  1. Fun fun fun. Really enjoy watching these two.***1/2 Shawn at this point I would think would remind fans of Ziggler right now, just a guy that bumps with no substance, no reason. It's a really good throwaway match that you can do once in a while but at some point either you evolve into a main eventer or you get stuck in the midcard. I'm mentioning Ziggler because I can imagine him vs the Bulldog here. The difference is Shawn evolved into a great main eventer, whereas I can see Dolph having this sort of match every week but not getting anywhere.
  2. FANTASTIC MATCH, This could be arguably, the best match Davey Boy ever had. His matches with Bret are very good but he seemed to be on another level here. He's not the smoothest wrestler like Shawn and there are always some brain fade moments in his matches but those mistakes looked very minor in this match. I actually didn't mind the headlocks because it was after some big moves and therefore he was further weakening Shawn so it worked. The surfboard spot looked great and painful, I thought Shawn was going to get his arms ripped off. Just when everything was going well........the finish happened. What was this. I'm not sure if Earl was supposed to stay down so Perfect could count or if Owen was to grab Earl instead of Perfect. I don't know but it's a minor issue that didn't ruin the match. Post match was great too. ****1/2
  3. I'm watching this as I typing and all I can say is this is weird. I just realized no one is commentating lol. I'm about 10 minutes in and I cant really describe it, it's just a lot of screaming and noise and now the signal is gone and the fans are pissed, oh we are back, nope out again, ok now we are back. Now Mankind has fallen off a ladder. This is insane. Fire extinguisher to the face of Mankind. Now Mankind is out of the Boiler Room, how the hell do you win this thing? Now they're fighting in the hall with the locker room cheering on. HOT COFFEE THROWN ON TAKER holy shit. Out to the live crowd now, this is great. TVs at ringside, really, too bad it's not 2017 where the tvs are 100 inches. Oh shit, Mankind's head just split on the concrete floor, how the hell has mick survived all this. Mankind with the mandible claw and Paul Bearer has now turned on the Undertaker and then Bearer hands the urn to Mankind and wins the match. "Oh, that's how you win" lol. Well that was something, the boiler room part probably not suitable for a live audience, but at least they weren't afraid to try something. ***3/4 Next, Buried Alive.
  4. I'm going to watch every match of this feud which I haven't watched in years so I'm hoping it holds up. I forgot they had that floating blimp in the arena lol, bring that back. This really was an underrated start to the feud and a different change for the undertaker where he is unsure of his opponent so he is going to throw everything at him. I actually forgot who won here so I was shocked at the finish, kept both men strong going into their next match. ***1/2 Next, the Boiler Room Brawl.
  5. How good is the Bret/Bulldog match?
  6. I did not think it would get to the 10th. Good effort by Conor, I thought he was gone in the 9th. Floyd seemed to be in control the whole time, he wasn't worried at all.
  7. I watched this last night for the first time in years and I almost tapped out at 15 minutes. So glad I didn't because the 45 minutes that followed was excellent. I get people saying it's slow and boring, but that's only for the first 15 minutes, that feeling out process to kill time, these guys are wrestling for 1 hour, they are not going to get gassed from the get go. I forgot how stiff and snug the match was. Everything looked like it connected and the crowd thought so to because they were reacting to every hard hit which made the match better for me. Not much else I can add that hasn't been said, if I could change one thing it would be the visual of the clock. I don't want to see it for the majority of the match because I constantly look at it and it can make the match slower. After the match I watched the Greatest Rivalries interview and for them to sit down that day for 5 minutes and plan it out and then go out perform it, it really is a fantastic effort that not many can pull off. Is it a 5 star classic. No. But it's close. Not every hour match has to be five stars, I think fans think if it isn't it's a disaster which I disagree with. It's a very solid match, it is watchable but it's one of those matches I can only watch every couple of years.
  8. It took place at the Dallas Memorial Auditorium, not the Sportatorium, that's why it looks so nice.
  9. The Houston tapes are 10x in more shape than the World Class tapes. I dont see any reason why WWE would sit on them. They are releasing classic content every month now, I say the more the better. If Vince wanted a library to collect dust I would think it would be the AWA not Houston.
  10. WWE need to look at the Houston library again. What the hell is Corgan going to do with it? Tharpe was a fool not selling to WWE. Every video library needs to belong to WWE, they have the money and platform to stream classic wrestling. Houston is the best library they don't own, it holds full cards from 74-87. Anyone who had NWAonDemand would know it's a goldmine of footage.
  11. Coming in August: New Collections Kurt Angle: It’s True, It's True WWE Hidden Gems
  12. This website is really ticking me off. It's some of the best wrestling footage I've seen but the handling of it has been terrible. We don't even know what is going on anymore. I kinda wish WWE made a better offer because they have the money, resources and platform to make the most of this great footage. Tharpe did a good job of getting this site started but I never fully trusted anything he said, I mean how many roku announcements were there? Is it even on roku? Not that I get it but I just wanted to see if he could follow through. I'm sure I wasn't the only one that was disappointed with all these 'big' announcements and nothing. I'm surprised it has lasted this long and they have done well but the last few months have been horrendous. An update or a straight answer would be nice. Even just say the uploads will be on the weekend or something just so we know.
  13. Just watched the Slater/Johnson match. Ugh, this was shit. Slater would've had a better match with a broom. We really need a main event to pop up soon.
  14. Brock has to face Braun at WM. I just don't see the appeal in anyone else except maybe Joe if their match goes well. I would do Lesnar/Reigns at SS and have Braun win the rumble and beat Brock at mania.
  15. ^ I have no idea what the main event is. It's one of those hidden cards which I kinda like. My guess would be a Brody match, he is in a lot of main events around this time.
  16. 4 Horsemen manager extraordinaire and WWE Hall of Famer JJ Dillon is joined by co-host Rich Bocchini as they discuss JJ’s 40+ years in the sport. This is the definitive look at pro wrestling from the smoke filled arenas to the executive boardrooms and beyond. Episode 1 is up - A Horseman Rides Again. http://www.mlwradio.com/jj-dillon-show.html
  17. Sorry to disappoint. but the midget match is from the Nov 2 1979 card. Same card as these 2 matches. - Tor Kamata & Little Tokyo vs Tiger Conway Jr & Coconut Willie - Ernie Holmes vs Killer Brooks If you look on youtube and search 'Houston Wrestling circa 1979' there is a Mark Lewin/The Spoiler vs. Jose Lothario/El Halcon match. That is from the 6/1/79 card.
  18. Where was it announced the sale went through? Shit, I jumped the gun. It seems the trademark issues have now been resolved for the sale to go through. Sorry for that.
  19. With the sale now gone through I hope we can now get a good flow of matches being uploaded instead of the drip feed we've been getting.
  20. As someone who knew nothing about GLOW, just knowing there was a show being made about wrestling I thought I would give it a watch. First I watched the GLOW documentary to familiarize myself with the show then went straight to the episodes. I'm 7 episodes in and enjoying it a lot. These episodes just fly by, like the characters, good story, Brie's Russian accent was annoying me for a while. I chuckled when I saw an apple in Carlito's hand (was that an intentional inside joke?). I think Netflix have another winner here, hope it gets renewed. The only scene I hated was the 'miscarriage' scene. I get what they were doing but didn't find it funny at all. Don't know how other people can laugh at that.
  21. The 79 show works fine for me. The 12/77 date is very similar, sure you didn't click on the wrong one.
  22. The Andre v Spoiler match happened on 6/29/79.
  23. Jericho just did a 2 hour podcast this week with Bruno at his favorite restaurant . Great listen. Seriously this man needs the full dvd treatment. https://player.fm/series/talk-is-jericho/bruno-sammartino
  24. From the recent Bruno Collection on the Network: 3/7/77 - Bruno vs Ken Patera 8/1/77 - Bruno vs Billy Graham (Any match with Graham is pretty good)
