  1. AWA continues to roll. Every time I wonder who is next up for the title shot, I forget Jerry Lawler is the man here in the AWA. I like how Bad News reminded Lawler that he isn't Tommy Rich. I have said if before but to me Keirn vs Idol is huge. I think the winner moves on to big things in the AWA!! You have done a great deal with a prolonged run with Snuka. I could never make him the star that he deserved to be. I had such trouble with his promos. You have done a great job with him as a baby face monster that it just works. Looking forward to this new feud with Gagne. Great job increasing the attention of the TV title. Bully better be careful. We have done a lot of great things here in Dawn of War that made wrestling in 1987 pretty creative but when I look at you taking some lesser know talent in Cameron and Snowman and making them into the new version of the Bruise Brothers, I am really happy we started this a few years back. Awesome!!
  2. Oct. 15, 1987 Episode 16 Gordon Solie: Thank you so very, very much indeed to another week of Mid-South Revolution Wrestling. I’m Gordon Solie, and it is my pleasure to be coming to you tonight from the Irish McNeil’s Boy’s Club in Shreveport, Louisiana. What a show we had this past Monday in Shreveport where Blackjack Mulligan’s problems with the Cartel continuds and Hot Stuff Incorporated took a huge step forward in their Mid-South tag team title chase with a tainted win in 6 Man Competition over the Freebirds. So much is happening here in Mid-South that we need to bring out the president of Mid-South, Ernie Ladd. Ernie Ladd: Thank you Gordon. I want to just restate that Mid-South Wrestling is a place where things get settled inside the ring. This past Monday night in Shreveport, Blackjack Mulligan had Jose Estrada locked in the claw when he was attacked by the rest of the Cartel. Blackjack left with a few bumps and bruises but did take home the winner’s share of the purse. Mulligan came to me after the attack and was fuming. He is sick and tired of the Cartel! I told him the best I could do is give him a rematch today on TV and he quickly accepted. I did warn him that to expect more of the same and he said he was ready for it! Not sure what that means, but folks, be ready. This could get interesting. Also, as you said Gordon, Hot Stuff Inc. did get a win over the Freebirds this past Monday night. To me, a win is a win. Nobody out here complained when Michael Hayes used the chisel against Ron Wright’s team in the tournament to crown new tag team champs. Nobody complained when Hayes used a low blow against Robley’s Monsters. And nobody complained when Hayes chased Missy Hyatt away during the finals of that tournament and then proceeded to interfere in the match. So, I don’t want to hear anything about a tainted win. Gordon Solie: Fair enough Mr. Ladd. Ernie Ladd: Hot Stuff Inc. defeated the Freebirds. End of story. To me, this means that they deserve a title shot and they will get it at Halloween Havoc. One last thing. Just like the Freebirds get to choose he will wrestle and who will “manage,” so will Hot Stuff Inc. They can pick between Eddie Gilbert, Rick Steiner or Brian Adams. Gordon Solie: Wow, that is going to be one interesting match! Ernie Ladd: That’s not all. Also at Halloween Havoc, we will see a rematch between Tully Blanchard at Junkyard Dog. Tully, the Louisiana Heavyweight Champion, did not do us all proud this past week in Shreveport when he simply walked out of his match to save his title so this time at Halloween Havoc, the title will change hands on a DQ or count-out by the champion. Gordon Solie: I will tell you Mr. Blanchard will not like this stipulation. Ernie Ladd: Not for me to care about. Also at Halloween Havoc, we will see Wahoo McDaniel vs Ivan Koloff. These two will face each other this week in Baton Rouge and the winner will choose the stipulation for the match. Gordon Solie: I will bet you no matter the match is, this one will be a war! Ernie Ladd: And speaking of wars… Dr. Death Steve Williams will put the Mid-South title on the line against the Russian Nightmare, Nikita Koloff at Halloween Havoc. If Nikita Koloff doesn’t win the title, he will not receive another title shot for a year! Gordon Solie: Thank you Mr. Ladd, Halloween Havoc is shaping up to be a great event. As for tonight fans, hold on to your hats. We have 5 great matches for you. First it will be a Coin Toss Match as one member of the Freebirds will take on one member of Hot Stuff Inc. Whichever team loses the coin toss will have to select their wrestler first. This one could be very interesting. Next, we will see JYD take on Vladimir Petrov. Ivan Koloff will be taking on Baron Von Raschke in a match between two very dangerous veterans. In tag team action, it is time for Colonel Buck Robely’s Army to step up in competition as it will be Nord “The Barbarian and the Mighty Goliath to take on “Canadian Strongman” Bill Kazmaier and Porkchop Cash. And as we already heard, the main event will be a rematch between Blackjack Mulligan and “El Jefe” Jose Estrada. This is going to be a great hour. Our timekeeper is ready. Let’s get to the ring for our first match. COIN TOSS MATCH One member of the Freebirds vs One Member of Hot Stuff Inc. All the Freebirds (Hayes, Roberts, & Gordy) along with all the members of Hot Stuff Inc. (Eddie & Doug Gilbert, Rick Steiner, Brian Adams and Missy Hyatt) all come out to the podium and are jarring back and forth with each other as Gordon Solie explains the rules. Eddie is strutting around, talking about how it is his time to take out a Freebird just like he did to “The So-Called Dr. of Desire,” Tom Prichard. The Freebirds are smacking their lips at the chance to get Eddie into the ring. Gordon tells Eddie he can call the toss in the air. Gordon flips the coin. Eddie Gilbert: Tails! Gordon Solie: Tails it is. Freebirds, you will have to pick which member of your team will wrestle in the match first. The Freebirds huddle around and you can basically hear them all arguing as each wants the match. Finally Michael Hayes steps to the mic. Michael Hayes: Gordon, this is my match. I brought Tom Prichard into the Freebirds and tonight I going to beat Eddie Gilbert into an inch of his life brother. It’s time to pay the pied piper. It’s time to answer the call Eddie. It is time for you and me settle this mono y mono. Gordon Solie: Well I guess there you have it… Michael Hayes vs Eddie Gil Missy Hyatt: Hold on just a second Gordon. We did not make our selection yet. Gordon Solie: Well, the way Eddie was talking, I was sure it would be him. Missy Hyatt: As we’ve said before, Hot Stuff Inc. is a training school for young wrestlers and what better training then learning how to shut up a loud mouth like Michael Hayes. Brian, (she turns to Brian Adams) you are our newest trainee; I think this would be great experience. Eddie studders as if he is surprised by this and argues that he really wanted the match… but then he says that he understands Missy’s reasoning and agrees that it should be Brian Adams. The Freebirds are all yelling at Gilbert and calling him chicken. Gilbert pretends to stand up to them, but Missy just pushes him toward the ring. The problem with this match is that all the Freebirds and Hot Stuff surround the ring as Hayes and Adams go to battle. As for the action, it is pretty even for the most part. The problem for Adams is that Hayes is as dirty as they come. After a pin attempt with a fistful of trunks by Hayes, Eddie and Missy jump up on the apron and begin arguing with ref Scrappy McGowan. WHAM…. Low blow by Hayes while the ref wasn’t looking. WHAM…. Running Bulldog by Hayes. 1…2…3!. Gordon Solie: And here we go. All the members of both sides are in the ring. Steiner is going toe to toe with Gordy. Hayes is all over Eddie Gilbert. Buddy Roberts off the top rope of Doug Gilbert. Missy is running around clawing people all over the ring. She is like a possessed cat! Folks, we have to go to break. COMMERCIAL BREAK-PROMOS FOR MONDAY @ THE RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX-BATON ROUGE When we come out of break, Gordon reviews the chaos we have just seem and hypes up the title match at Halloween Havoc! MATCH Junkyard Dog vs Vladimir Petrov A real power struggle without the hint of a technical move. The two big men go toe to toe until Petrov gains the momentum with some questionable tactics. Dog does a great job playing the face in peril and after a good beating, slowly makes his way back on top in the match with the finish coming after a huge Thump by JYD. Interesting note here was that the Koloff’s never made their way to the ringside. Dog gives a great promo after the match where he is all excited about his Louisiana Title match against Tully Blanchard at Halloween Havoc when suddenly, the interview is interrupted by Blanchard and Dark Journey. The confrontation is full of racial undertones as Tully keeps calling JYD, Boy, and he wants to know how this Boy, got his other Boy (Ernie Ladd) to agree to stipulations that no other champion had to deal with. Dog is so made that he walks about to the ring with his fists rolled in a ball as he is almost shaking with anger. WHAM… from out of nowhere, its El Jefe and the Cartel! They are all over Dog. Tully and Dark Journey simply walk away with a smirk on their face. The Cartel, get a good minute or two triple teaming JYD before Blackjack Mulligan rushes out swinging a chair and bust TNT over the head. TNT is out like a light as the rest of the Cartel drag him to safety. As Gordon takes us to break: Gordon Solie: It’s getting real hard for me to believe that Tully Blanchard is not El Gringo Grande. Every attack by the Cartel seems to benefit him. COMMERCIAL BREAK-PROMOS FOR MONDAY @ THE RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX-BATON ROUGE Before our next bout, JYD, with a towel around his bloody head, is back with Gordon and is yelling about what he is going to do to Tully in two weeks at Halloween Havoc and how Tully had the Cartel attacked him tonight with hopes of keeping the Dog from the Superdome in two weeks but nothing is going to stop the Dog from taking the Louisiana Title. The promo ends with a fee barks and howls from JYD and Gordon is actually laughing about how resilient JYD is and that Tully better be ready. MATCH: Ivan Koloff vs Baron VonRaschke Another pretty even bout that saw Ivan start working on the back of Baron after Baron got rammed into the corner. We see a few Bearhugs by Ivan but Baron wouldn’t quit. Eventually we see Ivan drag Baron out and then hit him with the big chain Ivan brought to the ring. Ivan could care less about the ref calling for the bell and hit Baron a few more times. Ivan is joined by Nikita at the podium Gordon Solie: Mr. Koloff, I must say that attack was completely uncalled for. Ivan Koloff: I no care what is called for anymore. Ernie Ladd, the boss man, thinks he can frighten us. He thinks because of American propaganda; American capitalism; American Made up Holiday of Halloween that we are scared. I will beat Wahoo McDaniel Monday night in Baton Rouge and then we will see how he deals with my specialty, a Russian Chain Match at Halloween Havoc. Nikita Koloff: And what’s this Ernie Ladd. You give me one last time title shot for year!! So what, Nikita only need one title shot. Dr. Death…. You are finished! Gordon Solie: I must say that I disagree with almost everything out of their mouths, but I wouldn’t want the Koloffs coming after me. Wahoo and Dr. Death better be on their “A” game in the Superdome! COMMERCIAL BREAK-PROMOS FOR MONDAY @ THE RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX-BATON ROUGE As we come out of break, Wahoo and Dr. Death are with Gordon Solie Gordon Solie: Gentlemen, I’m sure you just heard what the Koloff’s had to say. What are your thoughts? Wahoo McDaniel: I’m not going to stand up hear and take anything away from Ivan Koloff. I don’t like the man. I don’t respect the man, but I do know what he is capable of doing in the ring. Now that doesn’t mean I’m afraid of him. I will say that I would rather face him in my specialty, an Indian Strap Match, than I Russian Chain match but whatever it turns out to be in the Superdome, I am going to finish that Russian once at for all! Dr. Death: Nikita, you said you only need one match to take my title…. I guess that’s true but so far I have met you many times and each and every time I have walked out with the belt. I will do the same at Halloween Havoc. MATCH Nord “The Barbarian & Mighty Goliath with Colonel Buck Robley vs “Canadian Strongman” Bill Kazmaier & Porkchop Cash Bill Kazmaier is one of the few men in Mid-South who can match up with Robley’s Army, but he was soon neutralized as Robley clobbered him with the loaded forearm. This left poor Porkchop to deal with the two monsters by himself and this went about as poorly as you would expect. After Nord hit the inverted suplex, it was all she wrote except for the fact that Robley was screaming at Goliath to continue the punishment. Multiple Giant Splashes later, Goliath mercifully pinned Cash. Gordon was once again calling for help from the back as medics were needed to get Cash out of the ring. As Gordon was berating Robley about the unnecessary violence, Robley blamed Ernie Ladd as he reminded everyone that he warned Ladd and Mid-South Wrestling that people were going to get hurt the longer he made his team wait for a title shot. Robley let everyone know that Cash was just the latest victim but would not be the last if they didn’t get a title shot. COMMERCIAL BREAK-PROMOS FOR MONDAY @ THE RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX-BATON ROUGE MAIN EVENT MATCH: Blackjack Mulligan vs Jose Estrada As you would expect, this one is all Mulligan who has a lot of getting even to do with El Jefe. Mulligan eventually locks in the Brain Claw but and as you would expect …. Konnan and Taz rush out to save their leader. Gordon Solie: Oh, here we go again. The Cartel can never fight an even match. Taz and Konnan are in the ring…. Waitaminute…. Waitainute… is that who I think it is? Yes… its Ron Garvin and Terry Taylor. They hit the ring and are all over the Cartel! Mulligan told us he had friends and he wasn’t kidding. Garvin, Taylor, and Mulligan are really giving it Estrada and his partners. BRO-THER , The Cartel has messed with the wrong group here! Sorry folks we are out of time. Make sure to join us Baton Rouge this Monday night for another great show. So long from the Pelican State.
  3. While the Alabama football game kept the TV show short, it was an awesome week for Twin States. The back and forth between Platt and Johnny V was really well done as was the debate between Brad Armstrong and Mr. Fuller. The Fiesta Garden was a fun read. I wonder if and when Madril will be able to feel safe again and return with his lifelong friend! Wildfire is back again!!! No matter where he goes, Wildfire has brought big heat to Dawn of War. Looking forward to his war with his cousins. Love the T-shirt selections this week. As for the Boutwell, -I would have loved this show... Fuller vs Armstrong is back in full effect! I admit I was surprised at the Leduc turn but I should know never to be surprised with you any more.
  4. Great card. I need to see more Backland and Simmons. Such contrasting styles that anything could happen. Nice booking with this duo.
  5. Very interesting card with a lot of quality matches that helped everyone to understand just where people stand on your roster. Really interesting that the two biggest names on your roster, in my opinion, Savage and the Road Warriors, don't get a win. This just means trouble for everyone on the next big card!
  6. MId-South places the following on the trade block: Bill Kazmaier, Muta, Ray Stevens, and Baron VonRaschke
  7. UWF UPDATE: October 4, 1987 Bill Watts has made true on his promise to take on Mid-South Revolution Wrestling in a head-to-head battle in the Louisiana-Houston area. He has moved his weekly TV show from the Tulsa Civic Center to the Sam Houston Coliseum and this week alone, he ran house shows in both Houma and Thibadaux, Louisiana. He is also set to go head-to-head next week in the Monday Night Wars with his own major show occurring in Lake Charles while Ladd is going to be running in Baton Rouge. With Watts narrowing his territory, he did have temporary concerns of his bottom line. He believes that these will be short term as he is looking for a quick victory over Ladd and thus believing that he will be returning to the Dallas, San Antonio and Oklahoma venues by winter. In order to deal with this short-term cash flow problem, Watts released many of his mid-card wrestlers including Cocoa Samoa, Eric Embry, Danny Davis and in the words of Ted Dibiase, “the best tag team money can buy,” Fidel Sierra and Ricky Santana. These recent roster cuts have left the UWF void of any real tag teams, but it also added to the intrigue as Ted Dibiase, in his recent promos, is claiming that he fired Sierra and Santana because he was wrong. While he thought they were the best tag team money could buy, he recently saw a tag team that was even better and just like all rich people do, he bought them, and they will soon be in the UWF. There have also been rumors coming out of the UWF offices that Watts believed it was a mistake to vacate the UWF tag team titles and that he will soon be announcing the return of those titles. How those titles will be filled has yet to be announced. While you may think that by the mention a cash flow issues, Watt’s is struggling in his War against Ladd, this couldn’t be father from the truth. The UWF roster is stacked with big names and the feuds are heating up. Think back to the last show promoted by Perfectly Straightedge when a bag full of snakes surprised Ted Dibiase after his victory…. That’s right! Jake “The Snake” Roberts is back and he has declared war on Ted Dibiase. The way that the Million Dollar Corporation is set up now, it is Dibiase and Rotundo facing Snake and Hacksaw Duggan. Also, throw in the Captain Dick Murdoch vs Big Van Vader feud along with other stars like Scott Steiner, Hercules Hernandez and Muta, Bill Watts is able to put on one great show after another. Oh, don’t forget the money maker, the UWF champion, Lex Luger! Bill Watts has announced his next big show which will be on Halloween as he has decided to go toe to toe with Ernie Ladd. This event will be held in the Sam Houston Coliseum at will be shown live on regular tv compared to Ladd’s show being in pay per view. Matches for those two big cards should be announced soon. THE WAR IS ON!!!
  8. The tournament was so well done. So many little details that made it so exciting. The attacks by Ustinov on Brickhouse, Brickhouse coming back out to save Ranger Ross, the horseshoe (my favorite), the powder by Bruno, where is Cooley, AWEOSME!! I had a bad feeling that Madril was going home with the title. I could only imagine what the Fiesta Garden would have been like! I wonder what is being said in the locker room between the Armstrongs!! Interesting.
  9. Great pick up with Ox Baker. He is so great on the mic. Check out some of his old promos. He used to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid.
  10. October 7, 1987 Episode #15 Gordon Solie: Thank you so very, very much indeed to another week of Mid-South Revolution Wrestling. I’m Gordon Solie, and it is my pleasure to be coming to you tonight from the Irish McNeil’s Boy’s Club in Shreveport, Louisiana. What a show we had this past Monday in Lafeyette as it seems that Blackjack Mulligan’s problem with the Cartel continues. Blackjack Mulligan was attacked by the Cartel in the locker room prior to his match for the Louisiana Heavyweight Title with Tully Blanchard. Let’s bring out Jose Estrada and the Cartel now to see if we can get some answers to the attack. Jose Estrada leads Taz, TNT and Koonan to the podium and the group is full of some serous faces. Gordon Solie: Mr. Estrada, I must once again ask why you seem to be so focused on attacking Blackjack Mulligan. This must be the fourth or fifth time. Jose Estrada: Again, I am El Jefe, the leader of da Cartel! And no, we don’t have a problem with Blackjack Mulligan. He has a problem with us. We have been paid mucho dinero by El Gringo Grande to put him out of wrestling. Gordon Solie: We have heard this all before, but who is this El Gringo Grande? Jose Estrada: Orale, Orale Esse, I will give you one last hint. He used to be NWA World Champion! Suddenly, Ernie Ladd comes out to the podium. Ernie Ladd: Ok, El Jefe, I must admit that so far, I am a fan of your work. I mean, you have definitely made Mid-South Revolution Wrestling very excited as we do not know what is going to happen next. The crowd begins to boo… Jose Estrada: Gracias Senior Ladd. Glad Da Cartel can be of service. Ernie Ladd: Well that is exactly what I am here to talk about. Service… You see… I’m paying Blackjack Mulligan very well to wrestle against some of the biggest names in Mid-South and you and your ….. amigos… seem to have stopped that from happening. I understand you are all about the “dinero” as you say, but so am I. Jose Estrada: Not sure I follow? Ernie Ladd: Oh you will follow… you will follow me right to the ring this Monday night right here at the Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport and you will face Blackjack Mulligan, one on one inside of the ring where the paying customers can actually see you fight! The crowd stops booing and begins to cheer as they are ready for Mulligan to get his revenge. Usually, when heels are given such info, they begin to complain and protest but El Jefe actually thanks Ladd for making it easier for him to collect his dinero. The Cartel head off backstage as Ladd, who seems satisfied with his decision turns the show back over to Gordon Solie. Gordon Solie: Wow, I think both El Jefe and Blackjack Mulligan are looking forward to this Monday. As for tonight’s show, we have a lot of great action instore for you tonight. Brian Adams will be taking on Killer Brooks. Colonel Buckley’s massive monsters, Nord “The Barbarian & The Mighty Goliath will be taking on Action Jackson & The Italian Stallion. The Russian Nightmare Nikita Koloff has his hands full tonight as he faces Baron VonRaschke. Tully Blanchard defends his Louisiana Heavyweight Title against Scott Mcghee and in the main event, Rick Steiner takes on Terry Gordy! That and much, much more. This is going to be a really exciting hour so let’s get to the ring. MATCH The 6’6, 300-pound Brian Adams defeats Killer Brooks with a Spin Kick to the jaw Adams seems to be getting over with the fans, but the cheers quickly turn to boos as Missy Hyatt and Eddie Gilbert come to the ring. Adams quickly gets into a fighting stance, but Gilbert puts his hands up to show he comes in peace. Gilbert and Missy Hyatt close in on Adams and start to talk to Adams. Without a mic, Gordon Solie and the crowd have no idea what is going on. Adams doesn’t seem happy at first, but the negative facial expressions slowly change to one of uncertainty. Eventually, Gilbert and Missy Hyatt leave Adams alone in the ring as Adams is left pondering. Gordon Solie: All I can say is that I have learned not to trust Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt. I hope Brian Adams knows that too. We’ll be right back. COMMERCIAL BREAK-PROMOS FOR MONDAY @ SHREVEPORT MUNICAL AUDITORIUM MATCH Nord “The Barbarian & The Mighty Goliath with Colonel Buck Robley defeat Action Jackson & Italian Stallion when Nord face-planted Italian Stallion with an Inverted Suplex. The babyfaces showed they were full of fight, but the size and power of Robley’s Army was just too much. After the match, Robley warned Ernie Ladd and the rest of Mid-South Wrestling, that the longer they make his wait for a title match against the Freebirds, the more bodies that will pile up. Gordon Solie tries to explain to Robley that Ernie Ladd is not the type if man who likes ultimatums and lets Robley know that his team will have a tough test this Monday night as they will face the Spoiler and Baron VonRaschke. Robley laughs at the idea that these two over-the-hill wrestlers could give his Massive Monsters any challenge at all. COMMERCIAL BREAK-PROMOS FOR MONDAY @ SHREVEPORT MUNICAL AUDITORIUM When we come back from break, Gordon Solie gives us an update on Tom Prichard who was nearly killed two weeks ago by Eddie Gilbert when he tried to hang Gilbert over the top rope. Gordon let’s us know that Tom seems to be doing slightly better and has been taken out of ICU but he has a long road to recovery. MATCH: The Russian Nightmare Nikita Koloff with Ivan Koloff defeats Baron VonRaschke with the Russian Sickle. Gordon Solie isn’t wrong often but he was wrong with this one. Baron had a few minutes on top in this match, but the Russian Nightmare was pretty dominate. Solie admitted that he would not be shocked to see the Mid-South title around the waist of Nikita before very long. The problems for Baron didn’t end with the Russian Sickle as Col. Buck Robley lead his army back out to the ring where Nord hit him with an Inverted Suplex and then the 450-pound Goliath came crashing down on Baron with a Giant Splash from the middle rope. The Spoiler rushed out to help his teammate but without any help from Baron, the Spoiler was soon left laying right next to Baron with similar damage done. Gordon Solie called from help from the back as he rushed us into another commercial break. Just before the screen faded to black, we could hear Robley laughing about how his team was supposed to be scared of The Spoiler and Baron. COMMERCIAL BREAK-PROMOS FOR MONDAY @ SHREVEPORT MUNICAL AUDITORIUM As we come out of break, Ivan and Nikita Koloff are with Gordon Solie Ivan Koloff: When is enough, enough. Again, Nikita, the unstoppable force, had Dr. Death begging for mercy in da center of da ring. He was about to win the Mid-South Title when Wahoo McDaniel came to da ring and cost us the title. Gordon Solie: Mr. Koloff, I think you have selective memory. Ivan Koloff: Solie, don’t try to change the subject with your fancy words. Gordon Solie: I’m not trying to change the subject sir but merely pointing out that it was Vladimir Petrov who had that big chain and took a swing a Dr. Death. You also seem to forget that you, yourself, Mr. Koloff hit Wahoo McDaniel with that chain to get win in your match on the same night. Ivan Koloff: Again, you still refuse to talk about why Wahoo McDaniel was at the ring during Nikita’s title match. Typical American propaganda! The Russians storm off still not seeing Solie’s point. Gordon Solie: Sometimes people can’t see the trees through the forest. Let’s get back to the ring. LOUISIANA TITLE MATCH Tully Blanchard with Dark Journey defeats Scott McGhee with the slingshot suplex after a little help from Dark Journey. Post-Match Interview Gordon Solie: Mr. Blanchard, not sure you need those tactics to win a match but that is a story for a different day. I’m sure you heard Jose Estrada Dark Journey: You mean El Jefe? Gordon Solie: Okay, El Jefe. I’m sure you heard him say that he is being paid by a former NWA Champion. You, Tully, are the only former NWA champion employed by Mid-South Wrestling. Are you still going to deny that you are El Gringo Grande? Tully Blanchard: Thank you for congratulating me on another successful defense of the Louisiana Heavyweight title. A title, I may add, that I successfully defended against Blackjack Mulligan this week in the CajunDome. Gordon Solie: A defense that was made a little easy after Mulligan was again attacked by El Jefe and the Cartel. Tully Blanchard: I believe that this interview is over. Let’s go. Gordon Solie: Mr. Blanchard looks a little like the cat who ate the mouse. COMMERCIAL BREAK-PROMOS FOR MONDAY @ SHREVEPORT MUNICAL AUDITORIUM Gordon Solie: Mr. Gilbert, I must ask why you, for the most part, stayed out of the 6-Man tag match with the Freebirds this past Monday and made Mr. Steiner and your younger brother, Doug, basically fight the Freebirds in a handicap match. Eddie Gilbert: As I said when Missy and I first came to Mid-South, we said our #1 priority was training young wrestlers so they can be all they can be. What better experience can Rick and Doug get then in a match than against the Freebirds. Gordon Solie: Uh huh. And what were you doing early in the show when you came to the ring to talk to Brian Adams. Missy Hyatt: Some things in Hyatt International & Hot Stuff Inc. are better kept to ourselves. I believe it is time for Rick here to show Terry Gordy just how good our training techniques are. MAIN EVENT MATCH: Rick Steiner with Missy Hyatt & Eddie Gilbert vs Terry Gordy with Michael Hayes As you could expect, this match is full of big power moves and momentum changes. As time is winding down, Gordy catches Steiner with a big should block and signals he is going for the piledriver. Missy jumps up on the apron and distracts the ref. Eddie Gilbert from behind takes the legs out from Terry Gordy. Michael Hayes hit the ring. Here comes Doug Gilbert and Buddy Roberts… Gordon Solie: Eddie Gilbert has hit the ring and goes right for the knee of Terry Gordy. Gordy is down. Michael Hayes is in the ring. Gilbert and Hayes are trading blows in the center of the ring. Haymaker after haymaker. Here comes Doug Gilbert. Right behind him is Buddy Roberts. BRO-ther, we have a Pier 6 brawl in the ring. The Freebirds vs Hott Stuff Inc. Neither side will give an inch…. Now wait just a minute…. Here comes Brian Adams. What is he doing here… Oh my… Adams has just connected with a Spin Kick to the temple of Terry Gordy and he is down. It is 4 against 3 and lets not forget Missy Hyatt who is clawing at the eyes of Michael Hayes… Folks we are out of time. Make sure to join us right here in Shreveport this Monday night for another great show. So long from the Pelican State. MONDAY NIGHT AT THE SHREVEPORT MUNCIPAL AUDITORIUM Action Jackson vs The New Spoiler Scott McGhee vs Moondog Rex Col. Buck Robley’s Army (Nord “The Barbarian & Mighty Goliath) vs The Spoiler & Baron VonRashke Blackjack Mulligan vs Jose Estrada 6 MAN TAG TEAM MATCH The Freebirds vs Hot Stuff Inc. (Eddie Gilbert, Brian Adams & Rick Steiner) LOUSIANA TITLE MATCH Tully Blanchard vs Junkyard Dog STEEL CAGE MATCH Wahoo McDaniel & Dr. Death vs The Koloffs
  11. Medusa with a HUGE win! Medusa better be ready!!! Her comes Richter. The big 4 go round and round. You really know how to sell tickets. Singh and Bennett are one tough team. I am always surprised when they lose. They might keep the titles a while. Fun Big Show.
  12. NO.... it can't be the last time for Lawler vs Rich!!! One More Time!!! Thought that was the best Beauty Shop yet!! Where is Morrow? $20 not well spent. lol Snuka being real honest... My friendship with Colon ended a long time ago!! I think he is going to hate Gagne like he does Iaukea really soon. Idol vs Keirn is one of my favorite and most believable feuds in the game right now. This could be your main event for months and you would be printing money!! AWA is always such a great read. Thanks!!
  13. Looking forward to the Twin States Tournament. So many great matches that I have no idea who will get out of the first round, never mind win the title. Again, the highlight for me was all the great promos. Shaska, Tiger, Al Madril with Humperdink, The Rich cousins, Bruno etc... These really tell an awesome story and then the back and forth between Platt, BB and Valiant. It is the perfect Soap Opera for men. Great show Can't wait to see the mystery partner for Billy Travis!!
  14. Simmons vs Sid and Backlund vs Owen are such interesting and different types of matches that it goes to show you that if you go to a PCW event, there is something for everyone. Nice job creating this type of roster.
  15. Mid-South Revolution Wrestling The Cajun Dome Lafayette, Louisiana Monday October 2, 1987 Bell Time: 7pm Action Jackson wrestled Mean Mike Miller to a 10-minute draw. Action Jackson, a near 275-pound black man, handled himself quite well for a newcomer and showed some really great athleticism for a man his size as he connected with a big dropkick just as the match ended. Nord “The Barbarian” & Mighty Goliath defeated Pork Chop Cash & JT Southern with a double giant splash on Southern. TEXAS TORNADO TAG TEAM MATCH Ivan Koloff & Vlad Petrov defeated Wahoo McDaniel & JYD when the ref became distracted and Ivan hit Wahoo with the Russian Chain. LOUISIANA TITLE MATCH Tully Blanchard © with Dark Journey defeated Blackjack Mulligan with a top rope knee drop. The problems for Mulligan seemed to start way before the match even began as he staggered to the ring with blood dripping down his face. Tully and Dark Journey were all smiles as the big man came to the ring and tripped on his way in. 6 MAN TAG TEAM GRUDGE MATCH The Freebirds defeated Hot Stuff Inc with Missy Hyatt (Eddie & Doug Gilbert + Rick Steiner) when Gordy hit the piledriver on Doug Gilbert. Eddie, after his brutal attack on Tom Prichard two weeks ago, seemed to know he was the target of the Freebirds and he wanted no part of this match. Outside of a few occasions when Rick Steiner gained the momentum with a huge power move on one of the Birds, Eddie Gilbert rarely even tagged into this match and left his own brother to take a pretty big beating. LUMBERJACK MATCH FOR THE MID-SOUTH REVOLUTION TITLE: Dr. Death © vs Nikita Koloff Half the fun of a lumberjack match is watching all the babyfaces and heels on the outside go at it and this was no different here. In terms of Williams vs Nikita, this bout was a war that could have gone either way. Problem for Nikita was that he took the full blunt of the Russian Chain as Vladimir Petrov swung at Dr. Death on the outside of the ring but Wahoo came over just in time and knocked Dr. Death out of harms way just as the blow cracked into Nikita’s skull. Nikita was rolled back into the ring were Williams put an exclamation point on the match and hit the Oklahoma Stampede for the victory.
  16. For anyway in Birmingham, this was money well spent!!! Embry out of the stands! Brickhouse needs to make the save on Ranger Ross! Rich cousins win the title! A whipping of the heels and the Stomper! Excitement at every turn. Loved it
  17. I really enjoyed that show in the Richmond Coliseum. So many big matches with some angles coming to an end and others just getting started. I think you did an amazing job with Tom Magee and his TV run but I think you made a good choice in taking the title off of him. This title run could be used as a stepping stone for Norman Smiley. Huge win for the Killer B's over The Dirty White Boys in a Southern Streetfight. This type of match just screams White Boys but by you giving the win the the Bee's, it shows that they are ready for a big push. Nice booking. WOW... Road Warriors go down! Street and Dundee will make interesting champs to say the least. Hansen with a big win but then seems to have some new friends. This is going to be very interesting! Adonis gave it a nice shot! Wonder if he gets a rematch! Looking forward to Starrcade! Great job!
  18. Another great week in the AWA. I am enjoying how you are so playing the feud with Larry Z. and Al Perez. I have such difficulty doing this and you make it seem so easy. This is just so realistic for the 1980's! Bill Ash is the perfect leader for the Honor Roll. He played the role of the Professor so well in real life. Could this be the end of Colon as the evil, crazy heel? Can't wait to see how this plays out. You had me a little nervous with Crippler Oliver getting a mystery partner against the Bruise Brothers! Usually mystery partners = a Win and I thought my favorite team in the game was going to lose their titles!! Borne makes a great teammate and while round one ended in a DCO, this is going to be fun to watch. Also, fun to see Rich and Baby Doll get over on Lawler one more time!!
  19. Awesome show. I must admit that I, who know little about the actual history of Alabama, seem to think that Bob Armstrong has a good point. I mean why are these fans so quick to side with Fuller? Anyway, this is the angle I am most interested in our game today as it just seems so real and personal. be fun Bob vs Ron also seems to leave the rest of the Armstrong family in an interesting place. Looking forward to all of this. Speaking a family business? The Rich cousins seem to have an outsider stirring the pot. Another great angle that I am looking forward to. Great Fiesta Garden this week. Between Valiant, the Bullet, The Not Starr Brothers and Al MAdril, your hells are getting some BIG TIME HEAT!! I wonder if the babyfaces can stand up to all the pressure. It is going to be a great ride!

  21. The Backstory: Ernie Ladd and Bill Watts have been at war for the better part of 3 years. Ernie Ladd blames Bill Watts for his protégé, Hacksaw Butch Reed, turning on him and forcing Ladd into retirement after he lost a match to Reed where the stipulation was he must retire if Reed won. Ernie Ladd, not ready to fully step away from wrestling, quickly got his managerial license. Ladd and Watts continued their verbal war on Ted Turner’s Superstation each and every week. Ladd held nothing back as he was always ready to insult Watts along with constantly questioning his ethics. When Ladd’s tag team, Bad News Allen and Bad Bad LeRoy Brown, lost a loser-leave town match against Dick Murdoch and Rocky Johnson after Murdoch used some of the most questionable tactics you could use, Ladd had enough. Even though both he and Watts were retired from wrestling, Ladd challenged Watts to a match at Last Stand 86. When Watts agreed, the war was on! Problem for Watts was that he had made more enemies that just Ladd. Watts had recently suspended fan favorite Bruiser Brody for his feud with Black Bart. Well, Brody came into the ring and clobbered Watts during his match with Ladd. Later in January, Bill Watts had the police at the TV taping of UWF Wrestling and threatened to have Ladd and Brody arrested for trespassing. Watts claimed that Brody no longer had a contract to wrestle in the UWF. Ladd tried to explain that Brody has signed with him and Ladd is a licensed UWF manager and that was all that was needed. As the police closed in, Ladd and Brody put their heads between their legs and left; hoping to fight another day. That was the last we saw of Ladd in UWF Wrestling but weekly commercials began airing on TV discussing a Wrestling Super Event that was taking place on July 4th in Mobile titled Gauntlet for the Gold. Nobody new much about this and we knew it was not Watts promoting this as he was running his own big show on the same night in Biloxi. When July 4th came, light was shed on the situation. It was Ernie Ladd who was the man starting this new promotion, Mid-South Wrestling Revolution. Ladd actually showed up in Mobile with a bunch of coach buses. The buses pulled right up to the ticket lines for Watts event and promised everyone on line free tickets to his event along with a bus ride to and from the event! Watts came out and a full-fledged riot began in the parking lot. For the rest of the summer, the two promotions have had a war of words but only from a distance; Watts from his weekly UWF TV show on the Superstation and Ladd from his weekly Mid-South TV show also on the Superstation. Ladd has set his eyes on gaining control of Louisiana and has brought back the Louisiana Heavyweight Title. This week, Watts, in a meeting with his Board of Directors, agreed that his UWF promotion would crumble if he lost Louisiana. UWF has now agreed to focus their show on the Pelican State along with the city of Houston. While there have been territorial wars forever in professional wrestling, they have rarely been as visible to the public. Ted Turner realizes the Battle for the Bayou means ratings and he is loving every minute of this! Besides the war between Watts and Ladd, there are many other major angles in both promotions that I would like to catch everyone up on as I move forward. The Russians (Ivan & Nikita Koloff & Vladimir Petrov) vs Dr, Death Willians, JYD & Wahoo McDaniel This feud is everything 1980’s wrestling is all about. Americans vs Russians. Good vs Evil. Chian Matches, Steel Cage Matches, Dog Collar Matches and even the Mid-South title! Recently Dr. Death won the title from Jumbo Tsuruta but Nikita is clearly the #1 contender. Add in Ivan and Vlad, Dr. Death definitely needs some friends to watch his back! Luckily, you couldn’t find better friends than JYD and Wahoo! Michael Hays & The Freebirds vs The World! The Freebirds recently won a 16 tag team tournament to become the first ever Mid-South tag team champs since the territory’s rebirth. Along the way, Michael Hayes “out-cheated” all of the top heel tag teams in Mid-South. He used the chisel against Ron Wright’s Christian Wrestling Association. He found a way for Colonel Robley to use his loaded forearm brace against his own monsters, and he even out-smarted Missy Hyatt and Hot Stuff Inc. to become the champions. All three of these teams want revenge on Hayes and to take the title from the Freebirds. Ron Wright and Colonel Robley may have to wait their turn as the Freebirds have recently turned their attention on Hot Stuff Inc after the heinous treachery of Missy Hyatt and Eddie Gilbert as they nearly took the life of former Freebird Tom Prichard by hanging him from the top rope! Gilbert said he was mad at Prichard for “making eyes” at his woman but most people think Gilbert knew that attacking Prichard was the best way to jump the line and get a tag team title shot for Rick Steiner and himself. The Cartel Recently, “El Jefe” (Jose Estrada) has arrived in Mid-South with his Cartel (Taz, TNT & Koonan). For reasons yet to be explained, they have set their sights on injuring Blackjack Mulligan. Both times they have attacked Mulligan, it has been before a match with Tully Blanchard. When asked why they attacked Mulligan, El Jefe said they will attack anyone if the price is right. El Jefe did give a hint as to who was paying them to attack Mulligan when they said they were being paid by “El Gringo Grande.” Gordon Solie has speculated that El Gringo Grande may be Tully Blanchard as he is the one who benefited from Mulligan not being able to wrestle and that Dark Journey, his valet, was recently seen giving Woman a briefcase after her man, The Barbarian attacked Canadian Strongman Bill Kazmaier just before his match with Tully Blanchard. The Louisiana Heavyweight Title This title was recently brought back by Ernie Ladd as he said it was time to bring back Mid-South Wrestling to its heyday when Louisiana and the Louisiana Title was at the center of professional wrestling. The previously mentioned Tully Blanchard recently won this title with a little help from Dark Journey and The Cartel in a Gauntlet Match. Top contenders for this title include JYD, Wahoo McDaniel, Blackjack Mulligan and Terry Gordy. Ernie Ladd has announced that the first ever Mid-South pay per view will take place on October 31st in New Orleans in the Louisiana Superdome! The Million Dollar Corporation Ted Dibiase and Sheik Adnan Al Kassie are convinced that money can fix all problems. Over the last two months the duo has brought in numerous people to try and make sure Dibiase’s stable is the best in all of wrestling. First, Dibiase hired his old Rat Pack member Matt Borne. When Borne was not quite up to snuff, Dibiase brought in Mike Rotundo and the duo did a number on Borne and sent his broken body packing. Next, Dibiase said that he had the best tag team that money could buy in Fidel Sierra and Ricky Santana. Turns out, this was money poorly spent as Dibiase has tired of them and is now in search of an even better team than money can buy. Now as Dibiase and Rotundo are all alone in the Million Dollar Corporation, it seems the babyfaces are circling. Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Hercules Hernandez and Scott Steiner are after Dibiase as they know he is the most dangerous man in wrestling and would like nothing more than to send him and his money packing. If that was not enough for Dibiase to find help, he recently won a match and when he was given his bags on money, one of those bags sent him scattering as it was filled with SNAKES!!! Lex Luger: The Universal Federation Champion http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hzp7VVhNQgY/VbJE67acF6I/AAAAAAAAPcY/C7I_iQso8cE/s1600/Lex%2BLuger.jpg Luger has had an interesting year! While spending most of the year as a fan favorite, he did spend some time as a heel as he bought into promises made by Woman and joined her stable for a while. Who could blame him? I mean who could ever say no to her about anything. And let’s not forget, Woman did lead him to the title. When Woman abruptly left the UWF, Luger turned on her stable and once again became a fan favorite. So, who are the top contenders for his title; Ted Dibiase and Vader seem to be the top two at the moment. Dick Murdoch vs Big Van Vader Dick Murdoch seems to be hard to figure out lately. He was pivotal in protecting Watts from Ernie Ladd and Bruiser Brody this past spring but for some reason he turned against the fans and joined Downtown Bruno and Vader in their feud against Lex Luger. In a big match between Vader and Murdoch vs Luger and Muta, Vader seemed to bail on Murdoch. Murdoch was fuming and wanted a piece of Vader and Downtown Bruno. It is rumored that Bruno has left the UWF as he is afraid of Murdoch. Vader on the other hand is staying and is ready to fight. Talk about a feud of some tough hosses! Just To Sort Out The Roster Top Babyfaces: Top Heels Lex Luger Ted Dibiase Hacksaw Jim Duggan Big Van Vader Hercules Hernandez Mike Rotundo Dick Murdoch Scott Steiner Terry Taylor Muta *** Roster seems a little babyface heavy. Be ready for the chaos!!
