  1. That reminds me that Meltzer doesn't rewatch old wrestling again. I can understand that in his position he needs to keep on top of what's current and it's a luxury he can't afford, but my fandom would have disappeared a long time if I was just watching current stuff all the time.
  2. That's the best stuff Cornette does on podcasts now. That, and the reviews of WWE Biography and Rivals shows.
  3. Some of my uncles moved to New York in the 60s. About 10 years ago, one of them was home and somehow during a chat with the whole family the subject veered towards wrestling. I was promptly pushed forward as the wrestling fan and he told me about watching Sammartino in the Garden in the 70s, but didn't like it after that when it became 'phony'. I wasn't a conversation I expected in that setting....
  4. Has there been any discussion of Danielson entering the G1?
  5. Remember this sort of thing used to happen here all the time? Those weren't the days.
  6. Did dean malenko say something in the promo packages about Danielson competing in 4 iron man/60 minute matches? in aew, or throughout his career? That confused me…
  7. I've heard very little so far, only Brock v Gunther. Is anything else locked in? Or predicted? The Royal Rumble will give a few more clues, but I can't remember ever having so little idea where things were heading in January for WrestleMania....
  8. Hi, Wondering if anyone has read Bischoff's new book 'Grateful' yet? And if so, is it any good?
  9. You certainly get the impression he regrets nothing in his life and would do it all again. He’s not a man prone to introspection at all. Pitiful.
  10. I listened to the first episode. Dax sounds like someone that uses 'passion' as an excuse for being a massive pain in the ass. Could make for a good podcast though.
  11. If anyone has listened yet - is there any wrestling talk on this week's Christmas episode?
  12. I'll give it a listen but that does sound unpleasant. It's a shame - I had grown accustomed to his roundabout way of explaining things. He's like a lot of people that find it difficult to give concise, on-point answers, but a lot of his digressions were entertaining.
  13. Sorry to hear that, RIP.
  14. No Between the sheets this week? What's up?
  15. so, is anyone else still listening? I enjoy the show. Regal's convoluted way of explaining things with about 15 caveats has a certain charm, after a while. Recently, he did a watch-along on an October 1993 WCW Saturday night which I found insightful.
  16. The thing that salvages the late 90s shows is the line of questions includes other things going on in WWF at the the time and the fact that Foley gives thoughtful, detailed and interesting replies (unlike JR, Prichard etc). Foley takes time to precisely articulate his views, instead of spouting off the first thing that pops into his head to make the podcast end sooner.
  17. I'm enjoying it. The Florida, Stampede and Kaufman episodes raised a few chuckles. The re-enactments are hilarious.
  18. Yes, at this year's Rumble. It wasn't great, from my memory.
  19. Cornette's cover Inoki this week. Curious to hear how much he knows about his career - Cornette seemed spotty on Japanese wrestling, covering AJPW with Hansen on a shoot a few years back.
  20. Hi, I'm compiling a watchlist of WWF matches for 1985-87 and as you can imagine it gets monstrously large very quickly. I'm looking to whittle it down a bit to the better matches. With all the footage available, I was hoping for some guidance on the best matches in the following feuds Santana/Valentine Santana/Savage Savage/Steamboat Steamboat/Muraco Hart Foundation/Bees Hart Foundation/Bulldogs Valentine and Beefcake/Bulldogs Steamboat/Roberts Hogan/Savage Hogan/Orndorff Orndorff/Rude Hogan/DiBiase Thanks!
  21. Is it outdoors? I had assumed it was.
  22. Wonder what the weather’s like in Cardiff. It’s raining all day here.
  23. I've been enjoying Cornette's discussion of the A&E Biography Series on Drive-thru. Nothing earth shattering, but nice to hear him happy.
  24. I was watching some 1988 Demolition matches, and I noticed Smash wears his elbow pad over his eagle tattoo on his left arm. Do you suppose he had seen the fate that befell Randy Culley and was doing everything to avoid being recognised as a Russian?
  25. I'm still enjoying the show, but I can imagine if I'd built up a backlog like 'savage I'd find it tough to get through it all. I think Foley is still putting the effort in, and trying to answer the questions as fully as he can, but Conrad could be better at keeping him on topic. The Benoit discussion later in the episode was worth sticking around for.
