  1. Maybe MJF not looking like enough of a threat is down to his ring work? But I don't get the argument about his size because I think he looks pretty thick. His arms and chest are more muscular than Cody's.
  2. Dave mentioned on WOR that Awesome Kong will be out for a bit to film the new season of GLOW so that makes it convenient to drop the angle. I do kinda dislike not having a proper explanation on TV but that would probably involve a Brandi vs Mel match that the world does not need.
  3. For my money, Omega had great matches with Naito, Goto, Ishii, ZSJ and Jericho in his NJPW run. Lots of people were high on the Tanahashi match from the 2019 Wrestle Kingdom as well (I don't think I've seen it the whole way through.
  4. I'm nothing to do with the dementia thing. But I don't think Cornette is just some great worker who's pulling the wool over the eyes of all the marks or whatever.
  5. If he's falling out with real life friends over it then he is working himself into a shoot because his act is having a detrimental impact on his life. Fine. His choice. But I hate this idea that any time Cornette says something stupid he's just working us all because he's such a smart worker as opposed to being someone who has a track record of allowing his temper to negatively impact his life and career.
  6. As if Omega vs Okada wouldn't sell out a US arena. If that were to be announced with 6 months promotion, it would be a show fans would travel for.
  7. He honestly might be more pissed off about their success than Vince McMahon
  8. Jim is so pathetic. It's wrestling. I know his twitter persona is meant to be drumming up business for his podcast and merch gimmicks but he's beyond working himself into a shoot. He's really no different to Russo, Bischoff, Prichard etc by this point. And he'll be remembered way more for this stuff than any positive contribution he may have made to wrestling. It's amazing how much AEW existing and doing relatively well has broken his brain.
  9. Lol Thatcher vs Brock? Good luck with that. It would rule for sure but it has as much chance of happening of me winning the lottery and then buying up all of WWE's cheap ass stock. Sadly, so many of these signings barely make it on to TV for the Wednesday show. Whatever became of Jake Atlas for example?
  10. Jeez, Zizou was 26 in 1998? He already kinda looked old as fuck by then.
  11. I saw someone elsewhere describe Will vs Zack as fine dining while Shingo vs Goto was steak with no frills. I think that's a pretty good description. Both were awesome but Will vs Zack might be my favourite match of the year so far.
  12. Interesting. I guess the equivalent in football (soccer) is the midfield playmaker and I guess they probably peak in their late 20s/early 30s. Teenagers who burst onto the scene and take the game by storm tend to be forwards and wingers who can get by on pure pace.
  13. Is 24 particularly young in American Football?
  14. Even then, her corporate influence seems to be in name only. She's pretty much a 'brand ambassador' they can wheel out to do a TV spot or a conference panel.
  15. Presumably she's saying that she wasn't just a fifth choice to appear because those others didn't want to do it?
  16. I can't imagine Shane appeasing Wall Street any more than HHH would. What is his actual business pedigree? Presumably nothing exceptionally successful or he wouldn't be back with WWE and jumping off of shit.
  17. If Vince McMahon is going to throw away money on a guy the crowd is dying to cheer for because he gave Brock a stiff knee almost two years before, then more fool him. But it's not like Vince hasn't been leaving money on the table with hot acts forever now anyway.
  18. It should be a big talking point about how much they screwed up Strowman and missed the boat on turning him into a major star. Unfortunately, they've done that consistently for the last ten years while making approx 3-5 actual stars in the same period (generous interpretation of the word star here).
  19. 9 days til XFL everybody
  20. The guy has been boring for 75% of his career. Let's not get carried away on the strength of a good angle.
  21. I was totally over Jericho during his later WWE runs but now he's my favourite thing in wrestling. He understands that you need to have a combination of ridiculousness and reality and to look as if you believe it all equally.
  22. Can't wait til she headbutts the windows out of Charlotte's car or some shit
  23. I thought this was a really strong match. Maybe it was the impact of the boat and wrestling at sea but it seemed like some of the more movez aspect of AEW tag matches were toned down here and I thought the match was better for it. There was some arm work in the beginning for example. Page in particular got some nice impact onto his lariats. There was a good sense of escalation in the moves which we don't always see in the weekly tag spotfests. I enjoyed the storytelling beats too, with Omega getting taken out and Page having to go it alone in the closing stretch to take the titles. They're slow building this eventual feud and laying the groundwork for Page's turn very nicely, both through the post-match stuff and promos but also in how the matches are worked. Good TV wrestling. ****
  24. Just get Cole off TV tbh. I can't even bare to hear his voice anymore. Him shouting "Oh my!" in that way of his completely took me out of the moment for Edge returning.
  25. I'm not hugely into McIntyre but at least it's WWE actually giving someone new a superstar push. I presume Heyman is behind this. Hopefully they stick the landing in the build and don't get too stupid with it like they did with the women's main event last year.
