Mate that's exactly how I feel and I AM doing a podcast! Yeah, but the accent automatically makes yours a pleasant listen, so you've got that going for you.

In my case I don't actively hate HHH the way most guys around here do. I hated him from 02-05 because of the way he was booked (and we can debate all night how much of that was his doing), and yes, his match quality really sucked in that period. But I loved his 1999-2001 run, particuarly the idea of the mega-asshole heel who could back it up. That was just such a foreign thing for the WWF that I got very into it, even if I wasn't ever what I would consider a HHH fanboy. In the end I ended up overrating him because of where my head happened to be at when I put that final ballot together (lots of things I would change already), but it's not like I voted for a guy I don't like. He's just a really hard guy to get my head around in terms of my own opinion of him because it's nearly impossible to find anybody around here who doesn't openly shit on him and that doesn't align with what I think of him, so there's a huge problem in trying to not be influenced by the masses screaming "FUCK HHH" while also not over-compensating to counteract them, as if I was on some personal mission to secure his spot on the final 100 (I'm not). In the end I think that's where this project failed me and I failed it, as I tried too hard to serve too many masters. Some guys I ranked based more on my fondness for them. Some guys I ranked based more on reputation (and my ability to see in a limited look at them that they earned it). Some guys I ranked because of their high level of great match output. Some guys I ranked because they did great character work. Some guys I ranked for being consistently good, so guys for having such intense peaks. I never really settled on a singular approach and my ballot would change frequently depending on where I was at the time. The final result was a jumbled mess that, I think, for the most part represents a solid cross-section of greatness, but which to my own mind doesn't hold up well to any serious scrutiny. If I had to do a podcast defending my list like so many others have done, it would be a terrible listen, because my justification for a lot of it would be lacking.

Well, the moment finally came. This stupid Avatar Of Shame game was my idea and I've been patiently waiting for the name to drop that would seal my fate. I had assumed it was going to wind up being Triple H, just as a sort of karmic justice for what I've done, but thankfully the gods be kind. I have no regrets for my Roddy Strong ranking and my only disappointment stems from the fact that his photo is not nearly ridiculous enough. Play on.

I feel I should come clean and admit to having HHH on my ballot. I don't think he's the greatest ever, nor do I even particularly enjoy him must of the time, but I do think if I am to objective, he should be represented here.He represents a form of wrestling I'm not very high on, but he has been very successful and influential within that arena for nearly two decades. Matches such as his Wrestlemania encounters with The Undertaker for example may not be my cup of tea but were accepted as great by a great many WWE fans. In that sense he was playing to please his audience in the same way Misawa and Kobashi were playing to please their audience in All Japan. Just because we are not he audience he is playing to please does not necessarily mean he's not good (or rather hasn't been good, because he's been truly rotten of late) at what he does. In that sense I felt it would not be right for me to write him off entirely, so his ranking on my list was grudging but what I felt was fair. Yeah, 100% this. I ranked HHH, probably too high, because I like some of his stuff even while I hate some of his stuff. I get *why* most folks around here hate him, even if sometimes I think it makes them blind to when he's good. But I tended to view some of the high end WWE guys through the prism of what they meant to WWE and that style, regardless of how I personally felt about them. Impact on the business and historical place in it were things I considered as part of my formula. Looking back at my ballot though I find that I was wildly inconsistent in how I did it. Ah well. I'll wear my scarlet letter when the time comes, I guess.

That's in interesting remark considering 00s WWE is generally shit upon by the majority of people on this board. I went into this thinking most of those workers would be under-represented. *shrug*

Yeah, your vote on Ryo Saito kept him from becoming my Avatar of Shame (I had him at 96). He's the only one of my 100 to drop so far. Kind of a weird vanity pick for me since I haven't seen a ton of Dragon Gate or Toryumon, but everytime he pops up in my viewing I've found myself strangely drawn to him. He kinda reminds me of Tito Santana for some reason. Just this really intense babyface who wrestles every match like it's life or death.
