And right into the Rumble
-
I would gues it'll be on around 20 or 25 after

Also, if they mess up the timing on the ret of the PPV, you might get your wish.

I have faith they'll do something different than their previous matches as Tanahashi seems quite aware of changing things up semi-logically throughout his series, but as much as I would love a big bomb sprint, I can't see them doing that. Though the rage online if they do will be fantastic.

Suzuki/Sakuraba is the match you're most interested in? It is for me. I'll admit to being shocked that, on this card, that is anyone's most anticipated match. I remain amazed that people think Okada v. Tanahashi is even a very good series, let alone an all time classic series. But I"ve largely given up trying to understand it and just accept it for what it is. Diff'rent strokes.... I generally despise shoot style, but Suzuki is great, so I'll see which one wins out. As for Tanahashi/Okada, it's not my all time favourite series, but I like Okada 's comebackish story, and since this will likely be their last big match up for at leadt a while (and should be the peak of their series overall), I'm hoping to be blown away. You're not a big fan of Tanahashi though, so I see where you wouldn't care much. I think Sakuraba ia atrocious as a pro wrestler, so I know how you feel.

Nope....New Japan World is strictly in japanese. I'll probably check out some of the English commentary sow tomorrow, but I'm going to try and stay up and watch the japanese show tonight. I'm half afraid that the English commentary is going to take away from the wrestling. Not being distracted by dumb comments is probably half the reason watching in japanese is so fun. I wish themes weren't edited out though.

Voices of Wrestling NJPW 2014: Year in Review (eBook)
Shining Wiz replied to W2BTD's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Named my price as $10....you guys deserve it for the effort at the very least. Going to settle in and read this to get myself even more jazzed up for Sunday morning. Good work and thanks for taking the time to put something like this together. -
That's wonderful, but please stop trolling. No, really. Not trolling. Just legitimately don't take my pro wrestling reporting seriously enough to be concerned if a reporter does commentary for a wrestling show. I'm honestly shocked that this upsets anyone. I'm not upset. However, if the top tv reporter and critic started working for fox, what would you think? Would you want to read what they had to say about any other network then? About as much as I would otherwise.

If it turned out that Meltzer has actually been on WWE's payroll for the last 30 years and they use him to plant stories......I still wouldn't care.

This "controversy" is hilarious.

Punk on Off the Record on TSN. Worth a watch.....good contest to see who could out dick the other.

Who are the top 10 lower mid-carders in history?

Since I'm never one not to stick my nose in where it doesn't need to be, I have to say you're being about ten times more pointlessly stubborn than Parv is being. Now that I'm done giving away two unwanted cents, what Joe posted above is dead on. If you work main events, you get more opportunities for good matches. You guys have made Joe the calm voice of reason. Just think about that for a moment. I have no idea if I should be insulted, flattered, or both. If you go with both, you're at least half right. -
I'll reiterate my Ron Starr suggestion. He's a guy who kicked around as a big name for small regionals and put on good matches on the lower levels of bigger promotions. Made a career as a nomad from the late 70s to the early 90s and is one of the last guys to have a career like that. He's my pet project for this project.

They can put Punk in against anyone and it sells. The Power Ranger might be a good choice, but he doesn't really add much to the promotional equation really. And even if he beats Punk, he gets eaten alive in his next fight if there is one.

Women matches get graded on a curve because if everyone starts as a 5/10, and they keep working against 5/10s, they stay 5/10s. NXT has mixed in some 6s and 7s, trained by a 7 or an 8, and the match quality is improving accordingly.

Should New Japan be creating their next generation of new talent?
Shining Wiz replied to Ship Canal's topic in Pro Wrestling
I'd say Tanahashi and Nakamura are working styles not remotely like Misawa et al. Also, I'd point out that Sasaki (I'm assuming you mean Kensuke?) would be a contemporary of Misawa and Kobashi, and Tenryu's best run was at the same time they were getting going. -

I'm by no mean an expert on young lions, but Tanaka and Komatsu are good. Their opener on the ppv this weekend was a really good match, and both guys have charisma to burn. Add in that the Okada is in his mid 20's, they're trying to make something big of Ibushi, KUSHIDA has some potential, and, since it's not uncommon for Japanese stars to have some pretty impressive sustained runs well into thier 40s, you've got another 5-10 years of Tanahashi, Nakamura, Goto, Ishii, etc.... Throw in the potential that Watanabe and/or Takahashi turn out well, and they actually appear to be in really good shape.
