  1. And all is right in Dawn of War.... Gene is back and right where he should be with CCW! Ranger Ross finds trouble right away with the Koloffs. This should be interesting. You with RPG and the interviews is going to be awesome. Glad you got the Dirty White Boys going right away. You have a great group of tag teams. Like Taylor and Zenk together. Even though I have not seen much ot Wildfire Rich as the heel in real life as I saw little of Memphis, your interview was perfect. I could just hear his accent in each word. Who is the mystery man.... I love angles like this. Kazmaier as a carny.... Fuller and Golden better be careful. Great to have you back!!
  2. Enjoyed the follow up to WrestleRock. I like when we get some new people involved. It forces me to do a little research. I admit I know nothing of Earthquake Ferris! Interesting interview with the Gagne's. Verne admitting to pulling some strings.....hmmmm. I don't trust either one of these two right now. Excited to see more Bock-Wahoo. The Beauty Shop is Back!!! Nice job. Glad the Dream Machine is back getting more attention then when he was with me. He deserves it. Charland and Gino bring some instant heat. I like new heels! Nice to see more of the Snowman! Awesome respect shown by St. Clair. Looking forward to seeing what's next for him now. Steamboat vs Haynes! This should be interesting. Steamboat can do it all and can carry anyone in the ring.
  3. WOW WOW WOW... What an event Cornette and the Midnight Express really seem to have a problem with the Masked Avenger and what win for Ron Simmons over Tony Atlas. Liked how the feud between the Midnight Express and Black Gold was enhamced by each side winning a match!
  4. Mid South adds RIcky Santana
  5. Mid South adds Alexis Smirnoff, Angel Acevedo, Mark Fleming, and Jerry Oates
  6. Anyone who wishes to see how we got here, check out the Mid-South Wrestling Archives thread as well as the Great American Bash thread JULY 3, 1986 THE COLISEUM ON THE MISSISSIPPI STATE FAIRGROUNDS JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI The show opens after its regular montage of Mid-South stars with a video tape showing Ivan Koloff help Nikita pin Magnum T.A. and become the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion at The Great American Bash in the Superdome. Jim Ross: Welcome everybody to another hour of Mid-South Wrestling coming to you this week from The Coliseum right here in Jackson, Mississippi. I’m Jim Ross and my partner today is none other than NWA President, Cowboy Bill Watts. Bill, everywhere I go, people are always talking about Mid-South Wrestling and this week, it’s no different. What an historic event The Great American Bash was. Cowboy Bill Watts: That’s for sure Jim. As NWA President, I would like to thank the promoters of Western States Wrestling, Continental Championship Wrestling and Mid-South Wrestling for putting on the greatest event in wrestling history. Folks, as you saw in the opening, Nikita Koloff is the new NWA World Champion. (Boos rain down from the crowd in Jackson). I know fans. I know. I feel the same way. Hopefully, Magnum T.A. will regroup and get that title back real soon! Fans who were lucky enough to be at the Great American Bash also know that Nikita Koloff is not the only new champion here in Mid-South Wrestling. As he has been known to do on a few occasions, “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd threw us a bit of a curveball at the Great American Bash by bringing out Bad News Allen to wrestle “Hacksaw” Butch Reed…. That’s right folks, Bad News Allen is back in the NWA after his year-long suspension and with the aid of Ernie Ladd, defeated Butch to become the NWA Mid-South Champion. We will be hearing from both Bad News Allen and Hacksaw Butch Reed a little later in the show. Bill Watts: That’s not all as we have another amazing hour of wrestling instore for everybody. We will have Freebird Michael Hayes in action. The Masked Superstars will tak on the Batten brothers. “Gorgeous” Gary Young will be taking on Brusier Brody. A new team calling themselves the Patriots will be taking on Don Bass and Iron Mike Sharpe. If that’s not enough, our main event is going to be huge. It will be Hacksaw Butch Reed vs Black Bart! Cowboy Bill Watts: That and much more as we will be hearing from many wrestlers who took part in the Great American Bash. Also, fans, don’t forget that next Friday we will be in the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston, Texas where we will see The Masked Superstars taking on the Mid-South Tag Team Champions, Dusty Rhodes and Blackjack Mulligan along with a 20 Man Over the Top Rope Battle Royal where the winner will get an NWA World Title shot, in New Orleans on July 16 against the Russian Nightmare, Nikita Koloff. We will be right back with our first match. COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMOS FOR HOUSTON AND NEW ORLEANS As we come out of break, Ernie Ladd and the new Mid-South Champion, Bad News Allen are at the interview desk! Ernie Ladd: What did I promise you Bill Watts. I told you Hacksaw Reed’s days at champion were coming to an end. I told you my man was going to be wearing the belt at the Bash. Bill Watts: That’s about all you told us. We all thought it would be your man, One Man Gang coming out to face Butch Reed. Ernie Ladd: One Man Gang? Are you kidding me? As soon as I signed Bad News Allen, I gave him a dozen donuts and sent him on his way. Bill Watts: Well don’t you think you had a responsibility to inform Butch Reed so he could properly train for the match? Ernie Ladd: Train… that’s all Reed does… train, train and train some more. The problem is no amount of training is every going to be enough for him to beat Bad News Allen. You know it! I know it and most of all Butch Reed knows it! Bill Watts: I’ll admit that if you keep interfering in the matches, it might be hard for Butch Reed. Ernie Ladd: Oh here we go again… Cowboy Bill Watts: Do you deny getting in the ring and using that Big Boot of yours against Hacksaw Reed? Do you want to see the video tape? Ernie Ladd: Oh yeah… a doctored video tape from you is just what I want to see. I’ve been around the block with you a time or two already Watts and we all know that one of us is not to be trusted! Cowboy Bill Watts: One us for sure. Well, this week in Houston, Hacksaw Butch Reed will be getting a rematch for his Mid-South title! Bad News Allen: And this will be the last time that Hacksaw Butch Reed will be able to get into a ring! As Ladd and Allen walk away, Watts can do nothing but shake his head at the two as he announces it is time to get to the ring. MATCH The Patriots (DJ Peterson & Todd Champion) defeat Iron Mike Sharpe & “No Class” Don Bass when Peterson connected with a 2nd rope shoulder block on Don Bass The crowd was really behind The Patriots who came out in red and blue trunks with white stars on them. Iron Mike Sharpe tried to play his “strongest” athlete in Canada gimmick but was quickly put down when Champion, 6’6, nearly 300 pounds of chiseled muscle hit the double bicep pose forcing Sharpe to shake the ropes in frustration. Their power, good looks and constant push by Watts and Ross helped the Patriots get over in the first bout in Mid-South Wrestling. COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMOS FOR HOUSTON AND NEW ORLEANS When we come out of break, we see Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie with Jim Ross and he vows revenge on Sgt. Slaughter …. is he ever dares to come back to the NWA. The crowd starts to chant USA, USA which really gets under his skin. When asked where his man Killer Khan was, Sheik almost admits that he had made a mistake but then puts all the fault on Khan who he has decided wasn’t the right man to achieve his goals of controlling the NWA and American Wrestling. He says he has the resources to do just that and that he is now on a world-wide hunt to find the perfect athletes to do just that. In fact, he is here tonight to look at one “Gorgeous” Gary Young. MATCH Brusier Brody defeats “Gorgeous” Gary Young with the Mauling Knee Lift Young may be willing to use any tactic possible to win a match but tonight he was in the ring with a wild man who could not be stopped. Young seemed to be genuinely afraid and tried his best to stay away from Brody but when Bruiser eventually got his hands on him, he beat Gorgeous Gary from pillar to post. As the ref was completing the three-count, Sheik just shook his head and walked away knowing that Gary Young could not be the center piece of his stable. COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMOS FOR HOUSTON AND NEW ORLEANS When we come back from break, we see Freebird Michael Hayes with Jim Ross as Ross takes us to a video from the Great American Bash where Michael Hayes first shakes hands with former Freebird Terry Gordy before putting some cream in his eyes which seemed to blind his former partner. Jim Ross: Michael, I understand that your life has gone through some profound changes recently with the breakup of the Freebirds but I must admit you have gone to far. Doctors are still unsure if Terry will ever regain his vision and will be out of wrestling for some time if not forever. Michael Hayes: So, you think I went too far. So, you think I was wrong. So what! Being a Freebird is a way of life. You live by a code and that code is simple… Freebird’S First. We fight together! We party down on Bad Street USA together. We stick with each through thick and thin. That code was fine for Bam Bam as long as we had his back. As long as we helped him out of every difficult situation he got himself in and trust me brother, there was a whole heck of a lot of trouble with Bam Bam. Then Terry decides tag team titles aren’t what he wants. He wants us to help him win the North American Title. Both Buddy Jack and I did just that. That’s the Freebird way. Then Gordy starts selling out. Not given 100% in our tag matches. Not caring if we won or lost the World Title. So, you see, Michael Hayes didn’t turn on Terry Gordy. Terry Gordy turned on the Freebirds. He found out at the Bash that the only way out of the Freebirds is to be beat out of the Freebirds. Part of me feels bad that he will never wrestle again but then I think back to who broke the code. Trust me on this Jack… Freebird Mania is alive and well. They are lining up down on Bad Street to take Bam Bam’s spot and soon the Freebirds will be whole again. Now let me go to the ring as these ladies are in for a treat as Purely Sexy is ready to give them the show of their lives. Jim Ross: I don’t know what to tell ya fans. Michael Hayes has his own way of looking at things. MATCH Michael Hayes defeats Ricky Gibson with the Running Bulldog Hayes used just enough dirty tactics to come out on top. While Hayes doesn’t always look the best in the ring, he almost always finds a way to come to win. Ross and Watts continued to talk about how disgusting an act Hayes had been apart of when he blinded Terry Gordy and while the doctors didn’t seem to have much hope of him regaining his sight, they hoped for the best as they would love to have him comeback at some point and give Michael Hayes just what he deserved! After the match, we get a back-stage interview with Black Bart who is spitting tobacco and cracking the whip while he not only hypes up tonight’s main event match where he is going to beat that puke Butch Reed but also hyping up the Battle Royal in Houston where dagummitt, he is going to win the thing and get himself a World Title Shot where he is going to defeat Nikita Koloff. COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMOS FOR HOUSTON AND NEW ORLEANS Prior to our main event Hacksaw Butch Reed is with Bill Watts where he has some intense words for Ernie Ladd. Hacksaw Butch Reed: Bad News Allen… I don’t blame you. We all know you’re nothing but a big dummy and you fell for the promises of the “Dirty Cat” Ernie Ladd. He promises you this and he promises you that and it all sounds great. He tells you all the times the sport of Wrestling has wronged his people and that it is time to stand up for yourself. Well, I promise you this Bad News Allen, this week in Houston I’m going to make you wish you never came back to the NWA. Make you wish you never even heard of Ernie Ladd and then I’m going for you Ernie Ladd. You got a long term memory problem. You seem to forget that it was me who put you out the sport of Wrasslin. It was who he slammed you to the mat and ended your career. Now I’m going for you again. This time you won’t be so lucky. I’m going to end more than your career! Bill Watts: Some angry words from Hacksaw Butch Reed but who can blame him. We have all seen what Ernie Ladd can do and this time, his interference stole the belt from Hacksaw Butch Reed and this week in Houston he is coming with two goals in mind. Get his Mid-South title back and get revenge on Ernie Ladd and his man, Bad News Allen. First though, he must try to find a way past the dangerous Black Bart. MAIN EVENT: Hacksaw Butch Reed defeated Black Bart when he followed up a Press Slam with a Top Rope Football Tackle Ernie Ladd and Bad News Allen had come out to ringside during the match and it seemed like they were poised to attack Reed to make sure he never made it to Houston. In fact, there distraction almost cost Reed this match as Bart took control of the match when Reed went to the ropes and dared Allen to get in the ring. Bart came from behind with a big elbow to the back of the head and then went on the offensive. He had Reed in such a bad way that he was confident to climb to the top rope for the as Trash Compacter (double leg drop) but Reed moved at the last second. Reed recovered first and took control for the last time. After the 3-count, Allen hit the ring only to be met with multiple right hands by Reed. Allen fell through the ropes as Reed dared him to come back. Ladd begged him not to and the dastardly duo left for the locker room as Reed sucked in all the cheers from the crowd. Jim Ross: What a night of wrestling it has been folks. Make sure to join us right here on the Superstation next week for another exciting hour of Mid-South Wrestling. Fans anywhere near Houston get your tickets for Friday night at the Sam Houston Coliseum. It is going to be a heck of a night of Wrestling. So long everybody! DARK MATCHES: (Mostly used this week to see how the fans react to some new talent in Mid-South) “Canadian” Ben Bassarab defeats Rotten Ron Starr with a Diving Cross Body Block “The Mighty Yankee” Billy Jack Strong defeats Mike Graham with a powerslam Rocky Johnson defeated “Hollywood” John Tatum with rapid fire punches followed up by a missile dropkick. Bob Roop and Crusher Blackwell wrestled to a DDQ as they brawled out on the floor. Jake Roberts defeated Norvel Austin with the DDT.
  7. Don't worry abou the scehdule. It looks like the Monsters are human after all! I find Madusa berating of Reggie Bennett very interesting!
  8. Mid South adds Todd Champion
  9. Mid South adds Bart and Brad Batten, Steve Strong, Ben Bassarab, Don Bass and Mike George
  10. THE LOUISIANA SUPERDOME NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA JULY 5, 1986 Jim Ross: Thank you. Thank you so very much and welcome once again to Mid-South Wrestling. Tonight is the final night of the Great American Bash. The first two nights in Denver and Pensacola have been extraordinary events and tonight will be just the same! We have 9 huge matches including all three NWA World Titles. The biggest question is can the American’s, on Independence Weekend, survive an invasion from the Russians who are coming both for the NWA World Title and the NWA World Tag Team Title. Don’t worry fans, the Americans are in great hands as Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death will be defending the Tag Title against Ivan Koloff and Kruscher Kruschev and then in thr bug one, we have the biggest name in American Wrestling today…. Magnum T.A. defending the World Title agains the Russian Nightmare, Nikita Koloff. That and much, much more on an historical night in the Louisiana Superdome. I see our ring announcer is set so let’s turn it over to Gary Michael Cappetta and get right to all the action. Gary Michael Cappetta: Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to the Louisiana Superdome. The National Wrestling Association in conjunction with Mid-South Wrestling brings you the best wrestling has to offer tonight as it presents the final night of the Great American Bash. Before we get to the ring, please stand and remove your hats as the great B.B. King plays our national anthem. NWA JR Heavyweight TItle Eric Embry vs Mike Graham Mike Graham was excited for the title shot and came out fast which caused Eric Embry to go to the questionable tactics right away. This might be the closest thing we get to a real wrestling match the entire night as many of the other matches are just going to turn into one brawl after another. We get a quality first match that saw many momentum changes but Embry showed that he was just dirty enough to keep this recently won Jr. Heavyweight title. The end came after the ref didn’t notice the low blow and them Embry came off the top rope with a forearm smash. The pin included a grab of the trunks and a foot on the ropes for leverage. Embry has proven to be one of the dirtiest wrestlers of the Bash and he put the other Jr. Lightweights on notice that they better be ready for anything when they come after his title. Grudge Match Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs Iceman Parsons These two, with contrasting styles put on a great match. Iceman with his energy wants to go at a fast-paced tempo while “the Sanke” wants to slow this one down into a methodical destruction of his opponent with the end coming with a sudden strike… the DDT. Neither one gets exactly what they want here in terms of a victory but they both get to beat on each other a bit; maybe too much. The action spilled outside the ring and they both seemed content to club away at the other and neither made it back to the ring. This brawl continued all the way up the ramp until the two were behind the curtain and out of camera shot. Grudge Match Terry Taylor vs Gorgeous Gary Young No matter how arrogant, confident and dirty Gary Young was in this match, there was no stopping Terry Taylor. In a match that Taylor controlled 75% of the action, he was able to put away Young with the Five Arm. The only thing that went wrong in this match for Taylor was the celebration. As he partied with the crowd, Young attacked from behind with a chair and left Taylor laying on the arena floor. It seems that this one is not over yet. Mid-South Title Match "Hacksaw" Butch Reed (c) vs Any Member of Ernie Ladd's Stable! The champ was at a clear disadvantage in this one. Everyone thought all along that it would be Ernie Ladd bringing One Man Gang to the ring to fight Reed as that is the only person we have seen him manage lately. The crowd and Reed were shocked when it turned out to be Bad News Allen. Allen had lost a Loser Leave Town for a Year Match against Magnum T.A. just over a year ago and the people had forgotten all about him. When he came out with Ladd, they were quickly reminded of how nasty and dangerous he could be. Bad News attacked before the bell but Reed was expecting it. No big deal to Allen as the fight was on and make no mistake about it…. This was a FIGHT! Unfortunately for ref Scrappy McGowen, he got a little to close to the action and was knocked down by Reed with an accidentel shoulder block. With the ref down, here comes Ernie Ladd and the 2-1 attack. Allen held Reed while Ladd connected with 3 Giant Boots to the head. Reed was almost done here. WHAM… Ghetto Blaster by Allen and Reed is now completely done! McGowen had recovered enough by now to make the three count. Jim Ross: I can’t believe what I have just witnessed. Ernie Ladd and Bad News Allen have cheated their way to the North American Title. This combination might be unstoppable! Hacksaw Butch Reed is going to need some help. Mid-South Tag Team Title Match: Bunkhouse Stlye "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes & Blackjack Mulligan vs Outlaw Ron Bass & Black Bart Come dressed as you like sees all 4 of these big “cowboys” in jeans while Bart and Bass have added some black cowboy hats to the attire. Bass has also brought “old Bessie,” his bull rope with him. We get a good 15 minutes of all out brawling with each man getting their time on both top and bottom. In the end, this brawl ends with a double count-out. Loser Leave Town Match Harley Race vs Larry Zbyszko Finally, this 18 month long feud must come to an end! Zbyszko pulls out the entire array of dirty tricks in this match to ensure it is not him. From playing the frightened heel and sucker punching Race as the ref tried to keep the former NWA Champ away to low blows to an illegal weapon (a small rope) used to choke Race with, Larry was a diry as good be. The problem was that each of these attacks just seemed to fuel the anger in Harley. In the end, we see the high, high vertical suplex followed by the top rope diving headbutt followed by the piledriver to give Harley the win. The crowd, who throughout history, has not always been behind Race, were ecstatic. This was mostly due to the fact that Zbyszko will be gone! They gave Harley a nice ovation and it was obvious that he was enjoying it. In fact, he stayed around the ring for an unusually long time. Almost like this might be the last time he is going to be here for a while. NWA World Tag Team Title Match Ted Dibiase & Dr. Death (c) vs Ivan Koloff & Kruscher Kruschev Back and forth we go. Americans in control…. Russians in control….. who will get the last run? We see Dibiase playing the face in peril and he is taking some serious double team moves from Ivan and Kruscher. Ivan tells Kruscher to hold Dibiase. WHAM… Ivan with a huge forearm to KRUSCHER….. Dibiase has slipped away at the last minute. Dibiase with the hot tag and Dr. Death is in like a house a fire! He is tossing both Russians from pillar to post. Dibiase is back in. The whip both Russians into one another and then slam their heads together. WHAM…. Dr. Death with the Oklahoma Stampede on Kruscher. WHAM…. Dibiase with a face first suplex on Ivan…. Right on top of Kruscher. Dr. Death with the cover….. 1….2…3! Dibiase and Dr. Death have survived this Independence Day invasion and are still the NWA World Tag Team Champions. And then the unexpected…. Ivan Koloff with his big Russian Chain….. WHAM…. Koloff whips KRUSCHER off the ropes and levels him with the chain. Koloff continues the assault for the next few minutes. After Kruscher’s betrayal of the U.S. there is nobody coming to his rescue. THIS IS FOR THE RUSSIANS TO FIGURE OUT! And it’s obvious they did…. Kruscher is no longer with them. He is a man without a country! Steel Cage Match for the North American Title Terry Gordy (c) vs Michael Hayes Michael Hayes has no idea what he got himself into. Gordy pounds him from one side of the cage to the other as this match gets under way and Hayes and his pretty face are busted up early. Hayes with a rake of the eyes is able to slow down Bam Bam but only for a short period of time. Gordy gets the rather quick but brutal victory after a piledriver on Hayes. After the bout, and with Gordy heading back to the locker room, a bloody Michael Hayes, still groggy, grabs the house mic…. Michael Hayes: Enough…. Enough Bam Bam. This last month has been tearing me apart inside. We are brothers. I know families fight but in the end, they come together and that bond is even stronger. Come back here know and let’s get back to the way things should be… Freebirds helping Freebirds. The crowd urges Gordy to keep walking but Gordy has been a Freebird for a long time. He grew up in this industry with Michael Hayes and you can see it in his eyes that this means a lot to him. Slowly he turns, hands on hips…. Thinking… Gordy…..starts walking…. Back to Hayes. They embrace in the center of the ring for a long time. As the two head out, Gordy has his North American Title while Hayes gets his robe that he wore to the ring, the crowd is unsure what to make of this. Is Gordy going back to his heel ways or is Michael Hayes now with Gordy on the side of good? We don’t have to wait long to find out! Hayes reaches into his robe and pulls out a container of some sort of cream. He dips his hand in and comes out with a big glob of it. From behind Hayes violently rubs the cream right in the eyes of Gordy…. Gordy is screaming in agony. He is rolling on the floor, writhing in pain. Hayes still with the house mic… Michael Hayes: And once you turn on a Freebird, the Freebirds will DESTROY YOU! Hayes is getting all kinds of heat. Debris is raining down on him as he smirks his way to the locker room. Gordy needs help. It is like he is totally blind. Doctors rush to the ring. They place towels over his head and are screaming instructions!!! Gordy must be guided to the back where you hear people screaming to get him to the hospital. NWA World Title Match " The Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff vs Magnum T.A (C) The question is can Magnum muster up enough energy to survive the Russian Nightmare. He has dealt with a monster of a match with Jumbo on the first night of the Bash and last night he basically had to deafeat Superstar #1 and #1 in a 55- minute marathon. Everyone knows this is ble as Nikita has basically owned T.A. in their recent battles where he has done everything but with the belt. The best hope for T.A. is this is Independence Day and the crowd won’t let him go down to a Russian on July 4th weekend if they could help it. The match is a WAR but it is obvious that the last two nights has taken its toll on T.A.. He is one step behind the Russian Nightmare who is connecting with big move after big move. In a moment of pure desperation, T.A. catches Nikita with the Belly to Belly Suplex. 1….2… Ivan Koloff reaches into the ring and pulls T.A.’s leg and drags him off of Nikita. The pin attempt is foiled. The ref is admonishing Ivan and T.A. is glaring at him but nothing else comes of these shenanigans. T.A. is giving everything he has but he just can’t finish off Nikita. WHAM…WHAM…. A double clothesline and both men are down. Who gets up first will be in control. Despite the crowd’s help, T.A. collapsed along the ropes after dragging himself up hand over hand to the top rope. Nikita is up and gives an hellacious scream! WHAM…. Russian Sickle on T.A. when he was eventually able to get to his feet….. 1…2….2 ½ Kickout by T.A. The crowd is relieved but only for a second as Koloff drags Ivan up be his hair. WHAM…. A second Russian Sickle on T.A.. 1….2….2 ¾ Kickout by T.A. Nobody in the Superdome can believe it. Every wrestler in the NWA has been done after one Sickle but T.A. has survived 2. The crowd is screaming…. Nikita again drags T.A. and whips him into the ropes for sickle #3….. T.A. ducks under and hits the ropes on the other side. He meets Nikita in the center and wraps his arms around Nikita. T.A. is going for the Belly to Belly. WHAM… T.A. was just too weak and couldn’t execute the move. Nikita blocked it. WHAM… Short arm Russian Sickle…. 1….2….3! The crowd is in shock but they know they just saw a classic match. Even as the announcer calls for the NEW NWA World Champion, the what if’s start in the crowd. What if T.A. had not had to wrestle Jumbo the Masked Superstar the last two nights. What if there wasn’t so much travel. What if Ivan had not interfered. Make no mistake about it, the crowd in the Superdome booed like crazy when Nikita and Ivan celebrated in the ring but they also cheered like crazy as Magnum walked back to the locker room. They all know in their hearts that he will Very Soon win the NWA World Title for a 3rd time! And that’s the end of the Great American Bash 86!
  11. CCW relases Killer Khan. Terry Daniels and Danny Davis (Mr.X), Randy Barber, Mark Fleming, Mike George, Jerry Oates, Joe Savoldi, Ted Allen, and Jonathan Boyd
  12. PENSACOLA BAY CENTER JULY 4, 1986 Gordon Solie: Thank you. Thank you so very much and welcome once again to Continental Championship Wrestling sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance, the oldest and largest sanctioning body the world over. Tonight is going to be an historic evening as The Great American Bash continues with 9 huge matches including all three NWA World Titles. I see our ring announcer is set so let’s turn it over to Gary Michael Cappetta and get right to all the action. Gary Michael Cappetta: Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to the Pensacola Bay Center. The National Wrestling Association in conjunction with Continental Championship Wrestling brings you the best wrestling has to offer tonight as it presents the second night of the Great American Bash. Before we get to the ring, please stand and remove your hats as the great Lee Greenwood sings our national anthem. NWA JR. HEAVYWEIGHT MATCH Eric Embry © vs “White Lightening Tim Horner The fans are a little surprised here to see that it is Eric Embry coming out as the new NWA Jr. Heavyweight champion as he defeated “Mr. Electricity” Steve Regal last night in Denver. This fact matters little to them as they are all behind Tim Horner. After about 5 minutes of this match, it becomes obvious that it doesn’t matter if it is Embry or Regal as they are one and the same…. Cheaters! Embry is going to do anything possible to keep his new title and Horner seems a little off his game. Eventually Horner realizes that this has little to do with wrestling and it is time to fight fire with fire and the brawl is on! After a few minutes of wrestling from the top, we see Horner in complete control and Embry down on the mat. Horner climbs to the top rope as we hear the fans stirring. Gordon Solie: What’s he doing here? Its Steve Regal. He shoves Tim Horner off the top rope and Horner is down. The ref is calling for the bell. Regal is now climbing to the top rope himself. Wow… a devastating splash on Eric Embry! Regal now kicking and stomping away on both Horner and Embry. It doesn’t matter to him; Mr. Electricity is hitting everything in his way. It seems like he is out to prove that losing his title last night was a fluke, but this is not the place to behave like this. Typical Steve Regal… he can’t handle it when he is not the center of attention. I’m sure Tim Horner will have something to say about this and while I was not a fan of the tactics of one Eric Embry, I’m sure this is not how he wanted his first title defense to go. Winner by DQ: Tim Horner INTERGENDER MATCH Reggie Bennett vs “Dangerous” Danny Davis This match starts with a confident Danny Davis coming to the ring, antagonizing the fans showing off that 175 pound “muscular” body. This act continues all the way until Reggie Bennett hits the ring. She comes out to a huge ovation, and she hurries to the ring and goes right for Davis. Davis’ act is over now as he jumps out of the ring with the fear of God in him. Bennett turns to the crowd and the ovation grows louder. Bennett gives a few flexes and shows off what a body should look like. WHAM… from behind Davis nails Bennett with a running forearm. Bennett staggers but does not go down. WHAM… Davis with a knee to the back. Bennett again staggers. WHAM…. Davis, off the ropes, with a swinging neck breaker and down goes Bennett. We get a few minutes of dirty tactics from Dangerous Danny as he works over Bennett. That is until the crowd gets behind her and she does her best Hulk Hogan impression where everything Davis hits her is shrugged off like a gnat attacking an elephant. WHAM… Stunning short-arm clothesline by Bennett and down goes Davis. She drags him up by his hair…. Military Press… walks around the ring… BIG SLAM. Again, she drags him up by the hair, Irish whip to the ropes… Huge Running clothesline. And for the third and final time, she drags him up by the hair, and we hear Gordon Solie saying it looks like she is setting him for the piledriver… No… She lifts up but towards her face and slams him down on the back of her neck. (Powerbomb) This one is all over as the ref could have counted to 20! ANTHEM MATCH Killer Khan with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie vs Private Terry Daniels If Pvt. Daniels wins the match, the fans will celebrate to the Star Spangled Banner but if Khan wins, we will hear the Iraqi Anthem in honor of Sheik Adnan. The crowd in angered at the thought of hearing the Iraqi anthem on July 4th but their anger turns to cheers when Pvt. Daniels runs to the ring waving the American flag. There is a bit of uneasiness in the crowd for this one as you can hear the murmurs about how awful it would be to have the Iraqi anthem played on America’s Independence Day! Terry Daniels is game but Killer Khan is a monster. It becomes apparent that Daniels is in way over his head. With each kick, chop and punch, the end comes nearer. Eventually Killer Khan locks in the Asiatic Spike and it is all over. Sheik Adan Al Kassie comes into the ring looking very pleased with himself and grabs the mic, utters some words in Arabic and then demands that all American peasants rise for the national anthem of the greatest country in the world…. Iraq! The boos and debris rain down on Sheik Adnan and a confused looking Killer Khan. As the first cord of the anthem begins to play, we hear on another microphone… “Stop the music you maggot.” The crowd explodes as Sgt. Slaughter rushes towards the ring. The crowd explodes with pure jubilation. A savior has appeared on Independence Day! Adnan orders Killer Khan to attack the intruder and Khan obliges. The problem for Khan was that to Sarge, this was WAR. He came in, army helmet in hand… WHAM… he clobbers Khan with this heavy head gear and down goes the Mongolian beast. Sarge takes out the whip and is laying into Khan. Slaughter now sees Adnan coming into the ring. WHAM…. Cannon Clothesline by Slaughter…. The Arabian headdress goes flying as Sheik Adnan almost flips in the air as he is nearly decapitated. Slaughter goes to Pvt. Daniels, helps him to his feet and grabs the giant American flag that Daniels had brought to the ring. Sgt. Slaughter: Play Our National Anthem! The Star-Spangled Banner begins to blare through the speakers at the Bay Center. The crowd goes wild as Slaughter salutes Daniels and the two American heroes walk out together to a standing ovation! SOUTHEASTERN TITLE MATCH: TITLE & CONTRACT ON A POLE Wendell “Wild Cat” Cooley vs “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel with Ronnie P. Gossett We see the title and a piece a paper on top of a 15-foot pole in one of the corners. This one has the fans on the edge of their seats. Not only is it for the title but someone is going to be leaving CCW. Give the devil his due, “The Nature Boy” can really do it all in the ring and after a rake to the eyes, he shows off that technical ability and has Cooley struggling. We get a lot of momentum changes early with some good chain wrestling and a few poor attempts at climbing the pole for the title and contract. Business picks up when Cooley blocked a right hand by Landel as he refused to break cleanly from the corner. The champ has had enough and is more than willing to mix it up. This is where RPG gets a little nervous and throws Landel some sort of elbow pad to Landel. Landel puts it on without the ref noticing. Landel whips Cooley to the ropes and catches him with a knee to the gut. WHAM… Landel drags Cooley to his knees and drops a “loaded” elbow to the neck of Cooley and he goes down hard. Landel starts to strut around the ring. The title is within his grasp. Landel off the ropes, he soars high in the air. Gordon Solie: Landel going for his patented Corkscrew Elbow Drop! He is high in the air! Cooley moves out of the way at the last second. Landel lands hard on the loaded elbow pad and he seems to have injured himself. Gossett is on the apron. WHAM… Huge right hand by Cooley and Gossett goes flying. Landel is up but holding that elbow. He comes at Cooley but gives a weak left-handed punch. Cooley easily blocks it and connects with a huge right hand of his own. Landel tries to pop up like it didn’t hurt but he fell right back on his face. Cooley scoops him up, walks around the ring with the Nature Boy… Wham…. Oklahoma Stampede! Cooley to the corner. He climbs to the top rope. 10 Feet to the title. He starts climbing. Landel is up but it is too late. With a burst of energy, Cooley yanks himself up the pole and grabs the title and contract. Gordon Solie: Oh, the look on the face of Ronnie Gossett is priceless. The over-confident Nature Boy has lost and will be looking for employment someplace else. Can’t say I am truly heartbroken that the Great American Bash has started off poorly for Mr. Gossett. And I do use the term Mr. lightly. LOSER WEAR A DRESS MATCH Jimmy Garvin with Precious vs Lanny Poffo with Woman No sense getting to involved here. We all know the hatred these two have for each other. Poffo comes out the same arrogant, hateable way while Garvin comes out in his same arrogant loveable way. Say what ever you like about the gimmick these two have going, they are both really good in the ring and with all the bumping, selling and willingness to work with each other, these two put on a really good show. We get a good mix of technical skill with some underhanded tactics by both men. Each time we see one of them try to put the dress on the other, we get a momentum changer as neither wants to leave here in lady’s clothing. In Poffo’s case, Woman interferes when ever things look bleak to give her man a chance to recover. That is until Garvin hoists Poffo up high, walks to the center of the ring, and plants him right on his head with a devastating Brainbuster! Garvin retrieves the dress. It is over the head. Woman climbs up on the apron. WHAM! Precious grabs the legs of Woman and pulls her off the apron. Her head hits the ring as she falls toward the arena floor and Precious is all over her like a hell cat! With the dress already over the head, Garvin props Poffo up to a seated position and puts one arm through the hole and then the other. The dress is on, and the match is OVER but the humiliation of Poffo is not done. Precious leaves a fallen Woman and regains her purse. She opens it up, pulls something out and tosses it to Gorgeous Jimmy. ITS LIPSTICK! Garvin with the coup de gras, bends over and puts bright red lipstick all over the lips and face of Lanny Poffo and then Garvin and Precious walk out to a huge ovation! MASK VS CONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH “Dirty” Dick Slater © vs Mr. Olympia This match starts out with two former allies throwing caution to the wind and going right to the brawling tactics. The fans are split on who they are rooting for, but they are loving the action. This style seems to favor Slater, but Olympia is holding his own. Gordon Solie: Oh no! What are you doing here? Ronnie Gossett: I have come to save the people from hearing you slurring your words. Gordon Solie: Shouldn’t you be helping Buddy Landel pack his bags that is if you can stop sobbing as you know you lost one of your meal tickets. We all know how much you love a Big Meal! RPG: Watch it Solie and don’t you worry about The Nature Boy. He has already signed a new wrestling contract and NWA fans; you will have the pleasure of seeing the most talented man in professional wrestling every Saturday on the Superstation! Bill Watts knows talent when he sees it and Buddy will be just down the road in Mid-South Wrestling! And if you really want to know, yes Bill Watts did throw a few dinners at some high-priced restaurants my way for helping him sign the Nature Boy! Gordon Solie: So that explains it. Now why are you out here at this moment. RPG: Just watching my new wrestler. I mean as soon as everybody in the back knew that Buddy was no longer with me, they wanted to know if my services where available. Gordon Solie: Are you saying that you have signed one of the two men in the ring right now. RPG: I have signed the one who will be leaving with the Continental Title. Gordon Solie: Enough of your cryptic talk Sir. Who have you signed? RPG: Have another drink. Sit back and you will find out soon. Gossett walks to the ring but says nothing to either wrestler. As the action in the ring continues, Slater whips Mr. Olympia towards the ropes but he slams into ref Mac Murray and down goes Murray. Gossett is now up on the apron. WHAM… Slater with a big right hand and down goes Olympia. Ronnie is in the ring and hugs Slater as the boos rain down on the champ. His fans can’t believe that he is with Ronnie P. Gossett pulls out a pair of brass knucks and puts them on. Slater drags Mr. Olympia over towards the corner while Gossett tries to climb the ropes. He can only get to the middle rope and is holding on for balance. Slater is holding Olympia’s legs as Ronnie P. is getting set to come off the ropes with a brass knucks blow! WHAM…. Ronnie P. connected right to the back of the head, but it was the head of Dirty Dick Slater!!! Mr. Olympia drags a knocked-out Slater to the center of the ring and covers him while Gossett goes and helps the ref. Mac Murray sees the pin attempt and slowly begins to make the 3 count! 1…2…3! Gordon Solie: What has just happened? It seems like Slater has been double crossed by Ronnie Gossett. Mr. Olympia is your NEW Continental champion! CONTINENTAL TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH Tommy & Johnny Rich © vs Bob & Brad Armstrong Both teams come out to nice ovations, but the biggest ovation of this match was for Peggy Rich, Wildfire’s mother, who is responsible for bringing Tommy and Cousin Johnny back to the side of good. This match starts with a handshake from Bob and Tommy as they start off this title match. The crowd is more in favor of Bob and Brad as this is of course Alabama, but the Rich cousins are not far behind in the love factor. We get about 12 minutes of technical wrestling where Brad is the star. All 4 men are doing a nice job of selling for each other and while this is not your typical Continental Match, the crowd is really enjoying it. Wildfire, who has been on the bottom for a while gets a little frustrated and goes to pop Brad with a right hand in the corner. This draws the ire of both Brad and Peggy. Peggy is fuming at her son and comes to ringside and demands that he tag out. Johnny is in and the technical match continues with Peggy berating her son. When the “yelling” is over, Tommy tags back in for more technical stuff. A few more tags by both sides and we end up with Brad following Wildfire to the ropes as he is trying to roll up Wildfire for the pin. WHAM… without the ref or Bob Armstrong noticing, Peggy, clobbers Brad with her “old lady’s purse” and Brad goes down. Wildfire on top…. 1…2…3! The crowd is booing like crazy as Peggy celebrates with her boys and the trio makes hasty retreat as the crowd begins to throw debris at them. Brad and Bob are stunned in the ring. Gordon Solie: Well… I don’t know what to say. I really thought Tommy and Johnny had seen the light but now we find out that the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree. Peggy might be the most-rotten Rich of them all! Tommy “Wildfire” Rich and Johhny Rich are still the Continental Tag Team Champions! NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH Ted Dibiase & Dr. Death © vs The Tennessee Studd Stable (Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden) with Ronnie P. The NWA Tag Title picture has been cleared up after last night’s win by Dibiase and Dr. Death at the first night of the Bash in Denver. You might think the hard match against the Funks and Zaibatsu, plus the travel would have taken its toll on the champs but it seems getting their titles back has only served to energize them for tonight. They come out like a house a fire and there seems to be nothing that can stop them. Nothing except Ronnie P.! Lucky for the champs that Dick Slater has not left the building yet and he is still white hot with rage at Ronnie. About 5 minutes into this match, the crowd explodes as Slater sprints toward the ring and RPG! Gossett sees this and his mouth drops wide open, and his eyes are as wide as the Grand Canyon. There is nowhere to run! Slater is slamming RPG from one steel girder to another. WHAM… Slater rams RPG into the ring post and he is a bloody mess. All this action outside the ring just seems to fire up the champs even more in the ring. The end comes after a Dr. Death powerslam on Golden for a clean win over the Studd Stable. NWA WORLD TITLE MATCH Magnum T.A. © vs The Masked Superstar Before the match, Gordon cannot help but hype up the match last night in Denver between Magnum and Jumbo Tsuruta and he even goes so far as to say that Magnum was lucky to survive that bout and wonders if he has anything left in the tank. The nearly 300-pound Masked Superstar comes to the ring first and he is accompanied by the other near 300-pound Masked Superstar #2. While the crowd is all over the Superstar, he ignores them and is all business. T.A. comes out to a huge ovation but he also seems laser-focused and avoids many of his usually high-fiving with the fans. We found out this match is going to be all about the power moves and who can counter them best. The Superstar gets the first advantage as he blocks an early belly to belly attempt by the champ as he dropped T.A. on his shoulder for a nasty jawbreaker-like move. Back and forth we go, Superstar using his weight to simple lean on the champ to wear him down while T.A. keeps searching for a way to connect until finally…. WHAM… T.A., after an Irish Whip connects with the Belly to Belly. The problem was that Masked Superstar #2 dragged out Superstar #1 and gave his partner time to recover. The ref complained but did little else but complain. We see the two Superstars conversing before #1 come back in. Magnum grabs him and musters up enough strength to slam the Superstar who is in a real bad way. The crowd gets on him as he rolls out of the ring looking for another breather. The camera picks up the old switch-a-roo as Superstar #2 enters the ring. T.A. not knowing it, thinks he has The Masked Superstar right where he wants him. WHAM… Big blow by Superstar #2 and it is like a brand-new match has just begun accepting that it is a fresh #2 vs a worn out T.A. We get another 12-15 minutes like we did in the beginning with each man searching for that big move. We get a copy of the beginning where eventually The Superstar is hit with the belly to back only to have #1 drag out #2 and we get another switch of the Masked Men! Finally, at about the 50-minute mark, the action spills outside. T.A. body slams #1 on the cement floor and then grabs #2 and rams his head into the ring post. T.A., as quickly as someone who is exhausted can, throws Superstar #1 back into the ring. Irish Whip…Belly to Belly…. 1…2…3! Gordon Solie: Magnum T.A. has survived. Folks that was basically a handicap match and Magnum T.A. might be the only wrestle in the world who could have beaten both Masked Superstars on the same night. The real question though is whether Magnum T.A. has anything left in the tank for his match tomorrow night against the “Russian Nightmare” Nikita Koloff. For those lucky enough to be in New Orleans tomorrow night, make sure to head down to the Superdome. For those of you night in the Crescent City, get there! This will be one for the ages. So long from the Sunshine State. I hope you enjoyed your Independence Day!
  13. WrestleRock is the biggest event since you took over the AWA and it doesn't disapoint! Great job with this event in what might just be the biggest day in Dawn of War yet! Great way to hype up the card even more with Dream Machine coming out. AWA worked so closely with Memphis that he would be known throughout the territory. I think everyone knew that this is WrestleRock and Not BattenRock and that they were in a little over their heads with the Fab Ones. This match rocketed the Fab Ones back towards the top of a very crowded tag division... can't wait to see how far they rise. Nice job with the Loser Leave Town Match. I think the biggest thing here was you bringing Ox in as a manager...awesome personality and perfect for Dawn of War. Casey with Sunshine gets a nice win but the highlight of the segment was Johnny V with Billy Joe Travis.... some bad music at WrestleRock makes you a heel from the start! Not to mention the Guitar shot on Cash.... WOW... I bet Travis pays for this somewhere down the road. Priceless over Bruise Brothers .... Hope we see more of this or maybe not.... Cash vs Travis is interesting also. You have a few choices here and I can't wait to see where you go. You have to pay Colon extra. He is the AWA's man anytime we want a bloody, wild feud. Beast of Burden vs Cabin Fever followed by Rage in the Cage.... this is not your Father's Awa.... this is a precursor to ECW.... Love the violence here. Rage in the Cage might just be the best and most creative match we have had in Dawn of War in the 30 months of this game. AWESOME!!! Wow, Dream Machine's stock price rose quick tonight!! Verne looking down at Greg and shaking his head might be the most interesting moment of the night.... What comes next is very interesting. Great way out of the Bock-Wahoo match. It was a classic and both men are still strong as ever. Canek vs Haystacks was one that I have been looking forward to. Canel is someone that many people are not so familiar with but he is Big Time. Glad you had him win this won and I can't wait to see what is next. Here comes Eartquake Ferris. I need to do a little research here. I like when we use some of the lesser known guys. Nice use of the Vin Man... who seems to keep finding trouble. Idol vs Rocky was a nice culmination to a great feud!! Idol will be great on the mic after this win. I always thought that we would eventually get the Fab Ones vs The RnR Express.... just had no idea that it would be tonight! I wonder if this is good for Hennig and Adias or bad. It helped them through WrestleRock but now they got two top teams in line for a title shot. Steamboat vs St. Clair.... Instant classic. Not as familiar with St. Clair as I should be but this match seemed to rival Steamboat-Flair. Let's get ready for some music!!!! AWESOME JOB THAT TOOK A HUGE EFFORT.... THANKS!
  14. Great first night of the American Bash! Great touches by adding in the quite by Truman and the song by James Brown. Really good use of Cappetta throughout the show! Nice idea you had. The World Tag tourny was well done as all teams get a win which keeps everyone strong. Dibiase and Doc love getting the actually titles back in their hands. Sommers coming to the ring with Embry was a nice idea. A heel vs heel match is sometimes hard to do but you showed that their are levels to heels and I agree with you that Embry out heels Regal. Nice use of Chicky Starr.... we not only got a new champion in Whatley but we got another feud starting.... JJ vs Starr. Kendell vs Smirnoff was so well written. The vivid desrcriptions of the use of the chain was great. Also, in my mind, when a big card like the Bash can give you an end to some feuds, a beginning to new feuds and a continuation of other feuds, it has done its job. This match has all 3. Windham goes over Smirnoff but his feud with Akbar contiues.... but who will it be against. Awesome Match.... I think that it might be my favorite of the card. Nice job having the Womens Title Match and the way you did it makes is so relevant to our game and helps solidify Scarlet's hard work. Thanks! I loved your cage match... the little hole for the camera was a nice touch and I just figured Sullivan would use this to his advantage. WOW... THAT MAIN EVENT WAS GREAT! Not sure Magnum can survuve 2 more nights of this. Lucky DIbiase and Doc had not left yet to hit the bars and celebrate getting the belts back.
  15. Great opening card. Fritz is going to have to work hard to win over the Tennessee crowd. His Texas rep may make him a hated commish which could be fun also.
  16. So well done! Thanks for all your hard work! Looking forward to the Bash
  17. Mistake.
  18. Awesome job! Thanks for doing this.
  19. Great shows on this week's loop. That main event would have been aweseom to see.
  20. Great job keeping everyone up to date and hyping up your card at the Bash! Looking forward to this event.
  21. Welcome to the game! You really should watch it. I am always amazed at how well it captured the southern, mountain feeling and they put on a quality project with a roster of like 12 people!

  23. Exciting week coming up for the NWA and a great way to kick it off with more good news about the NWA Womens Title Match Good use of the TV show to hype up the big event. You have outdone yourself this week with some of your jobber names! Eustis reminded me of that TV show on the history channel, Mountain Men. I think you did a great job with the big show at the Sports Arena. You gave the crowd an exciting card without pushing any of your angles any further before the bash! Battle Royals are always big ticket sellers and can be used either to not give to much away or to push or start other angles. Good use of the roster here!
  24. Good job reminding us all of the great feuds you got going! 15 Matches... WOW! The crowd is going to love this. July 4th weekend is going to be one of the best in the game so far!
  25. CCW adds Jos Ledic, Mark Fleming and Randy Barber
