I'm having fun catching up on USWA.....I've always enjoyed Johnny V and you've captured him well during his tenure with your promotions. The Grapplers have long been a favorite team of mine and I'm enjoying their feud with Idol and Graham for the titles. Kerry gets a big win over Ayala but Herc keeps his heat after the match....good. stuff Looking forward to Lawler vs. Adonis!

I'm still getting these notifications so i figured I would chime in on this one.....my understanding was that one was the actual Kabuki and the other was the Magic Dragon ( who according to Gary Hart in shoot interviews often work as Kabuki on the "b-town" house shows for World Class....not sure which is which though.

CCW has the Sheepherders (Luke Williams/Butch Miller) on the block

Wrestlestorm gets bigger each and every week! Hennig vs. Blanchard is an amazing match up even if was a cold match but with all the build up and heat this match has going on this one should steal the show! Jumbo vs. Martel could potentially be a show stealer as well! Looking forward to this one as well! I can't imagine who Lawler has in mind for his mystery partner to be so confident in a handicap match as Blehschmidt mentioned...I have a couple of ideas...it will be fun to see it play out. Of course Buddy Landell has no shortage of confidence going into his World title match with Ted Dibiase and still talking smack at Flair lol

Cornette's explanation for the Brass Knucks is priceless....such good stuff. Can a steel cage and Superfly Snuka finally negate the antics of Cornette and get the Islanders a fair shot at the titles? This has been a compelling story so far and I'm interested to see how things play out! Going to be interesting to see what Bock will have up his sleeve to try and survive Brody at Starrcade! I'm loving the twists and turns of the Chris Adams/Kevin Von Erich angle! The Spoiler is an even bigger threat with Gary Hart in his corner but Kerry Von Erich will be a stiff challenge for his newly won Central States title!

Continental Championship Wrestling Civic Auditorium Pensacola, FL. Saturday November 2, 1984 Bell Time: 8pm "Flamboyant" Eric Embry w/Percy Pringle pinned "Exotic" Adrian Street w/Ms. Linda after hitting him with a chain while Pringle distracted the referee The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) defeated Bobby/Donnie Bass when Wayne pinned Bobby after a leg drop off the top rope King Kong Bundy w/Percy Pringle pinned Steve Olsonoski for a five count after the 'Avalanche' in the corner followed by a 'big splash'……Pringle cut a promo after the match calling Mr. Olympia a coward for not being here to face Bundy tonight "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley pinned Ox Baker with cross body block…..after the match Baker jumped Cooley and gave him a heart punch resulting in Cooley having to be carried out of the ring Tag Team Strap Match The Bruthahood (Brickhouse Brown/Koko Ware) defeated Pork Chop Cash/Tracy Smothers when Norvell Austin interfered "Tennessee Stud" Ron Fuller comes out and says that he admits the 'Stud Stable' completely fell apart recently but that's just fine because he has found the greatest entertainer in the world today and he is going to make the Stud a million dollars in both the wrestling and the music business…..he tells everyone to "put your hands together and welcome the greatest wrestler and all around entertainer in the world today…..The Honky Tonk Man!! (Recent AWA Southwestern Champion 'Honky Tonk Man' Wayne Ferris makes his way down the aisle with a guitar wearing an Elvis style jumpsuit to the tune of an instrumental version of 'Blue Suede Shoes', he enters the ring and takes the microphone) HTM: "Thank ya big Ron, thank ya very much. You guys are a beautiful audience, it's good to be here in Panama City tonight (Crowd boos him saying the wrong town) Now I know you people would love to see me sing and dance and I'd love to do that for ya but I'm afraid this cheap promoter hasn't agreed to our going to perform so you're going to have to settle for just getting see me. Next time I come here, not only will I sing and dance but I'll show you the greatest professional wrestling of this generation or any other when I get in this ring and give somebody the wrestling lesson of a lifetime. Again, you've been a wonderful audience…..I'm gonna turn it back over to big Ron…..the Tennessee Stud himself!" (HTM leaves while gyrating up the aisle) Fuller: "There you have it…..the greatest entertainer in the world today….and you better get ready to see this main beating your favorite wrestlers in this very ring……soon….very soon! Thank you all and good night!" (Fuller heads back up the aisle as the crowd seems confused at what they've just witnessed) AWA National Tag Team Championship The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Arn/Ole Anderson) fought the Sheepherders (Butch Miller/Luke Williams) to a double count out….. SEMI-MAIN EVENT Special Challenge Match "Nature Boy" Ric Flair wrestled The Magnificent Muraco w/Mr. Fuji to a 30 minute time limit draw MAIN EVENT NO DQ GRUDGE MATCH Brad Armstrong/Ronnie Garvin defeated Terry Funk/Abdullah the Butcher when Armstrong pinned Funk with a small package while Garvin and Butcher brawled out into the crowd -

AWA Continental Championship Wrestling Television WTBS Studios Atlanta, Georgia Taped at 10am/Airing at 6:05pm eastern on Saturday November 2, 1984 on nationwide Superstation WTBS and at various times on other television outlets across Alabama/Mississippi/Georgia/East Tennessee/North Florida Host: Gordon Solie Color Commentary: Charlie Platt Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart Interviewer: Joe Pedicino AWA Continental Commissioner: Les Thatcher (Opening montage rolls and we go to our hosts Gordon Solie and Charlie Platt) Solie: "Hello and welcome once again to Continental Championship Wrestling, I'm Gordon Solie along with Charlie Platt and Charlie….we've got a bit of a good news/bad news scenario here tonight." Platt: "That's right Gordon…..on the bad news side the show is going to be shorter than usual tonight due to a special TBS Sports presentation coming up immediately following CCW tonight however, Jim Barnett informed us just before we went on the air that we are going to have a special guest joining us tonight before we go off the air and he says this guy is going to quote, 'blow the roof off the TBS studios'…" Solie: "Well that's certainly exciting and I can't wait to see who this person is that could blow the roof off the place….we'll also be seeing the National Tag Team Champions the Andersons in action….Adrian Street fresh off his victory over Al Madril will defend the Television Championship and we'll be seeing one half of the Continental Tag Team Champions in action, that being Tommy Rogers of the Fantastics." Platt: "That's correct, Gordon. I think we need to mention the reason that Tommy Rogers will be in singles action is because his partner Bobby Fulton was seriously injured last night in Biloxi, Mississippi in a brutal barbed wire match against The Sheepherders." Solie: "That's the thing about signing on for these dangerous matches like a barbed wire match….the odds of sustaining a serious injury is high and when you’re a champion like Bobby Fulton, it's a risky prospect as now if he's not able to get back before the 30 days is up, they could have to forfeit those Continental Tag Team titles." (The Andersons come out and interupt) Ole: "Gordon, I know we have a match coming up but I just wanted to say that no one is more disappointed than the Andersons that Fulton got injured because we were looking forward to taking those Continental Tag Titles from the Fantastics." Solie: "Well, there was a match scheduled for tonight in Pensacola where the National Tag Team titles were going to be on the line since the Fantastics managed to defeat you and Arn last weekend in the #1 Contender's Match for the World tag team titles, but before we discuss that….let's talk about what happened last weekend between you two and your manager, Paul Ellering." Arn: "You mean our FORMER manager Paul Ellering. Ellering was such a screw up that he not only caused us to lose he caused our good friend Harley Race to lose and Race was so humiliated by the loss that he's left the company…..he didn't even want to show his face here today…..so we handled the situation and now Paul Ellering can go back to managing muscle headed gym rats like he's used to managing in the past." Ole: "Enough about that loser, let's go back to something you said before…..the only reason the Fantastics managed to steal a win over us was because of that idiot Ellering, otherwise we would have destroyed the Fantastics…..AND the Movement." (Tommy Rogers comes out) Rogers: "Now wait just a minute here…..Ellering had nothing to do with your loss to us….we straight up beat you two….and when Bobby heals up, we'll be glad to do it again." Ole: "Is that a fact? Well it just shows what a goof your so called partner is that he would agree to wrestle those stupid Sheepherders in a match with barbed wire around the ring! The Andersons are wrestlers, we can beat anybody in the world inside of a wrestling ring and we don't need barbed wire or anything else to get it done! Now I suggest you take your self back to the dressing room and look at a monitor and see an example of what awaits you the next time you face the Minnesota Wrecking Crew." Rogers: "Well I suggest you find a video of our match from last Saturday night and see what will happen AGAIN when you two face the Fantastics!" ========================== MATCH #1: The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Arn/Ole Anderson) defeated Buck Jones/Frank Reynolds when Arn pinned Jones after a 'Gourd Buster' ========================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ========================== (Joe Pedicino is joined by Percy Pringle and Eric Embry) Joe: "I'm joined by a man who made his presence felt last weekend as he helped King Kong Bundy defeat the One Man Gang…." (Before Joe can finish the sentence, Pringle cuts him off) Pringle: "I have to stop you right there….I did not help King Kong Bundy do anything, I simply came down to get a closer look and watched Bundy win…I didn't help. Now….as for a proper introduction, My name is Percival Pringle the third…but my friends call me Percy..so Pedicino you can call me…..Mr. Pringle." Joe: "Very well…Mr. Pringle, obviously you are the manager of King Kong Bundy, but you also manage this man…Eric Embry." Pringle: "That's 'Flamboyant' Eric Embry! He's not only the best wrestler in the world but also the most outrageous and flamboyant wrestler in the AWA." Embry: "That's right baby, 'Flamboyant' Eric Embry is here to take all the belts and show everybody that I'm the most colorful and talented wrestler you've ever seen." (Suddenly, "Imagine what I could do to you" plays over the studio P.A. and out comes Adrian Street) Pringle: "Can we help you?" Street: (looks them both up and down) "Well for starters I guess YOU could help me remember to eat my vegetables, tubby." Pringle: "Vegetables….I figured you preferred fruit." Street: "Oh…a cheeky one, eh? That's humorous but let's get to why I came out here. No one is more flamboyant or outrageous than me….least of all this guy….it's takes more than bleaching your hair and prancing around to be flamboyant." Embry: "Ok tough guy…..I just said I'm looking for titles….I see you have a belt….how about you give me a shot at that title and I'll show you what I'm all about." Street: "Well I can already see what you're all about which isn't much….but if you want a shot at my Television title…..I'll be more than happy to tie you in knots and show YOU what I'm all about….right here….and how about….right now!" (Street skips off to the ring) Pringle: "Wait…NOW? We haven't prepared for this…how about next week?" Embry: "Don't worry Percy….I've got this!" (Embry awkwardly skips to the ring trying to copy Street) ======================== MATCH #2: AWA Continental Television Championship "Exotic" Adrian Street w/Ms. Linda vs. "Flamboyant" Eric Embry w/Percy Pringle Street is waiting in the ring as Embry saunters in…..the bell rings…Street charges across the ring and kisses Embry right on the lips…Embry is stunned, as Street hooks him into a small package for the 1-2-3….in just under 10 seconds for the win!! Street rolls out of the ring and skips away as Embry is in the ring gagging and feigning puking…as Pringle throws a tantrum! ========================= COMMERCIAL AIRS FOR STARRCADE '84 on TBS on Thanksgiving day! ========================= (Terry Funk joins Gordon Solie) Funk: "Solie, what the hell do you have going on out here??" Solie: "Things certainly got out of hand that's for sure but speaking of things getting out of hand, let's talk about what happened at the Clash of the Champions when you faced Brad Armstrong in a steel cage and right as we were going off the air, Abdullah the Butcher cut the chain and entered the cage on your behalf and attacked Brad Armstrong." Funk: "On my behalf? You assume I asked him to do that? You assume I'm friends with Abdullah the Butcher? Do you think I went to the Sudan or wherever the hell it is he's from and asked him to help me with the Armstrongs? That's crazy. I can't help that most people hate the Armstrongs and pick random opportunities to attack them." Solie: "So that's how we're going to play this?" Funk: "Gordon, I'm not playing anything. Abdullah the Butcher took it upon himself to do that….had nothing to do with me I can assure you." Solie: "How do you explain the fact that you teamed with him in Biloxi last night and will be teaming with him again tonight in Pensacola?" Funk: "So I'm the matchmaker now? You're implying I'm booking the cards for Continental now? I'm the damn champion…..not the promoter. Talk to Jim Barnett or Les Thatcher or whoever the hell runs this joint….I just show up and wrestle, I don't have anything to do with the matches here Gordon." Solie: "Ok Terry….well I'll let you go so we can get on to our next match." Funk: "Hold on now Gordon….don't go trying to get rid of me just yet…I'd like to share some good news….I hear that it's official that Bob Armstrong is so crippled up after that number that Fuller and Golden did on him that his career is likely over for good…..(Funk steps off camera for a moment and then comes back with a bottle of champagne and two glasses) So here we go Gordon, let's a have a toast to celebrate the end of the miserable career of Bob Armstrong." Solie: "I'm not going to drink to that Terry." Funk: "Come on Gordon, you'll drink to anything. Not like you haven't already had a few today." (Funk turns up the bottle and takes a big swig) Good riddance to you 'Bullet Bob', look at this way Gordon, at least he'll get great parking spots." Solie: "Ok, that's enough….let's go to the ring." ============================ MATCH #3: "Fantastic" Tommy Rogers vs. Bobby Bass About a minute into the match, the Andersons hit the ring and attacked Tommy Rogers……they put the boots to him….then picked him up and Arn held him in place as Ole came off the top rope driving the knee into the shoulder of Rogers…..finally a few undercard babyfaces hit the ring causing the Andersons to flee. ============================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ============================= (As we return from the commercial Les Thatcher joins Solie and Platt) Les: "Guys, it's been decided since the Fantastics are injured and can't compete tonight….and since the Sheepherders were the ones who beat them last night…..the only logical thing to do is give the Sheepherders the National tag team title shot against the Andersons." Platt: "Wait, your saying that tonight in Pensacola, it's going to be the Minnesota Wrecking Crew vs. The Sheepherder for the National Tag Team Titles???" Les: "That's correct!" Solie: "That's is going to be a barn burner…..if you haven't gotten your tickets for that event, there's still time….now let's go back to the ring!" =============================== MATCH #4: Magnificent Muraco w/Mr. Fuji pinned Randy Watson with the inverted piledriver As they leave ringside, Muraco stops and tells Charlie Platt…"I'm coming for gold, Charlie…I will NOT be denied!" ============================== (cut to Gordon Solie) Solie: "I understand it's time for our surprise guest so without further adieu, let's find out who it's going to be…" (The crowd goes wild as out walks……"Nature Boy" Ric Flair!) Solie: "WOW! You've got to be kidding me….the one and only 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair is here on TBS!" (Flair shakes Gordon's hand before letting out a 'WOOOOOOO!') Flair: "Gordon Solie….you just said a mouthful! The ONE and ONLY 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair and speaking of…..where oh where is Buddy Landel?? Huh?? Where is the bootleg Nature Boy? While I was up there killing myself for Stu Hart defending his title in places like Moose Knuckle, Saskatchewan…I had people calling me week in and week out telling me how this cheap knock off…this Memphis jabroni is down here calling me out? Down here knocking the Nature Boy? Having the audacity to call himself 'Mr. AWA'? Buddy Landel, I know you'll see this so you listen….and you listen good!! Ric Flair being on TBS right now even saying your name…..even acknowledging you exist is the biggest thing to ever happen to you in your career. You get that, pal?? You aren't worthy of saying my name, much less stealing my name and trying to pass yourself off as a Ric Flair knockoff. So consider this your fifteen minutes of fame where Ric Flair acknowledges your existence but you better realize this my friend….you haven't woke up to see the day that you're worthy of lacing my boots…..you got that?? I was winning World titles when you were a brown haired preliminary guy getting beat by anybody with a pulse…so you better know this….if you are ever stupid enough to show your face here again….you will regret the day you ever had the gall to compare yourself to Ric Flair. I get it you’re a fan of mine…..and on some level I can appreciate that….but understand this Landel, I'm a fan of Muhammad Ali…it doesn't mean I'm going to pretend I'm him in a boxing ring so I suggest you stay in TNT and don't cross my path because if you do…..you are going to find out exactly…..WHAT'S CAUSIN' ALL THIS!! WOOOO!" (Don Muraco strolls out with Mr. Fuji) Muraco: "Well well well….the great Ric Flair is here in Continental. You know Ric, I've been telling everybody that will listen that I was coming back down here to Continental to seize opportunities and seeing the almighty 'Nature Boy' here….I can't help but see this as an opportunity…..I know if I get you in the ring and get a win over you….not only would that get me a shot at titles here in Continental, that would put me in line for a shot at Dibiase….so how about it Naitch….why don't you take on the Magnificent one tonight in Pensacola?" Flair: "Donnie, I appreciate what your trying to do here…..and you're right, if you could beat me…which would never happen…but if it somehow did….yes, you could write your own ticket around here but I just got here, fresh off a plane from Canada….I'm not booked on any cards yet…especially not tonight…I've got dinner plans here in Atlanta so maybe some other time, ok." Muraco: "Ohhh I see. You just showed up here to ACT like a big shot and call out some guy you knew damn well wasn't here, is that it? You talk real big….but the truth of the matter is maybe Landel is more like you than you realize, you're both all a bunch of hype….just a couple of motor mouths who get the limber tail when a real man like me calls them out." Flair: (laughing) "Nice try Muraco, I've been around too long for you to get in my head with that kinda crap…..I'm sure down the line we'll step in the ring together but it won't be tonight." (Fuji gets in Flair's face) Fuji: "Ric Flair….you are coward….you have no honor, you are a disgrace…that's why Paul Orndorff ran you out of Canada.." (Before Fuji could finish Flair punched him in the face knocking him to the ground….Muraco throws a wild right hand that Flair blocks and then drills him with one of his own, Muraco recovers and leg dives Flair and they roll around on the studio floor throwing punches) Solie: "This has gone horribly wrong, we've got to take our last commercial break as we try to get order restored…..we'll be right back!" ====================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ====================== (We return from break as a Flair is red faced and disheveled) Flair: "MURACO!! You want your brush with greatness…..is that what you want Mr. Beach Bum?? Well pal, you've got it! I'm gonna charter a jet to Pensacola tonight and whether they wanna sign the match or not….I will walk down to that ring and we can wrestle…..we can fight…whatever you wanna do but you're going to find out that the Nature Boy is nobodies stepping stone….and you'll also learn what so many others before you have….it's a lot easier to jump on….than it is to jump off! It's like I always say Muraco…..to be the man, you gotta beat the man….and Donnie Boy…..You ain't man enough….to beat the man!! WOOOOOOOOO!!!!" Solie: "So long from Hotlanta!" © 1984 AWA Continental Championship Wrestling -

Continental Championship Wrestling Gulf Coast Convention Center Biloxi, MS Friday November 1, 1984 Bell Time- 8pm Bugsy McGraw pinned "Cowboy" Don Bass after a running elbow drop Ox Baker/Baron Von Raschke defeated Pat/Randy Rose when Baker pinned Pat after 'heart punch' "Flamboyant" Eric Embry w/Percy Pringle pinned "Action" Mike Jackson with a small package Four Corners Match NWA National Tag Team Titles The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Arn/Ole Anderson) retained over The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne)/The Bruthahood (Brickhouse Brown/Koko Ware)/Porkchop Cash & Tracy Smothers "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley pinned Norvell Austin with a school boy roll up Grudge Tag Team Match Brad Armstrong/Ronnie Garvin defeated Terry Funk/Abdullah the Butcher by DQ when Abby was disqualified for pulling out a fork and using it on Garvin AWA Southeastern Championship The Magnificent Muraco w/Mr. Fuji defeated Mr. Olympia by count out when he was attacked at ringside by King Kong Bundy while Percy Pringle distracted the referee…..Fuji and Muraco were livid over the interference but Pringle and Bundy managed to leave ringside without incident with them Unsanctioned Barbed Wire Match The Sheepherders (Butch Miller/Luke Williams) defeated The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton/Tommy Rogers) when the match was abruptly stopped due to Bobby Fulton suffering a severe cut to his bicep from the barbed wire….fans at the event said it was clearly not the intended ending as the referee quickly called for the bell and a medic ran in and began trying to bandage Fulton's arm as the Sheepherders worked over Tommy Rogers to seemingly buy time -
Great show as we build towards Wrestle Storm that is still nearly a month away but already is well built and a must see show! What a perfect way to debut Prichard! Instant feud with Johnny V and company and instant connection with the fans as a babyface...perfectly executed! I love it! Mr. Wrestling 2 has his protege ready to take on the world....which is what he'll be doing in this battle royal! Great promos building towards the Wrestle Storm matches.....I can hear each one of these guys voice while reading these.....the Blanchard vs the Hennigs feud has been one of my favorite feuds in the game recently! The heel push of SD Jones is one of the things that make this sort of game so much fun....seeing what could have been (and maybe shoulda) been. Jumbo vs. Rick Martel is one I'm really looking forward to at Wrestle Storm as well! Great logical way to bring in Carlos Colon taking on his mortal enemy Ayala! There should be plenty mileage in this feud!
-
Wow! Hacksaw showing up is a game changer for Rocky Moutain! Hacksaw/Slater/Zambooie Express are all perfect for this hard hitting "tough guy" territory and as Spaldoni pointed out it puts that much more heat on a guy like Tatum. Ernie Ladd is not going to crawl in a hole after losing the title.....he'll find a way to get it back.
-
Man! Halloween Star Wars delivered on so many levels...what an exciting show! Cool to see Patera seemingly a babyface at this stage of his career, I look forward to seeing what path he takes! Completly shocked by the Spoiler beating Windham which makes the show all the more exciting and interesting especially considering the aspect of Windham could have won by forfeit but insisting on fighting. I agree that MX vs. Islanders was a great way to hook the tv crowd....Cornette does it again...you have to keep tuning in to see if anyone will ever get the best of him and the Express. My favorite thing about this show is 2 months ago Brian Adias vs. Bockwinkel would have been considered a squash but through the strong booking of Adias since arriving in World Class it was totally plausible that Adias could become the champ...well done. The Chamber of Horrors lived up to the name and raised the bar for violence in the AWA...I honestly could have seen any of them winning but really like the result....Brody is the man in '84 and Studd is on the rise....Schultz is tough as hell and the "Austin" of this era but couldn't have overcome these two monsters in this environment. Awesome show!
-
Warriors are a great choice as champs! Nice win for Magnum over Backlund to hopefully help silence the doubters.
-
Wow! Great win for JYD! He's going to make an awesome champion! Oh...wait....nevermind. Jerry Brisco is good too if he can hold onto it.
-
Wow this is the definition of BIG show! Lars Anderson makes a huge impact in his debut....new tag champs! Johnny Rich is on a roll here, great win over the evil lumberjack! BJM gets sweet revenge on the 'Big Cat' and takes the title....what's next for Ladd? Can't wait to hear what he has to say about this! Quite a send off for the Bulldogs....classy move by the Hart Foundation at the end! Tito wins the Stampede title!! Looking forward to this title reign as this is Tito's prime! The Flair/Heenan relationship crashed and burned quickly.....Orndorff gets the last laugh! Bad News takes out the "bad man from Borger".....he has to be a made man at this point.
-
Wow....as always you've built a solid card with great tv angles to build momentum moving into Wrestle Storm! This is classic Memphis booking here....great reasoning for the Idol turn...while the fans may not like it, you can certainly understand it, which makes them even more invested on the feud! Adonis and Murdoch are my favorite team in the game right now....even though they are all heels, I would love to seem them challenge the Movement sooner rather than later. Landel hasn't missed a beat since debuting here in TNT and I'm excited to see him challenge Dibiase for the title. Blanchard has doubled down on the heat with the Hennigs.....this should be fun!
-
I'm loving Bockwinkel here in World Class....perfect heel explanation for the money case being exchanged.....as mentioned I can hear every word of his promos in his voice just like you Cornette and Watts promos. Good stuff with the Movement looking to recruit Butch Reed, what a get he would be for their "cause" I'm enjoying the Adams/Von Erichs storyline....and have no idea whether or not they can trust Adams...keeping a close eye on this one! Halloween Star Wars is another huge can't miss card....can't wait to see what happens in the Brody/Studd/Schultz match. Great loop of house shows....with the Von Erichs getting a significant win over Kabuki and Khan. Huge 8 man tag with the Samoans scoring a pinfall over the champs....they could have the champ's number the way Watts has stacked the deck but never underestimate Cornette's resourcefulness!

THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE!! ======================================================================================= AWA Continental Championship Wrestling Television WTBS Studios Atlanta, Georgia Taped at 10am/Airing at 6:05pm eastern on Saturday October 26, 1984 on nationwide Superstation WTBS and at various times on other television outlets across Alabama/Mississippi/Georgia/East Tennessee/North Florida Host: Gordon Solie Color Commentary: Charlie Platt Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart Interviewer: Joe Pedicino AWA Continental Commissioner: Les Thatcher (the opening montage rolls and as it finishes up instead of going to Gordon Solie and Charlie Platt….we go directly to the Fiesta Garden with 'the Great' Al Madril and Hercules Hernandez) Madril: "Hola…and welcome back to the most popular show on television and the reason you are all tuned in right now…of course it's the Fiesta Garden! It's been a while but they finally decided it was time to bring the most popular show on tv right here to the Superstation. Now before we get started, I have to introduce the man standing beside me…..my partner in crime…..mi amigo and mi familia the one and only Southeastern Champion, Hercules Hernandez…..say hello Hercules!" Hecules: "Hello Hercules…" Madril: (covers his mouth for a moment) "That still gets me every time, you truly are a national treasure, Herc and the people love you as do I. Now, let's address a couple of things right now….the Stud Stable has fallen apart in recent weeks…..Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden seemed to intentionally get themselves suspended last week helping Terry Funk, Buddy Landel just went AWOL and has been seen on another wrestling show….and the Tennessee Stud, Ron Fuller has been nowhere to be found as of late….but you know what? That's ok. We don't need any of them, right Herc?" Hercules: "That's right, Al!" Madril: "Damn right….Hercules and myself are a stable unto ourselves! Hercules is your reigning and defending Southeastern Champion and after tomorrow night on the Clash of the Champions…I will be your Continental Television Champion…so we don't need those other guys….we've got this on our own." (Adrian Street and Ms. Linda enter the Fiesta Garden) Madril: "Street….I've told you time and time again, the Fiesta Garden is invitation only, you can't just prance out here anytime you want…..besides you're going to get enough of me tomorrow night at the Clash when I take your title!" Street: "Well….if nothing else you're confident Albie, I will give you that….but as I was sitting back there listening to you drone on and on….I couldn't help but think how much better Continental is without all those boys you listed off….the Fullers and Golden and Landel etc…..and I was thinking it would be great if we could add you to that list as well…..so how about we make this match at the Clash tomorrow night a little more interesting…..how about not only the Television title being on the line…..but how about we make it a 'loser leaves town' match as well. What do you say, Sunshine? Do you have the stones to put it all on the line, Albie? Or all you all bark and no bite?" Madril: "First of all Adrian Street…..CCW can't afford to lose me because when they see what the ratings are for this program since they started the show with the beloved Fiesta Garden, I'll be getting offered a lifetime deal with Continental….but if it means I could send you back to San Francisco or 'the backwoods of dean' or wherever you claim to be from…..I'm all for it! Sign it up, girly man." Street: "Well look at you Albie….and hear I thought that cup in your pants was as empty as Hercules skull…..but maybe you do have an ounce of intestinal fortitude..by the way it's the Royal Forrest of Dean and 'll see you at the Omni, Albie….and perhaps when the Fiesta Garden is gone, we can make room for the Bizarre Bazaar, hosted by 'Exotic' Adrian and Ms. Linda!" (Street skips off the set with Ms. Linda following behind) Madril: "Real funny Street….the Fiesta Garden is on TBS to stay and maybe if you're able to get a job somewhere else after I beat you, they'll let you have a freak show of your own. Anyway, that concludes another episode of the Fiesta Garden, I apologize for Adrian Street crashing the show….I had a very famous and sexy lady lined up to be our guest tonight but Street ruined it…..perhaps we'll get her back here next week…..so for Hercules Hernandez, I'm Al Madril saying…..some wrestlers are good….but only Alberto Madril is…..great!" =========================== (We now go to Gordon Solie and Charlie Platt) Solie: "Hello and welcome once again to Continental Championship Wrestling, I'm Gordon Solie along with Charlie Platt and what a way to kick off the show this week." Platt: "Well, no matter how you may feel about Al Madril or Hercules……they make for an entertaining duo." Solie: "No question about it….but we've got a lot to cover today….we'll be in action tonight in Birmingham, Alabama and tomorrow night we'll be back here in Atlanta at the Omni live here on Superstation WTBS for our first ever 'Clash of the Champions' where you'll witness seven title matches right here on television including both the AWA World Heavyweight Title as well as the AWA World Tag Team titles being defended." Platt: "It's going to be an exciting night of action tomorrow night but preceding that we have some great action tonight and right now we're ready to go to the ring with a very angry former AWA National Heavyweight Champion, Harley Race in action." ============================ MATCH #1: Harley Race w/Paul Ellering pinned Mike Jackson after a brutal beating that was brought to an abrupt end by a diving headbutt from the top rope Post Match: Joe Pedicino is joined in the interview area by Paul Ellering, Harley Race, and the Minnesota Wrecking Crew…Arn and Ole Anderson. Joe: "This wasn't exactly a stellar week for the Family." Paul: "I suggest you shut you mouth before the Godfather of Wrestling here shuts it for you." Harley: "Not a stellar week? Is that what you choose to call it, fat man? Ronnie Garvin got lucky, that's all it was….Garvin got lucky and Paul Ellering here didn't do his job! (Ellering looks at the floor) However, we've discussed what went wrong and we're going to make it right tonight in Birmingham…..I'll beat Garvin to regain my National title, and then when I win my title back it's onto the Clash of Champions to regain what's also mine…..the AWA World Heavyweight Championship! Ted Dibase, you are a deserving champion and a future legend in the wrestling business….but you won't make your name at the expense of Harley Race, that I can assure you of, I'm the best wrestler on God's green earth and tomorrow night you will find out first hand along with every person who tunes into to see it here on television." Ole: "That's exactly right, Harley. Harley Race is the hands down best single's wrestler walking this planet…..while the Minnesota Wrecking Crew are the best tag team in the world! Tonight, we'll show these so-called Fantastics why that's a fact and then we'll move onto the Clash of the Champions and we'll show the Movement that they're simply running around the country wearing the Anderson's belts." Arn: "I'll make the this short and sweet…..The Andersons aren't going to be defeated by anyone with a stupid name……The Fantastics are a good team but their name is stupid…..and if you think for one minute we'd allow our shoulders to be pinned by a team with one guy named Tiger and another named, SHASKA……you're dumber than they are…..this weekend the Andersons are going to do what the Andersons do best…..beat people up and win championships….your support is not wanted or needed so tune in if you'd like or don't…either way we go home with the gold and the Movement can move their butts back into the obscurity from which they came." Paul: "It's simple when you think about Joe……but so hard to argue. Good day." Harley: "and eat a salad sometime, Pedicino.." =============================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =============================== MATCH #2: Mr. Olympia pinned Roy Munson following a DDT Post Match: Olympia is approached at ringside by Rick Stewart Rick: "Mr. Olympia, tonight in Birmingham you will face the dangerous Baron Von Raschke in a match where the winner will get a shot the Southeastern Championship tomorrow night here on TBS at the Clash of the Champions, what are your thoughts?" Olympia: "My thoughts? Well my thoughts are simple, do whatever it takes to put that German down for the 1-2-3 so I can get another shot at Hercules Hernandez, I've come real close to beating him a couple of times in the past and I don't care how big and strong he is…..if I hit him with that DDT…the lights go out…and I go home the champion…those are my thoughts." ================================== (VTR- Don Muraco is sitting on the beach in Hawaii with a surf board stuck in the sand next to him) Muraco: "I came to Continental Championship Wrestling with a lot of big plans…..and some major goals to accomplish and somehow It just hasn't come together. That Continental title tournament didn't go my way and for some reason, I just couldn't get my mind right….so I decided to do what I always do when I feel unbalanced….I come back home….here to Sunset Beach, Hawaii and I get on this surfboard and somehow……things come back into focus……and you know what……it's working…I can see my prize right in front of my eyes….I just had to come home and get my mind right….so get ready Continental, I'll be back soon enough….and when I get there….there won't be any stopping me this time……You've been warned….aloha for now." (END VTR) ================================== MATCH #3: Rematch from last week "Wild Eyed Southern Boy" Tracy Smothers/Porkchop Cash defeated Bobby/Donnie Bass when Cash pinned Bobby Bass with a powerslam (Post match: Smothers/Cash join Joe Pedicino in the interview area but before anyone can say a word they are joined by the Brickhouse Brown/Koko Ware/Norvell Austin, The Bruthahood who officially return from suspension today) Joe: "Guys, I know you are returning today but this time has been set aside for Mr. Cash and Mr. Smothers." Brickhouse: "Shut your damn mouth, Pedicino! We're out here now for a reason. Even though we've been suspended we've still been tuned in to TBS keeping up with what's going on in Continental and last week we see this brutha, Poke Chop Cash out here with this redneck rebel flag carrying white boy Tracy Smothers……and it made us all sick…in fact we even got a call from Iceman Parsons asking us if we could take care of this situation for him." Cash: "Situation? Listen here….Tracy Smothers is a nice young man and he has asked me to help him along in the business and I'm more than happy to team with him and pass along my knowledge to him rather than some thugs such as yourselves." Ware: "What did you just say?? Thugs?? Old man, did you just call us thugs? You listen and listen good…..we came out here to offer you an opportunity to join us…an opportunity to right some of the wrongs in this dirty prejudice wrestling business…..but if you want to draw a line in the sand and side with a guy who I'm pretty sure has a white robe at home hanging in his closet then that's on you my brother…..now I'm getting ready for a shot at the AWA World Lightheavyweight title tomorrow night….but how about tonight in Birmingham, you and the Grand Wizard here take on Brick and Norvell and we'll teach this boy some things your old ass don’t know. How bout that?" Tracy: "You guys are very disrespectful, this flag isn't about hate…..Porkchop Cash is a great man and I'm proud to stand beside him as a partner and to learn from a veteran like him….you guys wanna match tonight….then you've got one." Brick: "Slow down Casper….I wanna hear from ol' Poke Chop here." Cash: "I stand behind Tracy 100%! You thugs wanna fight tonight then you've got one!" Brick: "If we weren't coming fresh off suspension, we'd show you some thugs right about now…..but that's just fine, we won't beat your old ass here in this tv studio…..but best believe that when we get to Birmingham tonight….we're gonna go all Alex Haley on you….it's gonna be like a remake of Roots….but when I ask you what your name is…..I don't wanna hear 'Poke Chop', you better say, 'Bobby Cash'…." Cash: "Brickhouse Brown…..I promise you this…..after tonight you will damn sure know my name!" =============================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =============================== MATCH #4: One Man Gang pinned Parker Williams after a '747 Splash' (Post Match: One Man Gang goes over to Gordon Solie) OMG: "Mr. Solie…..I was back there watching on the monitor a little while ago when Adrian Street challenged Al Madril to a 'loser leaves town' match and I thought to myself…..that sounds like a pretty good idea…I mean since I gave Akbar that splash off the top rope, nobody has seen him and I don't suspect we will anytime soon….Nobody has heard from ol' Lars Anderson lately either...so how about we make it a clean sweep and make my match with King Kong Bundy tonight in Birmingham, a loser leaves town match!" Solie: "Well Gang, I'm by no means a matchmaker but I think Les Thatcher might be inclined to hear you out on that one." OMG: "Well I'm going to go back there and find him right now and make this happen!" (Crowd pops) ================================= MATCH #5: Koko Ware w/Norvell Austin & Brickhouse Brown pinned Dewey Cox after a dropkick off the 2nd turnbuckle ================================= PROMO FOR CLASH OF THE CHAMPIONS ================================= MATCH #6: AWA Continental Tag Champions The Fantastics (Fulton/Rogers) defeated The Rose Cousins (Randy/Pat) when Fulton pinned Pat after a top rope splash (Post Match: Joe Pedicino approaches the Fantastics) Joe: "Nice win for the Continental Tag Champions here today, guys tonight you square off against the National Tag Team Champions the Minnesota Wrecking to crew to decide who gets a shot at the AWA World Tag Team Champions, The Movement at the Clash of the Champions tomorrow night." Fulton: "The Andersons act like it's a forgone conclusion they'll be facing the Movement. They say we have a 'stupid name'. That's just fine….underestimate us…..make fun of our name….but we didn't get to be the Continental Tag Team champions because we can't go in that ring. Ask the Sheepherders about the Fantastics….ask the Grapplers about the Fantastics…..we've held those belts you currently hold Andersons……but tonight neither of our titles are on the line, it's about those World tag team titles and we'll fight you with everything we have to go on to face the Movement and put those World titles right here around our waists!" ================================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ================================== (When we return from the break, Solie and Platt talk about last week's attack on Bob Armstrong by Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden….and show a clip….they go on to say that Fuller and Golden have been suspended for 60 days and then pitch to a VTR from Bob and Brad Armstrong) (VTR- Bob Armstrong is in a neck brace sitting in a recliner as Brad Armstrong is sitting in a chair beside him wearing sunglasses to hide the damage suffered from the 'poison mist' from the Super Black Ninja) Bob: "Terry Funk…I've always known what kind of a man you are….and that answer is…not much of one….but recently you've really shown just how much of low down sorry excuse for a human being you really are……you had a problem with me and the only way you could figure out how to solve it was to get me suspended….but that wasn't good enough you started trying to take it out on my sons……you cost my son Brad here his AWA World Lightheavyweight Championship that he worked so hard to defend all across the globe…..your Japanese buddy nearly blinded him in the process….and then what did you do? You paid Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden to attack me and nearly break my neck in the process…..I don't know how long it will take me to recover from this neck injury and I don't even know if there's a way I'll ever be reinstated….but right now that's not what you need to worry about…what you better worry about is the fact that you and this man sitting beside me are going to be locked into a steel cage at the Omni at the Clash of the Champions because tomorrow night in Hotlanta…..'Bad' Brad isn't just coming for your title…..he's coming for vengeance!" (Brad removes the sunglasses revealing a patch over his right eye) Brad: "Terry Funk…..it don't matter if I've got one eye…..one arm…or one leg….I'm coming to the Omni to HURT you…..at this moment I don't care about the Continental title…..I don’t care about winning…..I don't even care about losing….as long as I leave there with a piece of you….as long I know that the next day you're going to wake up with a scar that will remind you the rest of your life that the worst mistake you ever made was crossing the Armstrongs…..then I'll be a happy man……tomorrow night at the Clash of the Champions, may God have mercy on your disgusting soul because Brad Armstrong will have NONE!" (END VTR) (Gordon Solie is joined by the Continental Champion Terry Funk in the Studio) Solie: "Mr. Funk, I really hope you realize what you've gotten yourself into here." Funk: "I'm sorry Gordon Solie…is this where I'm supposed to be scared that not one but TWO guys I've beaten up and humiliated sent in a video from HOME of them whining and licking their wounds and I'm supposed to be concerned??" Solie: "Well, you didn't beat up Bob Armstrong, you had Fuller and Golden do it, and actually it was Super Black Ninja who took Brad's title and spewed the poison into his eyes." Funk: "Why hell Solie….you make a good point…why are they so pissed off at me?? They should wanna go fight those guys instead threatening poor old Terry Funk…..Those guys are real tough talking to a camera in their living room down in Pensacola…..but look whose here in the studio…..in the flesh….the champion that's who…..the Funker…..not an Armstrong to be found here today because like I've said before the Armstrongs are cowards……and they are a disgrace to my business. I'm supposed to crawl under this podium and hide because Brad Armstrong is threatening me?? I'm supposed to pray for God to have mercy on me because Bob Armstrong's kid is upset with me?? Do they know who I am Gordon Solie?? I'm a former NWA World Champion! I make movies in my spare time……my brother and my father are legends! Bob Armstrong is a former fireman who has never held a World title……NONE of the Armstrongs will ever hold a candle to the Funk family and be honest Gordon Solie…..if you had to be locked inside a steel cage and had to fight either myself or 'Sad' Brad Armstrong….who would YOU rather fight??" Solie: "Point taken Terry, I think it's time for you to head to the ring for our main event." Funk: "Solie, I'll get in that ring when I damn well please….I'm the champion and nobody tells me what to do!" (Funk wonders around the studio shoving camera men and threatening random staff members before finally getting into the ring for his main event match) ============================== MAIN EVENT MATCH #7: Terry Funk pinned 'Wildcat' Wendell Cooley after jabbing him in the throat with his branding iron behind the ref's back © 1984 AWA Continental Championship Wrestling -

AWA Continental Championship Wrestling Television WTBS Studios Atlanta, Georgia Taped at 10am/Airing at 6:05pm eastern on Saturday September 28, 1984 on Superstation WTBS and other television outlets across Alabama/Mississippi/Georgia/East Tennessee/North Florida Host: Gordon Solie Color Commentary: Charlie Platt Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart Interviewer: Joe Pedicino AWA Continental Commissioner: Les Thatcher (Show opens with a scene from a press conference labeled 'previously recorded'. Joe Pedicino is standing at a podium, he says the reason there's been no wrestling on TBS the past couple of weeks is because Jim Barnett has purchased Continental Championship Wrestling and has merged it with Georgia Championship Wrestling. He says that the Continental show will now be airing at 6:05pm eastern on Saturday nights featuring your favorite stars from CCW, some of the stars you've come to know on GCW, and some new faces as well. The show will be hosted by Gordon Solie and Charlie Platt. He said as Bill Watts announced on television this week, World Class Wrestling will be taking over the Sunday 6:05pm slot. Pedicino said that World Class and Continental will be working together on some more joint ventures in the near future but first coming up on Sunday October 27th, Continental will present a live special entitled, 'Clash of the Champions' which will feature seven championship matches! More on the Clash to come.) (A brand new opening montage plays and we go to our hosts Gordon Solie and Charlie Platt) Solie: "Hello and welcome to Continental Championship Wrestling, we want to thank all the great fans of both Continental and Georgia Championship Wrestling for joining us and we plan to bring you some of the best wrestling action in the AWA today." Platt: "That’s exactly right Gordon, we're excited to join forces with Mr. Barnett and the great fans here in Georgia….there's been some great action happening over here in Georgia for quite some time." Solie: "Speaking of such, I want to inform everyone during our hiatus from television, a man who has been on quite the roll in Georgia Championship Wrestling, Harley Race has won the AWA National Heavyweight Championship over the former champion, Butch Reed." (This announcement brings out 'The Family' Harley Race, Arn & Ole Anderson, along with their manager Paul Ellering) Ellering: "As you can see, while Georgia Championship Wrestling may have been consumed by Continental Wrestling…which I don't quite understand since it was Jim Barnett who purchased their promotion….regardless of who owns what promotion wise….the fact is THE FAMILY owns the National Championship currently around the waist of Harley Race and the National Tag Team Championships that reside here on the shoulders of the Andersons. That's a fact that will not change regardless of who signs the checks." Race: "That's exactly right Paul…..the Family are the elite group in professional wrestling. All this merger means is more wrestlers and fans will learn why we are exactly what we claim to be….the greatest professional wrestlers on 'God's green earth." Ole: "Gordon Solie, tonight in Marietta…Arn and myself have got the Nightmares…..There's no denying they are a good team. They truly are two good wrestlers, but tonight they will learn what every tag team in Continental Wrestling will soon learn….the Andersons aka The Minnesota Wrecking Crew are your next AWA World Tag Team Champions." Arn: "That is not an opinion Charlie Platt, that is indeed a fact. You see just like Ole said…teams like the Nightmares are GOOD……but teams like the Andersons are GREAT! So, Les Thatcher….line up all your good teams….bring them all….The Armstrongs, The Goatherders, The Fantastics, The Grapplers, Fuller and Golden, and the list goes on and on….line 'em up….we'll knock 'em down. As for the Movement, if you say you've got a problem with 'the man' then you certainly have a problem with us…..but if you put those titles on the line against the Andersons, you'll learn what being 'held down' really means….at least for three seconds." Ellering: "And just to show that the Family is more than just talking about it…..Harley Race is putting out an open challenge right here on television in the main event……and whoever steps up will get a shot at the National title." ========================================== MATCH #1: The Andersons (Arn/Ole) w/Paul Ellering defeated Randy Watson/Roy Munson when Arn pinned Munson after a spinebuster ========================================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ========================================== Solie: "Something else that took place in the past two weeks was extremely shocking Charlie." Platt: "It certainly was. Super Black Ninja has been an extremely dominant AWA U.S. Jr Heavyweight Champion, however when he recently challenged the AWA World Lightheavyweight Champion Brad Armstrong, not many people thought he could defeat the more experienced champion…but perhaps due to Brad being so wrapped up in his family's feud with Terry Funk…Super Black Ninja pulled off the upset of a lifetime and he is the new AWA World Lightheavyweight Champion." (A clip rolls as Solie/Platt discuss showing Ninja getting his foot on the rope after Armstrong covered him following a 'Russian Leg Sweep'……as Brad went to the top rope, Terry Funk came down the aisle and taunted him with the Continental Championship belt, causing Armstrong to dive off the top rope out onto Funk on the floor….Brad rained down punches on Funk but as he went to stand back up, it seemed he tweaked his knee diving out to the floor, as he rolled back into the ring, Ninja swarmed him….and went to work on his knee….Funk tried to get into the ring but was stopped by the referee….as the ref was preoccupied with the Funk, Fuji handed his cane into the Ninja who broke it over Armstrong's knee, and then locked him in a modified Indian death lock….Armstrong didn't give up but finally passed out and the ref had no choice but to award the match and the championship to Super Black Ninja) Solie: "Right now, we want to bring out our fellow announcer Bob Armstrong to talk about this recent title change." (Bad to the Bone plays as Bob Armstrong makes his way out in a suit and tie) Platt: "Bob, I know that had to be tough to watch considering this whole thing started due to an issue between Terry Funk and yourself and now your sons are involved and it's ultimately cost Brad his World Lightheavyweight Championship which I know was a huge point of pride for you and the family." Bob: "You know every time I think Terry Funk can't stoop any lower he somehow tops himself. This was a disgrace and if I could I'd love to step between those ropes with Terry Funk and teach him a lesson his daddy Dory Sr. should have taught him a long time ago." (Funk makes his way out to the set) Funk: "Well well….just as I would suspect…'Blubberin' Bob is out here crying because his boy got beat by the Super Black Ninja….if you're so mad at me Bobby, how about you do something about it you coward!?!?" Armstrong: "You know good and well….we're both in place right now where neither of us can do anything….if you touch me you're suspended and if I touch you….I'll be fired as an announcer." Funk: "Well, as usual Bobby….you're half right….you're right, I can't touch you and you can't touch me…..but I stopped by the bank this morning and took out some cash…..and I talked to a couple of guys who are looking to head over to the coast for a while and was looking to make some quick cash on their way out…" (As Funk finished that sentence…Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden rushed Bob Armstrong and attacked him…they managed to get some licks in before giving him a spike piledriver on the studio floor as Scott/Steve Armstrong along with Tracy Smothers/Porkchop Cash run out to make the save but it appears to be too little too late as Bob has to be carried out on a stretcher during the commercial break) ===================================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ===================================== MATCH #2: One Man Gang pinned Memphis Monroe with the '747 Splash' Post match: Pedicino interviewed Gang who says tonight in Marietta, there will be no more count outs with King Kong Bundy as they will face off in a 'Lumberjack Match' and if he gets half a chance to get his hands on Akbar, he's going to make the General pay for everything he's done to him. ====================================== (Card for tonight in Marietta, GA) Saturday Oct. 19- Marietta, GA.
