998 and 2005) Paul Orndorff (fell off in 1998 and 2007) Rocky Johnson (fell off in 2009) Kerry Von Erich (fell off in 1999 and 2007) Bob Armstrong (fell off in 2013) Barry Windham (fell off in 1998) Arn Anderson (fell off in 2006) Booker T (fell off in 2006) Jake Roberts (fell off in 1998) Scott Hall (fell off in 1998)
  16. I'm not on the board nor have I read the latest Observer, so I'm not sure if anything related to this has been ironed out yet. Once the results are tallied, you have 10-11 months before next year's ballot comes out, plenty of time to refine things. I bet there will be clarifications/modifications to the rules for 2015. There are 4 candidates on the 15/50% list that have not appeared on 15 ballots. In a few cases, the gap between falling off the ballot and returning is quite lengthy. It can be difficult to determine why or who brought certain people back on the ballot. Was it requested by voters or did Dave just add the name? I don't think it should be held completely against the candidate if they were off the ballot for 5+ years and it somehow counts as being on for 15. Like for Cien Caras, he was off for many years, what brought him back on? Voters who request candidates aren't going to deeply research a bunch of names each year. Maybe one or a few. I suggest that for those who fell off the ballot and were brought back on, add the total ballots the candidate has appeared on, then add 2 as a "penalty" for dropping off. Reach 15, you're "done". I'm hoping something will be done for Pedro Morales if he doesn't get 50%. He also had a long gap between falling off and being placed back on the ballot. This is his first year in the historical category, yet he has to reach 50% in a different voting pool. The category switch is like in the Baseball HoF when you fall off the regular ballot and are on the Veteran's Committee ballot. He should get a few cracks, assuming he gets 10+%.

The Bellas are doing autograph signings the next 2 weekends: http://www.wizardworld.com/betwnibrjowi1.html (Nashville Wizard World, this weekend) http://www.ringsidefest.com/ (Ringside Fest, Times Square, next weekend) I'm sure these were booked well in advance, but given their feud, this is quite the case in bad timing.
  18. I think it was something like that. Has he posted or done anything online in the last 10+ years? I do remember (within the last few years) a promoter on a wrestling convention board talking about getting in touch with Zenk and possibly booking him (most shoots are taped during convention weekends, one leads to another), and Zenk either cursed him out and/or asked for way more $$$ than his worth.
  19. LOL, I'll get something more juicy for this thread, just you wait.
  20. Thought of one. Randy Savage did not voice himself on Family Guy as it is often claimed. Someone else voiced Randy (only had 1 line, didn't sound that much like him) and Randy's name is not in the closing credits. This was the ep where Cleveland broke up with his wife. A lot of obits claimed he did a voice on Family Guy. He was on King of the Hill (not playing himself) once tho. It's kinda a loose myth, but has spilled into wrestling circles.

BTW, on Cameron trying to pin Naomi when she was on her stomach, was that a planned spot or not? I was under the impression that it was, especially with Cameron staying in character when yelling at the ref, but some podcasts/reviews out there act as if it was a legit botch.

The Divas tag had 3 intros shown, and the Divas champion gets the jobber intro. I know there's the triple threat at NoC, but if you only "had time" for 3 intros, make the teams come out together and appear kayfabe uncomfortable or something. Just don't think titleholders (even secondary) should get no intros. The ending of the Naomi/Cameron match bugged me. Cameron dominating the match for the most part, and then submits in like half a second. Plus, they were in a town that Vince/Dunn doesn't perceive as "big". That's always awkward to skirt the "issue", calling it the Cajun Dome (even Bray did it) although I think Henry had the decency to name the city.
  23. Or maybe it was obvious she wasn't ready, and maybe Orton and her had a thing and it ended like things do, with Orton not being some douche tossing women aside and it had nothing to do with it.No offense, but this whole judging what a mid thirties Orton is like now based on how he acted when he was a kid on his early twenties is just exasperating. Does ANYBODY want to be permanently remembered by how they acted in their early twenties? Exactly. It's amazing/sad that people still use the "Randy Orton craps in people's bags" meme to this day. Remember during the HHH "home invasion" angle when they cast a model to play Randy's wife and fans were saying how she was too unrealistically good-looking for him?
  24. Don't get the network, did they do the Greatest GMs countdown last night? Wiki says Mick Foley was #1. Glad it wasn't Vickie. In a kayfabe sense, someone who played an incompetent/bitchy character for her whole run should not be tops.
  25. Thought of something re:15-year rule for those who dropped off. What if the number of years on the ballot were combined, then add 2/two (the minimum sit-out period before coming back on) to the total until they reach 15? That way, you don't "reward" falling off the ballot but don't overly punish the candidate b/c say, a voter/group didn't make a case for him/her or such until later. If that makes sense. For example, Cien Caras was off the ballot for at least 8 years (from 2002 to at least 2009), why should that span count against him as if he was on the ballot the way things are now?
