Hi, I'm compiling a watchlist of WWF matches for 1985-87 and as you can imagine it gets monstrously large very quickly. I'm looking to whittle it down a bit to the better matches. With all the footage available, I was hoping for some guidance on the best matches in the following feuds Santana/Valentine Santana/Savage Savage/Steamboat Steamboat/Muraco Hart Foundation/Bees Hart Foundation/Bulldogs Valentine and Beefcake/Bulldogs Steamboat/Roberts Hogan/Savage Hogan/Orndorff Orndorff/Rude Hogan/DiBiase Thanks!

Is it outdoors? I had assumed it was.

Wonder what the weather’s like in Cardiff. It’s raining all day here.

The Jim Cornette Experience

I've been enjoying Cornette's discussion of the A&E Biography Series on Drive-thru. Nothing earth shattering, but nice to hear him happy. -
Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4

I was watching some 1988 Demolition matches, and I noticed Smash wears his elbow pad over his eagle tattoo on his left arm. Do you suppose he had seen the fate that befell Randy Culley and was doing everything to avoid being recognised as a Russian? -
I'm still enjoying the show, but I can imagine if I'd built up a backlog like 'savage I'd find it tough to get through it all. I think Foley is still putting the effort in, and trying to answer the questions as fully as he can, but Conrad could be better at keeping him on topic. The Benoit discussion later in the episode was worth sticking around for.

Wow, poor Foley's been Conradded already!

So....anyone got a best matches of the 2022 G1 list?

The Gentleman Villain with Willian Regal

If you're listening to the Q&A episode this week, switch it off when he starts talking about him, Foley and Austin on a beach. I have absolutely no idea what point he was trying to make with retelling that story. -
Just wondering - do folks here feel compelled to watch entire shows if they commit to a product? It's been decades since I watched any wrestling shows end to end.....

I listened to the Bret v Ramon (Rumble 93) and Bret v piper (Wm 8) watch alongs. Really enjoyed both. Cornette insists that it’s all common sense, and not rocket science, but it’s fascinating listening to him break down the match as it happens. -

Has he stopped doing the watch-alongs? They were always interesting. -

Thank you! That's just the sort of recommendation from Cornette's podcasts i want. -
The Gentleman Villain with Willian Regal

Is he THAT peculiar, though? I get the impression that he's tough on himself, and doesn't accept compliments easy. Like most people of his generation in the UK and Ireland. -
Got through first episode yesterday. The name dropping is more than a bit obnoxious, but he sounds sincere and keen to put effort in. To be fair to him, I remember his 2004 rf shoot felt similar - anyone else would take the money and throw answers off the top of their head, whereas he prepared and knew exactly what he wanted to say. one very interesting thing was comparing wrestlings refusal to acknowledge its past in 2000 to today. In some ways I’d say the pendulum’s swung too far the other way.

Listened to first two episodes today. It feels quite different from most wrestling podcasts. His account of 1998 and complete refusal to accept any kind of praise for overcoming addiction is touching to me, like a resilience a generation older than me would possess. While also acknowledging advantages he had in overcoming addiction that others don’t have. -
The Arn Anderson podcast

Yeah, I listened to the August and September 1988 episodes last weekend. The August one had a lot of reading over results, general comments about life on the road etc. We got a bit more insider stuff with September and the move to WWF, hoping that continues. -

Hello, me again! I see they are up to September 1988 here. I might follow them for his WWF run at least.. I assume no-one here is listening and can comment on the 1986-87 shows? -
Bumping this to say I've been reading reviews from this forum since December. A really excellent read.

I was asking because they had some of the best US matches in 1985. I hadn’t really thought about it beyond that. -

Hi Steven, I gave this a listen this evening and enjoyed it. You've mentioned your intention to avoid Flair matches wherever possible, but I was wondering if any of the following US workers were close to making your 1985 Top 25 DiBiase Kerry Von Erich Buzz SAwyer Lawler Dundee Dick Murdoch Terry Taylor Also, not much New Japan or All Japan representation - any specific reason for that? Again, enjoyed the podcast, and I'm asking because I'm curious to know the parameters you're working within for future episodes. Thanks. -
Cesaro and sheamus in 2016 was great stuff.
