  1. As for Lowblow's idea, I only have 3 people right now that I could add to that draft so I would pass. But I do admit that I like the idea and if anyone else is interested, I could set that up.
  2. Mid-South Wrestling 1988: Episode #12: March 25, 1988 Gordon Solie: Thank you so very, very much indeed for turning into another episode of Mid-South Wrestling. I’m Gordon Solie and it is my pleasure to be coming to you today from the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana. Before we get to today’s show, I need to bring you back to the end of our show last week. VTR of locker rooms emptying to keep Super Destroyer and Hacksaw Jim Duggan apart. Gordon Solie: Oh BRO-ther…. As you just saw, we narrowly escaped a real donnybrook there but these two are going to meet in Lakefront Arena on April 1st, but more on the later. In fact, we will give a complete rundown of that huge event later in the show. I’ve had a chance to look at the entire card and it’s not something to be missed. As for tonight’s show, we have a great hour instore for you. We’ll see Hacksaw Jim Duggan take on the Nightmare. The Barbarians are looking to continue their winning ways against Shane Jackson and Rocky Duke. And fans… listen to this main event… It will be Jake “The Snake” Roberts squaring off against Million Dollar Corporation member Mike Rotundo. MATCH #1 Hacksaw Jim Duggan defeats The Nightmare with a football tackle. After the bout, Ernie Ladd and Hacksaw Jim Duggan are with Gordon Solie. Gordon Solie: Well Hacksaw, last week you and Super Destroyer nearly came to blows. He’s talking about some unfinished business between you and him. Hacksaw Duggan: Gordon… To tell you the truth, I’ve no idea what Super Destroyer is talking about. I don’t even know who he is. He comes out here week after week hiding behind that mask. If I knew who he was, I could tell you the problem between the two of us. All I know is he cost me a fair shot at Rick Steiner and that Mid-South television title. Ernie Ladd: Hacksaw, I agree with you on this and that is why I’ve added two stipulations to your match with Super Destroyer at Lakefront Arena. If you win, Super Destroyer must unmask and reveal who he is. (Hacksaw shakes his head in approval). Now, we all know how much his mask means to him so we need to balance out the importance of this match. So, if you Mr. Duggan, lose to Super Destroyer, you will not be able to wrestle in the state of Louisiana for the remainder of 1988. (Suddenly Duggan seems not as happy as he was a minute ago) Hacksaw seems to ponder for a moment and then shakes his head with approval and responds, “Deal” before walking off. Gordon Solie: This week’s spectacular at Lakefront Arena just gets better and better. Ernie Ladd: That’s not all. Gordon, last week I said that the Mid-South Title Match between Lex Luger and Butch Reed needed a special referee to keep order. I truly struggled to find a person who was both impartial and able to control these two super athletes. So, let the victory go the spoils. Dr. Death and Vader will be facing each other earlier in the night. I have decided that the winner of that match will be the special referee for the title match. Gordon Solie: Very interesting. Very interesting indeed. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR LAKEFRONT ARENA When we come out of break, Woman, Lex Luger, and Vader are at the podium. Gordon Solie: Woman, I’m sure you ‘re out here to respond to what Mr. Ladd just announced. What are your thoughts about the fact that Vader’s match with Dr. Death at the Lakefront Arena now determines the special guest referee for Lex’s title match with Hacksaw Butch Reed. Woman: To tell you the truth, it doesn’t matter. Lex Luger is The Total Package. Lex Luger is the Champion for a reason. Hacksaw Butch Reed has been bouncing around the country looking for work. While I have complete confidence that Vader will defeat Dr. Death… to me it is irrelevant who the referee is. Also, do you think I would allow any nonsense from Dr. Death whether he is the referee or not. One last thing Gordon. Do I look like a Woman who doesn’t have a plan? Gordon Solie: Fair enough. Now last week, Hacksaw Butch Reed made a comment about how even you know that he is a better man that Lex Luger and he referenced Chicago. Can you elaborate on that? Woman: No. Woman and her crew walk away as Gordon seems puzzled by her response and then gets us back to the ring for our next match. MATCH #2 The Barbarians with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie defeat Shane Jackson and Rocky Duke with a face-first suplex from Nord. After the match, Ted Dibiase (with his head wrapped in a bandage and a neck brace on) joins Sheik Adnan Al Kassie and Mike Rotundo at the podium. Gordon Solie: Mr. Dibiase, I see that you are here tonight which means that you are going to be evaluated by Mid-South doctors. If you are cleared to wrestle, you will face Jake “The Snake” Roberts for the Louisiana Heavyweight Title on the line. If you are not cleared, you will be stripped of your title and the belt will be handed to one Mr. Roberts. Ted Dibiase: Hold on a minute Gordon. As we all know, I am a very wealthy man and with my money, I have all of the best people working for me. That includes the best lawyer money can buy. As you can see by this letter, that Rufus Buckley, the greatest lawyer in the South, has filed a lawsuit in the Louisiana State Circuit Court in the amount of $1,000,000 against Ernie Ladd and Mid-South Wrestling for forcing an injured wrestler to compete in a match. Gordon, it doesn’t take a genius to see that I have a severe concussion and have damaged my neck. I think Ernie Ladd had better rethink his demands. Suddenly, Ernie Ladd comes back out. Ernie Ladd: Dibiase… A million dollar lawsuit? Now you have my attention. Maybe you are truly injured. Maybe we should delay your match against Jake “The Snake” Roberts. Ted Dibiase: (Smirking) Ladd… you better start to realize who runs Mid-South Wrestling and what I’m capable of. Ernie Ladd: Dibiase… um Mr. Diabiase… I do realize what you are capable of and that is why we’ve had a provite investigator following you all week. Dibiase suddenly has a confused look. Ladd pulls out pictures of Dibiase driving around a neighborhood without a neck brace or bandages. Other pictures show Dibiase working out in a weight room and finally, we see Dibiase with Sheik holding the neck brace and laughing like they have just come up with the biggest hoax in history. Ernie Ladd: Dibiase… how low will you stoop. My guess is it includes forging a fake legal document from Rufus Buckley. Now if you want to be the Louisiana Heavyweight Champion after April 1st, find a legal way to defeat Jake “The Snake” Roberts. Ladd walks off as Dibiase, Sheik and Rotundo look dumbfounded. Gordon Solie can only shake his head in disgust at what Dibiase just tried to get away with. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR LAKEFRONT ARENA After the break, Hacksaw Butch Reed and Dr. Death are at the podium. Gordon Solie: I guess that the next event at the Lakefront Arena has just gotten even more interesting. Dr. Death: You got that right Gordon. I would like to thank Mr. Ladd for finally coming up with a real way of stopping all the nonsense from Woman and her gang of cheaters … and that something is me! Gordon Solie: In order for that to happen Dr. Death, you’ll first need to defeat Vader. Dr. Death: That won’t be a problem. I beat him here on TV just a few weeks ago and now at Lakefront Arena, I’ll do it again. Once I get that referee shirt on, I can guarantee you that nothing will stop me from making sure Hacksaw gets a fair Mid-South Title Match. Hacksaw Butch Reed: Lex Luger… there is only one man to hold the NWA, UWF and Mid-South Title for more that 250 days… and that’s me. The only reason I’m not still champion is because you cheated. Now, after a short absence, I’m here to take back what is rightfully mine. I would also like to thank Ernie Ladd and Dr. Death in advance for making sure that Woman doesn’t get a chance to stick her nose where it don’t belong. Gordon… I heard you ask here about Chicago!! I guess what happens in Chicago stays in Chicago if you know what I mean. Gordon Solie: Indeed Hacksaw, Indeed. Let’s get back to the ring. Match #3 Mid-South TV Title Match Rick Steiner © with Missy Hyatt defeats Sweet Brown Sugar in impressive fashion with the German Suplex After the bout, Gordon Solie again tries to get a word with Rick Steiner about both his time as Mid-South TV champ and about his upcoming tag team title match against his brother and Hercules Hernandez but Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt once again cut him off. Eddie seems frustrated at all the time Rick is devoting to this TV title and that he better be ready for the tag match in Lakefront Arena. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR LAKEFRONT ARENA When we come out of break, Jake Roberts and Paul Ellering. Jake Roberts: Dibiase… I think you tried to sue the wrong person. Your lawsuit should not be with Mid-South Wrestling. It should be with your doctor. You say my DDT on the concrete floor caused a concussion. You say that my DDT on the concrete floor caused a severe neck injury. Neither of these are truly your medical issues. What you have is Ophidiophobia. Oh yes… Ophidiophobia… a fear of Snakes! Be careful, I heard the Snake in Lakefront Arena on April 1st is deadly!! Paul Ellering: Dibiase… I will admit that my time in this sport has been spent with some of the greatest of all time. The Road Warriors… Animal and Hawk… truly devastating. Jake Roberts… one of the most lethal men in all of wrestling… and Ted Dibiase… yes, Ted, we have spent a lot of time together of late and you are one of the greatest of all time…. The greatest at trying to buy your way out of a fight. You’ve had Mike Rotundo attack Jake. You’ve had Nord attack Jake. You’ve had Konga attack Jake. You’ve even had that fat slob of a manager, Sheik Adnan Al Kassie attack Jake. Now when you have run out of minions to do your work, you try this scheme you pulled tonight. You truly are great Mr. Dibiase. A great big fraud! Come April 1st when your head hits that concrete floor for a 3rd time, you will be the greatest loser! When Gordon reminds Snake not to overlook his match tonight against Mike Rotundo, Jake simply says that he is always ready to strike. Then he walks away with that wicked smile of his. Next, Dick Murdoch and JYD join Gordon Solie and they are once again fuming about the Barbarians and their attack last week on JYD. Murdoch, continuous on his rant like Gordon isn’t even there and he vows to bring an unstoppable force with his to Lakefront Arena and make sure the Barbarians pay for what they did to his friend JYD. Again, when asked by Gordon who his mystery partner for that bout is, Murdoch says that he hoped that he would have been here tonight but that everyone is just going to have to wait for New Orleans. Match #5: Main Event Jake “The Snake” Roberts with Paul Ellering vs Mike Rotundo with Precious Paul Ellering Unfortunately for Jake, this match was all just a big set up to try and make sure that he doesn’t make it to Lakefront Arena. After just a couple of minutes, The Barbarians and an unbandaged, un-neck-braced- Ted Dibiase hit the ring and are all over Snake. With the numbers just too much, Snake soon sees himself on the bottom. Dibiase locks in the Figure 4 and Konga is climbing to the top rope. Gordon warns that if Konga crashes down on Snake he could very well break his legs. WHAM… Murdoch shoves Konga off the top rope. JYD hits the ring and he is brawling with Rotundo but the numbers are still are problem for the fan favorites. There is a roar from the crowd… Gordon Solie: Fans… look at this… It’s the Bad Man for Borger, Texas. Stan Hansen is here! Big Lariat on Nord and he goes flying from the ring. Lariat to Sheik and there he goes. Powerslam by JYD on Konga. Konga rolls away. What a turn of events. Murdoch, JYD, Snake and yes, Stan Hansen have Ted Dibiase surrounded. As they close in on Dibiase, Sheik is able to grab his legs and drag him to safety. The heels are left outside the ring with the fan favorites daring them to fight. Gordon Solie: Fans… what an hour this has been. I can also assure you that the matches are better in person. If you are anywhere near New Orleans on April 1st head to Lakefront Arena for a tremendous night of wrestling. So long from the Pelican State. LAKEFRONT ARENA APRIL 1 The Grappler vs Rocky King (MASK VS CONTRACT MATCH) Super Destroyer vs Hacksaw Jim Duggan: Super D’s mask is on the line New Orleans Street Fight The Barbarians with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie vs “Captain Redneck” Dick Murdoch & Stan Hansen Winner is the Special Guest Referee for tonight's Mid-South Title Match Vader with Woman vs Dr. Death Steve Williams Mid-South Tag Team Title Match Scott Steiner & Hercules Hernandez © vs Eddie Gilbert & Rick Steiner with Missy Hyatt Louisiana Title Match Ted Dibiase with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie vs Jake “The Snake” Roberts Mid South Title Match with Dr. Death as Special Guest Referee Lex Luger © with Woman vs Hacksaw Butch Reed
  3. Mid-South adds Ray Candy
  4. Caveman Broda is a good find. He is all yours.
  5. I am fine with Tony Divito as long as everyone else is.
  6. I have added Johnny Weiss and Prissie Purcell to your roster. I cannot add Raul Guzman and Tony DeVito. Both wrestlingdata.com and cagematch.com have Guzman not wrestling more than 10 matches in any year after 1979 so by our rules he would be retired. Also, both websites have no evidence of Tony Divito . They do list Tony DeVito starting in 1992. If you can find any evidence that Raul Guzman was still active for more than 10 matches a year in 88, I can add him to your roster. Also, same goes for Divito or DeVito. Any evidence that he was active in 88 will allow him to be added to your roster.
  7. Continental Wrestling Association: Episode #5: April 8, 1988 The traditional CWA opening is played with some music being played as we see all the big stars of Memphis past hitting big moves. One exception is there is no Jerry “The King” Lawler in the intro. Lance Russell: Yeellow everybody. Welcome to another action-packed, exciting hour of Championship Wrestling, professional wrestling like it used to be and the way you like it. I’m Lance Russell what a show we have for you this week. Jeff Jarrett, Jerry’s son is set to make his CWA debut. Also returning to the Memphis area is “The Rebel” Dick Slater. We will also see Rip Rogers taking on Brad Armstrong’s younger brother, Scott Armstrong. And in the main event, it will be The Shaska Whatley taking on “The Fab One” Steve Keirn. And if that’s not enough the Dutchman, Dutch Mantell will be in action. Dutch Mantell: First of all, a big treat for all the fans today. Dirty Dutch will be wrestling in the flesh. Don't be surprised if all the wrestlers in the back come out of the dressing room just to watch exactly how a pro does it. And how am I not in the main event? I just don’t get it. Lance: OK Dutch. That's just about enough of you patting yourself on the back. We're just about ready to get to the action fans. Bell Time! Heeeerrreeee we go! Match #1 Jeff Jarrett defeats “Bad Boy” Larry Cheatum by submission with the Figure Four Even though young 21 year old Jarrett is new to the area, with Jerry Jarrett being a fixture in Memphis, it’s like the fans have known him forever. Jeff came out to the ring, high-fiving the fans and playing “The South’s Gonna Do It Again” by The Charlie Daniels Band. Throughout the match, Cheatum tried to use the rough stuff against the somewhat slender Jarrett but JJ always seemed to be one step ahead of his opponent and soon began a ground attack; wearing down the legs. Lance kept pointing out that for a youngster, Jarrett had great skills and that he was going to be someone to reckon with here in Memphis. Lance continued by pointing out that Jarrett seemed to have paid attention all those years watching “Daddy” in the ring. Dutch simple said if he learned all his father knew, it would take about an hour. After the match, Jarrett comes to the podium where Lance congratulates him on his first win here in Memphis. Jeff Jarrett: Thank you Lance. Daddy and I thought it would be a good idea for me to get some experience outside of the area before coming home and I just want to say thank you to all me friends out on the West Coast who helped me develop. I’ve been around the ring my whole life and been studying from my Daddy for years. I hope to keep on learning and be the best I can be. There’s a lot of great wrestlers here and I hope that someday I can be one of them. Dutch: Son, I’ve known your father a long time and if you ever need some guidance, please call me first. Lance: Come on man. Jeff, don’t pay him an ounce of mind. Jeff Jarrett: Mantell, my Daddy told me to stay away from you. In fact, he said that if I needed anything, not to hesitate and go right to the Franchise Shane Douglas who I’ve gotten to know out there on the west coast. As JJ walks off, Lance: Well Dutch, I guess your reputation proceeds you. Dutch: Why that little ingrate. Commercials + promos for Louisville, Evansville, Nashville and Memphis. When we come back from break, we see Shaska Whatley in a pre-recorded interview. Shaska: Steve Keirn are you ready for the main event you jive turkey. You know who you’re facing in the ring today… in the main event? That’s right baby. You got me, Shaska Whatley. I got myself quite a reputation and tonight, I’m going to teach you a lesson. I hear they call you “The Fab One.” Well after tonight Keirn, you won’t be looking too fabulous. Back live, we see Lance standing next to Dutch Mantell with his bodyguard, Jeff Gaylord, standing behind Dutch wearing his black cowboy hat. Lance: You know Dutch, last week we saw a tremendous match between the Lightening Express and “The Big Russian” Boris Zhukov and Shaska Whatley. That match was happening with Soldat Ustinov back in Russia on official business. Well that proved to be untrue. Let’s take a look back at last week’s main event to see one of the worst brawls in Ozark Mountain Wrestling. The Lightening Express (Horner & Armstrong) vs Boris Zhukov & Shaska Whatley In the end, the match is going bonzo-gonzo with all 4 men in the ring. Zhukov has Horner locked in a bearhug while the ref is trying to break up Shaska and Armstrong. From the stands comes a big man with a sweatshirt and hood on. Nobody is sure who it is. WHAM… with his boot, the attacker knocks out Brad Armstrong. As the hooded man leaves the ring and jumps to the floor, he takes off the hood to reveal that he is Soldat Ustinov. Shaska covers Armstrong just as the ref turns around and gets the easy victory. At the podium… Boris Zhukov: Except for Shaska here, all Americans are dumb. So very dumb. It took two minutes for me to come up with a plan to trick each and everyone of you stupid, very stupid people here in America. WHAM… The Lightening Express attack and the brawl is on…. The problem was that it was 3 against 2 in favor of the bad guys. This puts Horner and Armstrong on the bottom of the pile after their initial surprise attack. WHAM…”Fab One” Steve Keirn rushes in to even the sides. This brawl is all over the Barn. In the ring! At the podium! In the stands! At the concession stand! There is no stopping this one! After the video tape replay, we see The Lightening Express in a pre-recorded interview. Brad Armstrong: Boris Zhukov… Soldat Ustinov … Shaska Whatley…. Everyone knows you cheated us. Tim and myself want those two ugly Russians back in the ring. Tim Horner: We’re not the type of guys to come out here crying about the past. That’s not what’s bothering us. It’s the fact that they had to cheat to win. We know in a fair match, the Lightening Express will come out on top of those two cowards 9 out of 10 times. Brad Armstrong: And Whatley? We aint forgot about you but we know that Steve Keirn is going to take care of business on the main event in just a little while. But Shaska… if there’s anything left of you after tonight, we’ll be more than happy to finish you off. Back Live Lance: Folks, I just wanted to let you know that the interview with the Lightening Express had to be done by tape because Brad Armstrong will be out of the area for a few weeks on a special wrestling tour of Japan where he will be taking on all the wrestlers in Asia. Now, I would like to bring out the general manager of Championship Wrestling, Eddie Marlin to comment on the video tape we all just watched. Eddie Marlin: Thanks Lance. I did watch that tape and I know to the fans, it was really entertaining. Tempers flared, people fought tooth and nail but all six men involved are professionals and we can't have that. They may mess up a TV camera. Some wrestling fans might get hurt as a result of a brawl like that. I'm going to have to fine every wrestler involved $500. Next, I think the Lightning Express we're unfairly tricked by Boris Zhukov. He out and out lied that Soldat Ustinov was back in Russia. So, when Brad Armstrong returns from Japan, I'm granting them a six-man tag match against the Russians and Shaska Whatley. Lightning Express you may choose any person you want to be your teammate and fans this match is going to take place on our big return to the Mid-South Coliseum on Monday night May 15thth. One last thing, Dutch Mantell, “The Franchise” Shane Douglas really wants to get a piece of you, but I told him as long as you're here announcing he has to leave you alone. He can't interfere with any of our TV matches or your job but if you ever get in that ring alone, I can’t help you. So, you better be ready. Lance: alright fans before we go to the ring to see rip Rogers and action let's hear a few words from a man who's been in the center of a lot of controversy lately; Mr. Ron Wright Ron Wright: rassling fans I'd like to share something with you. It's one of the thousands of letters I've gotten since coming to the CWA. It says dear Mr. Wright, I've been a fan of yours for a long, long time. You’ve always been one of the greatest and most popular wrestlers ever. I also love you great sportsmanship even when the other guys were breaking all the rules to try and maim and cripple you. Please take this $5 to help get you started on your way to recovery. I hope other fans send letters too with $5 of their own to speed up this process. I also hope you find a good Christian wrestler soon to help you on your way. Sincerely Cal Johnson. Fans, you don't know what this means to me to see all these kind supporters trying to help out an old crippled man like me. I really hope to sign some very talented Christian wrestlers real soon so I can have those surgeries on my knees and hips and get up out of this chair and walk again. MATCH #2 “The Hustler” Rip Rogers defeated Trent Knight with the Superplex (Ripperplex) Prior to the match, Rogers continuous his antagonizing of the fans as he took the house mic and demanded that they shut off his music, “You Give Love A Bad Name.” Rip Rogers: What I would like to have right now is for all you fat and out of shape sorry excuses for men who are sitting here reliving your glory days, to be quiet so I can scan the audience for one good looking woman to help me remove my vest. Most of the audience is booing but some ladies seem eager to come help Rip Rogers with the vest. Rogers circles the ring, while scanning the audience for a helper. Rip Rogers: Ummm, I can’t believe it. Not one good looking woman in the entire audience. I guess ugly just keeps breeding ugly in this part of the county. I guess it will be just another week of me taking of my own vest. From here, Rogers attacks Knight before the bell and just breaks ever rule he could before the Ripperplex. Commercials + promos for Louisville, Evansville, Nashville and Memphis. Lance: Fans, with me right now is an outstanding wrestler… He’s been all over the world, wrestled the top wrestlers everywhere he goes and usually comes out on top … He’s no stranger to Memphis as he was recently a member of the AWA…none other than “The Rebel” Dick Slater. Slater gets a nice ovation from the studio crowd…. Dick Slater: First, I would like to say how excited I am to be back in the area and how excited I am to be in the CWA. This feels a bit like a homecoming to me. But make no mistake about it. I’m here for that Southern Heavyweight title. I know that’s there’s going to be a tournament coming up real soon and I plan on leaving that night as your champion. I have won titles all over the country. I’ve been the Florida heavyweight champion… the Southwest Heavyweight Champion, the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion and now I’ve set my sights on the Southern Heavyweight title. Last time I was in Memphis, that low life Tommy Rich cheated me out of the AWA title and now I plan on being Southern Heavyweight Champion. As Slater leaves the set, we see Dutch Mantell shaking his head like something isn’t right. His “bodyguard” Jeff Gaylord also seems concerned. Lance: Dutch, what’s wrong? Dutch: I don’t know. I just don’t feel right. I got a headache… the chills. Just don’t feel right. (Dutch starts coughing) Lance: Well Dutch, you might not feel so good, but I bet these pre-recorded comments from “The Franchise” might make you feel even worse. (Dutch moans) Shane Douglas: Dutch Mantell… since day one of Jerry Jarrett bringing wrestling back to Memphis, you’ve been doing two things. First… you’ve been running your mouth about how good you are and second, you’ve been running from The Franchise. I’ve been told from Eddie Marlin that if I come out there are grab you from behind that desk and just pummel you like you deserve that I will get suspended. I’ve also been told that anytime you put one foot in that ring, your MINE! I can’t wait for that day. I’m going to break you in half and shut you up once and for all. As we come back to live tv, Dutch is really coughing now and appears to be sweating. Lance: What in the world Dutch? Dutch: I’m sick. It came on all of a sudden like. Lance: You supposed to wrestling in just a few minutes. Dutch: Nah. I don’t think so. I think I got the swine flu or something. Dutch tells Jeff Gaylord to get in the ring and wrestle his match for him. Gaylord jumps to it, eager to please his boss. Match #3 Jeff Gaylord defeats Brain Smith with the Powerslam. As soon as the match is over, “The Franchise” Shane Douglas hits the ring with a microphone in hand. Shane Douglas: Jeff Gaylord… I aint got no problem with you. I believe Dutch Mantell is using you and making a fool out of you. Dutch Mantell… if you have one ounce of guts in your body, you’d come up here to the ring and we could settle this once and for all. Dutch Mantell: Wait a minute now. I’m sick. I’ve got a fever. Wham… From behind Gaylord attacks Shane Douglas and suddenly, Dutch seems healthier as he is screaming encouragement for his bodyguard. We get a minute of a good brawl before Lance leads us into commercial break. Commercials + promos for Louisville, Evansville, Nashville and Memphis. Main Event Match “The Fab One” Steve Keirn vs Shaska Whatley Whatley comes to the ring first with very fitting entrance music as “Bad” from Michael Jackson is blaring. Whately is in the face of as many fans as he could and is drawing some major heat. The boos change to cheers as soon as the first chord of “Go Fabs Go” is heard and Steve Keirn makes his way to the ring. As for the match, after about the 5 minutes of back-and-forth action, Boris Zhukof and Soldat Ustinov make their way to ringside. Lance says this doesn’t look good for Keirn and reminds us that Brad Armstrong was currently wrestling in Japan. It doesn’t take long as Boris caught Keirn with a big elbow in the back after an Irish Whip by Shaska. The more Lance talked about the interference, the more Dutch told him he was making things up. We go another 3 minutes of Keirn playing the “face in peril” before he mounts a great comeback. In the end, Keirn caught Whatley with a top rope dropkick and went for the cover. The two big Russians entered the ring and attacked Keirn causing the automatic DQ. The problem was that it was now 3-1 and Keirn was in trouble. Soon Dick Slater, Jeff Jarrett and Tim Horner hit the ring chasing The Russians and Whatley back to the locker room Before we head off the air, Lance lets us know that next week’s main event will be “The Franchise” Shane Douglas taking on Jeff Gaylord. Lance: Fans, That’s all we got time for today. Until next week, Lance Russell and Dutch Mantell saying bye bye everybody
  8. This week, I tried something new. I tried to follow the character show first and then read the the written part. I must give you some big props as it was spot on. Awesome job. Triumph was a great show with some big surprises. Nice job putting Benoit and Konnan together. While they are an interesting pairing, I think they both need some help getting over and this should help. Add in a feud with the Conquistadores, and I think 88 has become more promising for both. I have had the Roar Warriors a few times during my years in this hobby and I always found them hard to write for. I just found it hard to find a team that it would be believable that they would fall to. I think you have done that. Also, this could go back and forth for a while if you wanted. Almost like Lawler winning and losing the Southern Title a million times. I think a Spivey heel turn is just what this needed. It allows the angle to continue and keeps everyone looking strong. Freebirds... Steamboat.... Savage.... Mr. T..... Must see TV
  9. SO many cool things in this week's shows. I love the jobber names you come up with. Nice of Ricky Bobby to make an appearance. I guess he found out that if your not first, your last! I hope Medical Bill has a good doctor. Really enjoying the Garvin feud. Every time I look over the rosters of all of us, I keep seeing how many times both Ron and Jimmy have moved from one place to another. I think that is because we all enjoy using them. Good work here. Also really can't wait to see where you go with Brody-DeBeers. Really big angle for which ever direction you want to go.
  10. Awesome job continuing this small time feel. The Power Half Hour was a nice touch. A young Dundee with Bruno vs the Arkansas Terrors is a nice feud that will sell some tickets. Great job building up Ash vs Rose. For the people here this is like Hogan-Flair. Nice work and always a fun read.
  11. Champagne Slam is shaping up to be a really interesting night. For me, this is the first time I feel that Bad News really has an opponent who could take his belt. I can't wait to see which way you go. Also Zbyszko vs Idol is also interesting for the same reason. In this title vs title match, I have no inclination as to which way you are leaning. This makes it very interesting. Enjoying your work with Cannonball Grizzly. It is awesome how you find things for wrestlers I have no idea what to do with. Awesome brawl at the end. These used to keep me tuned in till the very last second as a kid. I couldn't wait for the chaos! I think this is why I grew up a Georgia Championship Wrestling fan (Any Southern Promotion) instead of the WWF even though I live in NY. Georgia just had many more of these wild brawls. You are playing very nice with the other promotions-hyping us the Crockett Cup in such a big way. I wonder if that had happened in the mid 80's, would we be left with only Vince for the next 3 decades. Awesome week!
  12. Mid-South Wrestling 1988: Episode #11: March 18, 1988 Gordon Solie: Thank you so very, very much indeed for turning into another episode of Mid-South Wrestling. I’m Gordon Solie and it is my pleasure to be coming to you today from the Rapides Parish Coliseum in Alexandria. Before we get to today’s show, I need to bring in Mid-South President, Ernie Ladd who has some information regarding our next big show on April 1st at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans. Welcome Ernie. Ernie Ladd: Thanks Gordon. First of all, I would like to discuss the Mid-South Heavyweight Title Match between Lex Luger and Hacksaw Butch Reed. I’ve been listening to both sides complaining about the outside interference that seems to be constantly going on here. Woman and Lex have expressed their concern about Dr. Death getting involved in the action and we have all seen how Vader seems to rush the ring every time Lex is any trouble. Now, I know I am constantly talking about how at Mid-South, we solve our problems in the ring but we also need to make sure our matches are held under equal conditions for all. Especially if these matches are title matches. So, I’ve decided that these matches will need a special referee to control the action at Lakefront Arena on April 1st. Next week, I will announce who that guest referee is. Gordon Solie: Mr. Ladd, that seems like a great idea. I also here you have an announcement on who will challenge for the Mid-South tag titles at the Lakefront Coliseum. Ernie Ladd: I was just getting to that. For the past few weeks Eddie Gilbert has been claiming that he and Rick Steiner are in line for a title shot. It seems like the Board of Directors agrees. At the Lakefront Arena, it will be the champions, Hercules Hernandez and Scott Steiner vs Eddie Gilbert and Rick Steiner. Gordon Solie: Oh BRO-ther…. Literally. This is going to be real interesting. We’ll have a rundown of the entire event for the Lakefront Arena at the end of tonight’s show. Speaking of tonight’s show, fans, you are in for a really great hour of wrestling. The tag team champions will be taking on “Iron” Mike Sharpe and the Assassin. Sweet Brown Sugar is looking to continue his unbeaten streak, but he is stepping up in competition as he takes on the Super Destroyer. Lanny Poffo will square off against the Italian Stallion. Lex Luger will face a big challenge today as he faces Mighty Goliath. If that is not enough Dick Murdoch and Junkyard Dog will take on the Barbarians. Looks like we’re ready for action. Let’s get to the ring. MATCH #1 MID-SOUTH TAG TITLE MATCH Hercules Hernandez & Scott Steiner © defeat “Iron” Mike Sharpe & The Assassin when Sharpe surrendered to the full nelson by Hercules. This match saw a lot of entertaining pose downs and tests of strengths that Mike Sharpe started but Hercules and Steiner finished. After the bout both Hercules and Steiner hype up their title bout with Eddie Gilbert and Rick Steiner. Scott says he is disappointed that it has gotten this far with his brother, but he completely blames Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt. He vows to give it 100% against Rick and would expect nothing less in return from his brother. COMMERCIALIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR LAFAYETTE (CAJUNDOME) When we come out of break, Woman, Lex Luger, and Vader are at the podium Gordon Solie: Woman, I just want to ask what your thoughts are that there will be a special guest referee at the Lakefront Arena for Lex’s title match with Hacksaw Butch Reed. Woman: To tell you the truth Gordon, Baaby, does it matter. Lex Luger is The Total Package. Lex Luger is the Champion for a reason. To me it’s irrelevant who the referee is. Also, do you think I would allow any nonsense from Dr. Death no matter who the referee is. One last thing Gordon… Hell has no fury like a woman scorned. Gordon tries to get Woman to give more details on when and by who she was scorned but Lex and Vader take over the interview. Luger, flexing and talking calmly, explains what he is going to do to Reed while Vader is much louder and demonstrative in his discussion of the beatdown he is going to give to Dr. Death. MATCH #2 Super Destroyer defeats Sweet Brown Sugar with the Superplex Post-match interview: Gordon Solie: Last week, you sir, interfered in Hacksaw Duggan’s attempt to regain the Mid-South tv title. Super Destroyer: Gordon, I’ve been telling anyone around here who would listen, that Duggan and I have unfinished business. In this business there are runners and there are fighters. I’ve know Duggan for a long time and I every time I’m around, he runs. Look at how long I’ve been trying to get him in the ring. Suddenly, Hacksaw Jim Duggan comes out and confronts Super Destroyer. Gordon Solie: Hacksaw, please… this is not the time nor the place. Hacksaw Jim Duggan (fuming over Super D interfering in his match last week against Rick Steiner and costing him a chance at regaining his TV title): You keep coming out here week after week and getting in my business. Last week you crossed the line. You keep talking about how we got unfinished business. Well that might be the first honest thing you said or done since you got to Mid-South Wrestling. With you being the coward that you are Super Destroyer: Coward… Hacksaw Jim Duggan: Yes coward… you’re the one hiding behind the mask. The two come together but the locker room empties to keep these two big men apart. Gordon Solie: BRO-THER… This situation is out of control and something needs to be done. COMMERCIALIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR LAFAYETTE (CAJUNDOME) After the break, Hacksaw Butch Reed and Dr. Death are at the podium. Gordon Solie: I guess that the next event at the Lakefront Arena has just gotten even more interesting. Dr. Death: You got that right Gordon. I would like to thank Mr. Ladd for finally coming up with a real way of stopping all the nonsense from Woman and here gang of cheaters and that something is me and Lex taking care of business! Gordon Solie: In order for that to happen Dr., first you need to defeat Vader. Dr. Death: That won’t be a problem. I beat him here on TV just a few weeks ago and now at Lakefront Arena, I will do it again. Also, I can guarantee you that nothing will stop me from making sure we get a fair Mid-South Title Match. Hacksaw Butch Reed: Dr. Death… I would like to thank you in advance for making sure I get a fair title shot and I know you will make quick work of Vader…. And Lex Luger… BROTHER… you aint got a prayer now of leaving with that Mid-South title! You know and I know that I am the better man. Even Woman knows I am the better man. Just ask here about Chicago! Match #3 Lanny Poffo defeats the Italian Stallion with a Frog Splash COMMERCIALIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR LAFAYETTE (CAJUNDOME) When we come out of break, Jake Roberts and Paul Ellering are at the podium where Gordon Solie informs that that Mid-South doctors still have not cleared Ted Dibiase to wrestle and that his Louisiana Title match for April 1st might be in jeopardy. Before Snake can respond, Ernie Ladd appears. Ernie Ladd: Gordon, hold on just a minute. The reason that Ted Dibiase has not been cleared to wrestle is that he has not shown up to any of our doctor appointments, so we have not had a chance to evaluate him. I have a feeling that Mr. Dibiase is trying to get out of his Louisiana Title defense at Lakefront Arena against Jake “The Snake” Roberts. I’ve said it a million times here. We, at Mid-South Wrestling, solve our issues in the ring. If Mr. Dibiase fails to show up next week to be evaluated, he will be striped of his title. Jake Roberts: Oh, what a wicked web we weave when we try to deceive. Ted Dibiase… round and round you go …. in your own mind that is. One moment you think you’re on top of the world. The next moment everything in your universe comes crashing down. You have come to the realization that you cannot defeat me so ….. what do you do… you run… you hide… you make up excuses on why you can’t come to work. Well, the time has arrived for you to make a decision. Show up to Lakefront Arena on April 1st and you’ll have your head slammed against the floor after another DDT. I will leave the arena with the Louisiana Title. Choice #2… Don’t show and allow everyone to see the coward that you truly are and then I will simply become the champion. As you see Dibiase… two choices… same result. Are you a man or a mouse? Paul Ellering: Oh Jake… For once I may disagree with you. Not the fact that you will soon be the Louisiana Heavyweight Champion but in your last question… Is Ted Dibiase a man or a mouse. Did he not walk out on Steve “Dr. Death” Williams and take Sheik’s money? Does he not have a number of henchmen do his dirty work for him? Does he not use a loaded black glove when the going gets tough. Has he not basically been in the witness protection program sense he last met you. The answer is clear Jake. Ted Dibiase is a mouse! And one last thing to ponder Dibiase. What is a Snake’s favorite food? That’s right… MICE! Match #4 Mid-South Title Match Lex Luger defeats Mighty Goliath with a Running Lariat. Interesting thing here was that Lex seemed to want to continue his attack on Goliath but he quickly left when Hacksaw Butch Reed came out to confront him. After the match, JYD and Dick Murdoch are at the podium to hype up tonight’s main event. Gordon also wants to know is JYD going to be Murdoch’s partner at Lakefront Arena. Murdoch simply smiles and leaves everyone wondering who has brought in. Last time he said he had a mystery partner it was Hacksaw Butch Reed. Who could be next to help him in his war with the Barbarians? COMMERCIALIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR LAFAYETTE (CAJUNDOME) Before our main event, Sheik Adnan Al Kassie and the Barbarians are at the podium. While the Barbarians have a big match tonight, Sheik is focused on the health of his Louisiana Heavyweight Champion, Ted Dibiase and what Ernie Ladd had to say about the situation earlier in the show. He is fuming at the idea that Dibiase is ducking Jake Roberts and threatens to sue Ernie Ladd for demanding that he show up to work while having a severe injury. Match #5 Main Event “Captain Redneck” Dick Murdoch & JYD vs The Barbarians with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie As the match gets set, Gordon Solie wonders if this is just a glimpse of what is to come at Lakefront Arena as he wonders if JYD is going to be Murdoch’s mystery partner on that day. As for the match, it is pretty even. The Barbarians do hold a power advantage, but everyone knows Murdoch and JYD are tough as nails and have some pretty big moves themselves. Back and forth we go until Sheik jumps up on the apron to distract the ref. WHAM… From behind, it is Mike Rotundo with a chair shot to JYD who is on the apron and never saw him coming. With JYD now on the floor, it is basically 4 on 1. Is seems like The Million Dollar Corporation is going to do everything it can from Murdoch ever getting to the Lakefront Arena. Here comes Jake Roberts and Paul Ellering… While the sides are a little more even, JYD is still on the floor and Murdoch is down. Sheik, Murdoch and the Barbarians are now all over Ellering and Roberts. Solie wonders if this was all a plan to get to the Snake as the Pier 6 Beating continues. Gordon Solie: Fans, this is turning real bad, real fast. It seems like Sheik Adnan Al Kassie was once again one step ahead in this game of minds. I just hope Murdoch, JYD and the Snake can make it to New Orleans in two weeks. Make sure to join us again next week. So long from the Pelican State.
  13. Mid-South adds JYD and Jim Duggan to the block
  14. Awesome Work. I am enjoying how all the fans around Arkansas are getting the angles. We get the friendly opener, Plowboys vs The Terrors, Tojo and The Headhunter vs Riggins and Dancing Wolf, and now Ash vs Rose. I wonder what deal Ash and the ref had. Awesome territory map. I used to try and do it but I am nowhere near as good with the graphics. If you would like to copy that into the Game thread, it would be great.
  15. Champagne Slam has an awesome lineup. The three matches that are of most interest to me are Idol vs Larry Z. I have no idea what your plans are here and no matter which way got go, it makes perfect sence! Next, Nikita vs Adams... I always had a felling that Adams would come out on the short end of this feud but he has held his own in the feud. Last, Colon vs Bad News.... to me, these are the two best men in the AWA right now and again, this will be a war where we can expect the unexpected. Also, while it is not a match yet, Johnny Rich vs Dream is a real Southern feud and would hope we get some version of this battle at the big card.

  17. Wow... so glad you reached out. You have added so much to our game in such a short period. I hope you are enjoying this as much as I am. The graphics are AWESOME!!! I need a lesson. Every event, whether it was a house show or the tv show has that perfect small promotion feel! Plowboy seems like a great addition to this type of promotion. Dark Journey might be looking for some new Arkansas Terrors if these two don't step it up. Tojo is doing an awesome job of getting some heat! Can't wait to see who wins the belt.
  18. CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ASSOCIATION: EPISODE #4: April 1, 1988 The traditional CWA opening is played with some music being played as we see all the big stars of Memphis past hitting big moves. One exception is there is no Jerry “The King” Lawler in the intro. Lance Russell: Alright wrestling fans welcome to another action-packed, exciting hour of Championship Wrestling. Professional wrestling like it used to be and the way you like it. I’m Lance Russell and on this week’s program you are going to see such stars as newcomer Too Cold Scorpio, Big Money Marcus, and The Franchise Shane Douglas. We will also be talking to “The Hustler “Rip Rogers. Ron Wright will be here, and I understand that my partner, Dutch Mantell has an interesting announcement. And listen to this fans, in the main event it will be Boris Zhukov and Shaska Whatley taking on the Lightening Express, Brad Armstrong and Tim Horner. Dutch do you want to tell us your big announcement now? Dutch Mantel: Honestly, I don’t want to tell you anything. Everything I say you argue with anyway. It seems like you and everyone else around here don’t care if I stay or go. Let’s get to the ring for Lukewarm Snake in the Grass or whatever this freak calls himself. Lance: Oh come on Dutch… That’s Too Cold Scorpio and I’m sure when you see him you will be impressed. Dutch Matell: That’s what you say every week and all I see are psychotics like Shane Douglas. Let’s get to the match already. Match #1 Too Cold Scorpio vs Teddy Angel Too Cold Scorpio, an athletic looking black man, gets the crowd grooving from the beginning as he comes out dancing to Jungle Boogie by Cool and the Gang. Scorpio jumps over the top rope and climbs to the top turnbuckle and does a back flip to really get the crowd hooked. For the entire match, which lasts only about 3 minutes, Scorpio wows the fans. His arsenal included missile drop kicks, top rope cross body blocks, superkicks and all other aerial tactics. The end had the crowd talking all night as he climbed to the top rope and did a double flip right on his already fallen opponent! At the end Lance asked Dutch if he was impressed now and Dutch retorted, “I would be impressed if this was Soul Train but it’s not. Its professional wrestling and I’m not the least bit impressed. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville When we come back, we see a pre-recorded promo with Zhukov and Whatley about today’s main event. Boris Zhukov: I just talked to Soldat yesterday, and he told me that he is working hard back in Russia on official business. I told him that in less than 24 hours, I was going defeat those stupid Lightening Express. I told him they were so dumb that they signed a contract to face Shaska and myself on TV and now everyone who watches, everyone who thinks that Brad Armstong and Tim Horner are great wrestlers, are going to see that they stand no chance against myself and the only American with class, Shaska Whatley. Shaska Whatley: When you got a name like the Lightening Express, I would expect to find a team that has power, speed, and skill. Well, the Lightening Express aint got none of that. They keep claiming how many times they beat this team and how many times they beat that team. One thing I know is that they have never beat Boris and myself and that’s not about to change tonight. Back on set … Dutch: That’s true Lance, The Lightening Express have never beat Boris Zhukov and Shaska Whatley. Lance: Dutch, that’s because Zhukov and Whatley have never wrestled together. Come on man. Dutch: There you go again Lance… arguing. Everything I say you argue with. Right now, I want to bring you back to last week and my match with the Lunatic, Shane Douglas. Video Replay of last week’s main event We see Douglas control the majority of the action and it looked to be over after a powerslam. Somehow Dutch kicked out at 2 ½ . Shane was shocked and took a few laps around the ring to regroup. Dutch got to the ropes which he was going to use to help him get to his feet but while he was there, Ron Wright reached under the bottom rope and appeared to hand Dirty Dutch a some sort of metal object. Shane groups Dutch by the hair and begins to lift him to his feet. Dutch throws that loaded right hand but Shane ducks under. Shane sees the illegal object and rips it off Dutch. Shane then puts it in his hand and with the ref out of position… WHAM… Shane knocks Dutch out cold! 1…2… Hold on just a minute. The ref now sees the object still in the hand of Douglas and he stops the count. He immediately calls for the bell and raises the hand if the unconscious Dutch Mantell. Back on set … Dutch Mantell: Shane Douglas wants a rematch! Why should I give it to him. He is psychotic. Some people may say that I’m afraid and in fact, they may be right. I have a fear of getting my body maimed by a man that has no respect for the rules. I think that’s good sense. After that match, when I finally woke up, I asked the good-hearted Ron Wright what happened. He told me that Shane Douglas clobbered me with a metal chisel. A CHISEL! He could’ve killed me. The next day, I needed to go clear my head. I took a ride over to Jonesboro, Arkansas and was walking around that sorry excuse for a city when this man came up to me and said, “Dutch, I’m a big fan of yours. I’m big and strong. What can I do to get into professional wrestling.” I told him you might just be the man that I’m looking for. I told him that if he did a few things for me, I’d help him break into the business. He agreed and in fact, he is here now. Out walks this 275-pound muscular man with no shirt. He is flexing and posing. He’s a sight to see. Dutch Mantell: Take a look at this man Shane Douglas. Impressive huh! From now on this man is gonna be by my side. If you “Mr. Franchise” Shane Douglas want a piece of me, you gotta go though this monster, Jeff Gaylord. Now everybody, put that in your hat and smoke it. Next, we go to pre-recorded interview with Ron Wright. Ron Wright: It really broke my heart last week to see Shane Douglas bring that chisel to the ring and try to severely hurt my friend Dutch Mantel. Now you can all see me, one of the greatest wrestlers of all time sitting in this wheelchair; crippled from those like Shane Douglas. My legs don't work. My hips don't work, and I don't want to see anyone else end up like me at all. I'm still out there looking to sign some Christian Rastlers to help rid this wrestling show of people like Shane Douglas, to help me raise some money for those knee and hip surgeries I need to get up and out of this chair. Thank you! Match #2 Big Money Marcus defeats Rikki Miller A few interesting notes here. First Big Money, in his Gambino crime family attire has added a briefcase to his ensemble. Ron Wright is also at ringside “scouting” the match. Both Ron Wright and the briefcase will play a role in the ending. For some reason, Wright didn’t like one of the decisions by the ref and wheeled himself over to give the ref an earful. This is when Marcus rammed Miller’s head into the briefcase which was perched on top of one of the turnbuckles. This briefcase shot may or may not have been accidental bit it was all Marcus needed for the win. As soon as the bought was over, Ron Wright wheeled himself away. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville When we come out of break, we see Roscoe Johnson, the leader of the Memphis Boys Club handing a plaque to Steve Keirn for helping them out on their recent Pig Roast which raised funds for the families devasted by last November’s tornado. Steve Keirn explained that he was thrilled to do it and that is what the Championship Wrestling Association is all about. He explains that the people of this area are one big family and whenever a family member is in need, everyone else joins in to help. Next Rip Rogers comes out to the podium. Rip Rogers: Lance, I was sitting in a steakhouse the other night when a couple of ugly ladies came up to me and asked, “why is someone as sexy as you living in this dump.” They told me I should be in Hollywood or somewhere fancy. I told them to go home, look at their fat husbands, and thank they're lucky stars that they were this close to someone as beautiful as me. Then I thought to myself, “why am I actually here? The answer is simple; to win the Southern Championship I keep hearing about. Also, because ugly people need to smile too and when they see me, they smile. MATCH #3 “The Franchise” Shane Douglas defeats Larry Cheatum with the Belly to Belly Suplex All throughout the match, Dutch Mantell comments on how Shane Douglas might be America’s next serial killer. Big, muscular Jeff Gaylord stands behind Dutch to protect him but also to nods in approval at everything Dutch says. When the match is over, Dutch motions to Gaylord and he heads to the ring. We now get a minute or so of a pretty even brawl between the Franchise and Dutch’s hired mercenary. Dutch, in his poncho and black hat rushes to the ring telling everyone that he needs to save Shane Douglas from the beating of his life. Instead, Dutch and Gaylord double team the Franchise. In the end, Shane ducks under a big lariat from Gaylord who in turn nails Dutch. Dutch tumbles through the middle ropes and out onto the floor. The Franchise now connects with a lariat of his own and sends Gaylord out, over the top rope, where he lands on Dutch Mantell. Douglas dares the duo to come back in the ring for more. Gaylord seems ready but Dutch instructs him to follow Dutch back to the podium to finish the show. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville MAIN EVENT MATCH The Lightening Express (Horner & Armstrong) vs Boris Zhukov & Shaska Whatley The bout goes almost 9 minutes of back and forth action. Armstrong and Horner using speed with Zhukov and Whatley taking advantage of some very questionable tactics. In the end, the match is going bonzo-gonzo with all 4 men in the ring. It took two minutes for me to come up with a plan to trick each and every one of you stupid, very stupid people here in America. This brawl is all over the small arena. In the ring! At the podium! In the stands! At the concession stand! There is no stopping this one! Eventually, Lance lets us know that we are out of time and the screen fades to black as the brawl looks like it is just heating up.
  19. Those would be two shows I would have loved to have seen. Prichard and Ron Starr would have been great to have seen. These two are great and bumping and selling. DeBeers getting ready for Bruiser... very interesting. Fuller and Stud Stable look like they are getting ready to be the top dogs in the NWA... except that the 4 Horsemen are still there. Speaking of the 4 Horsemen... interesting payoff to Paul Jones after the help from the Moondogs. Looking forward to the Crockett Cup
  20. I also use these short shows as a way to stay up to date and keep angles moving forward. Smart move. I continue to enjoy all the different angles you have. Rhodes-Race, Freebirds-Steamboat-Savage, the deep tag team division, some of the youngsters gaining some experience and in the case of Konnan, some allies. WCW has a real late 80's feel and is always a good read. Thanks for the effort to stay up to date even though life makes it hard.
  21. Since we just make up jobbers names and I am never going to have these guys in any angles, Mid-South releases JT Southern, Mike Jackson, Rocky King, Scott McGhee, Steve Cox, and Billy Two Eagles. I am a little ahead in my writing, so you may these guys as jobbers a few more times.
  22. Mid-South Wrestling 1988: Episode #10: March 11, 1988 Gordon Solie: Thank you so very, very much indeed for turning into another episode of Mid-South Wrestling. I’m Gordon Solie and it is my pleasure to be coming to you today from the Riverside Centroplex in Baton Rouge. Before we get to today’s show, I need to bring in Mid-South President, Ernie Ladd who has some information regarding our next big show on April 1st at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans. Welcome Ernie. Ernie Ladd: Thanks Gordon. Before I get to the April 1st show, I would like to once again thank the fans of New Orleans for there great hospitality last week. It was another great event and for those of you who were not there, the main event saw Dr. Death and Hacksaw Butch Reed defeat Lex Luger and Big Van Vader in a steel cage match with Reed getting the pin over Vader. Because of that win and his recent pin on Lex Luger, myself and the board of directors have decided that at the April 1st show, Butch Reed will get a Mid-South title shot against Lex Luger. Also, because of Sheiks Adnan Al Kassie’s interference in the Louisianan Title bout last week in New Orleans, Jake “The Snake” Roberts has been granted a rematch against Ted Dibiase at that same show. To make sure that Akbar does not interfere again, he will be handcuffed to the steel barrier surrounding the ring. We will announce the other matches for this great card in the weeks to come. Gordon Solie: BRO-ther. That card is shaping up to be one great event. Also fans, for those of you who were not with us at the Lakefront Arena, we do have a new Mid-South Television Champion as Rick Steiner defeated Hacksaw Jim Duggan. As for tonight, I can ensure the fans here in Baton Rouge, that you will also be treated to a great show. The Barbarians will be taking on Cajun Joey Jackson and Rocky King. Jake “The Snake” Roberts will be taking on The Nightmare. It will be The Super Destroyer vs Mighty Goliath. Sweet Brown Sugar will be making his debut as he takes on The Brooklyn Brawler and in our main event, it will be a rematch for the Mid-South Television title as Hacksaw Jim Duggan tries to regain his title against Rick Steiner. That and much, much more. It looks like we are ready for our first match. Let’s head to the ring. MATCH #1 The Barbarians with Skeik Adnan destroy Cajun Joey Jackson & Rocky King with the end coming after a top rope diving shoulder block by Konga After the bout, a quick interview with the winners has Akbar fuming not only about being handcuffed to a steel barricade during the upcoming rematch in Lakefront Arena but also that nothing has been done to Jake Roberts after another DDT on Dibiase on the concrete floor. Sheik goes on to announce that Ted Dibiase has a severe swelling on the brain and is unable to be here today. Next Sheik focuses on the Barbarians. He explains that his Barbarians attacked Murdoch last week in New Orleans because of the disgusting tactics that Murdoch used, in a travesty of justice, against their stablemate, Mike Rotundo. While Sheik was doing all the talking, The Barbarians were making some sick noises and were contorting their faces in all sorts of ways that they both had Gordon Solie very concerned for his well-being. COMMERCIALIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR ALEXANDRIA (RAPIDES PARISH COLISEUM) When we come out of break, Eddie Gilbert, Missy Hayatt and Rick Steiner are at the podium. Gordon Solie: Well Mr. Steiner, you must be very proud that you are the new Mid-South TV champion? Eddie Gilbert: Please Gordon, we’ve been through this. Direct your questions to Missy or myself. Gordon Solie: Ok, how do you two feel about Rick being the new Mid- South TV champion. Missy Hyatt: How do you think we feel. We are like proud parents. All of our hard work has paid off as Rick has gone from a very raw, inexperienced wrestler to a champion, even if it is only the Television championship. Eddie Gilbert: I am all for Rick trying his hand at the singles thing as long as he remembers that the real goal is taking those tag team titles off his brother and that other numbskull Hercules Hernanadez. Gordon Solie: ok then. It seems like nothing here has changed. Let’s go back to the ring. MATCH #2 Jake “The Snake” Roberts with Paul Ellering defeats The Nightmare (Ted Allen) with a DDT After to the match, Roberts and Ellering head to the podium. Gordon Solie: Congratulations gentlemen but I am sure you don’t really won’t to talk about tonight. Paul Ellering: Gordon, you are very astute. While we beat the Nightmare tonight, it’s the nightmare of Lakefront Arena that has been weighing on our minds. Jake clearly had Dibiase defeated last week. The Louisiana title was ours. But Akbar once again stuck his nose where it doesn’t belong. He grabbed Jake’s leg and the incompetence of the referee disqualified my man. Things happen… sometime bad things happen but what goes around comes around. Remember that Sheik. Remember that Dibiase! Your time is coming. Jake Roberts: No rhymes this week. No riddles this week. Just cold hard facts. Dibiase, the last two times we’ve seen each other, I have nearly cracked your skull. DDT’s on the concrete floor. You may still have your title but you keep messing with the Snake, you might not have the ability to think anymore. How important will your money be then? At least you will be able to pay a nurse to feed you baby food and change your diapers. April 1st… Lakefront Arena… DDT #3! After Snake and Ellering, leave, Hacksaw Jim Duggan heads to the podium. Gordon Solie: Hacksaw… I’m sure that you are very focused on winning your television title back tonight. Hacksaw Duggan: Gordon… I’m taking nothing away from Rick Steiner. He beat me fair and square last week in New Orleans. The best thing about sports is there’s always another match. Today, I’m going to give it everything I got to prove that last week was a fluke. COMMERCIALIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR ALEXANDRIA (RAPIDES PARISH COLISEUM) After the break, Woman, Luger and Vader are at the podium. Woman: Gordon, baby, I’m sure you’re just as frustrated as we are. Butch Reed has returned to Mid-South Wrestling and within a few weeks, he has earned a Mid-South title shot. Gordon, we all know that it’s you who is really the brains around here. You must talk some sense into Ernie Ladd. Gordon Solie: Sorry, I’m just an announcer and to give you my honest opinion, Hacksaw Butch Reed is a very deserving competitor, who in fact, has actually pinned your champion since his return. Lex Luger: Gordon, we all know that was in a tag match and it was a complete fluke. What I can promise you is that on April 1st, I will walk out of the Lakefront Arena as the Mid-South Champion. I’m the Total Package and Hack Butch Reed is nothing but someone we call former champ. Gordon Solie: That’s Hacksaw Butch Reed Woman: Gordon… some respect please. Gordon Solie: Fair enough. Let’s get back to the action. Match #3 Super Destroyer defeats Mighty Goliath with a double leg drop from the top rope After the bout, Super Destroyer is at the podium where he still has his sights on Hacksaw Duggan. He said he doesn’t care if Duggan is the television champion or not. Duggan is going to pay. When Gordon asks Super Destroyer about his obsession with defeating Duggan, Super Destroyer let’s everyone know that he will explain his reasons when he is good and ready but that Duggan knows why. COMMERCIALIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR ALEXANDRIA (RAPIDES PARISH COLISEUM) When we come out of break, Gordon Solie hypes up the next match and lets everyone know that if they are unfamiliar with Sweet Brown Sugar, they are in for a real treat. Match #4 Sweet Brown Sugar defeats the Brooklyn Brawler with a Missile Dropkick After the match, Dick Murdoch is at the podium with Gordon Solie Gordon Solie: Dick, last week in New Orleans, you had a big win over Mike Rotundo only to be attacked Akbar’s Barbarians. Dick Murdoch: (Picture Murdoch in one of his great screaming and spitting promos as he is fired up) Gordon… no matter what we do around here, there just seems to be a lot of garbage going on. The good guys win a match and scum like Sheik Adnan finds some way to take that away from you. Well, I’m from Waxahachie, Texas and my Daddy taught me one thing. Never back down. If they want a fight, I’m sure as heck going to give them one. My Daddy told me it doesn’t matter if there’s 3 or 4 of them, Fight! Fight till you can’t fight no more. Well Daddy… I’ve also learned a thing or two on my own. It’s always better to bring a friend or two with you to that fight. That’s just what I’m going to do. Barbarians… April 1…. Lakefront Arena…. You two goons vs my and the man I trust the most in this business… Let’s see if your as brave as you think you are. Gordon tries to get Murdoch to reveal who he might bring in for the fight with the Barbarians but Murdoch just storms off. Match #5 Mid-South Television Title Match Rick Steiner © with Missy Hyatt vs Hacksaw Jim Duggan Just like at Lakefront Arena, Missy and Eddie Gilbert offer no help to Rick Steiner. Also, just like at Lakefront Arena, the lines between heel and babyface are blurred. Steiner uses a lot of power moves but stays pretty technical. Duggan wants to turn this into a brawl from the opening bell. In the end, we get a really exciting match that ends when Super Destroyer hits the ring and goes right after Hacksaw Duggan. The ref calls for the bell and awards the match to Duggan by DQ but Steiner retained the belt. Really interesting thing here was that Steiner seemed upset at the Super Destroyer and went to aid Duggan. This didn’t sit well with Eddie Gilbert who demanded that Steiner take his belt and head to the back. Steiner seemed to stare about Hot Stuff for a second or two before listening. What Steiner did though was give Duggan a moment to regroup and he was now ready to square off with the Destroyer. These two gave the fans everything they could want with a 2-minunte brawl. Just as we were running out of time, the fans saw Duggan connect with a big football tackle on Super D. Gordon Solie: So long from the Pelican State.
  23. Mid-South adds Wahoo McDaniel and Ivan Koloff to the block.
  24. WOW... very productive week for PCW. I have trouble getting one show done every week. I am very interested in what becomes of Backlund. As you said, he went from two titles down to zero and he is one grumpy dude. Great job of continuing an angle from one show to the next. Scott Hall coming out with a bandaged knee the day after being attacked by the Playboy Club just adds to the angle. Good job with those added details. I also think you have put a lot of thought into showing all the stars on TV in pretty big matches but then you allow many of your stars to have easier matches at the hose shows. I think this helps build your brand along. Also with less stars at each house show, it would allow you to make some money. Smart. If I misinterpreted that, I'm sorry. Surprise match of the week for me was Cheetah Kid getting the draw from Pillman. I can't wait to see where Cheetah kid goes with this. He is going to be a superstar for you. Nice development here!!!
  25. Another great week for the AWA. The Dream Machine-Johnny Rich angle is really fun to read and it was all made possible by what you did with Tommy Rich. Great job a building from one storyline to the other. I am really getting into the United Kingdom team. They are such a contrast in styles that it is cool seeing how they function together both inside and outside of the ring. To my dismay, it seemed like Gagne, even in his absence had a plan for Crusher Blackwell to succeed. I like how you have Chicky Starr getting the first match in PR--- Good Booking! Title night was a great event and was well worth the price of admission. Looking forward to these monthly events. WOW WOW WOW... After all the great teams that the Bruise Brothers have gone through they go down to DJ and KK! This is what makes wrestling great. Learn to expect the unexpected. Great booking again. I wonder what will become of the Bruise Brothers... to the rebound or fold? Looking forward to the next show.
