The date for the Wahoo/Race match is 100% correct. Below is the Feb 3 1978 program cover. They usually put the next weeks main event on the front so that would make Harley/Wahoo take place on Feb 10 1978. Also notice during the match Wahoo is wearing his black trunks which after 1978 I believe he did not wear again and changed to the double strap singlet. I'm going to rule out the other 3 Wahoo/Race matches from 1978 for these reasons 3/24/78 - Pat O'Connor is the referee 5/28/78 - The match took place at the Summit not Sam Houston Coliseum 6/25/78 - It's a Texas Death Match in a cage. In a list I saw of World Title matches in the library that were cataloged. These Wahoo/Race matches were listed 2-10-78 NWA TITLE - HARLEY RACE VS. WAHOO McDANIEL 6-01-79 NWA TITLE - HARLEY RACE VS. Wrong date Bruce, its 10/30/81 part of the 3 day tournament. His son Kelly Kiniski is on the 7/24 show. On to the match, Gene is 52 here and looked great here, lots of energy, he could still go. Always heard he had great stamina and it's kinda proven here. A fun match.

I liked Dusty v Duggan, Dusty is so charismatic and boy can he bleed, the post match brawl was great, loved the natural reaction of these crowds. And Brody is such a good promo, brings that intensity and confidence that you want out of the good guys. Great stuff. Also finished the Pritchard podcast on Houston and it was very good even though I still dont like Conrad. Just reading Bruce's twitter it seems everybody underestimated the Houston territory. Seems to be everyones favorite podcast thus far. Just hearing Pritchard talk about Wahoo & Johnny Valentine you just hope there's a match in the library of those two. But overall an enjoyable listen, some great stories and hearing Bruce you can tell that Houston has a special place in his heart.

Here is an excerpt from Paul Boesch's book. "In December 1980, when my lack of communication with Southwest Sports was at a harmful impasse, I was approached by Southwest Championship Wrestling.This was the same group that had failed to establish a viable, competitive promotion in Houston. The meetings led to a cooperative effort. I maintained my independent status as a promoter but I used SWCW as a source of talent. I also used the television producing facilities which they owned to supplement my own outlet on Channel 39. And I notified Southwest Sports in Dallas of my decision to end our relationship. I had given the matter considerable thought and realized that Houston was ready for a change in talent. Our first card of 1981 was an exciting mixture of men from various areas of the country and we got off to a good start. Wahoo still had the magic Houston fans wanted and his experience was a matchmaking gift."

The 1/2/81 card is complete. I thought it was missing the battle royal but apparently it was already on the site with the wrong date and found this message on the '2 Ring Battle Royal' match. This video bears a title with an incorrect date (January 4, 1980). January 4, 1980 is the date of an earlier 2-ring Battle Royal also featuring Andre the Giant. The January 4, 1980 Battle Royal has not been published on our service yet.

Whatever Brisco v Funk match this is I want it. I believe it's from 1971. Would love to see it in the next Hidden gems collection. Hope my gifs work.

I just listened to the 'History in the Making' podcast by Matt Farmer and Court Bauer on Houston Wrestling. This was not good. They barely mention any feuds or famous matches, they got dates wrong, it was mainly a behind the scenes type conversation. They didn't even mention NWAonDemand once which I couldn't believe. If they saw some of the matches it would have helped them alot in discussing guys like Gino, Chavo, Bock, Wahoo etc. I would recommend listening to Peter Birkholz (Boesch's nephew) on the 605pod. "If you were thinking this would have all these rare classics, you're going to be very disappointed in the service. The vast majority has been easily found online for many years, and is edited or short TV matches". "You're not going to be getting long Flair/Harley/Brisco/Funk classics on this." They should have waited another day. It's disappointing that more people aren't into it and it seems giving bank details to a 3rd party is putting people off which is a shame since I think the best is yet to come, but clearly people are expecting WAY to much these days.

Gino/Chavo: just a few thoughts. Really liked this match. It was so nice I watched it twice. Great seeing Thesz here. Gino kicks the piss out of a fan, here come the cops and Boesch, That's how you get heat. Really liked Chavo's offense, his submissions looked painful. The crowd reactions are fantastic throughout especially at the end. I wanted Thesz to hit Gino. Overall a enjoyable main event with a great crowd, It doesn't get any better than that. And to think this isn't the last time we'll see these two.

Thesz vs Longson - 6/17/52 Starr vs Keomuka - 1952 (not enough info for actual date) There is actually TWO Starr/Keomuka matches so I did some serious digging. I compared both matches and they weren't the same, they wrestled 5 times in 1952 in single matches. The match on WWE's World Class dvd and the 27 minute match on youtube are the same. That date is 11/18/52.

Angle's neck was holding on by a thread coming into this match. I think Benoit was a substitute for Angle if he couldn't make it. I thought the match was as good as your gonna get with the circumstances.

Date for Dory Funk vs Moon Mulligan is 11/20/81. This wasn't a bad match, Dory show some nice moves but overall your standard opening match.** There is still a lot of matches unavailable including Valentine/Curry and a few Funk matches so hopefully they can get that sorted soon.

This Chavo vs Twin Devil 2 match is pretty good. Never heard of the Twin Devils they look like a good team. Hope the tag match gets posted soon and Chavo is just great, he is challenging Eddie for best Guerrero.

I really enjoyed the squash matches. You know who's going to win but I couldn't help but chuckle when the jobber gets an offensive move in and the crowd screams like he has a chance. Also enjoyed Rodger Kent's commentary, solo commentary is the best.
