  10. WWF Superstars Vince McMahon & Jesse the Body Ventura Matches from Brantford, Ontario, Canada – The Civic Centre Tito Santana vs Brutus Beefcake w/ Jimmy Hart -A pretty good opening contest with some nice heat. Jesse and Vince really put over the big issue with Tito Santana and Greg Valentine. Brutus is a placeholder for all intensive purposes here but he is coming into his own as a worker. These guys go about 11-minutes with Brutus looking to finish. Here comes Valentine down as he and Hart are cheering on Brutus. He goes for the sleeper hold but Tito runs him back into the turnbuckle and then goes for the ropes but Valentine grabs his leg. Tito looks down as he pulls up Valentine. Beefcake runs but Tito moves and Brutus nails Valentine with a high knee and he goes flying into the guardrail. Tito hits the ropes and here comes a flying forearm for the 1…2….3!! Tito gets out of the ring as Valentine is looking for revenge here. Brutus is trying to recover and Jimmy Hart is irate. Tony Atlas vs “King” Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan -A pretty good showcase for both men here as it is power and strength from Tony Atlas but the skill of Race is really on point. These guys get about 12-minutes to really put it together and boy do they. Atlas looks to get some big time momentum but in the end it is The King who has got all thins going the right way. Atlas is trying to get going towards the end but Race is coy and is able to jump over Atlas’ back and run him into the turnbuckle while driving a big knee into his back. Race then rolls him up with a hand full of tights for the 3-count! Heenan is jumping for joy as he is chanting that Race will be the new champion! TAG FESTIVAL The Machines vs The Russians -There have been very few times in which Uncle Ivan has really put on the working boots and tonight was one of them. Nikita is being built up as the supreme monster, and justifiably so as he is spectacular in this contest. The Machines both have really meshed well together and do a good job of tagging in and out and controlling the pace. We approach the 18-minute mark and it looks like the Russians may have the Machines number as Nikita hits a Russian Sickle out of nowhere on Strong that sends him out of the ring to the floor. We get a chaotic battle that spills back into the ring as it takes both Super and Strong to double clothesline Nikita out of the ring to the floor. Uncle Ivan has the chain but a DQ win won’t do it for the Machines as he runs at Super who ducks and then Strong out of nowhere with a bit boot right to the skull of Ivan that puts him down and here comes Super with a big elbow drop for the 1….2….3!! The Machines have won it! They receive 3 points. THEY HAVE WON THE TAG FESTIVAL! EVENT CENTER TAG FESTIVAL FINAL RESULTS **The Machines - 18 points** The Hart Foundation - 17 points The Fantastics – 15 points The Russians – 11 points The British Bulldogs – 9 points The Guerreros – 3 points The Faces of Fear – 3 points The Killer Bees – 3 points
  11. -Report coming out of tonight's Montreal show from the WWF is that there was some legit heat between Dino Bravo and WWF officials. Bravo was not happy about Jack Tunney being announced as the President and the issues it has caused with his "connections" in Canada. No word on if he will be at the Toronto show tomorrow night. - The WWF was happy with the results of the Tag Festival as they really put the Machines (who won), the Harts, and the Fantastics on notice with some big scores. Nikita Koloff is all but set to become the biggest heel in the company at this point. Then you have the Bulldogs, who already have a televised shot at the titles... could we see them take the gold and the Machines turn heel? That is what a lot of people are wanting to see, especially with Nikita primed for a singles run.
  12. You have to wonder, with the shows being apart as much as they were... did fans go to both or choose? Did we kill the town with a monster weekend and now the WWF at least, won't be back for 6 weeks? Have to check the dirt sheets to find out...
  13. WWF Live May 4th, 1985 Montreal, Quebec, Canada – Montreal Forum Gorilla Monsoon: Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the Montreal Forum! I am Gorilla Monoon alongside Jesse Ventura and Jess… what a night we have got here this evening. Jesse: Man Gorilla, I haven’t seen you since WrestleMania… you have been packing on the pound! Gorilla: Cool it Jess. Fans tonight we have got 7 great matches with a whole lot on the line. Of course Jesse tonight, we will see… the culmination of the tag team Festival… the winners of course getting a shot at the tag titles and perhaps some bragging rights. Jesse: Well right now all the bragging rights go to Gino Hernandez and Chris Adams. They are the champs and they are the best there is! Gorilla: I don’t quite know about that… one thing I do know that it is time to get things started… let’s head to the ring. TAG FESTIVAL The Killer Bees vs The Faces of Fear w/ Bobby Heenan Faces of Fear won via pinfall for 3 points -Gorilla and Jesse put over how the Faces of Fear finally got a win and Heenan acted like it was for the titles. They will finish in the bottom half though with only 3 points along with the Killer Bees. TAG FESTIVAL The Fantastics vs The Guerreros The Fantastics won via pinfall for 3 points -Another big win for the Fantastics who now have 15 points and are tied for the lead. There are a lot of situations that could play out here… could they be the upset to win it all? SIX-MAN TAG Randy Savage, Tony Atlas, & Dino Bravo vs Greg Valentine, Brutus Beefcake, & Jake Roberts -A big time six-man tag with Jimmy Hart doing his best work outside the ring. Dino Bravo gets a great ovation from the crowd and he really is beloved here… still some Lutte chants though. The Macho Man is acting a little more raw… a little more dastardly but nothing major. Jake Roberts doesn’t really get involved in the contest and the finish sees some chaos with Dino Bravo finishing off Brutus Beefcake with the sidewalk slam for the 3-count! The crowd gives them some love as Savage is holding Elizabeth close but the title closer. *INTERMISSION* -We return from intermission as Gene Okerlund is in the ring and he has a big announcement. He lets everyone know that there is a new PRESIDENT of the WWF and it is none other than… -JACK TUNNEY! Tunney makes his debut here in the WWF and promises to give the fans the best in sports and entertainment and says he will make sure the rules are followed and the right men are given the right opportunities. The crowd is pretty good for this one but there are some Lutte detractors who are giving him some grief. He then announces that the WWF will hold a special Summerfest show on Sunday, June the 9th from Los Angeles and the winners of the tag team festival will go on to face the champions at that time. He hypes the big matches as we approach the final two contests… Gorilla: Well Jesse, some big news there… Jack Tunney named President of the WWF. Jesse: I hope works out better than Bruno… he was a little biased if you ask me! Gorilla: Yeah and you are never biased. Jesse: I know what I like Monsoon and the fans need to see it my way. Gorilla: PLEASE! Fans the next contest coming up is going to be a big one… the Hart and the Bulldogs! Jesse: You’ve got that right Gorilla… these teams are going to play an intrical part in the scoring… Gorilla: Right now the Bulldogs are at 9 points… they are playing the spoiler. The Harts have 14… if they win this one by pinfall, they could jump up and win it all. Jesse: Isn’t it great Monsoon! Let’s go to the ring! TAG FESTIVAL The British Bulldogs vs The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart -They have had good matches before but this one really pumps it up and for 15-minutes we see two of the best teams at their finest. The Bulldogs show off some strength against the Anvil who is right there with them and then Bret comes in and he is really getting into a groove. Jimmy Hart surprisingly doesn’t play a part, which is a good thing and we end up with a chaotic finish. The Harts go for the Hart attack but Davey Boy out of nowhere dropkicks Bret in the chest and sends him flying. Dynamite then rolls up the Anvil but the referee is moving Davey out of the ring and Bret somehow gets over and pushes Anvil over… then goes and double legs Davey Boy as Anvil has the roll up for the 1…2…3! The Harts have won via Pin Fall and they get 3 points to get into the lead with 17! -Gorilla and Jesse put that last match over in the biggest way and then really pumped up the big one between the Russians and the Machines. Right now the Russians have 11 points, so they are in the role of spoiler. The Harts have now taken the lead and eliminated the Fantastics from contention. They still have 15 points and are tied with the Machines. The Machines have to win via Pin Fall in order to win it all… if they win via count out or DQ then we go to a sudden death match and if the match is a draw, the Harts would win. A lot of scenarios to play out… let’s take it to the ring. TAG FESTIVAL FINAL RESULTS **The Machines - 18 points** The Hart Foundation - 17 points The Fantastics – 15 points The Russians – 11 points The British Bulldogs – 9 points The Guerreros – 3 points The Faces of Fear – 3 points The Killer Bees – 3 points -Gorilla and Jesse really put this through the roof and the crowd goes wild for the Machines who really work the fans. They now have a date with destiny is one month at Summerfest in Los Angeles against the champions… but who will that be? Tito Santana vs “King” Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan -A pretty simple contest with Tito really working hard here with the King who is on top of things tonight. We get a good 12-minute contest with a manager finish as Tito looks to Superplex Race… Heenan runs up and holds his leg for Race to counter and land right on top of him for the 3 count. The King is the winner tonight and Tito is looking for some revenge on Heenan. Gorilla and Jesse really pump up the big main event here as we see Studd who looks humungous taking on the champion. They talk about how Hogan will have to defend the title tomorrow night against Bundy if he wins… Jesse points out the potential Studd vs Bundy match that could happen then when Studd wins! WWF CHAMPIONSHIP Hulk Hogan © vs Big John Studd w/ Bobby Heenan -A pretty formulaic 14-minute match with Hogan starting hot… Studd coming back and dominating… Heenan getting involved… Studd looking to finish before Hogan hulks up in a big way. A trio of big punches… the big boot…. The bodyslam… the leg drop and then the 3 count and the champion retains. Hogan gets his hands on Heenan and sends him flying before posing for 10-minutes. The crowd eats it up and HULKAMANIA is really becoming something to behold.
  14. WWF Wrestling Challenge Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby The Brain Heenan in studio Matches from Brantford, Ontario, Canada – The Civic Centre Gino Hernandez & Chris Adams defeated SD Jones & Pez Whatley -A nice showcase for the tag team champions. We get an inset interview from Hernandez and Adams who gloat about being the Mexican and WWF Tag Champions and say they have signed a big match in Japan to win those titles and are going to show the world why they are simply the best! Nikita Koloff w/ Ivan Koloff defeated Jose Louis Rivera -Nikita rips off Rivera’s head with the Sickle. Ivan is pumping him up for the big SNME match against Hillbilly. He says there will be nothing left of him! The Fantastics vs The Faces of Fear -Some really fun tag team action here with the Fantastics and Faces of Fear. There is some real miscommunication between them and Heenan and it ends up costing them as Heenan is trying to shout instruction, Rogers and Fulton double dropkick Barb into Haku and they smash heads and then Fulton with the roll up for the 1…2….3!! The Fantastics continue their hot streak and get 3 more points! WWF EVENT CENTER TAG TEAM FESTIVAL The Machines vs The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart -The Hart Foundation won via count out to get 2 points – Jimmy Hart held Super’s leg outside the ring The British Bulldogs vs The Russians The Russians won via pinfall for 3 points The Fantastics vs the Faces of Fear w/ Bobby Heenan The Fantastics won via pinfall for 3 points The Killer Bees vs The Guerreros The Killer Bees won via pinfall for 3 points TAG FESTIVAL RESULTS The Machines - 15 points The Hart Foundation - 14 points The Fantastics – 12 points The Russians – 11 points The British Bulldogs – 9 points The Guerreros – 3 points The Killer Bees – 3 points The Faces of Fear – 0 points MAIN EVENT Chavo Guerrero vs Jay Youngblood -A solid main event that has been building for a while. We see Bass, Lanza, and Bart comes out to try and stir things up before we see Mando and Hector come out as well. There is some chaos outside the ring before the finish as Jay Youngblood is looking to chop Chavo right in the throat but out of the back… that is Mark Youngblood! He walks out with his head bandaged up from the fractured orbital bone… Jay is looking on before Chavo chops him in the back of the neck and then a back suplex for the 1…2….3! The Guerreros go out of the ring and walk past Mark who looks at Jay… this one is heating up and we are on the brink of a big meltdown! WWF LIVE FROM MONTREAL WILL BE AIRING SOON!
  15. Very fun show with some spectacular finishes and happenings. It is just too bad David has died as he would be such a great attribute to any promotion and would be a special person to have right here in the UWF. Dusty as champ is the right direction but part of me wonders if it wasn't time to cash in on Idol and his Rougeu win and just put him over the top. I know with the WWF it is a babyface territory but it seems like down south, the heel champ and babyface chase is what the draw is. I am sure you will come up with something special for it and it will be great to see where it goes.

  17. This exactly. Thank you Gene.
  18. I just went through my roster and made some cuts down to 40 and it is difficult but doable. I think it will open up some people to move around and with the jobbers...those guys like Gene said could be used somewhere else. The biggest issue being that we are adding to the free agency pool but we aren't putting in someone who may drastically change a promotion but definitely putting some hands in who could help promotions. I think all of us could then look at our promotions and see if there are areas for us to give and take and reevaluate what we've got and what we can share. We would just have to keep hard on the 40 cap for wrestlers/managers without the jobber packs... you could still sign someone, like a Steve Lombardi to be your token jobber and be an enhancement type guy which could work. As of right now it would be hard for me to keep an SD Jones in this equation but it would definitely be a spot for him to put someone over... because remember... someone has to lose.
  19. Exactly right... I apologize fellas. So cap will go to 49 June 1st... 50 on January first. You have the freedom to utilize the individuals on your roster however you would like. I would still like to have the conversation at some point about doing away with the jobber packs and just use fake names... it serves the same purpose but allows individuals in those packs to be utilized in other promotions rather than being jobbers. I think in doing this... we would definitely look to drop the cap down with it though. 40-45 is more than enough to work with and that frees up some people to be utilized in other ways by other people. I know I can make the change down the line if others can. This then allows for some different talent in free agency if we need to expand that if need be.
  20. http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/32734-proposal-jobber-section/ I would be more than willing to do away with the jobber packs completely... lower the cap... then just use fake names for jobbers. It serves the same purpose at this point and it also helps to free people up for roster movement or new writers or expanding rosters or whatever the case may be.
  21. Where is 60 coming from? The cap is 50... with managers, jobber packs, and wrestlers... are you trying to lump in jobber packs as part of the 60? If you want someone in a pack, ask for them? What do we need to do for more writers? No one has knocked on the door in a while and those who have (Gammas to Mexico, Gordi to Japan, and you) have all be given rosters. Do we need to lower the cap and give up talent? If we had an influx of people to join then we could definitely look at it. If the argument is that people won't even look, then I am sure there are ways to fix the windows to clear the picture. Tell me exactly what needs to happen to fix what you see is a problem and we will work towards fixing it. Passively arguing isn't going to get us where we as a group need to be.
  22. I don't think there was a "point" to be got throughout all of this other than the game can change in an instant and people will be able to move freely throughout. In 1985 there was not this random group of talent not working. All of us have people in spots and I would encourage everyone, like I did, to take a look at their rosters and offer up some people for you. I know that is the frustration but these things can and will change. The CAP is a way to set a boundary to work within. It is not meant to be a load up on free agency type deal but more of a way to manage what you have the best way possible within the framework of the 50 or for anyone who only wants 10,20,30, or 40 spots.
  23. NBC and WWF Present: SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT Join the top stars of the WWF for PRIME TIME Wrestling action on NBC Saturday May the 18th for SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT. MAIN EVENT 10-MAN TAG TEAM MATCH The Machines versus The Bobby Heenan Family (Harley Race, John Studd, King Kong Bundy, Haku, & the Barbarian) WWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP The British Bulldogs vs Gino Hernandez & Chris Adams © SPECIAL CHALLENGE MATCH Hillbilly Jim vs Nikita Koloff w/ Ivan Koloff 2/3 FALLS TAG TEAM MATCH Tito Santana & Dino Bravo vs Greg Valentine & Brutus Beefcake w/ Jimmy Hart
  24. The point is not to change a promotion, rather allow opportunity for growth within or around the specific individuals a promotion has, regardless of free agency. The cap is not what you have to have in terms of a number but rather the most that you can have. You have the freedom to utilize those 50 spots or even 20... depending on how you want. That is your choice. We will have the rookie draft in December for next year's fresh faces which will allow some growth. Again, not a huge opportunity but maybe 2-3 spots for some fresh young talent will work and then "older' talent may be freed up to come in as well. Again this is an organic game with change. People come and people go, we know this. There will be roster movement over the next 2-3 months. People will be freed up to move around.
  25. Small proposal out there... With June 1st coming up... I would open the option for a 49th spot for your roster for a jobber pack, manager, or worker... then on January 1st we set the cap at 50. If we make it to 1987... then we can move the cap up. 50 is MORE than enough to move around with. What do you guys think? June 1st cap to 49 January 1st cap to 50 and it stays at 50 for all of 1986?
