What Happened When with Tony Schiavone
NickH replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I actually like the live watching episodes myself, I listened to the Havoc 95 episode the other day and Tony is hilarious on it. Anytime Okerland did an backstage interview Tony would go full dirty talk and I couldn't stop laughing. -
As soon as Angle said replacement, I thought who's left, then Steph came out and I thought, oh it's HHH. What's the change tally up to now?

Bare with me I trying to learn how to send a private message. I've never sent one.

The Rockers/Harts is on the Shawn Michaels Heartbreak & Triumph dvd. I've read Mid Atlantic gets added in January according to PWInsider. I'm not sure how much 70s footage exists, I thought 81 was the earliest when they started saving shows.

[2003-05-18-WWE-Judgment Day] Brock Lesnar vs Big Show (Stretcher)
NickH replied to Superstar Sleeze's topic in May 2003
Brock jumping off the forklift was fucking awesome. Jesse Owens would be proud of that jump. -
This seemed like a reality check for Angle, he wins the IC & Euro belt, wins KOTR and now he's picking on Undertaker. Talk about biting off more than you can chew. I get people being upset about Angle losing but to me 10 years of experience beats 8 months, corny rookies should not beat serious veterans. Kurt got in enough offense to not get totally squashed and Taker did enough to win but not totally dominate. The right call was made here.

What are people's thoughts on Angle. I thought he did really good tonight, he's slower but looked fine to me. I wonder if they will do Angle v Shane at SS.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHgXqia53ag Commentator says first time Nick & Ray teaming in 3 years. This is just a fun fun match. Nick & Ray are just great to watch, every tag team needs to study these guys. ***3/4 The legend of Ray Stevens wrestling ability really has intrigue me and I think a lot of people. After hearing Flair say he was the best he had ever seen, we are still searching for the Stevens gem just to see what everyone else saw in him. But the reality is we might be disappointed if we do get prime footage of Stevens and realize he was Shawn Michaels just 20 years earlier. But in the 70s I would totally understand why he was so good because he brought a style that nobody else was doing and therefore stood out from the pack. But I'm glad we have these older matches to watch and maybe imagine just how good he was.

Great reaction, also same guy below would you believe. Would give Harley a run for his money.

Hey Sleeze, the Valentine v Santana match from 11/26/84 is on the WWE Network.

Considering everyone talks about the MSG one, you wouldn't even know there was a second one on tape, I was surprised when I found it and wondered. could it live up to the New York one? Was Sarge going to bleed buckets again? I couldn't wait to find out. Well I guess they didn't make I LOVE PHILLY T-Shirts so Pat comes out in a red Adidas tank-top and cowboy boots. Out comes Slaughter and the match is on, from the get go Pat with right hands in the corner and a kick in the mid section where Sarge is having a fit and another kick for good measure. Body slam by Pat, jumps to the second rope and delivers a huge knee to Slaughter's neck. Another kick by Pat and Slaughter goes over the top rope to the floor. Great start. I just realized this is only the 1st minute. I'll try to condense this a little better or this is going to be a long review. Pat has taken off his belt but Slaughter with a punch to the face, now there are fighting for the belt with Pat grabbing it and whipping Slaughter multiple times in the face and back, busty girl cheering on Pat in the front row, Sarge getting choked in the corner and rakes Patterson in the eyes. Pat now with the belt around his fist and Slaughter hits a big dropkick to knock Pat down. Slaughter gains an advantage with some kicks with his combat boots and now looks to take control. Sarge with some payback with the belt but Pat fights back but then Slaughter hits a BIG back suplex. That girl is worried now, Sarge with the cobra clutch, Pat finally breaks it so Slaughter picks him up for a backbreaker. Sarge heads to the top and heads down with a boot to the face of Patterson. Sarge again to the top and down with another boot but his momentum has him rolling to the outside and crashing into the announce table. Both men are down. Sarge once again on the top rope but Pat is moving around the ring so Slaughter thinks twice. Pat with a punch to the gut and now slingshots Slaughter into the ring post, you know what this means. Nope I can't see blood yet, Pat with some kicks the head, his got the belt now and choking Sarge with it. They exchange blows now with Sarge getting the upper hand and now Sarge had pulled some tape out of his shirt and chokes Pat with it. That girl is still cheering for Pat. Pat escapes the choke and now has taken off one of his boots and clobbers Slaughter in the head. WE GOT A BLEEDER, not as bad as MSG, I dont think Sarge could top that one but it's still nasty and now Pat is all fired up, another hit with the boot, and another, and another, now Pat has got his other boot off, hit with the right, a hit with the left, Pat is "kicking" the shit out of Slaughter. Sarge gets slammed back into the ring, man those cowboy boots are getting worn out and now Slaughter rolls out of the ring and heads back to the dressing room. IT'S OVER. Well that was enjoyable. Not as good as the MSG one but a very good successor. I wish we had more Alley Fights on tape, they certainly are unique. If you can find it check it out. I'm giving this one ****

Well, a new youtube page for NWA Wrestling just started and in the comments section someone asked about classic NWA matches being uploaded with the current stuff and they replied "This is the channel you'll find content moving forward". Listening to Dave Lagana this week, he has clearly said they don't want anything behind a paywall because they want to build an audience first. He said Corgan would rather have 300,000 fans getting content for free than 4,000 fans behind a paywall and so it wouldn't surprise me if old matches start showing up on youtube. Keep a look out.

Judgment Day 2002 vs Jericho
-
All I see is Tharpe's email, but no matches. It's done...... for now.
-
I was just thinking of Smackdown and thought......... why not put the title on Shane. Vince clearly thinks he's a draw, they put him in another cell match so why not. Tell me that wouldn't be more interesting than Jinder. Would love to see a Shane/Styles rematch. With all these half empty arenas lately, do you think Wrestlemania will sell out next year? Could you imagine a half empty Superdome.

WELCOME TO RAW IS...Oh, sorry habit, TALK IS JERRRIIICHO!
NickH replied to SteveJRogers's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I think for a 87 year old, I thought Destroyer was really good. It took a while to get used to his raspy voice but after 5 minutes the interview was great. There were a few exaggerations like the Superbowl being watched by 30 million but I think Jericho was just being nice and keeping the interview moving forward. I like that Jericho is really making an effort getting these legends from the 60s and 70s on. First Bruno now Destroyer, I wonder who's next or maybe... who's left? Still waiting for someone to interview Taker. -
Credit: PWInsider PWInsider has a new report out today on the future of NWA, the transition of ownership from Bruce Tharpe to Corgan, and when Corgan will take over. According to the report, the new era under Corgan is slated to start on October 1. All the member promotions who had licenses to use the NWA initials and branding under previous owner Bruce Tharpe will expire the day before on September 30, which is this upcoming Saturday. Moving forward, the future of the NWA will be based on the new leadership of Corgan and Dave Lagana. Additionally, the NWA On Demand video streaming service will be shut down during the transition. This is a result of Corgan purchasing Tharpe’s interest in the Paul Boesch Houston territory library. The ownership of said library will reportedly remain with the Boesch family, but Corgan will have the ability to “control” the library moving forward.

I cant believe that WWE has AJ Styles and Jinder Mahal is their champion. This is why I don't watch current WWE.

I watched the Rumble match between them which I hadn't seen before and thought it was a really good match but with 2 restarts and a no contest it wasn't exactly the ending I was hoping for, but lucky for us we get another match here which is by far their best match together and with no restarts and no interference and the NO DQ stip, this match could finally kick it into top gear. There is so much in this match it would take forever to describe so i will keep it short. - Vince and JR did a fantastic job on commentary, along with Perfect chipping in. - Bret is the best I've seen in big man vs little man matches. - Diesel, take a bow, this is your best match ever. Selling was top-notch. - The table spot was awesome, so unexpected. I thought the finish made Diesel look silly but at least it was clean and the post match was great. My MOTY for 1995 ****3/4

Gimmick Match of the Month: The Lumberjack Match (September 2017)
NickH replied to peachchaos's topic in Pro Wrestling
Not a favorite match of mine but two that come to mind as far as quality matches go are Valentine vs Santana 3/17/85 MSG Backlund vs Buddy Rose 11/25/82 Spectrum I think Steamboat and Vader had a decent one in wcw as well.
