I was unsure of what to expect here as I know so very little of Japanese wrestling but I truly enjoyed the show. The mix and Americans and the explanation of all the roles involved plus your descriptive writing style made this very fun for me. Keep up the great work.

1/25/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 Little Rock, Arkansas “Hello again everybody. Welcome to USWA WRESTLING from Little Rock, Arkansas and The Barton Coliseum. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the Big Cat, Ernie Ladd. What a card we had last week at the HemisFair Arena in San Antonio. Let’s take a look at a video from that big event. VIDEO MATCH: USWA HEAVYEIGHT TITLE MATCH DUSTY RHODES VS TED DIBIASE As the video begins, we see Ted Dibiase going after the injured knee of Dusty Rhodes as he is using a Spinning toe hold to weaken it even more. Somehow Dusty kicks him off and Dibiase actually falls through the middle rope out onto the floor. As Dibiase gathers himself, the crowd is going wild for the American Dream. Dusty meets Dibiase on the apron but is caught with a shoulder block by Dibiase. Dibiase enters the ring and walks to the other side as the camera catches him putting something into that glove of his. WHAM! Dibiase clocks Rhodes and Dusty is out. 1… 2… 3. As the video ends, we see Ted Dibiase and fellow Rat Pack member, Dirty Dick Slater, and the interview desk where Dibiase is as arrogant as ever and he is proclaiming all kinds of “I told you so’s.” and how he is the greatest champ the USWA has ever seen. Jim Ross jumps in and says that it would not even have won the match if it was not for the “loaded” glove. Ted Dibiase: I have no idea what you are talking about but if is a very big little word and too bad we don’t have to deal with ifs. I tell you what I will do for you tonight Jim Ross. I will give Dusty Rhodes his rematch right now on TV if he comes out here right now and kisses my boots! Jim Ross: Two things Mr. Dibiase. First and most important, you know that Dusty is not in the arena tonight and second, I guarantee you that he would never kiss your boats. I don’t even think you would have the guts to stand here if Rhodes was came out now. Ted Dibiase: I don’t know where you get you information from Ross but I know that Rhodes is here tonight and I am sure if you fans cheered loud enough that no good Dirty Rhodes, he would come out here just because you rednecks here in Arkansas asked. I mean he says he would do anything for you snot nosed pig farmers. Go ahead. Give him a cheer and see if your hero has the guts to come out here. The fans do give a cheer and all of a sudden they erupt as Rhodes comes out. Jim Ross takes a second look and declares that’s not Dusty Rhodes. Ted Dibiase: Of course it is Dirty Rhodes. What do you to say for yourself Dirty? Dirty Rhodes (imposter): Well I just got to thank you Mr. Dibiase for even remembering me. I mean you just whooped my big dirty behind last week and now all I have to do is kiss your boots and you well let me lose to you again right now. Dirty Rhodes gives the boots a good kiss as Dibiase and Slater have themselves a great laugh. The group now goes to the ring where Dibiase gives Dirty Rhodes one little shove and he falls down. Dibiase simply steps on his chest as Slater, acting as a ref, makes the three count. Jim Ross: I am sorry ladies and gentleman. Ted Dibiase is just a disgusting human being. I am sure there will be some level of revenge next week when the real American Dream returns to USWA wrestling. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: TV TITLE MATCH BILLY JACK HAYNES VS ROTTEN RON STARR A good little 5 minute match here where Billy Jack deals well with Starr’s dirty tactics and comes away with a victory after the Rotten One submits to a full nelson. When the match ends, with see Skandar Akbar lead Hercules Hernandez out to the interview desk where Akbar says that Billy Jack may be strong but that he is nowhere near as strong as Sheik Hercules Hernandez and that he challenges him to an Arm-Wrestling match right here next week and that when his man wins, he will get a TV title match the following weeks. Billy Jack comes over and after a few heated moments, accepts the challenge. Akbar is almost laughing at how stupid Billy Jack is and nobody would disagree. Haynes is strong but Hercules seems to dwarf him. MATCH TOMMY RICH & EDDIE GILBERT VS THE ASSASSINS A nice victory for Rich and Gilbert here as they seemed to work well together. Quick tags and a lot of energy lead to the win when Gilbert connected with a Hot Shot on Assassin #1. The two joined Ross and Ladd at the interview desk where Rich takes the lead and says that he and Gilbert go way back and that they are just two good ol southern boys from Tennessee and that people from Tennessee stick together. Rich goes on to thank Gilbert for helping him last week when he was attacked by Tojo Yamamoto. Gilbert is a little more arrogant in this interview and really hypes up what the new Tennessee Stud Stable means for the Tag Team division here in the USWA. He warns the Perfect Alliance, the Fabulous Ones and anyone else who might get in their way. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN VS THE GREAT KABUKI with Gary Hart This match turned out to be a showcase for Duggan as he just whopped up on Kabuki. Kabuki had about a one minute run here after he connected with a nasty thrust kick. Kabuki went into his signature spin and appeared ready to spew his green mist at Duggan. Duggan was a little to quick here and caught Kabuki with a football tackle. The mist seemed to go everywhere but Kabuki went right down for the three count. It was obvious that Duggan was making a point here and putting Hacksaw Reed on notice. Even Ernie Ladd had to give it to him and he hyped up the upcoming match this week at the Lake Front Arena in New Orleans between Reed and Duggan. After the match, Duggan was ranting about what he was going to do Reed when all of a sudden Reed rushed out. The two squared off and rolled around on the floor for a minute before the ENTIRE locker room emptied trying to keep this big men apart. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MAIN EVENT KEVIN & KERRY VON ERICH & ICEMAN PARSONS VS THE MONSTERS OF THE MIDWAY (Tojo Yamamoto, Mr. Pogo and Tor Kamata) This match is wild from the beginning. Tor Kamata amazes the fans with his agility. At over 350 pounds, he was able to walk across the top rope and then connect with a diving head-butt on Kevin Von Erich. All of these seemed to delight the devious Tojo Yamamoto who seemed to want to injure his opponents rather than defeat them. This was very similar to last week when he and Pogo went after Wildfire Rich. The end turned really scary when Mr. Pogo backed Iceman into the corner and out of nowhere, threw a Fireball at his eyes. The ref quickly called for the bell as Iceman was rolling around on the ground. The Monsters of the Midway didn’t seem to care and no went wild attacking the VonErich’s 3-2. Both Ross and Ladd were horrified at what they just say and the fans were in shock. Kamata seemed like a rabid dog as he was trying to bite the ears off of Kevin while Tojo and Pogo took turns kicking and chopping at Kerry. Finally, the crowd erupted as the Miracle Violence Committee (Dr. Death, Manny Fernandez and Terry Gordy) hit the ring and their arch enemies hit the road. As Jim Ross is getting ready to sign off, he wishes Iceman well and hopes that the Miracle Violence Committee puts these monsters in their place in two weeks in a Steel Cage in the Will Rodgers Coliseum in Ft. Worth, Texas. In the last minute of the show, we hear from the Miracle Violence Committee and about what they plan to due to this Jap monsters. Jim Ross: So long from Little Rock, Arkansas. Don’t forget to join us this week at the Lake Front Arena in New Orleans and next week we will be coming to you from the Monroe Civic Center in Monroe, Louisiana.

Great addition with Larry Z. He adds a lot to the promotion as he could be placed anywhere on the card. King of the Ring is shaping up nicely here. Hogan is set up with a nice list of top heels to play with for a long time to come. Great making of the roster here.

Thanks for the whole story. I probably know the least about wrestling of anyone here but I find this project fascinating and fun. I watched wrestling when I was a kid and probably have watched less then 10 shows in the last 25 years so any guidance you can give me or insights into the wrestling industry would be greatly welcomed. I sit down and write with no real plans and what every comes to mind is what I post. This has lead the USWA in far too many different directions over the last year and think your idea of Super Protected Wrestlers vs Protected Wrestlers and so on has allowed me to get at least a more structured roster for myself. I used the PWI Ratings from 1985 to try and get my roster set and have some very loose plans for the year but anything else you could add would be helpful. Again, thanks for coming over to the 1983 project!
-
Yes, love the card but I think we all need to be somewhat patient with our rookies.
-
Brilliant! Not to get too personal, but what is your background in. You seem to really know the wrestling game but also how to motivate workers and manage companies. Not to mention a great writer. Loved It!
-
Love this informative style of writing and I am becoming a fan of CMLL
-
Yes, love the fact that anything could happen with Sika over Bockwinkle. Would love to have seen the finish and the tantrum after. Makes me think some funny business was going on.

USWA WRESTLING: 1/17/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 AUSTIN, TEXAS “Hello again everybody. Welcome to USWA WRESTLING from Austin, Texas and The Frank Irwin Center. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the Big Cat, Ernie Ladd. What a card we had last week at the Sam Houston Coliseum. Let’s take a look at a video from that big event. VIDEO MATCH: USWA WORLD 6 MAN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH The MIRACLE VIOLENCE COMMITTEE (Gordy, Williams & Fernandez) VS THE MONSTERS OF THE MIDWAY (Yamamoto, Kamata & Mr. Pogo) The video begins and it is hard to tell what is happening and who is in control as there seems to be action all over the arena. Anything that is not strapped down is being used as a weapon. Kamata seems to be biting a chunk out of Manny’s head while Gordy is half way up the aisle beating Yamamoto. Mr. Pogo and Dr. Death are nowhere to be seen. We later find out that they took the fight to the parking lot but there wasn’t a camera man with them. After a minute or two we see ref Pee Wee Anderson call for the bell as he rules this match “No Contest.” When the match is over, we find out that these two teams will meet again in two weeks in Ft. Worth at the Will Rodgers Arena but that this time it will be in a steel cage to keep the action more controlled. MATCH: BIG COUNTRY ( Plowboy Frazier & Silo Sam) VS THE RED ASSASSINS (Fidel Sierra & Igor Volkolff) Again the fans are entertained by Big Country as they come out to a little fiddle music and square dance around the ring. They are two of the happiest looking big men and Ross reminds us that they come in at a combined weight of just under 1000 pounds. The Red Assassins due their best to change the mood in the arena as they are waving the Cuban and Russian flags and getting in the face of all the fans here in Texas. As for the match, Sierra and Volkolff tried to act big but they palled in comparison to Big Country. Both Plowboy and Silo Sam were very robotic in the ring but they were just so big that a few slams and smushes along the way were enough to take care of their opponents. In the end, Plowboy Frazier “rushed” into the corner and flattened the Cuban Assassin and they tagged in Silo Sam for the biggest leg drop in all of wrestling. Silo Sam simply sat on the Cuban Assassin for the pin. The Russian Assassin never even thought about making the save. The fiddle music and some more square dancing took us to break. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- TOMMY RICH VS MR. POGO with Tojo Yamamoto (GILBERT) Mr. Pogo has already entered the ring with a pretty cool little Nun-Chucks display as Tommy Rich begins to make his way to the ring. Before he gets there Eddie Gilbert comes from behind and seem to confront Rich. After about a minute we see Gilbert shrug his shoulders as Rich heads to the ring. The match is a pretty even match and Mr. Pogo seemed to have Rich where he wanted him. He locked in the Japanese Cobra (Cobra Clutch) and it seemed like Rich was going out. He somehow backed Pogo into the corner to break the hold. Yamamoto had seen enough and was about to enter the ring. WHAM! Eddie Gilbert rushed out and clobbered Yamamoto. Mr. Pogo was distracted for a second and this allowed Rich to come off the ropes for the Lou Thesz Press for the pin. Gilbert enters the ring again the talk to Rich. Gilbert puts out his hand but Rich is reluctant to shake it. Jim Ross can’t blame him as Gilbert doesn’t have the most reputable reputation. Ernie Ladd says Rich is classless as Gilbert just saved his rump and he better shake that hand. Rich finally does accept the handshake and the crowd has a mixed reaction. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: USWA WORLD TITLE MATCH DUSTY RHODES VS DICK SLATER Dirty Dick Slater is at it again and attacks before the bell. It is obvious that he is out to injure Rhodes in order to help Dibiase win the belt this week in New Orleans. After the surprise attack, Slater takes the action to the arena floor and goes to work on the knee in hopes of weakening the knee for Dibiase’s Figure Four. At one point, Slater has Rhodes’ leg wrapped around the ring post and is pulling it at a real bad angle. Ross is screaming that he is trying to break it. All of a sudden the crowd moans as Dibiase makes his way out and quickly goes for a chair. He smashes it over the leg and Dusty cries out. Finally the Calvary comes out and Hacksaw Duggan and Wildfire Rich chase the Rat Pack away. The concerned crowd watches on as the medics come out to check on Dusty. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- Prior to the main event Tommy Rich and Hacksaw Duggan come to the interview desk and explain that Dusty is in a bad way and is being sent to the hospital. They both take turns getting all over the Rat Pack and are full of threats but the crowd is more worried that Rhodes will not be able to defend his title. MATCH: KERRY VON ERICH, KEVIN VON ERICH & HACKSAW DUGGAN VS THE SHEIKS (Iron Sheik, Sheik Hercules Hernandez and Sheik Butch Reed with Skandar Akbar A great main event here! As one would expect, it was more of a brawl then a wrestling match and in the end, Kerry connected with a Tornado Punch on the Iron Sheik and then tagged in his brother who climbed to the top rope and connected with a VonErich Death Leap but before he could make the pin, the camera catches some eye contact between Akbar and ref Bronco Lubich. Lubich is somewhat slow to make the tag and Hacksaw Reed is able to make the save. Kevin tags in Duggan who comes stomping in but is quickly cut down by a double team as the ref simply turns his back. As this was going on, the VonErichs rushed in but this Lubich saw and forced them out. Here we get a monster of a move as Hercules hoisted Duggan up in the backbreaker rack and Reed came off the top rope with an elbow to the head, Duggan flipped and crashed to the mat and Reed covered him for what seemed like a quick count. The Sheiks prevail in this thriller as Ross wonders where the refs head was in this match. Kerry and Reed are squared off in the center of the ring and they are exchanging some huge blows. Kevin is after Akbar and all of a sudden the crowd explodes. It is Hacksaw Duggan and his trusty 2x4. He is swinging it like a Louisville Slugger as the Sheiks all head for the road. The VonErichs and Duggan do a little playing to the crowd and everybody leaves happy. Jim Ross: Sorry folks we are out of time. So long from Austin, Texas. Don’t forget to join us this Tuesday in San Antonio, Texas and the HemisFair Arena and next week we will be coming from the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson. As the screen fades to black we see promotions for the show in the HemisFair Arena. MATCHES INCLUDE USWA WORLD TITLE MATCH Dusty Rhodes vs Ted Dibiase USWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH The Perfect Alliance vs The Fab Ones

1/15/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 ALexandria, Louisiana “Hello again everybody. Welcome to USWA WRESTLING from Alexandria, Louisiana and The Rapides Parrish Coliseum. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the Big Cat, Ernie Ladd. What a card we had last week at the Sam Houston Coliseum. Let’s take a look at a video from that big event. VIDEO MATCH: USWA NORTH AMERICAN TITLE MATCH SHEIK HACKSAW BUTCH REED with SKANDAR AKBAR VS HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN The video begins with Duggan and Reed brawling in the middle of the ring and Reed whips Duggan off the ropes and both he and Duggan collide with the ref. The ref goes down as Reed recovers first and grabs Duggan by the head and tosses him over the top rope. Duggan fights his way back into the ring and the two square off in the center of the ring for the second time. By now, ref Pee Wee Anderson is up and Duggan is getting the best of Reed. Duggan goes for a giant football tackle but Reed pulls Anderson in front and the ref takes the blow. Reed scrambles outside the ring and gets a chair. He swings and misses. Somehow Duggan gets the chair. WHAM! Duggan clocks Reed with the chair. WHAM! Duggan clocks him again! WHAM! A third chair smash. Duggan know has Reed where he wants him as the ref is staggering back to his feet. Duggan catches Reed with a football tackle and Pee Wee Anderson makes the three count! We have a new USWA North American Champion. Anderson is still struggling a bit as the three blows have taken their effect on him. Senior official Bronco Lubich comes out as Duggan is celebrating in the ring. Duggan’s recent tag partner, Wildfire Tommy Rich comes out to join in the celebration. Duggan has the belt and is playing to the crowd. We see Lubich and Anderson talking and all of a sudden. Lubich raises the hand of Duggan and the crowd explodes but only for a second as Lubich takes the title back from Duggan and hands it to Reed. When the video ends we see Duggan with Jim Ross. Ross explains that Hacksaw Reed was disqualified by Bronco Lubich for throwing Duggan over the top rope in the beginning of that clip and therefore Reed retains his title. Duggan goes on a bit of a rant here that Reed knows he can’t beat him and has to cheat to win. He is also angry as to why Bronco Lubich stepped in here but guarantees that Reed has not seen the last of him. MATCH: JIMMY SNUKA with Gary Hart vs SWEET BROWN SUGAR Jim Ross and Ernie Ladd hype up Snuka here and there is good reason to. He is a supremely athletic monster who has just pounded away on everyone in the USWA so far. This is another complete squash match as Snuka deals with the talented Sweet Brown Sugar in quick fashion. Snuka again amazes the crowd with his Top Rope Death Leap for the victory. In a quick interview after the match, Gary Hart explains that he cannot guarantee the safety for the old wash women Sgt. Slaughter he couldn’t help but stick his nose in Superfly’s business last week. Jim Ross reminds Hart that it was Snuka who attacked Slaughter. This sets Snuka off again and it seems like he is about to attack Ross but Hart pulls Snuka away to the locker room. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: TV TITLE MATCH BILLY JACK HAYNES VS ASSASSIN #1 The fans enjoy this 5 minute bout as the Assassin at almost 280 pounds proves to be a nice test for Billy Jack’s power. Billy Jack controlled most of the match and finished off the Assassin by submission with his signature full nelson. Billy Jack does a quick interview where he says that he is really proud to be representing the USWA as the TV champ and will accept all challenges. MATCH TED DIBIASE VS MIKE VON ERICH A great bout for TV as Dibiase tries to secure his #1 contender status against the young VonErich. The crows is really hopeful as VonErich is really taking the fight to Dibiase. Dibiase tries his stall game here but nothing seems to be working. Dibiase resorts to throwing Mike through the middle ropes and ref Bronco Lubich gets right in his face. Jim Ross sees it coming and warns us the Dan Spivey is heading to the ring. Spivey grabs VonErich by the head and clocks him with the brass knuckles that he has been carrying around now for a few weeks. Spivey rolls VonErich into the ring and disappears as fast as he appeared. Dibiase stops arguing with Lubich and adjusts his own black loaded glove and clocks VonErich again. Dibiase adds a suplex into the mix and that is all she wrote. Dibiase goes over to the interview desk and is as cocky as ever. He tells the fans that if he beat Mike VonErich so easily it is going to be a walk in the park this week when he takes the World Title from Dusty Rhodes. Jim Ross questions how easy the VonErich match was and proclaims he would have lost if not for Dan Spivey. Dibiase plays dumb but does give Spivey a lot of props for his recent success. He goes as far as to say that young Dan Spivey is looking more and more like Rat Pack material. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: SGT. SLAUGHTER VS THE GREAT KABUKI with Gary Hart This turns out to be Sarges first official bout in the USWA and he makes the most of it. While Kabuki gave him all he could handle, Sarge took control after a Big Bearhug that took its toll on Kabuki. In order to break the hold, Gary Hart got up on the apron but all this led to was a massive Lariat by Sarge to the head of Hart. Slaughter then locked in the Cobra Clutch on Kabuki and it was all over. During his post-match interview, all Slaughter wanted to talk about was getting revenge on the Magot Jimmy Snuka who attacked him last week. Slaughter was all fired up and the spit was flying from his mouth. All of a sudden, a wild scream was heard and out of nowhere Snuka came flying in a landed atop the head of Slaughter. Slaughter went down and banged his head of the interview desk and was busted wide open. Soon the TV screen was censored with a giant X as Snuka went to town. He used anything that was not nailed down to destroy Sarge. Jim Ross rushed us to break in hopes of getting order restored. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- As we come out of break, both Ross and Ladd are in shock at what Snuka has done here in the USWA in just 3 weeks. They both agree that Slaughter is one of the best in the world but he has not even gotten his hands up to defend himself before Snuka takes him out. They both then spend a little time hyping up our main event. It is no surprise that they are on different sides here. Ladd likes the Perfect Alliance while Ross says Kevin Von Erich and Iceman Parsons have been on a roll of late. MATCH: USWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE THE PERFECT ALLIANCE VS KEVIN VONERICH & ICEMAN PARSONS The fans are bouncing in their seats as “We Are Family” leads the challengers to the ring. Baby Doll holds nothing back as she sits on the middle rope to help her team enter the ring. The fans hate the Perfect Alliance but love to keep their eyes glued to the Perfect 10. The Perfect Alliance go right into the stall as they know this match is going to be short as TV time is about to expire. Arn Anderson rolls in and out of the ring and the fans begin to get restless. Finally, Kevin catches him and goes to work but before he can get anywhere Bobby rushes into to prevent any real damage. Iceman joins the fray and for a minute or two we have all 4 men in the ring. Iceman takes care of Eaton with a jumping clothesline and follows it up by coming off the ropes for a Butt Bump. Eaton is knocked through the middle ropes where he is quickly consoled by Baby Doll. Kevin seems to be taking care of Anderson and the crowd pops as he clamps in the stomach claw. This is painful but will not bring them the belts. He tags in Iceman who goes for the finish with the Butt Bump but Baby Doll pulls down the middle rope and now Iceman crashes to the floor. Eaton has recovered enough and is waiting with a steel chair. CRACK! Eaton nails Iceman with the chair and the ref quickly disqualifies the Perfect Alliance. This doesn’t bother them in the least as they retain their belts. Jim Ross is once again disgusted by the actions of the heels as Baby Doll raises the hands of her team even though they lost. Jim Ross: So long from Alexandria, Louisiana. Don’t forget to join us this week at the HemisFair Arena in San Antonio and next week we will be coming to you from Little Rock, Arkansas and the Barton Coliseum.

NWA Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling - December 1984
kevinmcfl replied to agentofenton's topic in Promotions
Love the Magnum T A push here of late and wondering if he becomes the next major thing for Ric Flair to deal with. If is a tough call for you with Lutte in the mix now. You really have 4 top guys in Flair, TA, Martel and Bockwinkle. 1985 is a tough thing to predict in the NWA. I would be somewhat careful with guys like Luke Graham and Mr. Wrestling II as they are nearing the end. Wrestling II could probably pull off anything in the NWA where he was one of the top dogs for so long. -
Your TV show was perfectly set up. First, the segment in the beginning and Sherri Martel saying that by the end of the night, Bockwinkle would be in her stable kept the viewer glued to the entire show and then the triangular stare down at the end brings the viewer back next week to see what is going on. Very well planned!

Some very interesting things from Detroit. Why does Snake leave the ring and Mulligan subs for Houston and beats Bass. What does this mean for Mulligan and Bass. I can't wait to see. Always something to look forward to in the WWF.... Here comes the King of the Ring.
-
Fun show. Would have loved to see the Midnight Express vs The Fantastics and TA vs Stevens. I have never watched a match that was over an hour long and could only imagine the momentum swings of the fans watching it. All of our promotions , including myself, that have used Carlos Colon never had him near the top and I have always wondered what his true place in history was. I have read about some huge matches with Flair but we always have him as a mid-carder. This is by far nothing negative as I did they exact same thing. I just wonder what his true standing is in wrestling. Does anybody now where he was on the Greatest Wrestler List?

I left out most title changes as we have a titles thread.

1/12/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 Texarkana, Arkansas “Hello again everybody. Welcome to USWA WRESTLING from Texarkana, Arkansas and The Four States Arena. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the Big Cat, Ernie Ladd. What a card we had last week at Reunion Arena in Dallas. Let’s take a look at a video from that big event. VIDEO MATCH: USWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH The PERFECT ALLIANCE (Bobby Eaton & Arn Anderson with Baby Doll) VS THE FABULOUS ONES The video shows a wild finish where the Fabulous Ones connect with a double back drop on Anderson and think they are about to regain the World Titles as Lane covers Anderson for the pin. The Fab Ones had not noticed the Anderson had tagged in Eaton and Beautiful Bobby had climbed to the top rope and came off for an Alabama Jam on Lane. Keirn had actually already turned away and thought the count was for his team’s victory instead of Eaton on top of Lane. The Perfect Alliance pulled out another victory over the Fab Ones who just can’t seem to beat them. After the video ended we see a very cocky Perfect Alliance where Baby Doll wonders just how many more times her men are going to have to embarrass the Fab Ones. Jim Ross “thanks” the Perfect Alliance for their time and gets us to the ring for tonight’s first match. MATCH: THE MEMPHIS BRUSIE BROTHERS (Dream Machine and Pork Chop Cash) VS THE FT. BRAGG BROTHERHOOD (Pvt. Kernodle & Cpl. Kirchner) Before the match, Jim Ross and Ernie Ladd gives us some background on the Bruise Brothers and let us know that they were a huge tag team up in the Memphis area and that they twice held the AWA Southern Tag Team Titles. The Bruise Brothers come out dressed as Belushi and Akroyd from the Blues Brothers with the same music blaring from the speakers. The crowd is getting into in but once the match starts they are unsure what to make of Cash and the masked Dream Machine. They are just brutal with elbows, kicks and forearms. In the end, Dream Machine caught Kirchner with a powerslam and gained the pinfall. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN VS ROTTEN RON STARR Prior to the match, Ross informs us that Hacksaw Duggan won the huge Battle Royal last week in Reunion Arena and is now the new #1 contender for the North American title. The fans really throw their support behind Duggan as he makes his way to the ring waving the 2X4. He stops for a second to salute the flag and this serves to only endear him more to the fans here in the patriotic South where the Red, White and Blue means everything. The match is a quick 4 minute dismantling of Starr as Duggan just uses brute force to keep the momentum. In the end we see a nasty football tackle for the victory. Duggan heads over to the interview desk where he is all hyped about getting a shot at Reed and the North American Title but before he gets too far, Skandar Akbar and Hacksaw Reed appear. Hacksaw actually has an Arabian Headdress on much the same way Hercules Hernandez did last week. Jim Ross: Gentlemen. This is not your time and you have no business being out here. Skandar Akbar: Shut Up Ross and from now on, address my men with the proper term of Sheik. This is Sheik Hacksaw Butch Reed. Sheik is a title of respect where I come from. It is a title for leaders. Men who are in control and right now Sheik Reed is in control of the USWA North American Title and he should not have to waste his time with this dirty low life to your right. Hacksaw Duggan: Listen up towel head! We are in America and when you want respect, you earn it. You don’t just run out to the laundry mat and steal some old ladies bedsheet and wrap it around your head and call yourself a Shiek! Skandar Akbar: You mean a Sheik Hacksaw Duggan: Listen up Reed. I am getting sick and tired of this mouth piece of yours. I did once respect you. You claimed to be the man here in the USWA and now you are nothing more than a puppet for this Genie in a Bottle. Take that stupid thing off your head now and we can settle this like men. If not, I will remind you of another American tradition. Sheik Hacksaw Butch Reed: Don’t tell me what to do Duggan. I am the champ. I am the man. Hacksaw Duggan: I am the man with the Big Stick! Duggan goes wild swinging his 2x4 as Akbar and Reed scramble to the locker room with Duggan. Jim Ross: Well I can’t wait to see what happens when these two do get in the ring this Tuesday night in the Sam Houston Coliseum. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: TERRY GORDY VS TOR KAMATA with Tojo Yamamoto Terry Gordy really took offense to the comments by Yamamoto and his men about the United States on last week’s show and demanded this match here tonight. The match is all Bam Bam as you can tell he is furious. He is all over Kamata for the first few minutes but as he came off the ropes, Yamamoto tripped him up. This gave the maniacal Kamata time to recover and then he went to work. Chops, nerve holds and thrust kicks had Gordy in serious trouble. Somehow, Gordy started to shake and convulse and you could just see the adrenaline rising. It is here that Gordy becomes immune to pain and just takes chop after chop from Kamata without giving an inch. One Irish Whip later and the 350 pound Kamata is on the wrong end of a powerslam. Before the ref can make the 3 count, Yamamoto is in the ring and his side kick, Mr. Pogo is not far behind. The Japanese attackers give it to Gordy pretty good but only for a minute or two before Bam Bam’s tag partners hit the ring. Dr. Death Steve Williams and Manny Fernandez are like a house afire and are going wild Soon the Violence Committee has regained control of the ring with the Japanese monsters headed to the locker room. Jim Ross hustles up to the ring for a quick interview with the 6 Man Tag Team Champions. Terry Gordy is a little worse for wear but they are all fired up and demand to meet these Monsters of the Midway this Tuesday night in Houston, Texas where they can give them a good old fashion Cowboy Beating! Jim Ross is sure that both Cowboy Bill Watts and Yamamoto’s men will jump at the chance of having a USWA 6 Man Title Match on the card. MATCH: HOTSTUFF EDDIE GILBERT VS MOONDOG CUJO Gilbert has been on a role since his return to the area and tonight is no different. A nice 3 minute match where Gilbert controls the big man and ends it with a Hotshot. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- Ernie Ladd and Jim Ross are still trying to get over the last segment and the Japanese Invasion as we get set for our main event. MATCH: KERRY VON ERICH & KEVIN VON ERICH VS THE SHEIKS (IRON SHEIK & SHEIK HERCULES HERNANDEZ) with Skandar Akbar A great main event here as the pride of Texas, the VonErichs are here to take on two of Akbar’s men. As one would expect, it was more of a brawl then a wrestling match and in the end, Kerry connected with a Tornado Punch on the Iron Sheik and then tagged in his brother who climbed to the top rope and connected with a VonErich Death Leap but before he could make the pin, we see Akbar signaling to the back and out rushed Hacksaw Reed. Reed enters and the ref calls for the bell. So long from Texarkana, Arkansas. Don’t forget to join us this Tuesday in Houston, Texas. As the screen fades to black we see promotions for the big show in the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston, Texas. MATCHES INCLUDE NORTH AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE Sheik Hacksaw Reed vs Hacksaw Duggan USWA WORLD 6 MAN TITLE MATCH The Violence Committee vs The Monsters of the Midway (Yamamoto, Pogo, Kamata) Kevin & Kerry Von Erich vs The Sheiks with Skandar Akbar

Very, very cool and gives me much more of an understanding of Lucha Libre wrestling.
-
Love how you plan your stuff out and explain your thoughts to us. It helps each and every one of us.
-
I love when you guys are nitpicky. It helps me out a lot. I agree with you completely about Hart being the talker. I missed it on that one.

1/8/1985: WTBS 9:05-10:05 Baton Rouge, Louisiana “Hello again everybody. Welcome to USWA WRESTLING from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and The Riverside Centroplex. I am Jim Ross and my partner today is the Big Cat, Ernie Ladd. What a card we had last week at Reunion Arena in Dallas. Let’s take a look at a video from that big event. VIDEO MATCH: USWA WORLD TITLE MATCH DUSTY RHODES VS TED DIBIASE We pick up the end of the match here as we see ref Pee Wee Anderson get knocked down by Dusty Rhodes who was whipped into the ref by Dibiase. Dusty also goes down for a minute and this gives Dibiase a chance to grab a chair. As Dibiase comes after Rhodes, he violently swings the chair but Rhodes gets out of the way in the nick of time. With Dibiase off balance, Rhodes was able to catch him with a Bionic Elbow on the top of the head. Dibiase goes down hard and Rhodes grabs the chair. He starts waving it in the air as the fans are imploring him to crack Dibiase. This is right when Pee Wee Anderson recovers enough to stagger to his feet. He sees Dibiase down and Dusty waving the chair. He puts two and two together and wrongfully calls for the bell. He has disqualified the Dream for using a chair! As the video ends, an irate Dibiase has joined Ross and Ladd at the interview desk. Ted Dibiase: I can’t believe how much of a coward that fat slob Dusty Rhodes is. He calls himself the American Dream yet he gets himself disqualified to save his title. He calls himself a role model. Well what kind of role model is he. He should do what is right and just hand over the belt to the true champion. ME! TED DIBIASE! Ernie Ladd: That sounds very reasonable. Jim Ross: That is utterly ridiculous. Mr. Dibiase, you were the one who shoved Dusty into the ref. You are the one who brought the chair into the ring. You are the one who tried in injure the American Dream. You are also the one who was laid out on the canvass by a LEGAL ELBOW! The only good news is that this interview is over as we have our first match set to go. Ted Dibiase: Not quite over. You forget to tell these morons in TV land that in two weeks at the HemisFair Arena in San Antonio, I will be facing the American Nightmare, Dusty Rhodes and this time the title will be mine. _____________________________________________________________________________ MATCH: KEVIN VONERICH & ICEMAN PARSONS VS THE WILD HOGS (KING HARLEY HOGG & JR HOGG) A nice opening showcase that gets the fans up and out of their seats. They love the Iceman and his “We Are Family” and now that he is together with Kevin VonErich, the fans are ecstatic. As far as the match goes, the fan favorites take care of business against these two large biker dudes. Iceman whipped JR Hogg into the ropes and connected with a Butt Bump and then quickly tagged in Kevin who scampered up the ropes and came off with a Top Rope Von Erich Death Leap for the victory. Both Jim Ross and Ernie Ladd compared Kevin’s top rope leap with the amazing leap they saw last week from that freak of nature, Jimmy Snuka. Even a reluctant Jim Ross was forced to admit that Snuka most likely won that debate. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- MATCH: TV TITLE MATCH BILLY JACK HAYNES VS DAN SPIVEY As we get ready for this great match, Ernie Ladd explains that Spivey was granted this title shot after his great victory over Mike VonErich in Reunion Arena last week. Jim Ross has a different take on things and says the victory was more tainted than anything else. He goes on to explain that when a pair of brass knuckles was the cause of the victory, he would call it shameful instead of great. Ernie Ladd simple says, “A win is a win.” As the match is getting set to begin, Mike VonErich comes out to the interview desk. Ladd quickly says that he has no right to be out here and if he wanted to be involved in this match, he should have won the other night. Mike simple responds that he is out here to make sure no funny business costs his buddy, Billy Jack Haynes his TV Title. The match is truly a battle of some big men. Spivey is 6’8 and over 300 pounds while Billy Jack is just ripped from head to toe. These big boys pull off some huge power moves and take turns with the momentum. Billy Jack has Spivey in trouble after a body slam and he lets the crowd know he is going for his Full Nelson. Spivey notices this and slips out of the ring. Billy Jack heads out after him but ref Bronco Lubich stops him. While Billy Jack and the ref are arguing, the camera catches Spivey reach into his trunks for the brass knucks. He jumps up onto the apron and as Billy Jack comes to meet him… WHAM! Mike VonErich pulls Spivey off the apron and on the way down, Spivey’s head connects with the matt and then the cement floor. Bronco Lubich quickly calls for the bell and declares Spivey the winner by DQ. Billy Jack is confused at why his friend would do this but Mike is complaining to the ref and asks him to come out onto the floor. Lubich obliges VonErich and when he goes to exam Spivey, he sees the Brass Knuckles on his hand and reverses the decision. Billy Jack thanks Mike for his help as Ross is grateful for the presence of VonErich. Ernie Ladd is once again disgusted by the interference of a VonErich and that is doesn’t matter who his father is, something must be done about their lack of respect for the rules of wrestling. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- As we come out of break, Gary Hart and Jimmy Snuka are at the interview desk. Jim Ross: I must ask you Mr. Snuka what has caused this sudden change in you. I mean we have all seen the love and support you received from the fans in the WWF. Now, you have partnered with one of the most diabolic men in all of wrestling. Gary Hart: Watch your mouth Ross. I am a wrestling genius and this man knows I will take him to the top! Jimmy Snuka: That is the exact reason I have given my services to Mr. Hart. In the WWF, the fans adored me and what did it get me! Nothing. I gave my blood and sweat to the organization and they treated me like some sort of animal. Every time they thought they had something better come along, they pushed me to the back burner. Nick Bockwinkle comes in… forget Snuka. Gino Hernandez comes in… forget Jimmy Snuka. I learned two things from my time up north. Nice guys finish last and you don’t hope to be respected, you demand to be respected! I can guarantee you that in my time in the USWA, I will not be nice! I will be the monster that Roddy Piper claimed me to be and I will be respected. MATCH: SGT. SLAUGHTER VS THE CUBAN ASSASSIN (Fidel Sierra) The crowd explodes as Sgt. Slaughter makes his way to the ring. They can’t wait for Slaughter to take care of the Cuban Assassin. Jimmy Snuka: This exactly what I mean, No Respect. Slaughter has interrupted my time on National TV and the USWA allowed it. Snuka sprints towards the ring and leaps at Slaughter. Slaughter not expecting the attack, takes the full brunt of the blow. Snuka is going absolutely nuts. He is chopping away at Slaughter and headbutting him into a bloody mess. The Cuban Assassin doesn’t know what to do so he simply walks away. Slaughter is face down on the matt and is convulsing every few seconds. Snuka jumps into the ring and climbs to the top rope and leaps off. WHAM! Snuka flies all the way to the floor and crashes right onto the back of Slaughter. Officials and wrestlers pour out from the back and surround Slaughter to stop another attack from Snuka. Snuka simple raises his arms in the air to signify some sort of greatness. Fans start to toss some drinks and food and him but this only seems to increase his rage. He starts growling and his face is contorting. His eyes are basically popping out of his head. Finally Gary Hart comes to him and puts an arm around him and it seems to calm him down enough to be lead to the back. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- Jim Ross introduces us to first timer Ted Arcidi. Ross informs us that Arcidi is known as the World’s Strongest Man and is closing in on a 700 pound bench press. Ernie Ladd doesn’t believe it for a second and says that no human will ever bench press 700 pounds. As Arcidi walks out to the ring, Ernie Ladd takes one look at him and changes his tune “If any man does bench 700 pounds, it will be this man. He is HUGE! MATCH: TED ARCIDI VS RON STARR Ted Arcidi is one big powerful man who is built like a fire hydrant. Arcidi is very awkward during the match but the veteran Ron Starr guides him along for about 4 minutes. In the end, Arcidi whipped Starr across the ring and caught him in a powerful Bear Hug. Ron Starr does some good selling here and the rookie gets his first victory in Pro Wrestling. ------------------COMMERCIAL BREAK/PROMOS----------------- TOMMY RICH VS DICK SLATER Wildfire has been feuding with the Rat Pack for a while now and everybody knows that he and Dibiase have some real bad history between them. Before this match begins, the camera catches Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert watching from the shadows. As for the match, it is a brawl from beginning to end but both Rich and Slater keep an eye on Gilbert. Slater and his hands of stone are doing some damage but Wildfire is not to be out done. With only about a minute left in the show, the action spills out onto the floor right in front of Gilbert who still does not get involved. Rich is able to slam Slater on the concrete floor and get back in the ring before the 10 count. The bell sounds as Jim Ross is getting ready to sign off as the ref raises the hand of Wildfire who claims victory by count-out. The last image of the show is Gilbert and Wildfire starring at each other. Gilbert gives a little sly grin as the screen fades to black. Jim Ross: So long from Lafayette, Louisiana. Don’t forget to join us this week at the Sam Houston Coliseum and next week we will be coming to you from Alexandria, Louisiana and the Rapides Parish Coliseum.

USWA releases Loch Ness and adds Dirty Rhodes
-
It will be interesting to see if Paul Orndoff turns into Mr. Wonderful now that he is the champ. Either way he is a great choice and he plays both the heel and babyface so well. Whoever becomes your challenger they will have their hands full.
-
Sorry about my miss on the US Tag Match but I will not miss on this one..... Lutte is full of Wildmen and I love it. From Dory Funk to the Missing Link to the Great Kokina and so on and so on, Lutte is getting pretty wild.
-
Nice use joining your stars into tag matches to hype up your angles. Also loved Pipers Pit with only Piper! He is the one star who could pull that off.

I agree with Edger. Valentine vs Hogan is a great event and love quickly you moved him in.
