  1. I am a little biased against a very young, rookie Owen Hart jumping into the main events even if he was one of the all time greats. The same would be for William Regal who is only about 17 or 18 around this time of his life. It is a weird line with have to try and tow when writing. Outside of that, this is the World Class/Von Erichs of Canada in the same good ways. I am interested to see if there can be a Freebird type unit to come in and give the Harts the real test of time they deserve and get Stampede firing on all cylinders.
  2. I liked the Dallas stuff and you can bet that Bill Watts is feeling the pressure over in Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio. I think that you are setting things up well with slowly showing your top guys to the Texas crowd while still holding strong to Texas favorites. It is a good model to follow with National television on your side.
  3. Perhaps the worst kept secret in Wrestling, but the moment happened. Perhaps on tv this week Wrestling II will explain why he did what he done...

  5. 85/100 still intact. Losing Gino so early was a huge hit but most of my low end guys have gone so far.
  6. It saddens my heart to see Gino fall out so early (imo). Dude had all the right tools and I am pumped that people can see it with NWA Classics. He was a true stud in the world of wrestling if there ever was one.
  7. Mid South Wrestling is going through some serious changing on the booking side of things over the next couple of weeks. From the beginning of his tenure, Bill Dundee has been making some friends and enemies. The first shot was hired when Dundee publicly went to bat up against Hernandez and Blanchard. These two have built Mid South back up in the absence of Ted Dibiase and Junkyard Dog. Hernandez and Blanchard have been booked very strong as of late holding all the titles in Mid South but Dundee isn't too high on the matter. With him in control of the book, it seems like the only man who can stop him will be Bill Watts... but will he? Bobby Heenan made his debut to Mid South this week on television. This was a deal brokered by Vince McMahon who is still in control of talent relations at this time. He (Heenan), like Hernandez and Blanchard are not in Dundee's camp though. Dundee isn't a fan of Heenan's comedy in the Mid South territory and wants to keep things serious. Heenan may end up being edgier or unemployed as Dundee has claimed. Heenan has aligned himself with Murdoch and Adonis who are between tours in Japan along with "buying" the contracts of Rick Rude and King Kong Bundy. Word has it that he was interested in bringing in Big John Studd but Dundee didn't think he would draw this side of Georgia so Big John has been accepting bookings throughou the country and may be in line for a tour of Japan. No word on the Masked Superstar who hasn't been around since February. While he has got a big name and great skills, he hasn't been contacted for a renewal in Mid South. Mr. Wrestling II is on the chopping block as he has been telling people that he is close to retiring due to some injuries and lack of bookings. He may end up joining Jim Ross on commentary but nothing is for sure yet. On the brighter side of things, Ivan Koloff and Krusher Kruschev have been making waves in Mid South with perhaps the most profitable "Russian" angle in wrestling. Look for them to continue their reign of terror and even add in a third member in the next couple of months. Jim Duggan is back full time after another small batch of injuries. He is expected to be the top face in the company along with Magnum TA and possibly Ted Dibiase if and when he returns. Dundee has worked with McMahon on bringing in the Barbarian and Samu. Some have said they will be billed as the new Samoans but Watts wasn't big on the name. They may just be teamed with no specific gimmick but pickings are slim on a manager for them. Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers have been gaining a lot of steam lately and are now set for another run with Adonis and Murdoch. The winners should get into a feud with the champions but there doesn't seem to be a big push in the tag team division. Mid South continues its battle to get national television but with the lack of potential buyers, the market seems to be cornered. Their relationship with the NWA continues on, and Watts has even made claim to possibly run for President. On the other hand, USWA has reached out, and if Mid South were to join them, they could corner the southern states and perhaps eclipse the NWA in size and star power.
  8. It would be quite weird to see him in the Mid South during this time. I am going to try and keep him edgy enough but the comedy was his draw. I just don't know if I would use it as much with the atmosphere I have created in the Territory.
  9. 4/11/1984 - Mid South Wrestling Live – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Civic Center Mid South Wrestling is coming to you on its Fox Affiliates throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Action is coming to you tonight from the Civic Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. -MSW opens this week with footage from the $200,00 Tag Team Tournament this past weekend in Houston, Texas. We see some of the highlights but the focus is on the main event and the finals as we saw Magnum TA and Barry Windham defeated Gino Hernandez and Tully Blanchard to win the invitational tournament and the $200,000!! We cut to Jim Ross and Bill Watts who are standing by! Jim Ross: Welcome everyone to Mid South Wrestling! I am Jim Ross alongside Cowboy Bill Watts and Bill we are just days removed from that huge two day event in Houston in which Magnum TA and Barry Windham won $200,000! Bill Watts: Lemme tell you something right now, two double tough men fought all the way to the finals and won it brother. They deserved every cent they got! Jim Ross: Fans we know that Gino and Tully will be here tonight but the big one we have on tap for you this evening is a one on one contest with the winner getting a chance at the television title next week, we are going to see Magnum TA take on… wait just a moment! -We then see Bobby Heenan walk out and he isn’t alone! Rick Rude, King Kong Bundy, Adrian Adonis, and Dick Murdoch join Heenan as he walks up to Jim Ross! Jim Ross: Bobby Heenan, what in the world are you doing out here? Bobby Heenan: Let me make one thing perfectly clear to you and all these humanoids out here right now. Over the weekend we saw a lot of money change hands. You saw Magnum TA and Barry Windham make $200,000! That’s chump change to me Ross… I purchased the contracts of Rick Rude and King Kong Bundy. I have bought the contracts of these two men… they are the best tag team in the world regardless of your handpicked winners of that tournament. I have come here for one purpose Jim Ross… Bill Watts… you better listen to it as well… we came here for titles. I have a lot of respect for Gino Hernandez and Tully Blanchard but gentlemen… I get paid based off the gold I bring to my men. Tonight I have got Rick Rude taking on Magnum TA and once he wins that match, he is going to cash in and get his hands on that television title. Adonis and Murdoch are taking on the Fantastics this Friday night in San Antonio and I am told that the winners will get their chance at the titles… and right here… I’ve got the crown jewel. This is King Kong Bundy. He weighs over 400 pounds and is the most dominant man in the sport of professional wrestling. On Friday night in San Antonio, he is one of four men who are going to get a chance to face the North American Champion in 2 weeks. Mark my words boys… these are the champions and we are coming for the titles! -Ross and Watts can’t believe what they’ve just seen! Bobby Heenan is here and he has got his Family with him. We head to the ring for the first contest of the evening! Jim Brunzell & Brian Blair vs Adrian Adonis & Dick Murdoch w/ Bobby Heenan -A great showcase for Adonis and Murdoch who get about 5 good minutes out of Blair and Brunzell. Watts puts over Blair and Brunzell as young up and comers but tonight they are outmatched. We see Adonis and Murdoch go dirty and hit the tandem brainbuster for the 1…2….3! They work the crowd and make the signal for the gold! How will the champions feel about this challenge? *COMMERCIAL* -MSW with the Fantastics joining Jim Ross and Bill Watts. They put over their issues with Gino and Tully along with Adonis and Murdoch. They talk about the tournament and say they would love to get a shot at the Guerreros and the world tag titles but they want their Mid South titles back first. They put over the showdown this Friday night in San Antonio against Adonis and Murdoch! Ross and Watts then turn their tide to the big one night stand tournament this Friday night in which Jim Duggan will take on Mr. Wrestling II and King Kong Bundy will take on the man in action right now… Don Muraco! Don Muraco vs Barry Horowitz -A nice showcase for Muraco who has been gaining a lot of steam heading into his showdown with Bundy this week in San Antonio. We see him handle Horowitz with ease here tonight and finishes him with the big tombstone piledriver for the 1….2…3! Muraco works the crowd and he is going to need something special to come out on top this Friday night! *COMMERCIAL* -MSW returns with Watts and Ross putting over the big tournament this Friday night in Houston. We see Wrestling II come out and put himself over. He says he is getting back in his prime and he’s going to show Duggan a thing or two… but here comes Hacksaw Duggan! Rotundo and Williams join him as he comes out to put over his injury and announce that he will be in San Antonio for the one night stand tournament and he’s coming for a fight. Wrestling II backs off. He puts over the All-Americans and talks about the feud with the Russians. He says it is going to have to come to an end and it is not going to be a Cold War but a Bloody War! Kruschev and Koloff are in action right now! The Invaders vs Krusher Kruschev & Ivan Koloff -The Russians are out and they look incredible tonight. Kruschev and Koloff and definitely working in unison and they show off their skills. We see Koloff bear hug Invader one and then drop down as Kruschev runs with a big RUSSIAN SICKLE for the 1…2….3! They work the crowd but Koloff gets on the microphone! Ivan Koloff: Everyone has tried to hold us down. Everyone has tried to stop us. Bill Watts… you are the worst offender of them all. We are here to tell you right now that we will go nowhere. We will continue to fight for our freedom and equality. You always play the numbers game… but next week… the numbers even up. The Russian Nightmare will be revealed and we will have you all understand why Russia is number 1! *COMMERCIAL* -MSW returns with Watts and Ross putting over what Ivan Koloff said. They wonder who this Russian Nightmare is and what that means for Mid South. They talk about the number one contender match coming up but here comes Tully and Gino! They are covered in gold as they put over how the $200,00 isn’t enough to make them blink. They put over the titles and say that all these challengers are chumps while they are champs. They want to see just who is going to walk out as the contenders over the next week. Watts talks about Gino defending the TV title next week against the winner and the special enforcer for the match is going to be TED DIBIASE! Gino and Tully are irate as they walk off… they aren’t even going to stay for the number one contenders match here tonight! Television Championship Number One Contender Match Magnum TA vs Rick Rude w/ Bobby Heenan -They give these two guys some time and they seem primed for one another. Rude and Heenan are in their very early stages of working with one another but you can tell there is something to be had from their relationship. Magnum TA is primed tonight though as these guys go about 14-minutes and almost close out the show. Magnum is all alone out here as Heenan brings out the troops. Here comes Bundy, Adonis, and Murdoch as they surround the ring. Magnum is able to work over Rude but once things start to really go his way, here comes the Family… wait a moment… here comes the Fantastics! Fulton and Rogers pull down Adonis and Murdoch and start to throw hands! Bundy grabs Magnum as Rude runs with a high knee but he nails Bundy instead and he goes flying! Rude turns around to a BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX for the 1….2…3! MAGNUM TA IS THE NUMBER ONE CONTENDER FOR THE TV TITLE! He will face Gino Hernandez next week!
  10. Will there be a post with just the list from 557 to 1? Just to have the group of names to look at?
  11. Big props to Grimmas and the others who put this together. I did something similar back for the Place to Be in 2010, but it was nowhere near as in depth. http://bigelow34.proboards.com/thread/7200/bes-greatest-wrestler-poll-results It is interesting to see where some people pop in on the low and high lists. I know for me, the One Man Gang was 100 and I have had a couple from the list pop up but still a lot more int he tank. Looking forward to watching it unfold.
  12. AWA has punched us all in the face with this comeback, but we know you were never really gone. I like seeing the Orndorff/ Hogan pairing at this point in their careers as it spells serious money for the AWA. Glad to see you fought back and got back in the game all the way. Keep doin work.
  13. I like the way you write these results. Easy to read and see how it shakes out. Very good start to Stampede and you have got some great pieces to this Canadian puzzle!
  14. USWA as a whole is really building up some big time steam. I am really enjoying the team of Piper and the Sheepherders. Perhaps my favorite trio going right now in the game. I am interested to see what happens with Butch Reed in the long run here. I see him with some serious potential and someone who could control the brand but there is a very thick piece of glass with some great stars in USWA and I don't know if he has the personality to break through. Keep doin work!
  15. Jose Lothario to AWA Samu to Mid South
  16. All caught up as well. Hope you guys enjoy the final tv and $200,000 tournament. I wish I would have done a bracket challenge with everyone here... it was fun to book and put together.
  17. 4/7/1984 - Mid South Wrestling Live – Houston, Texas – Sam Houston Coliseum Quarterfinals – 1 Fall – 25- minute time limit (1) The Guerreros vs The Fantastics -A big time contest to kick things off as the number one seed goes toe to toe with the Fantastics. They go 23-minutes in one of the hardest hitting matches of the tournament. These guys blow it up in the ring and in the final moments, we see the rise of the Fantastics right here in Houston. Chavo and Mando double up on Fulton and really break him down before we see the hottest tag of them all to Tommy Rogers who comes in like a rocket. He is firing with everything he’s got. We see Hector Guerrero run out to try and break up the match but we see Bobby Fulton with a dropkick to his chest that sends him flying into the guardrail! Chavo runs and tackles Fulton out of the ring. Inside the ring, Chavo runs for a clothesline on Rogers who ducks and then nails a superkick! Chavo throws another clothesline but Rogers ducks and catches him with a roll up for the 1…2….3!! OMG! THE FANTASTICS HAVE WON IT! THEY ARE MOVING ON! The Guerreros can’t believe it! (5) Tully Blanchard & Gino Hernandez vs Don Muraco & Ivan Putski -This one is not nearly as exciting as the previous but definitely has some heat. Guerrero and Blanchard are getting pelted with debris here tonight and they are eating it up with all the titles. This one only goes about 8-minutes as Muraco and Putski are simply outmatch from the word go. We see a nasty spike piledriver on Muraco for the 1…2…3! Gino and Tully celebrate and they are moving to the semis to take on the Fantastics and that one is going to be hot! Andre the Giant & Tony Atlas vs Terry Gordy & Stan Hansen -One of the most premiere matches of the tournament to this point. This one could have been the finals and left everyone happy. Gordy and Hansen have really got things going in their direction this weekend. They are fluid and smooth and even work oout a way to counteract Andre. Atlas does look good out there but he is getting outworked by Gordy and Hansen. This one goes about 12-minutes and we see the big finish of Hansen and Andre going outside the ring while Atlas watches and turns around to see Gordy with a huge SPIKE right to the throat and then a powerbomb for the 1…2….3!!Gordy and Hansen are going to the semis! This makeshift team is looking like money here tonight as they double up on Andre before it is all said and done! (3) The Sheepherders vs Magnum TA & Barry Windham -The first match for the Sheepherders and they come out wild and crazy. This one breaks down from the beginning and we see a WILD brawl all over the ringside area. The referee almost calls for the bell but lets them go. We see a wild spot when Luke runs at Magnum who belly to belly suplexes him onto the time-keepers table and busts it. Windham has his head busted open by Butch who is biting it as the blood is flowing. We see Magnum break it up as the action is back inside the ring. He is hammering away at Butch but here comes Luke with a fraction of that wooden table. He is trying to stab Magnum but here comes Windham with a huge standing dropkick sending him out of the ring. Butch runs at Magnum who duck and Windham with a nasty LARIAT for the 1…2…3! Windham and Magnum are moving to the semis! What a wild contest! The fans are psyched right now and chanting for them. QUICK RESULTS The Fantastics defeated (1) The Guerreros (5) Tully Blanchard & Gino Hernandez defeated Don Muraco & Ivan Putski Terry Gordy & Stan Hansen defeated Andre the Giant & Tony Atlas Magnum TA & Barry Windham defeated (3) The Sheepherders Semifinals – 1 Fall – 30 – minute time limit The Fantastics vs (5) Tully Blanchard & Gino Hernandez -This is one that has got a lot of history with it. These guys come out in front of these Houston fans; live they have done before and leave everything in the ring. Gino and Tully do have the advantage as they are fresher but The Fantastics have got a special kind of energy around them. They bring the fight and this one goes 25-minutes and may go down as the match of the tournament. They each get in offense and don’t follow the formula but simply go from the ring of the bell. As the match begins to wind down, we see Hernandez and Blanchard look to finish as Tully goes for a piledriver on Rogers but here comes Fulton with a huge superkick! He gets a close two count but here comes Gino to break it up. We get a huge brawl before seeing Tommy Rogers go for broke. Fulton and Tully go outside the ring as Rogers goes up top and leaps with a high cross body and he nails Gino but he has too much momentum as Gino rolls through and covers him for the 1…2…3!!! GINO AND TULLY ARE GOING TO THE FINALS! The crowd gives them a standing ovation here as Gino and Tully celebrate. Who will they face? Terry Gordy & Stan Hansen vs Magnum TA & Barry Windham -Talk about two different styles but damn they mesh well. They go toe to toe for 15-minutes and it is as entertaining but completely different than the match before it. this one is more of a hard hitting affair as Magnum and Windham are tying to find a way to match their size and strength but it just isn’t happening. The big break comes when Barry Windham ducks a clothesline from Gordy and then nails a huge dropkick right in his face and busts his nose! Gordy’s nose is bleeding all over the place and we see Windham and Magnum take control! Hansen is able to get involved as this one breaks down. We see a big double dropkick from Magnum and Windham sending Hansen out of the ring. Gordy then nails Magnum but here comes Windham with a BULLDOG and Gordy’s nose cracks the mat once again. He stands back up, blood flowing and he turns around and Magnum grabs him for a BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX! 1….2….3! MAGNUM AND BARRY HAVE WON IT! They are going to the Finals! QUICK RESULTS (5) Tully Blanchard & Gino Hernandez defeated The Fantastics Magnum TA & Barry Windham defeated Terry Gordy & Stan Hansen -We get some big time entrances for our World Heavyweight Championship match here tonight. The crowd is eating it up as Steamboat is here with the title and Flair is the challenger! NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Ricky Steamboat © vs Ric Flair -They pick up right where they left off over a week ago with a 35-minute war. It is one that sees some of the best technical wrestling in the sport. We see Flair work the leg and Steamboat go move – counter move to everything Flair is throwing at him. A majority of the match is Flair going after the knee and Steamboat trying to fight it off with everything he’s got. We see Steamboat get in some big time offense and work the back of Flair, which everyone knows is his weak spot. We even see him lock in that submission hoisting Flair up and Flair is doing everything he cannot to tap. He breaks out of it when he snaps his head back and busts Steamboat’s nose! Steamboat is hurting here as Flair is looking to finish but Steamboat has got something left in him. We see some wild shots and then Steamboat goes up top for a big chop off the top rope! He then goes up again and a HIGH CROSS BODY but Flair rolls through for a close two count. They get back up and Flair throws a huge clothesline but Steamboat ducks and then rolls him up for a 2 count but Flair rolls through for a close two count. They get up and Steamboat charges but Flair kicks his knee out! Steamboat goes down as Flair looks to lock in the figure four but Steamboat rolls up but Flair rolls through for the 1….2…3!! FLAIR HAS REGAINED THE TITLE! The crowd is going nuts! Flair grabs the belt and holds it high in the air! The crowd can’t believe it as Steamboat is grasping his knee. Flair holds up the title as history was made right here in Houston! -We get ready for the big finals. We see huge entrances from Tully and Gino. Then we see Tully and Gino cut a promo putting over how they won’t choke like Houston did the other night in the NCAA tournament! The crowd is hot for that one as we see Windham and Magnum come out to a great ovation. It is all on the line for $200,000! HERE WE GO! FINALS – 1 Fall – No Time Limit – Must be a WINNER (5) Tully Blanchard & Gino Hernandez vs Magnum TA & Barry Windham -It all comes down to this. No time limit and there must be a winner. These guys leave everything out there tonight, as there is no tomorrow. They go roughly 25-minutes and it is a mix of everything. We see brawling outside the ring as these guys all go wild. They pop back inside the ring and wrestle and we see all four men showcase their talents. Tully and Gino are able to work their double teaming to take control of the contest but it is the momentum of Barry and Magnum that turns the match to their favor. We see a big Bulldog from Windham for a very close two count on Tully. Gino and Tully bust out a nasty low blow on Windham before doubling up and sending him into the ring steps. He looks to be down and out as they look to finish with the SPIKE PILEDRIVER but here comes Magnum to break it up! We get a wild brawl as Tully and Gino go once again to finish but Windham with a huge backdrop on Tully. He is crawling to his corner and he makes the big tag to Magnum who comes in to a huge ovation! He comes with some huge rights and lefts but Gino and Tully look to double up on him! Windham is slow to get up but as Gino grabs Magnum for a piledriver and bends down, Tully goes up but here comes Windham who runs and leapfrogs Gino and nails Tully off the ropes out to the floor! Magnum runs through Gino’s legs and then waits as Gino turns around and BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX FOR THE 1….2…3!!! MAGNUM AND WINDHAM HAVE WON IT! THEY HAVE WON THE $200,000! -Gino and Tully are irate! They hold their titles and walk out of the arena to a chorus of boos and debris. Inside the ring, we see Paul Boesch give the men the huge $200,000. The fans are going nuts. We see Andre, Atlas, Putski, Muraco, and the Fantastics come out as they are pouring Champaign on Windham and Magnum who hoist up the check. What a way to finish off this historic event!
  18. 4/6/1984 - Mid South Wrestling Live – Houston, Texas – Sam Houston Coliseum Opening Round – 1 Fall – 15-minute time limit Rick Rude & King Kong Bundy w/ Jimmy Hart vs Jose Lothario & Mil Mascaras -In a fun opening contest with all four men getting involved, it is King Kong Bundy who is the X factor in this contest. Rude looks good to soften things up but it is Bundy who is just on a different level. Mascaras looks like he’s about to finish Rude but on the other side of the ring, Bundy nails the AVALANCHE and the 1…2…3 on Lothario! Rude and Bundy to take on the Guerreros in the next round! The Fantastics vs The Zumbie Express -A huge mismatch here from the outset. Fulton and Rogers have got something going in the right direction though as they play cat and mouse with the Express. It is a mis-communication that leads to a big double dropkick on both men sending them out of the ring. We then see tandem baseball slides putting both men down outside the ring for the 10-count! Fulton and Rogers advance to take on Murdoch and Adonis! Ivan Putski & Don Muraco vs Tiger Chung Lee & Prof. Tanaka -A very WWF style contest with the formula working here. The problem is that with only 15-minutes, it isn’t overly entertaining. Tiger and Tanaka are a decent team but it is Putski and Muraco who put it together and we see a big Tombstone on Lee from Muraco for the 1…2…3! They will move on to face the Moondogs in the 2nd round. Sam Houston & Terry Taylor vs Lord Humungous & The Executioner -This one is just a mess from the outset. I don’t even think the bell rings as Humungous and Executioner just rip into Taylor and Houston. Sam Houston gets busted open early on and he is in a bad way. Then the match gets even crazier with Humungous and the Executioner turning on one another. The referee calls for the bell for a count out as the Executioner and Humungous fight to the back. Taylor and Houston are heading to the second round to face Gino and Tully but Houston may have a problem! Andre the Giant & Tony Atlas vs The Grapplers -The eruption for Andre the Giant is monstrous! He is without a doubt the biggest name in the tournament and he and Atlas make good work out of the grapplers. This one is a good match but Andre and Atlas are just too much. We see a pair of big bodyslams from Atlas and then splashes from Andre for the 1…2…3! They will go on to face Orton and Slater in the 2nd round! Terry Gordy & Stan Hansen vs Mark & Jay Youngblood -Match of the first round here. These guys go 13-minutes and go blow for blow. The Youngbloods bring their A game here but Hansen and Gordy are working on a different level! Gordy nails a nasty SPIKE on Jay while Hansen comes from across the ring with a LARIAT on Mark for the 1…2…3! They move on to face the Freebirds in what may be the most anticipated match of the 2nd round! Krusher Kruschev & Ivan Koloff vs Steve Williams & Mike Rotundo -This one breaks loose from the outset. They calm down to get about five minutes of wrestling but that’s all it is. Hacksaw Duggan is out there with the American Flag and his arm in a sling. He is the catalyst for what turns into a double disqualification for both of these teams as Ivan Koloff almost starts a riot here in Houston. They fight into the crowd as officials and agents are here to try and break this thing up. Pure CHAOS as neither team moves on and the Sheephearders get a BYE! Magnum TA & Barry Windham vs Killer Khan & Abdullah the Butcher -Another wild one to finish off the first round. The super team of Windham and Magnum have got the women in Houston going WILD! This one goes about 10-minutes and we see Abdullah and Khan attempt to break every rule in the book. Windham and Magnum step up their game and when all hell breaks loose, Windham takes Abby outside the ring while Khan gets nailed with a huge BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX for the 1…2…3!! Windham and Magnum move on to face the Midnights in round 2!!! QUICK RESULTS Rick Rude & King Kong Bundy w/ Jimmy Hart defeated Jose Lothario & Mil Mascaras The Fantastics defeated The Zumbie Express Ivan Putski & Don Muraco defeated Tiger Chung Lee & Prof. Tanaka Sam Houston & Terry Taylor defeated Lord Humungous & The Executioner Andre the Giant & Tony Atlas defeated The Grapplers Terry Gordy & Stan Hansen defeated Mark & Jay Youngblood Krusher Kruschev & Ivan Koloff & Steve Williams & Mike Rotundo went to a DRAW Magnum TA & Barry Windham defeated Killer Khan & Abdullah the Butcher -We get a little 15-minute break in between rounds. We see the Junkyard Dog come out and work the crowd and then a big showdown with Steamboat and Flair for their title match tomorrow night! We hear all the pairings for the 2nd round which starts now! Second Round – 1 Fall – 20-minute time limit (1) The Guerreros vs Rick Rude & King Kong Bundy w/ Jimmy Hart -A really hot way to get things going as the Guerreros look to be primed for a big run here in the tournament. They are the top tag team in wrestling for a reason and they show it off. Rude and Bundy appear to have some mis-communication with Jimmy Hart leading to some issues inside the ring. Hart attempts to get involved but it leads to Rude nailing Bundy and Chavo with a roll up on Rude for the 1…2…3! The Guerreros are moving on! (8) Adrian Adonis & Dick Murdoch vs The Fantastics -We continue the momentum with a great 13-minute contest. These Houston fans have seen these two teams do battle before but the Fantastic are bringing something special here tonight. Adonis and Murdoch look primed but it is a miscue on who the legal man is that leads to Bobby Fulton hitting a big dropkick on Murdoch and Rogers with a backslide on Adonis for the 1…2…3!! The Fantastics move on to face the Guerreros in the Quarter Finals! (4) The Moondogs vs Ivan Putski & Don Muraco -The Former US tag champions look to come out here to hurt Muraco and Putski more than win the contest. Once again, this is more of a dud that anything. Muraco and Putski are able to put it together as the Moondogs are all over the place and bring in the dog bones and hammer away at both men. Muraco and Putski get the DQ victory but then send the Dogs off with a nice comeback. They are moving on and the Moondogs are going home! (5) Tully Blanchard & Gino Hernandez vs Sam Houston & Terry Taylor -Tully and Gino have got so much heat right now. They walk out with their singles titles around their waists and the tag titles on their shoulders. Sam Houston has got a bandage on his forehead and it is nothing but a huge target for Hernandez and Blanchard. We see a lot of Terry Taylor but it just isn’t enough. We see Gino and Tully work him over and put him down but then Gino and Tully turn the tide to Houston and nail a SPIKE PILEDRIVER on him for the 1…2…3! They are moving on to face Putski and Muraco in the Quarter Finals! (2) Bob Orton Jr & Dick Slater vs Andre the Giant & Tony Atlas -This one has got a nice amount of heat added on as well. 23. -Huge news out of Mid South this week as Tully Blanchard and Gino Hernandez have captured the Mid South tag team titles to go along with the Mid South North American (Blanchard) and Television (Hernandez) titles. There are a lot of unhappy members of the roster due to these happenings, however there are some who know it is good for business. The plan itself was Vince McMahon's who sold the idea to Watts. The problem is, that as of today (April 1st) Bill Dundee has been brought in to take the book from McMahon. There was a release of the top tier of Mid South's advisory board... Bill Watts - Owner Jim Ross - Producer, On Air Talent Joel Watt - Producer, Head of Television Vince McMahon - Head of Talent Relations Bill Dundee - Head Booker Grizzly Smith - Assistant Booker, Head Road Agent There are some who have been behind Vince from day one, however, it was all due to loyalty to his father. When Bill Watts went up to the WWF to work for Vince Sr, Vince Jr impressed him and that led to him getting the position in Mid South. Some would say that his time has not been well spent as he has tried to change things from the inside, but there are many who feel he has done good work. With Dundee in the picture, McMahon's sole purpose is to work on contracts as he has been isolated from all other aspects of the business. Joel Watts and Jim Ross are in charge of television and getting it into more markets which could be good or bad for Mid South. In terms of talent, Jim Duggan has had some injuries as of late and will be taking some time off. He is expected to return in a couple of weeks after his batteries are recharged. Expect Ted Dibiase to be back with Mid South full time within the month with sporadic appearances throughout April. Mid South is looking to jump start a new tag team with Norvelle Austin. They have signed Koko Ware to come in when his time is done in Detroit. Vince McMahon was trying to get Bobby Heenan to come into Mid South after moving Jimmy Hart but nothing came of it as of this writing. With Dundee in the picture, he may stick with Hart who he's more comfortable with. McMahon was also able to bring in the Barbarian and Dino Bravo along with Frenchy Martin. McMahon thinks that Bravo is going to be a huge draw for Mid South if they were to continue expansion plans as he's already spent time in the Territory. He is also very high on the Barbarian. The price was Scott Hall and Lord Humungous, two very hot commodities for different purposes. Expect Wrestling II's days to be numbered. He hasn't fully healed from the knee injury and may be on the chopping block. He does have a longtime tenure in Mid South which may help him get into an executive position but it could also hurt him in the long run. In another series of heated arguments, McMahon was adamant to keep JYD off television. Watts brought him in for the $200,000 and Dundee has already said he will be back before too long. We will see how this plays out...
