  1. I had fun catching up here...well it finally happened Dundee showed his true colors along with the Dream Machine.....Dundee is the champ and I can't think that Lawler will stand for this for very long....I suspect he'll even the odds real soon. Great work with Buddy Landel, really enjoying his alliance with Tully Blanchard here! SD Jones is a perfect choice for this sort of turn...really fun stuff. I've always loved the tag team of Adonis/Murdoch and TNT is adding to that with every match
  2. Wow, a TON of great stuff to catch up on since I've been able to get on here....I loved the reveal of the security footage from Kevin to expose Gary Hart/Bockwinkel....however I equally enjoyed Hart's response...great stuff! Intrigued by the Chris Adams angle here....this could go either way...which is exciting for the fans because they really don't know which way things are going to go. The build of the Samoans has been tremendous....in the beginning I thought they were just another mid-card tag team for the Midnight Express to beat..but at this point it really feels like if they can get a far shot...they could bring home the gold! The wild three way feud between Schultz/Brody/Studd looks to be ready to pay off in a big way with the Chamber of Horrors match! I love all the stakes involved as well....can't wait to see how this plays out! Halloween Star Wars is going to be another huge card....looking forward to seeing how things play out!

"Wildcat" Wendell Cooley pinned Hercules Hernandez with a sunset flip in a huge upset victory eliminating the Southeastern Champion from the tournament! Semi-Finals: Brad Armstrong defeated Magnificent Muraco w/Mr. Fuji by DQ when Fuji was caught by the referee hitting Armstrong with his cane….after the match as Armstrong was leaving ringside, Super Black Ninja appeared in the aisle and spewed green mist in the eyes of Brad Armstrong……Announcer Bob Armstrong and Scott Armstrong came down to assist Brad in getting back to the dressing room due to being blinded by the mist. Terry Funk pinned "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley after a piledriver SEMI-MAIN EVENT AWA Continental Tag Team Championship The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton/Tommy Rogers) fought the Sheepherders (Butch Miller/Luke Williams) w/Skandor Akbar & Tony Falk to a 'NO CONTEST' when all four men started brawling in the ring and the referee could not regain control….Bobby Fulton was bloodied by the time this was over after being rammed head first into the ring post MAIN EVENT AWA Continental Heavyweight Championship Tournament Finals Brad Armstrong vs. Terry Funk Terry Funk entered the ring first……Brad Armstrong had to be led back down to the ring by his father and brother Scott as his left eye was bandaged and he was said to have limited vision in his right eye at the moment due to the mist from Super Black Ninja…..Brad says he refuses to forfeit and that he will compete in this match, he tells both Bob and Scott that no matter what happens, they better not throw in the towel like Scott did to Steve earlier tonight or he will NEVER forgive them. They hesitate but finally agree and are told to leave ringside…..as soon as the bell rings Funk charges at Brad and goes on the attack by throwing Brad out to the floor……he follows him out and starts to grind Armstrong's face into the concrete and then proceeds to bite at the right eye of Brad…before throwing him back into the ring…..Funk continues his attack in what is a pretty lopsided match due to Brad being almost completely blinded before the match by Super Black Ninja….after several minutes, Funk yells out…"It's time to put him down!!" Funk goes for a piledriver but Brad reverses it with a backdrop…..he nails Funk with a dropkick….and then mounts him and rains down punches on him…the referee eventually grabs Brad's arm to stopping him from punching which allows Funk to gouge Brad in the eyes…Funk then nails the piledriver for the 1--2--3!! Your winner and new AWA Continental Heavyweight Champion…..TERRY FUNK!!
  14. QUICK TV RECAP: AWA Continental Championship Wrestling Television WTVY Ch. 4 Studio Dothan, Alabama Taped at 10am/Airing at 3pm on Saturday September 28, 1984 on Superstation WTBS and other Television outlets across Alabama/Mississippi/East Tennessee/North Florida Host: Charlie Platt Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart Interviewer: Joe Pedicino AWA Continental Commissioner: Les Thatcher Show opens with Charlie Platt joined by Les Thatcher…..Thatcher says he has two big announcements. #1 is there will be a 16 man tournament tonight in Birmingham to crown a new AWA Continental Heavyweight Champion due to the 60 day suspension of the Bullet last week. The first round matches will be announced shortly right here on television. The second announcement is….due to the incident with Terry Funk last week and the fact he has chosen to be a part of the active roster here in Continental and the fact that Ronnie P. Gossett is still unavailable….Thatcher says he reached out to a wrestler who has been out of action for several weeks now and even though he's not allowed to wrestle in Continental at this time he can certainly be an announcer so Les introduces the new co-host for the show…..BOB ARMSTRONG!! Armstrong comes out and thanks Les Thatcher for the opportunity to feed his family since he hasn't been able to wrestle all this time, Armstrong says he's excited to be here and to see who becomes the champion tonight, because two of his sons will be competing for the title. Terry Funk comes storming out in a rage…..Funk asks Thatcher "what the hell is going on around here???" He point outs that last Saturday night he beat "Bob Armstrong's yellow bellied sons fair and square in the middle of the ring until Brad showed up unannounced and attacked me when I thought it was over like the sorry coward he really is!" Bob Armstrong said that Brad accepted his so-called 'Armstrong Challenge' and beat him at his own game and that Funk better be glad that he wasn't there because he would have "beat him like drum" and pinned him as well…..Funk gets in Armstrong's face and said "how about I beat your ass right now like I did Scott and Steve!" Charlie Platt reminds Funk that if he lays a hand on Bob Armstrong he'll be suspended for 60 days like The Bullet was last week. Funk says he "gets it"….Armstrong and his buddy Les Thatcher are messing with him by making him an announcer…..just like they were messing with him at the house shows this past week when Bob Armstrong came out with a different mask on and attacked him after he "beat up his stupid son again." Funk says it's fine….he won't play their games and get himself suspended and that in fact he plans to stick it up their a**** by winning the Continental title tonight and that somewhere along the way he will get his hands on Brad Armstrong as well. MATCH #1: The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton/Tommy Rogers) defeated Bobby/Donnie Bass w/Col. Buck Robley when Rogers pinned Bobby Bass after a splash off the top rope The Fantastics talk about their title defense tonight against #1 Contenders the Sheepherders, they say don't be fooled by their looks they can get down and dirty and fight with the best of them and tonight they are ready for war! MATCH #2: Magnificent Muraco w/Mr. Fuji pinned Parker Williams with an inverted piledriver Muraco says he came here to be a champion and tonight he has the opportunity to become the Continental Champion and that NO ONE will stand in his way! Charlie Platt pitches to Bob Armstrong who runs down the first round matches for tonight's AWA Continental Championship Tournament TONIGHT at the Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham, AL. AWA Continental Heavyweight Championship Tournament Round 1: Ron Garvin vs. Baron Von Raschke Brad Armstrong vs. Super Black Ninja One Man Gang vs. King Kong Bundy Magnificent Muraco vs. Mr. Olympia Steve Armstrong vs. Al Madril Terry Funk vs. Adrian Street Wendell Cooley vs. The Grappler Porkchop Cash vs. Hercules Hernandez MATCH #3: Brad Armstrong pinned The Intern after a 'Russian Leg Sweep' After the match, Mr. Fuji, Don Muraco, and Super Black Ninja come out to the desk……Muraco says that the match has been signed for next Saturday with Super Black Ninja challenging for the AWA World Light Heavyweight Championship in Panama City, Florida but first Super Black Ninja will beat Armstrong tonight in the first round of the Continental title tournament. Armstrong says that next week is just that….next week….but tonight, Ninja is just obstacle standing between him and the Continental title and whether it's Ninja, Muraco, Terry Funk….or ANYONE else…he's going to win the Continental Championship tonight! MATCH #4: King Kong Bundy w/Skandor Akbar pinned Randy Watson for a 5 count Bundy says that tonight, not only will he beat his rival the One Man Gang….he'll do it with a 5 count and he'll do it on the way to becoming the champ! MATCH #5: Porkchop Cash/Tracy Smothers defeated Sammy Hall/Bad Boy Burns when Smothers pinned Hall with a sunset flip off the top rope Post match: Smothers says that he and his new buddy Porkchop Cash have decided to team and go after the tag team titles and that they have a lot of respect for the Fantastics and would love to test their skills against them somewhere down the line MAIN EVENT MATCH #6: AWA Continental Television Championship "Exotic" Adrian Street w/Ms. Linda pinned Grappler 2 with a small package

  16. Dory Funk Jr is a great fit here....I look forward to seeing what brings him to the ring at some point. Very cool to see Kevin Von Erich to show up to back his brother....The Von Erichs vs. Adams/Gino was one of my favorite feuds back in the day....looking forward to seeing Adams and Kevin face off here. Blackjack pins the Big Cat.....I don't expect Ladd to take this lying down.
  17. Kevin Kelly and his brass knucks are on a rampage here in ACCW Savage/Gino continue to build towards a huge showdown. JYD/Dusty will be looking for revenge on the Briscos I'm sure. It will be interesting to see if Abby can hold onto the Florida title and end the "hot potato" streak it's on. Tony Atlas makes a fine Atlantic Coast champion.
  18. Man....World Class is really firing on all cylinders here! Great run of house shows, big wins for the Islanders and the Von Erichs! Paul Jones and Bob Orton are a great pairing, as mentioned...Orton vs. Windham will make for some great title matches! Best Movement promo yet! Loved it! Youngbloods and Adias pick up a win which earns the Youngbloods a World Tag Team title shot. I always love the interaction with Watts and Cornette here and seeing them handcuffed together will be a lot of fun! Looking forward to Windham vs. Tatum next week!
  19. The anticipation continues to build for Night of Champions! Loved the impromptu match between the Jayhawks/Murdoch & Adonis....the Jayhawks getting the win here over the champions really builds anticipation for the upcoming title match. DJ Peterson vs. Gary Young is a fun undercard feud Nice of George Wells to watch the Fabs' back against the Movement....but I have a strange feeling about it all.... The Hennig/Blanchard continues to heat up! This one is going to be a classic! Dibiase better not underestimate Ayala or he could end up a former champion Buddy Landel has arrived! Once again "Mr. AWA" makes a splash upon his debut and gets himself in line for title immediate title contention. Great stuff! Noone blurs the line between friends and enemies like Lawler/Dundee....can't wait to see them clash for the title at NOC!
  20. Wow...Adnan goes off the deep end and gets fired...and poor Tito is nearly killed...wild stuff! Bad News takes the money and helps the Movement retain! However....is $10,000 worth making a mortal enemy out of Stan Hansen??? We shall see... Flair vs. Dibiase delivers and Flair vs. Orndorff promises to be a classic!

Continental Championship Wrestling Civic Center Montgomery, Alabama Saturday Sept 21st, 1984 Bell Time: 8pm The Magnificent Muraco w/Mr. Fuji pinned Porkchop Cash after a powerslam AWA U.S. Jr Heavyweight Championship Super Black Ninja w/Mr. Fuji pinned Tracy Smothers after Smothers missed a dropkick off the top rope and Ninja landed a moonsault for the pinfall Tag Team Challenge Match King Kong Bundy/Baron Von Raschke w/Skandor Akbar vs. One Man Gang/Mystery Partner Devastation Inc. and Akbar are in the ring first as the One Man Gang makes his way out alone…..Akbar takes the mic from the ring announcer and says, "You made the biggest mistake of your life when you turned your back on Devastation Incorporated because you have no friends and no allies now that your sissy friend has the tv title and doesn't have time to let you hide behind his skirt." Gang snatches the mic away and says, "Well that just shows what you know Akbar….because I made a couple of friends back in ICW….and one of them is here tonight!! From behind Bundy/Baron comes Gang's partner……RONNIE GARVIN!! Tag Team Challenge Match One Man Gang/Ronnie Garvin defeated King Kong Bundy/Baron Von Raschke w/Skandor Akbar by DQ when Lars Anderson hit the ring and attacked Garvin…..until Bugsy McGraw ran in to help even the odds against Devastation Inc. "The Great" Al Madril pinned "Exotic" Adrian Street w/Ms. Linda after hitting him with a chain…in a non-title match, Madril will now get a shot at the Television title on this Saturday's television show #1 Contenders Tag Team Match The Sheepherders (Butch Miller/Luke Williams) w/Akbar & Falk defeated The Grapplers w/Mr. Fuji when Falk jabbed Grappler #1 in the throat with the flag pole while the referee was distracted by Fuji and Akbar arguing at ringside…allowing Miller to get a pin on Grappler #1 AWA Southeastern Heavyweight Championship Hercules Hernandez pinned Mr. Olympia with school boy roll up and a handful of tights to retain the title AWA Continental Tag Team Championship The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton/Tommy Rogers) defeated The Stud Stable (Robert Fuller/Jimmy Golden) w/Ron Fuller when Scott/Steve Armstrong came to ringside and prevented Ron Fuller from interfering allowing Rogers to get a small package on Golden to win the titles! Ring Announcer Rick Stewart announced the sanctioned show was now officially over but he would now turn the mic over to Terry Funk who has paid to rent the arena for the rest of the evening and hired his own referee (Ken Timbs) to officiate the next unsanctioned matches. Funk takes the mic. Funk: "Alright you egg suckin' Armstrongs…I know you're here because you just cost my friends their tag team titles…..so one of you two bring your yellow ass out here and take your beating like a man unlike your cowardly old man who likes to hide behind masks and punch announcers….then once I beat the first one…..bring on the second one!" Scott Armstrong comes down the aisle…. Unsanctioned Match #1: Terry Funk pinned Scott Armstrong after a low blow followed by a piledriver in 5:32 with a bit of a fast count from the referee This brings Steve Armstrong down the aisle…. Unsanctioned Match #2: Terry Funk pinned Steve Armstrong in 8:15 after hitting him with his branding iron as the referee looked the other way and then giving him a piledriver Funk takes the mic again…. Funk: "There you have it….I've destroyed the Armstrong Family in one night….Bob Armstrong can't come out here to answer my Armstrong Challenge because he's suspended! Bob Armstrong is not allowed to be here….and neither is the so called 'Bullet'…so right here in one night I've shut down the Armstrongs and now I'm going to focus on becoming the Continental Champion! So I'm gonna…" (Before Funk could finish the next sentence, Brad Armstrong unexpectedly hit the ring…..the bell rings…Ken Timbs has already left ringside but suddenly from out of nowhere referee Larry Brock slides into the ring) Unsanctioned Match #3: Brad Armstrong pinned Terry Funk with a small package in 21 seconds……Armstrong/Brock quickly exit the ring and are in the aisle laughing at Funk who goes ballistic in the ring and grabs the mic Funk: "Brad Armstrong, what the hell are you even doing here??? You weren't booked on the show….I wasn't expecting you to jump me from behind….and who the hell is that referee??? Where the hell in Timbs, you idiot??? This is B.S.!! You're all going to pay for this!! Brad Armstrong, I will destroy you!!" (Funk jumps out of the ring and starts destroying the ringside area, flipping over the announce table, throwing chairs up in the air over his head, Ken Timbs returns to try and calm Funk down but is attacked for his troubles and given a piledriver on the concrete floor…eventually Funk is escorted away from ringside by security and local police)
  22. AWA Continental Championship Wrestling Television WTVY Ch. 4 Studio Dothan, Alabama Taped at 10am/Airing at 3pm on Saturday September 21, 1984 on Superstation WTBS and other Television outlets across Alabama/Mississippi/East Tennessee/North Florida Host: Charlie Platt Guest Co-Host: Terry Funk Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart Interviewer: Joe Pedicino AWA Continental Commissioner: Les Thatcher (the show opens with highlights of the Bullet defeating Buddy Landel in last week's Mask vs. Title match to become the new Continental Heavyweight Champion….we then go to the opening montage and to the desk where Charlie Platt sits alone at the moment) Platt: "Hello and welcome once again to Continental Championship Wrestling, I'm Charlie Platt soon to be joined by my co-host Terry Funk who is running late today…..so with that in mind let's go to the ring for our opening bout featuring the brand new Continental Champion, the Bullet." MATCH #1: Continental Champion The Bullet defeated Dewey Cox with a sleeperhold (Afterwards: The Bullet makes his way over to the interview area with the returning Joe Pedicino) Joe: "Bullet, congratulations on winning the title…..and also successfully defending it in rematches this week against Buddy Landel." Bullet: "Welcome back Joe, it's good to have you back and it's good to be standing here with the Continental title belt and still in possession of the mask in spite of the best efforts of the so called 'Nature Boy' and his cronies in the Stud Stable…" (As Joe is getting ready to ask another question Terry Funk arrives with a piece of paper in his hand) Funk: "I apologize for my tardiness but I was asked to stop by and pick up this letter from our esteemed former champion, the one and only 'Nature Boy' Buddy Landel….if I may I'd like to read this letter here on the air in front of everyone per the request of my good friend Buddy Landel." Joe: "Bullet, do you have any objections?" Bullet: "Well….a real man would have showed up here in person to say whatever it is he has to say…..but I would expect nothing less from Buddy Landel." Funk: "Take it easy, Armstrong….just let me read what he's got here." Bullet: "I'm going to tell you one more time….it's the Bullet….not Armstrong." Funk: (rolls his eyes) "To Whom it May Concern (mostly Charlie Platt/Les Thatcher/Bob Armstrong), I cannot believe the recent events that have been allowed to take place by the so called Continental Wrestling office. I came here as a favor to my good friend and mentor Ron Fuller as well as a favor to all the wrestling fans who wanted a real champion to look up to as well as wanted to see the true Nature Boy of professional wrestling. For all my troubles, I was allowed to be constantly assaulted by an angry redneck scumbag like David Schultz…..I was insulted on a weekly basis by that nerdy local news guy Charlie Platt….and worst of all cheated out of my championship by Bob Armstrong who has been allowed to parade around with a stupid mask on and ignore the fact he's no longer allowed to compete in Continental. For all these reasons, I'm leaving Continental Championship Wrestling….please don't try to stop me or talk me out of this….my mind is made up. Perhaps in my absence you will see what you have lost and that I was the only decent thing on that second rate hillbilly 'rasslin' show that made people tune in each week. Good bye and good riddance…Charlie Platt, I hope you get an eternal case of laryngitis and spare the redneck viewers the misery of hearing your pointless ramblings while singing the praises of low lifes like the Armstrongs. Les Thatcher, you are the most inept person at your job I've ever seen and I say that having worked for Jerry Jarrett before which is really saying something….and last but not least…Bob Armstrong, I hope you lose that belt real soon and I hope you have to go back to Georgia and ride a fire truck or garbage truck or whatever it was you did before you darkened the doors of my great sport. Sincerely, "Mr. AWA" "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel P.S. Ted Turner will likely throw this show off the air when he hears I'm not on it." Bullet: "Wouldn't it just have been easier to say that Landel is a coward and he's gone home to cry about it." Funk: "Listen here Armstrong, the only coward here is a guy hiding behind a mask…..I've tried really, really hard to be a nice guy and have fun being the co-host here on this show but you parading around in this mask and screwing over my friend is really rubbing me the wrong way." Bullet: "Listen Terry, I'm done telling you I'm NOT Bob Armstrong….I AM THE BULLET!" Funk: "Don't raise you voice at me….BULLET…cause I'll be the one to end this charade in about ten seconds." Bullet: "Well if you feel froggy Mr. Funk, then jump right up." Funk: "Oh I don't wanna fight you…BULLET. My problem is with Bob Armstrong. Now if you're truly NOT Bob Armstrong….I'm sure that's of no concern to you. Why….if YOU aren't Bob Armstrong, I'm sure I could say whatever I wanted about Bob Armstrong or his family and it wouldn't effect you in the least seeing as how YOU aren't Bob Armstrong." Bullet: "He's a good man and a good friend, but I guess you're right." Funk: "Hell of course not…..if you are the Bullet and NOT Bob Armstrong….you wouldn't care if I was to go ahead and say that Bob Armstrong's kids are all a bunch of yellow egg suckin' dogs, would ya?" Bullet: (pacing a bit) "Watch it Funk….those are my friends all the same." Funk: "Why sure they're your friends…BULLET….but not your family….I mean you wouldn't get that upset if I said that Bob Armstrong's wife is a big fat ugly heifer would you??" Bullet: (balling up his fists) "That's a man's wife, Funk…you're outta line!" Funk: "Yeah, but not YOUR wife……hell, I bet you wouldn't even care if I said that Bob Armstrong's mother likes to hang out at truck stops and give the guys.." (Before Funk could finish Bullet nailed him with a big right hand knocking him to the floor as security and Les Thatcher run out to grab the Bullet) Bullet: (while being restrained) "I'll kill you Funk….you hear me! I'll kill you!!" Funk: (getting up off the floor holding his jaw with a huge grin on his face) "Well…well BULLET, it looks like Les Thatcher here is going to be looking for a new champion now." Joe: "What are you talking about Terry?" Funk: "Well, Tubby….The Bullet here…..just assaulted an announcer….and thanks to you getting pushed down by the Sheepherders, and thanks to what Les Thatcher said on this program last week…..the Bullet will now be suspended for 60 days….and since that's more then the 30 days he has to defend the title….he'll have to be stripped of the belt!!" Les: "Go to break and security, escort Terry Funk away from the set!" ============================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ============================= Platt: "Fans, it's total chaos backstage right now as the Bullet is being asked to leave the building, Terry Funk is refusing to leave the building and we've yet to hear confirmation that what Funk said was true about the Bullet being suspended although based on the statement from Les Thatcher here last week, that would seem to be the case. I didn't get a chance to mention at the top of the show, our main event today will be the Armstrongs taking on the Grapplers with the winners facing the Sheepherders tonight in Montgomery in a #1 Contender's match. However, right now we have the television debut of one of the top tag teams in the world today, The Fantastics! MATCH #2: The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton/Tommy Rogers) defeated 'Big' Tom Dugan/Mr. Tibbs when Fulton pinned Tibbs after a splash off the top rope (Post match: Joe Pedicino approaches the Fantastics at ringside) Joe: Guys, you have seen a tremendous amount of success all across the country and been champions everywhere you've been, not to mention this week you've already garnered a few big wins which has earned you a tag team title shot tonight against the Stud Stable of Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden." Bobby: That's right Mr. Pedicino and we plan to make the most out of this opportunity right of the gate." (Fuller and Golden come storming out) Fuller: "Now hold on just a second here…..so just because you've found a couple of pretty boys wearing bow ties they automatically get a title shot? Is this some sorta joke or something?" Tommy: "No joke my friend….We've beaten bigger and better than you two….and we're not afraid of this Stud Stable you've got running around." Golden: "You may have beaten bigger, but I promise you've never even been in the ring with better….and that's a fact." Bobby: "If that's true why are you two out here to complain about defending the titles against us?" Fuller: "Nobody said we were complaining….just questioning your credentials….you want some of the Stud Stable, well get ready boys cause you'll get all you want in Montgomery…I can promise you that!" ============================== (Highlights are shown of last night's AWA World Title match between Brad Armstrong and Ted Dibiase, including the pre-match challenge from Mr. Fuji and Super Black Ninja…Charlie Platt says that Brad Armstrong will here in the studio next week to address the challenge from the U.S. Jr Champion, Afterwards, Les Thatcher comes out and announces that since Terry Funk was acting in the role of an announcer that he does in fact have to suspend the Bullet for 60 days and that due to that the AWA Continental Championship is now vacant….he will have an announcement next week on how the vacancy will be filled) =============================== MATCH #3: The Magnificent Muraco w/Mr. Fuji pinned Randy Watson after an inverted piledriver (Post match: Muraco says he that whatever it is Thatcher has in mind to crown a new Continental Champion, he better be a part of it!) ================================ COMMERCIAL BREAK ================================ MATCH #4: "Wild Eyed Southern Boy" Tracy Smothers pinned Buck Nasty after a sunset flip off the top rope (Post match: Platt was interviewing Smothers about how excited he is to be able to compete "back home" here in the South after spending some time in AWA Pacific, Mr. Fuji and Super Black Ninja came out and Fuji said it's Smothers' "lucky day" because the Ninja has beaten every contender for his title in the territory so he is here to offer Smothers a title tonight in Montgomery….Smothers accepts and tells Charlie that it seems like a good move coming back to the South) ================================ MATCH #5: King Kong Bundy/Baron Von Raschke w/Skandor Akbar defeated Lonnie Jameson/Parker Williams when the Baron pinned Williams with the CLAW! (Post match: One Man Gang challenges Bundy/Baron to a tag team match tonight in Montgomery….Akbar accepts and asks Gang who on earth besides Street whose busy these days as TV champion would ever team with him….Gang says "show up tonight and find out" ================================= COMMERCIAL BREAK- A commercial airs for the video tape of Battle of New Orleans available on Beta or VHS ================================= MATCH #6: Mr. Olympia pinned Roy Munson after a DDT (Post Match: Mr. Olympia says that Hercules is riding high as the new champion fresh off winning the title in the process of running the Freebirds out of the area….but tonight he's going to catch the champion off guard and take the title….and Hercules better not underestimate him!) ================================== (Charlie Platt runs down the card for tonight in Montgomery) ================================== MATCH #7: MAIN EVENT Winners face the Sheepherders tonight in Montgomery in a #1 Contenders Match The Grapplers w/Mr. Fuji defeated Scott & Steve Armstrong when Terry Funk came to ringside and hit Scott in the head with his branding iron while the referee was distracted by Mr. Fuji (Post match: Terry Funk storms the set…..and takes the mic from Charlie Platt) Funk: "Tonight I'm heading to Montgomery and I'm going to issue an 'Armstrong Open Challenge'….Any Armstrongs that are in the building, I'll fight you each one on one until I beat you all!" (Les Thatcher comes out) Thatcher: "Funk, you aren't even on our roster…..you aren't booked for tonight and I'm not adding you to the card." Funk: "You listen to me and listen good, Thatcher! I'm not asking to be put on the card…I just want to beat up those stinking Armstrongs some more and finish running them out of here now that their Daddy is officially gone for 60 days……so I don't care if I have to pay to rent the arena after the show is over…..I'm going to walk out there, unsanctioned at the end of the night and challenge those yellow egg suckin' Armstrongs to come out and fight me and if they don't have the guts.." (Before Funk can finish his sentence, Steve Armstrong comes charging out and the show ends with them fighting all over the studio and out the side door into the parking lot) Platt: "Folks, Terry Funk has apparently declared war on the Armstrongs and I would say it looks like that accept! Get down to Montgomery because you don't want to miss this!!" © 1984 AWA Continental Championship Wrestling
