Dave Brown: "In the ring now, from Portland, Oregon, Scott Ferris.! And making his way to the ring, accompanied by Sonny King, The Big Cat, Ernie Ladd! Your referee is Jerry Calhoun. Match #1: Ernie Ladd defeats Scott Ferris with a big boot in a really one sided match where Ladd showed no mercy. > Ernie Ladd and Sonny King walk to the desk but Sweet Daddy O is already set to be interviewed by Lance Russell.> Russell: Now wait a minute Ernie Ladd and Sonny King. This is not your time. Sweet Daddy O has been given this segment. Ladd: Shut up Russell! There is nothing you or Sweet Big Baby here can do to stop me or the other members of my Army! Daddy O: What Army, it’s just you and Sonny King Ladd: You better watch your back Uncle Tom O. Daddy O: Don’t threaten me! I will take both of you on right here and now? Ladd: You are not worth my time or effort Baby O but remember what I said! Watch your back! From out of nowhere comes the return of Big Red Reese! And that goes for the rest of you wrestlers here! Idol! Lawler! Rock N Roll Express! Watch your backs! Ernie Ladd is not the Big Cat but he is now Ernie “The King” Ladd! Let’s go brothers. He is almost 25 minutes in and he has yet to reach one complete sit-up. Russell: Well King and Austin, I thought I might see you tonight but I believed it would be after your Main Event match. I thought you two would be preparing for another go round with The House OF Humperdink! Lawler: I will get to The House of Humpty Dumpty in a minute. But I need all of you people in the studio to take a look at this clown. “The Fortunate Son looks more like The Dying Whale. I mean come on! Show him Austin what a physique should look like. Lawler: I think Poffo is more like a marsh mellow! Russell: King, I understand what you are talking about but let’s focus on what happened the other night! It was you and Plowboy Frazier against The Japanese Assassins and Frazier turned on you making it a 4-1 when you throw in Humperdink! Lawler: Wait a minute Lance, nobody could throw that fat slob, Humperdink. As for Doughboy Frazier and the rest of The House of Humpty. Watch your backs! Nobody gets away with the garbage Doughboy pulled on me the other night. Frazier, I am coming after you real soon! In Evansville, Louisville and of course, right here in Memphis at The Mid-South Coliseum. Frazier, you know what they say about payback! Russell: Well stay focused and don’t relax of Humperdink. He seems to want you gone in a bad way! Idol: Lance, Don’t worry about my main man, Jerry Lawler. Many of the guys in the locker room including myself are watching each other’s backs. Nobody can get to Jerry without going through me! Humperdink, and The Japanese Assassins, in just a little while we are going to drop some bombs on you that will make Hiroshima look like a sling shot! Lance Russell: Well let’s hope so. Good luck tonight fella’s and before we go to break, we have added something new to help keep our fans up to date. Lance Russell: Before we return to the ring, I have a quick update on the tag team title situation. The Rock N Roll Express and The Bruise Brothers have been embedded in a violent feud over the last few months. A feud that has seen the title switch hands numerous times in all kinds of dangerous matches. The CWA has sanctioned a “Memphis World Series Match” between these two teams. It is a best of 7 match, where the first team to win 4 matches will be the Southern Tag Team Champions. The losers cannot have a title shot here in the CWA for ONE CALENDAR YEAR! Dave Brown: Wow, those are some stakes. Let’s get back to the ring. Lance Russell: You could say that again! OK Dave, Take it away. Dave Brown: "We're ready for our next match. It's gonna be one fall and in the ring to my right is the team of The Dirty White Boy, Tony Anthony and his partner King Cobra. The crows gives a loud cheer. Dave Brown: And making their way to the ring, the team of The International Heavyweight Champion, Buddly Landell and his partner, The Mid-American Heavyweight Champion, Jesse Barr. Your referee is Jerry Calhoun The crowd is booing the entire time it takes them to make their way to the ring. Match #2: Landell and Barr defeat King Cobra and Tony Anthony by DQ. As Tony Anthony rushed into the ring to stop the illegal double teaming by Landell and Barr, The ref pushed Anthony back and as his back was turned, Barr hit King Cobra with a pair of brass knuckles which he threw into the corner. As Barr went to cover King Cobra, Anthony picked up the brass knuckles and hit Barr in the jaw. The ref saw this and DQ-ed Anthony and Cobra. Lance Russell: Well again you guys find some way to cheat and come out on top Buddy Landell: Cheat? What are you talking about Lance? You saw That Dirty White Boy pick up those knuckles and hit Jesse right in the jaw. Lance Russell: I guess you forgot who brought those brass knuckles to the ring? Buddy Landell: I am always so confused when I come here and try to see your perspective. Well anyway. Another week goes by and Jesse and I still hold on to our Championships. Lance Russell: Well that is actually why you two were asked to the desk after your match. I have an announcement for you and for all the wrestling fans here in CWA. Buddy Landell: What, has Jarrett come up with another so called challenger for either myself or Jesse? I mean who haven’t we beat? From Ken Raper, Abe Jacobs, Jose Poffo. I have beaten everyone this organization has put in front of me. Lance Russell: I think you have been hand picking your opponents. Buddly Landell: Some say PotAto, some say Potato. Didn’t I recently beat the two wrestlers who we beat here tonight? Lance Russell: Well yes, you did beat King Cobra and Tony Anthony and Jesse Barr has defeated Austin Idol but it always seems to be with some illegal shenanigans going on. Buddy Landell: Ok, Ok, we are never going to see to eye on this. What is your announcement? Lance Russell: Well you were right! There is a new contender for both your championships. Do you want to guess who? Buddy Landell: Spare me the pain and just tell me! Lance Russell: ok! Here it goes. This message is straight from Jerry Jarrett. “The CWA has long been a dues paying member of the NWA but we also have strong ties to the AWA. At this current time, we have 3 major championship belts. The AWA Southern Title, the Awa International Title and the NWA Mid-American Title. That seems unfair to the NWA that two of the titles contested here in the CWA are from the AWA, an organization we do not pay dues to. We are going to drop the AWA International Title from our promotion so that we do not play favorite to either the NWA or the AWA. Also, since the popularity of the CWA and this television show are growing so quickly, The AWA International Title is being replaced with a CWA Television Title.” seems to be becoming more coherent. Jesse Barr: Come on Russell, spill the whole story. Does that mean Landell is the new Television Champion? His title is just being renamed? Lance Russell: Well, no that is not true. As of right now, Buddy Landell is no longer a Champion. Jesse Barr: Well that is so unfair. It is Jarrett knowing the only way to take a title away from either one of us is to do something so underhanded. Lance Russell: Well wait a minute Jesse. Just let me finish. “While the International Championship will no longer be contested here in CWA, Buddy is receiving a title shot!” Buddy Landell: Lance! Spill this whole story now. I am getting sick and tired of your games! Lance Russell: Well right here, next week, Jesse, you will be defending your NWA Mid-American Title against Buddy Landell? Lance Russell: So I guess you two will have one week to figure out how to cheat each other out of a Championship! Ha-ha. And also next week, an 8 man single elimination tournament will begin to crown the New CWA Television Champion! We got to take a break. >> Lance Russell runs down the upcoming schedule for the CWA! October 4: Blytheville, Arkansas at the American Legion Areana October 5: Memphis, TN at the Mid-South Coliseum October 6: Evansville, IN at the Soldiers & Sailors Coliseum October 7: Louisville KY at the Louisville Gardens October 8: Nashville TN: at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds October 9: Tupelo, MS at the Sports Areana Come on out and see such stars as Jerry “The King Lawler, Austin Idol, Ernie Ladd, Buddy Landell, The Bruise Brothers and The Rock N Roll Express. Lance Russell: Before we get to the Main Event, another update of Jose “The Fortunate Son, Poffo’s attempt at 6034 sit-ups. It has come to end. He has been rushed to the hospital for apparent dehydration after completing one sit up. What a joke Jose Poffo has turned out to be. Well let’s get to the ring for our Main Event and what a Match it is going to be! Dave? Dave Brown: This match will be TV Time Remaining. In the ring to my right, accompanied by Sir Oliver Humperdink, The Japanese Assassins. Dave Brown: And making their way to the ring. The King, Jerry Lawler and the American Heartthrob, Austin Idol. And your referee is Jerry Calhoun. .> As the match gets under way, Sir Oliver Humperdink walks over to the microphone. Lance Russell: What do you want Humperdink? Humperdink: Shut up Pencil Nose! I demand equal time on this show. You had time to talk to Lawler and Idol earlier, you can darn well listen to me. Lance Russell: Well don’t you have enough to worry about in the ring. Humperdink: I said listen not talk. My wrestlers are warriors! Lawler and Idol have no idea what is coming. Remember, Warriors always have a plan and the best warrior execute it to perfection. How dare Lawler bring up Hiroshima to my guys? If he is not careful, October 3, 1985 will be “A day that will live in infamy.” Remember there is always a plan in THE HOUSE OF HUMPERDINK! Lance Russell: I hope you plan to go away Humperdink so we can get back to the match. Humperdink: As you wish Pencil Nose. Match #3: While Humperdink was talking with Lance Russell, Lawler and Idol had their way with the Japanese Assassins. Humperdink did not even slow down on his way to the ring. He crawled on the apron and nailed Lawler with his walking stick. He turns to the back and makes a throat slashing motion. While the ref has called for the bell giving the victory to Lawler and Idol by DQ, The entire House of Humperdink hits the ring. Sabu, Myers, Humperdink, Plowboy Frazier and The Japanese Assassins start to pummel Lawler and Idol. Lance Russell: Oh My God! We need help out here! Lance Russell: We only have about 1 minute left on television time left. We need help from the back. Wrestlers, Security. Anybody! Wildman Sabu and Duke Myers hold Idol down as Humperdink holds Lawler on the canvass as Plowboy Frazier hits him with Giant Splash after Giant Splash. As the credits start to roll, Humperdink pulls out a pair of scissors and hands them to Frazier. Frazier appears ready to cut Lawler’s hair but just in the nick of time, King Cobra and Tony Anthony hit the ring! Idol breaks free from Sabu and Myers. The Rock N Roll Express overwhelm the Japanese Assassins. The fan favorites regain control of the ring as The House of Humperdink makes a hasty retreat. Lance Russell: Let’s try to get order restored here. Get a doctor! Please, someone get a doctor! Voice Over: "The announcers on this program are selected and paid by parties other than this station, namely, the promoters of Championship Wrestling."
  8. Memphis goes with Superstar Billy Graham
  9. When will this start?
  10. I will wait and take the pick in November.
  11. Sorry for the problem. I am unsure if Reese is a free agent or part of the Oct. draft. I only want him if he is a free agent and can be picked up without moving to the end of the draft list. I just saw he is on both lists. Can someone clarify.
  12. I see that Travis was #1 for the Nov. Draft. Does that mean that I, as the new booker for Memphis would remain #1. I also noticed that Big Reed Reese was listed on both the free agents list and on the October draft list. I picked him up as a free agent. If he was not on this list, I do not want him. Could someone clarify this for me.
  13. Memphis drops Paul Peller and picks up Big Red Reese
  14. It seems like every one is in a rush to end the territory system and move on to the mess we have today. I love the idea of my small 3 city territory in Memphis. I guess I am so new to all this that I already feel overwhelmed. If so many of you want to start new organizations and go global, I guess it would only seems natural that the next NWA Champion comes from Memphis. Do I hear Lawler or Idol? Or maybe The first African American Champion.... Ernie The Other King Ladd. I am just kidding with all of this. Go as big as you all want but I loved the Territory system. This all seems very political and video game like.
  15. Memphis could see trading Sweet Daddy O Abe Jacobs Mike Boyette (Nov) Duke Myers
  16. I will take Memphis and leave Florida to the NWATerritory Superfan.
  17. I would also prefer Florida as a new writer.
  18. Alabama Wrestling Alliance Friday 23rd September 1983 Recreation Centre, Fort Payne, AL 7.00pm Bell Time In order to grow the promotion and keep fans up on all the happenings, Alabama Wrestling will be handing out The Alabama Wrestling Newsletter at all shows. This will be a monthly program that include a list of champions, coverage of major feuds and results from other shows. It will also rank the Top 5 Wrestlers in Alabama Wrestling. Match 1: Marty Oates and Scott Armstrong vs Don Bass and Dirty Rhodes Somehow, Armstrong and Oates prevailed in this match. Bass and Rhodes really controlled the tempo and abused to the two young wrestlers and really seemed to have the match won by using some real rough and dirty tactics. Oates was able to catch Bass with a sunset flip after an Irish Whip by Bass. Rhodes was slow to make the save and the ref made the three count for the win at 8:23. Bass and Rhodes could do nothing but walk away shaking their heads. After the ref raises the young guns hands in victory, he relays a message to the winners from the President of Alabama Wrestling. Going into the last quarter of the year, they are the two leading contenders for Alabama Rookie Wrestler of the Year which comes with a $5000 bonus. Both wrestlers seem happy at this announcement for a moment but Oates seems to have a very busy mind while the two head to the locker room. Match 2: Steve O vs The Shadow Steve O defeats the Shadow with a Flying Tackle followed up by a quick series of drop kicks that landed right on the Jaw of The Shadow at 6:03. This was Steve O’s first match in Alabama but his success in his career and his great technical skill had the fans on his side from his first step in the ring. After the match, Steve asked for the house mic. Steve O: I would like to take this opportunity to than you wonderful fans for your support. I am excited to be back down here in Dixie and I hope to make you all proud! I have also heard about what’s going on down here. Rotten Ron Starr, The Nightmares, Don Bass, Dirty Rhodes! All these characters have forgotten the ways of The South. No Respect! No Manners! I am here to support the great wrestlers like Johnny Rich, Ricky Gibson and Tim Horner. Any help you guys need, just ask! Match 3: Charlie Cook vs The Masked Raider (Norman Fredrick Charles III) Charlie Cook defeats The Masked Raider with a football tackle at 9:11. The Masked Raider really fought hard and his dirty tactics had Cook on his heels for a while but Cook was just masterful in this match. Match 4: Mike “Action” Jackson vs The Newest Nightmare, Ted Allen Ted Allen pinned Action Jackson at 17:42Truly a great match. Allen really had the ire of the fans from the beginning as once again he came out with his face painted in the image of the flag of Tennessee. Both these wrestlers can really did it all from the technical moves to the agility to the rough stuff. Even though Ted Allen is now a member of The Nightmares, he came out alone as Danny Davis and Ken Wayne were preparing for the Title Bout. The difference in this match happened with the refs back turned and Allen used a low blow to double over Action Jackson. He followed this up with a Piledriver and that was all she wrote. Match 5: Alabama Tag Team Title Match: The Nightmares, Danny Davis and Ken Wayne vs Ricky Gibson and Tim Horner The Nightmares win by pinfall at 23:41 as Davis pinned Gibson. The Nightmares, including Ted Allen, come to the ring waving the flag of the University of Tennessee and the crowd is basically beside themselves. As they hop up on the apron, Ken Wayne pulls out a piece of rope while it appears Danny Davis is holding some kind of doll. Upon closer inspection, it is a doll that has amazing likeness to The Legendary Football Coach, Paul Bear Bryant. Wayne begins to tie the rope around the neck of the doll and when he is done, Davis hangs it over the top rope while Allen grabs the legs of the doll and begins to pull. The dolls head snaps right off! The crowd is wild with anger. In fact security had to step in to prevent some pretty big boys from getting to the ring. Gibson and Horner had seen enough and go on the attack. After a period of all 4 men in the ring, the match settled down a bit. Horner and Gibson worked great together and seemed to be the better team. As Davis Irish Whipped Gibson into the ropes, Allen from the ring floor, tripped Gibson. The ref went to admonish Allen but this only allowed the Nightmares to use some illegal double teaming tactics which ended with a Tombstone Piledriver on Gibson. Wayne prevented Horner from making the save as the ref turned his attention back to the match and made the three count. All three Nightmares now turned their attention on Gibson and Horner. Allen entered the ring with a chair and was about to hit Tim Horner who was being held by both Wayne and Davis. The crowd began to roar. It was Steve O hitting the ring and everything in his path. Within seconds, it was Gibson, Horner and Steve O in control of the ring while all three Nightmares were on the floor. Thinking it was better to leave, The Nightmares grab their belts and walk out with big smiles on their faces along with their Tennessee Volunteers flag! Match 6: Alabama Heavyweight Championship Match: Champion Rotten Ron Starr vs Challenger Johnny Rich This match ended in a double disqualification at 26:17. Very little in this match resembles wrestling. It was an all-out brawl that ended when both men were counted out of the ring. The two men seemed content with this as the fought all the way back to the locker room. Chairs and ring posts seemed to be the weapons of choice and as they disappeared behind the curtains, both men wore a crimson mask. This is definitely not the last we will here of this feud. The fans left with a lot of emotions from the last two bouts. They were heard mumbling on the way out that the Nightmares are going to pay. Nobody gets away with putting Bear Bryant down! See you all next Wednesday in Gadsden!
  19. I just want to clarify what this site is all about. I became concerned when you guys were talking about Georgia running two shows a day and Florida having that potential. I went back and looked and Georgia did run two show a day but only listed matches and not re-caps of the matches. Florida seems to have a small 20 man roster and only ran a couple of show total. Am I reading this correctly? This game has so many threads it is somewhat hard to follow. To me, just listing matches is not as interesting for the reader but I am not sure if that is what you guys want. I was looking to run 1-2 shows a week with a major card 1-2 times per month. This was kind of the way I ran the first card in Alabama for Boon. Each card would include matches with recaps and some interviews or angles. Am I ok with the way I would do this? After looking at the rosters, and if my idea is ok, I would prefer Florida over Georgia and I am fine if all I do is Alabama but I leave this all up to you. Again, sorry to stir the pot.
  20. I have been following this thread and did not think it was my place to get involved. I am the one who asked about new writers and it seems to have touched some nerves. I have been quiet because I did not think I was my place to voice my opinion. I am very thankful to Boon allowing me to run his Alabama Indy this week and if you decide that is where you want me to stay, I am very happy. If you want me to run one of your dead territories, I will try my best. I feel you guys as a board need to figure all of this out. I enjoy reading your projects and what ever you decide is perfectly fine with me.
  21. Alabama Wrestling Alliance Foster Auditorium, Tuscaloosa, AL Wednesday 21st September 1983 7pm Bell Time Well before I begin, I would like to thank Boon for the opportunity to work for Alabama Wrestling. I hope I don’t mess anything up for him. Here we go. As the night begins, The Nightmares, Danny Davis and Ken Wayne, along with Ted Allen come to the ring. Danny Davis grabs the house microphone from the Ring Announcer. Davis: Well where the hell am I tonight? Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Just another backwards, Alabama hick town. Listen up all you losers, I got three things to say! The crowd is outraged and booing loudly already. Davis: First, if your third grade education allows you tonight, you uneducated rednecks, you might have noticed our faces are painted a little different. We still have the stars on our face but tonight they are in the pattern of the flag from the Great State of Tennessee! I am sure you all remember Tennessee and if you don’t you will remember them forever on October 15th. That’s right October 15th. The day The Tennessee Volunteers wipe the floor with that Pop Warner Team you call The Crimson Tide! Oh that’s right! Tennessee. The school that will run all over The University of Alabama in a few weeks. “Roll Tide Roll!!!” That does not mean roll over and play dead to the unstoppable Tennessee Volunteers but that is what you will do! The crowd is now beside themselves!!!! And you say Paul Bear Cub Bryant is a legend! A legend in your own minds I guess. Number 2, well, you can see, Ted Allen is out here with us tonight and let’s see if you can guess why? OH never mind, you people are not smart enough to guess. Ted is another fellow Tennessean and he is also the newest member of the Nightmares. We were already The Alabama Tag Team Champions with Ken and myself. Now throw in Ted Allen and we are now the unstoppable Tennessee Volunteer Army Nightmares! Third, we are here tonight to challenge anyone from the poor state of Alabama to challenge Ken and myself for the Alabama Tag Team Title. If anyone is man enough in this whole state, we will give you a shot at the Titles! Out comes Rotten Ron Starr…. The fans boo even louder! Starr: Nightmares, I am usually on your side but tonight you have crossed the line. I am from right here in Alabama and what you are saying is way out of bounds. I can put down these people but that is because family can to that to family. You people come here from Tennessee to work and earn a paycheck and you have the nerve to put down this state. If you don’t like it leave it! The crowd let’s out an uneasy cheer. Second, nobody, and I mean nobody, makes fun of The Legend, Paul Bear Bryant! That is sacrilegious around these parts and you will pay. I accept your challenge and tonight I will become the first ever Alabama Heavyweight Champion and Alabama Tag Team Champion! Davis: Starr, you got no shot, first, you are from Alabama and nobody from Alabama defeats Tennessee. Second, next to us, you might be the most hated man in the building right now and nobody would ever want to be your partner. Lastly, I don’t even think another person from Alabama would even dare to wrestle The Nightmares. Action Jackson runs to the ring to the cheers of the crowd and grabs the mike. Jackson: Well I know I can’t stand Rotten Ron Starr but he is from my home state. That’s right, I was born right here in the Great State of Alabama. Starr, I know we don’t see eye to eye very often but let’s take out these Nightmares and become champs. Starr and Jackson shake hands and head back to the locker room as due The Nightmares as both teams prepare for a title bout. The Ring Announcer picks the mic off the mat and introduces the first match of the night. 1. Scott Armstrong defeats The Masked Raider (Norman Fredrick Charles III) with a Superkick at the 8 minute mark. Scott Armstrong is now on a roll early on in his career and must be taken more seriously. 2. The Patriot and The Moondog battle to 15 Minute Time Limit Draw. Moondog seemed on the verge of winning about 10 minutes into the match after he hit a Giant Splash but The Patriot kicked out at 2 ¾ . As the bell sounded, The Patriot had hit Moondog with a Full Nelson Slam but did not have time for the 3 count. 3. Ricky Gibson and Tim Horner defeat Don Bass and Dirty Rhodes as Horner caught Bass with a rolling cradle at the 14 minute mark. Bass and Rhodes tried to use brawler like tactics but it just seemed they were a bit slow! 4. Johnny Rich defeats The Newest Member of The Nightmares, Ted Allen with a Lou Thesz Press at the 14 minute mark. What a match. Both wrestlers hit technical move after technical move as well as a bit of the rough stuff. In the end, Rich was attacked by Davis and Ken Wayne but Horner and Gibson quickly came to his aid before much damage could occur. 5. The Alabama Tag Team Champions, The Nightmares, Danny Davis and Ken Wayne defeat the Alabama‘s Own, Ron Starr and Action Jackson as The Nightmares caught Jackson with a Tombstone Piledriver followed by a Middle Rope Leg Drop at the 13 minute mark. Jackson was in trouble early in the match and went for a tag but his teammate, Starr jumped off the apron and with a huge grin on his face strutted back to the locker room leaving Action Jackson high and dry to fend for himself against all 3 Nightmares. After the three count, the Nightmares continued their assault on Action Jackson until help arrived in the form of Gibson, Horner and Rich. As the match ended, Gibson called once again for the microphone. Gibson: Nightmares! We have had it up to here with you. Insulting these great fans, attacking Johnny after his match. Going 3-1 against a helpless Action Jackson. You show no class! We are coming for you. This Friday, we already got the President of Alabama Wrestling to sanction the match! Nightmares, This Friday at Fort Payne Recreation Center we are coming for you and those straps around your waist! Nowhere to run now Nightmares! Johnny Rich grabs the mic: Rich: Rotten Ron Starr! You low down dirty Dog! How could you leave your partner all alone! You had this all planned out from the get go tonight. What’s Action Jackson done to you? Nothing! But guess what Rotten, We are also signed for Friday at Fort Payne! That’s right, I am the new #1 contender for your title. I too am from Tennessee but I was raised right by my Mamma and Poppa. I was taught respect and honor but I was also taught to knock low-lifes like yourself out! Friday! Fort Payne! YOUR TIME IS UP Mr. ROTTEN! The fans leave a bit relieved that their honor has been protected. They were pretty upset and the early comments and behavior of both The Nightmares and Rotten Ron Starr. Many are thinking of making the trip to Fort Payne on Friday.
  22. Thank you. Would love to join.
  23. I was running a promation on another site but it seems to have gone. Are there any openings here?
