Absolute chaos on tv this week....I'm sure this would have had everyone glued to their televisions. I love the 10 minute challenge from Superstar to Shawn Michaels.....this is a great way to start building Michaels....young guys don't need to win....they just need to survive to start getting the crowd behind them....I like it! Great job convincing Brody to put over Duggan I'm thinking Harley vs. Brunzell made for quite the main event in Chicago!

While I was excited for Hogan vs. Jumbo, I'm even more so excited for Dibiase vs. Jumbo and as Dibiase mentioned as Jumbo has been preparing for a brawl...how will it throw off his game to go against an all around wrestler like Dibiase? Huge win for Cocoa Samoa over Ratamyus....as I mentioned last week, I've been so impressed with your booking of this monster I did some research on him to learn more about the character and ironically he was talked about at length on one of the Jim Cornette podcasts this week (the drive thru I believe) Idol vs. Blanchard is a fun match with two guys who have very similar personalities but very different ring styles and looks.....I can't wait to see where this goes. Funk vs. Santana has been very well built and I look forward to their match at Summer Blast! OMG...as if there wasn't enough heat on this six man cage match....Hart and company go and pull this stunt with Fergie! This six man cage match would pack the house as is....but there's a huge super card to back it up....this is one I would have begged my Dad to take me to when I was a kid in '84!

AWA Continental Championship Wrestling

AWA Continental Championship Wrestling Television WTVY Ch. 4 Studio Dothan, Alabama Airing at 3pm on Saturday July 13, 1984 on Superstation WTBS Hosted by Charlie Platt/Ronnie P. Gossett Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart Interviews: Joe Pedicino AWA Continental Commissioner: Les Thatcher (Show opens with footage of "Dr. D" David Schultz attacking Bob Armstrong when he was on his way to the ring in Dothan to challenge Terry Gordy for the Southeastern Heavyweight Championship….we then go to the new opening montage and then to the desk with Charlie Platt and Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Hello and welcome once again to Continental Championship Wrestling, we have a great show in store for you today except here at the beginning where we need to discuss this lunatic, "Dr. D" David Schultz who has appeared TWICE now attacking Bob Armstrong trying to collect this $25,000 bounty and we still don't know who has put this bounty on Armstrong's career." RPG: "With a guy like Armstrong it could be anybody…..between him and his idiotic sons it could be anybody they've wronged over the years…..I can only imagine the number of people who want to see him out of the wrestling business." Platt: "I don't know about that Mr. Gossett, but the fact remains that not only was Bob Armstrong attacked last Saturday in Dothan, when that didn't get the job done and Armstrong still showed up Monday night in Birmingham to compete in the tournament….this Schultz guy showed up dressed up like a Grappler and attacked Armstrong AGAIN and sent him to the hospital." RPG: "He certainly did and right now I understand that Joe Pedicino caught up to Schultz leaving the Boutwell Auditorium that night and got these comments from 'Dr. D'." PROMO COURTESY OF BLEHSCHMIDT (VTR- Backstage from Birmingham this past Monday night. David Schultz is walking out of the building after his attack on Bob Armstrong, and Joe Pedicino catches him just as he is about to walk out the door.) Joe: "David Schultz! You've just assaulted Bob Armstrong for the second time, and cost him his chance at becoming the Continental Wrestling Heavyweight Championship. One can only assume that you are here to claim the Twenty Five Thousand Dollar Bounty that was placed on his head. What do you have to say about that? Who is behind the bounty?" Schultz: "You figure that out all by yourself did you? What's your name fat boy?" Joe: "Joe Pedicino" Schultz: "Well Joe, I'm feeling pretty good right now, so I'll answer your stupid questions, so you just shut your mouth, stand there looking like forty pounds of potatoes in a ten pound bag, hold that microphone, and maybe you won't end up like Bob Armstrong. Ya understand that? Did I come here to claim the twenty five grand on the head of Bob Armstrong, you damn right I did. So I came to Dothan last Saturday night and I smacked Bob Armstrong around just a little bit. Now normally it only takes Dr. D one time to take somebody out, but when you're dealing with Georgia people like the Armstrongs, you gotta inflict a little extra punishment, because years of inbreeding has left them with those hard mongoloid skulls. So tonight I knew I needed a little something extra, so I dropped him neck first onto that chair baby. I heard the crunch, and now Bob Armstrong is all done. All that's left now is for Scott, Steve, Kerry, Bret, Greg, and hell I don't know what his kids are called, to go visit him in the ICU. Meanwhile, mystery man, and no Joe Pedicino, I don't know who is behind the money, and I don't care. Just so long as I get paid. Honestly, I look it at this way. I took out Bob Armstrong for free, give me the Twenty Five Grand for having to soil my boots by stepping foot in Alabama!" (Schultz shoves Pedicino out of the way and heads out the back door as the VTR comes to an end.) Platt: "Well, isn't he a real treat?" RPG: "HA! I like that guy….he set that Joe Cappuccino straight…we need him here every week, Charlie Platt!" Platt: "I don't know about that….but right now let's hear from Bob Armstrong who had these comments for Joe as he was leaving the hospital in Birmingham later that night." (VTR- Joe Pedicino is standing a few feet from the door of the ER at the Birmingham hospital as Bob Armstrong comes out with his son Scott holding a bag of ice on his neck) Joe: "Bob, I know this isn't a good time but is there anyway we could get some comments about these unprovoked attacks from David Schultz?" (Scott steps in between) Scott: "Joe, with all due respect, this really isn't a good time to talk…(Bob puts his hand up and cuts Scott off) Bob: "Hold on a minute son, I appreciate it and no this isn't a good time to talk….but I'm going to talk anyway because I hope that curly headed redneck goof David Schultz is watching this program right now……now you listen to me Doctor D or whatever it is you call yourself…..I understand to you this is just business….you're just trying to collect this twenty five thousand dollars that some coward has offered up to anyone who can take me out…..but you better understand that whatever this is to you…..it's gotten real, real personal with me…you understand?? You cost me a chance at the Southeastern title…..you cost me a chance at the Continental title….you've tried to permanently injure me to the point that I can't make a living and feed my family. I hope you aren't stupid enough to think I'll take that lightly! I don't care what the Doctors say, I don't care that I can't turn my head right now because of you dropping me on my neck again…..I want you in the ring THIS SATURDAY NIGHT IN DOTHAN! I don't care that you wrestle for World Class….or No Class or whatever rock you crawled out from under…..you sign whatever documentation is required to legally step your butt in a Continental ring…..or else you just meet me in the parking lot but one way or another…..me and you are gonna settle this 'Doctor D' and I when I get done with you….they might just call you 'Nurse D' David Schultz….so bring it on down to Dothan on the 13th!" (END VTR) Platt: "Strong words from Bullet Bob." RPG: "His second trip to the ER in three days and we're supposed to take him seriously….give me a break, David Schultz will end him tonight at the …." (Buddy Landel comes strolling out in his robe) Landel: "Hold on just a minute baby, why are you guys out here wasting time talking about Bob Armstrong? That nothing happening old man didn't win a stinkin' thing in Birmingham….but Ronnie P……tell 'em who did!" RPG: "Oh that's right Naitch, I was just about to tell them the good news! 'Nature Boy' Buddy Landel, Mr. AWA himself won the tournament and he will be wrestling Mr. Olympia tonight for the Continental Championship!" Landel: "That's right Daddy, they're saying this is the biggest card to hit Dothan in 20 years and when the Nature Boy locks Special Olympia in that figure four, I will be the first ever Continental Champion! Now while I'm super happy about that…..I'm also super annoyed by something else?" Platt: "What on earth could that be??" Landel: "Shut your mouth and pay attention and I'll tell you. I had a plan in place, well to be more specific….the 'Boss' had a plan in place. The plan from the Boss was, to put this bounty on Bob Armstrong to get him out the way….which this clown Dave Schultz still hasn't managed to collect….should've just let me handle it…..but anyway….the plan was get Armstrong outta the way so I could breeze through the tournament….CHECK! Step two, beat Special Olympia tonight and win the Continental Championship…after tonight CHECK! Phase three of the Bosses plan was to use the Continental Championship to get me in the ring with Hulk Hogan where I would lock him in the figure four until he screamed 'UNCLE'….or 'BROTHER' or whatever more like 'Nature Boy you're the best wrestler in the world and not only do I submit but I retire so I can go make more crap movies like Rocky 3', I mean come on…Thunderlips?? What was Sly thinking?" Platt: "I think a better question is….who is this boss you keep referring to?" Landel: "Well Charlie, didn't I tell you who he was?" Platt: "No, you didn't." Landel: "That's because it's none of your damn business…..anyway, back to my story….so now just as I was getting ready to get Hogan down here and beat him for the title….Ted Dibiase beats him for it in Atlanta, Georgia a few days ago." Platt: "Well, actually the World Champion is scheduled to defend the title in Huntsville next Saturday night at the Rocket City Rumble, however that title match was signed 30 days ago before the Continental title existed so Dibiase will be facing the Southeastern Champion either Terry Gordy or One Man Gang, whoever wins the title match tonight….but I'm sure you or Olympia whoever wins the Continental title will get a shot soon enough." Landel: "What do you mean, me or Olympia? Obviously it will be me and I better get a World title shot real soon after I win the Continental title….and while I'm sure I could beat Ted Dibiase without much problem….I hope Gordy wins tonight and beats Dibiase because I know I could beat Gordy for the belt with no problem whatsoever." (Suddenly Terry Gordy comes storming out to the desk) Gordy: "Boy…..I'll tell ya what if talking big was ever a sport you would damn sure be a World Champion…but sadly for you it's not….now I just heard you say that YOU could beat ME with no problem….well I'd love to see that…..in fact I think all these fans would love to see that (POP) So, I just asked Les Thatcher to sign a match….right here…TODAY on this very television program….You, Mr. Big Mouth vs. Me, the Southeastern Champion…..so I suggest you shut your mouth and get ready for a fight….cause that motor mouth just got you in one right here…..comin' up shortly!" (Gordy storms off as the crowd goes wild) Landel: "Ronnie, I've got a Continental title match tonight, I can't fight Barry Gordy on tv today…he's lost his mind. No..no…this is not happening…where the hell is Thatcher…Ronnie, I gotta go…" (Landel takes off) Platt: "Ronnie, I think Terry said it best….his motor mouth just got him in a fight." RPG: "That's not funny Charlie Platt….he's going to get this thrown out….let's go to the ring." ======================================== MATCH #1: "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley/Scott Casey defeated Frank Reynolds/Roy Munson when Casey pinned Munson after a running bulldog ======================================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ======================================== Platt: "Just a reminder for our fans in the Knoxville, Tennessee area who are now watching us here on TBS, we'll be there Monday night with a great card and coming up later on we'll have some more news about the big Rocket City Rumble event coming to Huntsville, Alabama next Saturday where there will be a 30 man battle royal to crown our first Continental Television Champion." RPG: "Speaking of new champions, we have a new U.S. Jr. Champion, the Super Black Ninja who defeated Scott Armstrong for the title and Mr. Fuji says they have their sights set on Brad Armstrong's AWA World Light Heavyweight Championship." Platt: "Well, let's go to the ring and see the new champion in action." ========================================= MATCH #2: U.S. Jr Champion Super Black Ninja w/Mr. Fuji pinned Randy Watson after a moonsault press from the top rope ========================================= Platt: "We've got a huge 10 match card coming up tonight at the Houston County Farm Center, most of which could be considered main events anywhere in the country." RPG: "yeah…yeah…yeah…Charlie…that's great but right now let's go to what I'm sure will be the highest rated television segment on TBS this week…..Al Madril's Fiesta Garden." (The camera pans over to a very festive looking set that reads 'Fiesta Garden' as Al Madril comes out followed by Hercules Hernandez in a track suit standing close behind him) Madril: "Hello everyone and welcome to the very first Fiesta Garden with your soon to be AWA World Light Heavyweight Champion, Alberto Madril and you can get used to seeing this man behind me as the 'Boss' pays good money to make sure myself and the Nature Boy are guarded at all times by the strongest man in wrestling today…..Mr. Hercules Hernandez. Say hello Hercules." Herc: "Hello…" Madril: "It would have been funny if you would've actually said, Hello Hercules." (Hernandez just glares at him) Ok, we'll leave the jokes to me I guess….speaking of jokes, today's guest is going to be none other than the biggest joke in the AWA today…..of course I'm talking about Adrian Street with his hag, Linda." ('Imagine what I could do to you' plays as Adrian prances out accompanied by Ms. Linda) Street: "I'm sorry Alvin, did I hear you call me a joke?" Madril :"First of all….it's Alberto…..second of all…you are a joke….and don't get cute or Hercules will take care of you." Street: "Oh, that’s right you told me that last week…..you're my 'Latin Lover' Allllberrtooo. How charming…(turns to Linda) Did you hear that darling, his name is Alberto….he may be more exotic than me. (looks to Hercules) As for Mr. Muscles, I won't get cute, I was born cute and while I find your offer of having him take care of me tempting….the truth is I can take care of myself…..unlike Ms. Linda who he apprehended recently…..while I look forward to tangling with you soon Alberto, me and Mr. Muscles here will be squaring off tonight and I promise both you that you'll soon find out…..I'm no joke!" Madril: "Now now…Mr. Street don't go getting yourself all worked up….the Fiesta Garden is not a place for confrontation or hostility. The reason I brought you out here is you had the most up close view of my victory over the so-called AWA World Light Heavyweight Champion, Brad Armstrong right here on this tv show last week here on the Superstation." Street: "Oh yeah….let's talk about Bradley Strongarm….you only pinned Bradley because he was stupid and chose to argue with me rather than paying attention to you…..then that night I would have beaten him if YOU hadn't interfered and attacked me during my title match and I'm not convinced that you two are conspiring to keep that title off me because BOTH of you know if I get that title, neither of you could ever beat me for it." (Brad Armstrong appears) Brad: "First off Madril, the only reason you pulled off a cheap victory over me was because the Grappler #2 and this freak stuck their nose in our match." Street: "Who are you calling a freak, Bradley Strongarm? The only reason those two didn't double team you and beat you to a bloody pulp is because I stopped the Grappler from interfering! Then rather than thanking me for saving you, you start yelling like a madman and cost yourself the match! Then the only reason you still have that title is because Madril attacked me….and rightfully it should be ME in there challenging for the title instead of Madril because I've yet to have a fair shot at it." Madril: "YOU?? I'm the one that holds a pinfall victory over the 'champ'! How many times have you beat him, Street?" Brad: "You hold a cheap meaningless victory over me…..and I'm going to rectify that tonight and as for you, Adrian……once I beat Alberto tonight….I'll be more than happy to face you again!" Street: "Wonderful….well good luck to you tonight….I'll be watching…and as for you Mr. Muscles, you will pay for putting your hands on Ms. Linda….I promise you that!" ================================ COMMERCIAL BREAK ================================ Joe Pedicino runs down tonight's card: Continental Championship Wrestling TONIGHT!!! Olympia: "Joe, it's a great honor to be recognized as the last man to hold those prestigious titles and they'll have a special place on my mantle and I've got another spot waiting there for that Continental title belt when I bring it home tonight." Joe: "So I can't help but notice you've added a new move to your arsenal, the DDT." Olympia: "After feeling the effects of it several times at the hands of Jake the Snake…..I studied it quite a bit….and once the ban was lifted on it and since Jake has seemingly disappeared from sight around here…..I figured I'd make use of it…and Buddy Landel, if I apply it to you tonight that strap is coming home around my waist!" ================================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ================================== MATCH #5: HANDICAP MATCH One Man Gang w/Skandor Akbar defeated Jay Moore/Blue Cyclone when Gang pinned Moore after a '747 Splash' ================================== MATCH #6: MAIN EVENT Southeastern Champion Terry 'Bam Bam' Gordy Vs. One Man Gang hits the ring along with Kabuki/Nagasaki and attack Gordy…..but Michael Hayes and Buddy Roberts quickly come in to even the odds…….the Nightmares run in to help Landel…but Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden come and tie up with the Nightmares…..as Landel goes to hit Armstrong from behind Mr. Olympia comes and jumps on him. Platt: "Fans, this is crazy…the studio is in total chaos we've literally got over a dozen men fighting all over the studio…" RPG: "Platt, you guys don't pay me enough to deal with this, I'm out of here!" Platt: "Folks, we're out of time and for once I think Ronnie Gossett might be right….I'm getting out of here….this is pandemonium….a LOT of scores to be settled tonight, get down to the Houston County Farm Center, you don't want to miss this!!" © 1984 American Wrestling Association CCW LLC. -
Great card in Columbus! Awesome way to establish Haystacks as a dangerous competitor with the ref stoppage and the stretcher job after the 2nd elbow What a main event....I love the idea of Reed/Parsons/Hansen as a team....I still cringe every time I see the name Yokozuna in 1984 but regardless you can't go wrong with the Andersons in the main event.
-
Wow...Hogan walks away....Savage is out with an injury...and what a perfect time for Naitch to strut right in the door and grab all the limelight! Heenan is the hottest manager in the game right now as he's scored big with Hennig (while still young here but a huge star in the making) and the debut of Flair If Nikita wins the this battle royal Dibiase's title reign is in trouble already Fernandez/Dr. Death may represent the most serious challenge to the Warriors in the entire AWA
-
No worries...with everything that's gone down it's a good way to make sure everyone is up to speed
-
A lot of great tag matches on this show. It didn't take long for things to get ugly with the Sawyers, looking forward to watching this unfold Nice title defense for Harley here

Great promo from Dibiase I like Blackjack being a mentor for MVE, I think that's the only way to use him successfully away from the other Von Erichs Hillbilly Jim works well here Dibiase vs. Wahoo will be an excellent World title match for this neck of the woods
-
Great show! A joint show is an awesome way for both promotions to hit the ground running and you guys certainly have!! Solid card from top to bottom....but perhaps my favorite match was the Fantastics getting their long awaited win over the Long Riders! Great job on picking up with what was already happening in Georgia and playing off that as well as tying up some loose ends. Nice win for Harley over Rich for the title but I'm sure Tommy Rich will be looking for revenge on not only Race but Superstar as well! Great work implementing the Sheiks into Dibiase's title win...Hogan's vengeance may become focused on them allowing Dibiase to slip off of Hogan's radar as champion. Great job guys and again welcome to the game!!
-
Huge debuts for Macho Man and JYD! David Crockett is here!! But sadly no Tony to "Look at 'em Tony, look at 'em" "Squeezing him tighter and tighter" Porkchop wins the AC title! Fun stuff with Gino and Tonga
-
Great first show! Really enjoyed the Harley Race and Ole Anderson promos! As mentioned that Omni card is beyond stacked...what a way bring Georgia back with a bang!

Another big win for the Glamour Boys defeating the Movement who are red hot right now The Islanders vs. The Moondogs had to be a heavy hitting slug fest! Nice victory for the Grappler beating Adias who has been on a roll recently Garvin and company got the best of Kendall on tv...but this time he had two guys he could trust in brother Barry and Sam Houston.....Donovan will clearly be the "Buddy Roberts" of this trio. I'm a big fan of Saito...always have been....I feel like the fans would have really up for this match with Kerry in all these venues Bockwinkel's alliance with Studd will serve him well it seems....I'm sure he had a classic with Kevin before the interference
-
Welcome to the game! Great job on seamlessly picking things up where they left off while still putting your spin on things. A couple of really solid shows here....good to see Butch Reed back on the winning side of things. Yoko in '84 wasn't nearly the massive man he would go onto be later....but a collision between he and Giant Haystacks will still be quite the clash!
-
First off....welcome to the game!! Great to see you hit the ground running with a series of solid shows. Rich or Race either one will make for a strong champion. Looks like Great Lakes is going to be an exciting territory to watch!
-
I enjoy these shows where you bring everything up to speed and really define the "state of the union" if you will in All Star. Sheik Sgt Slaughter may turn out to be the biggest most hated heel in the game after these despicable actions....I like the swerve as I'm sure I can't be the only one who thought it was a forgone conclusion that Anvil would be turning heel. I love the tease of Flair making his debut, looking forward to seeing that he has to say about joining up with the Brain!
-
Another great tv show.....Summer Blast is going to be HUGE!! Great angle with Funk/Tito! One of the fun aspects of this game for me is going back and doing research on wrestlers I'm not familiar with.....Ratamyus is certainly one of those that I wasn't familiar with but I've been doing some studying on him and it's really been fascinating and raised my interest in him!

Gossett) Platt: "Hello and welcome to the debut of Continental Championship Wrestling here on Superstation WTBS, for all our great Southeastern fans….we thank you for your continued support and for all the great fans joining us for the first time, we thank you as well and are excited to bring you great action from right here in the heart of the South such as our huge main event today as the Mississippi Heavyweight Champion the 'Latin Lover' Al Madril will take on AWA World Light Heavyweight Champion Brad Armstrong in a match where neither title will be on the line but a lot of pride will be…." RPG: "Well speaking of pride, thank God you don't have any for all the new fans watching us for the first time I want to apologize in advance for Charlie Platt, he's a hick from here in Dothan, Alabama and he doesn't know any better." Platt: "So, that's how we're going to start this thing out? A new name, a new station, but same old Ronnie." RPG: "You don't mess with perfection Charlie Platt and that's what I bring to this broadcast…and speaking of perfection, I want to bring you a man right now who is making his debut here in Continental Championship Wrestling…..the one and only true 'Nature Boy' in professional wrestling…of course I'm talking about Buddy Landel…" (Landel stuts out in a suit) Platt: "Well, let's be honest this isn't his debut as he showed up last night in Gadsden, Alabama and helped the Nightmares win a match." RPG: "First of all, we'll get to that and of course I was referring to his TELEVISION debut you imbecile….act like you've done this before, my apologies Budro." Landel: "Wow Ronnie, you told me this guy was a goof but he whiffed that in record time….the debut show on the SuperStation with the biggest star in wrestling and that's how you handle it? Surely, they could find somebody better to do this….where's Gordon Solie these days?" RPG: "Let's not let Charlie Platt spoil a truly glorious moment, Naitch…tell us how you ended up here in Continental." Landel: "Ronnie, as you well know I was up there in AWA All Star Wrestling just killing it…getting over like a million dollars….I'm telling you up there in Stampede, I was considered a Canadian national hero…I was more popular than hockey up there. Then I got a phone call from an old friend who said, 'Buddy, we got a bogus second rate wannabe Nature Boy down here that couldn't lace your boots and we need you to come down here and make sure we get some great ratings on WTBS for our debut show. Obviously, as loved as I was up there and of course with the record gates I was drawing for the promotion, they begged me not to go and offered me an obscene amount of money to stay but I refused because I felt like these people down here needed to see the real 'Nature Boy' in action…..notice I didn't say deserve it….they just need it." Platt: "Now wait a minute, Buddy. I happen to have a couple of friends that work for All-Star and they told me that you shot your mouth off and promised you'd win a title within thirty days or you'd leave and when you didn't pull it off, you had to go." RPG: "Charlie Platt, how dare you?? How dare you spread such a lie?? Number one, I don’t know which lie is more offensive….that you expect us to believe you have a couple of friends or that you tried to convince these people that Buddy Landel failed at anything…now shut your mouth and let him finish!" Landel: "Thank you Ronnie…..thank God that we have you here to bring some class to this show….what a jerk this Platt guy is. SOOO…anyway, as I was saying….I came here to show everyone who the real Nature Boy is but I guess someone stooged it off to Flair that I was coming as he quit the company and fled town literally the day before I arrived here." RPG: "I can't believe what a coward Flair turned out to be…..just disgraceful!" Landel: "Indeed he is…..a lousy stinkin' coward….but since I'm here, as you mentioned I stopped by Gadsden, Alabama on my way here last night to see my buddies the Nightmares, I tried to be cordial and offer Johnny Rich a drink but slipped where some idiot had bled on the floor and accidently had a mishap but the Nightmares won so all's well that ends well." Platt: "That's how you explain busting a beer bottle over the head of Johnny Rich??" Landel: "Well….yeah it sounds better than the way you said it….I don't appreciate the implication there as if it was done on purpose to give my friends the Nightmares an unfair advantage or a cheap victory which I can promise you they certainly don't need my help beating two clowns who call themselves the 'Rat Patrol'…..honestly, what kind of a stupid name is that??" RPG: "Come on Buddy, get to the good part…tell them the other reason you're here." Landel: "Oh yeah, besides coming to run the bogus Nature Boy outta town….which he ended up doing on his own….this Monday I'm entered into the tournament to crown the first Continental Heavyweight Champion." Platt: "Well….the tournament isn't going to crown the champion….the winner of the tournament will face the winner of the Al Madril vs. Mr. Olympia match that will happen tonight…." Landel: "Details…Platt…minor details…the point is…I will be the Continental Champion very, very soon then Verne Gagne and Stu Hart can both stick that in their stupid pipes and smoke it, daddy!" RPG: "Fans, this is your lucky day because you are about to get the opportunity to see the real Nature Boy in action! Go show this chump who the Continental Champion is going to be!" ------------------------------------------------------ MATCH #1: "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel defeated 'Big' Tom Dugan by submission with the figure four leglock ------------------------------------------------------ COMMERCIAL BREAK ------------------------------------------------------ MATCH #2: Alabama Champion Mr. Olympia pinned Mike Hunt with a small package **Post match interview with Joe Pedicino** Joe: "Mr. Olympia, at Beach Brawl in Biloxi, Mississippi you not only defeated Jake 'the Snake' Roberts but you beat him with his own move…the DDT!" Olympia: "That's right Joe and it felt real, real good too! Now I can promise you that so called Snake will crawl back under whatever rock he crawled out from under and it will be a long, long time before we see him show his face around here again!" Joe: "Now with you winning back that Alabama Heavyweight Championship…..tonight you will face off with the Mississippi Heavyweight Champion, Al Madril……Madril has been a handful since arriving here…..are you prepared for whatever he may pull out of his bag of dirty tricks….not to mention this new ally he seems to have in Grappler 2?" Olympia: "Oh believe me Joe Pedicino, my good friend the Wildcat Wendell Cooley has filled me in on just what this Al Madril character is capable of….and I'll be on my toes ready for anything tonight….as far as this Grappler 2 is concerned….I beat Grappler 1 when he passed through here recently so I'm not too worried about Grappler 2 and besides…after Wendell gets his hands on that ol' boy tonight…he won't be in any shape to stick his nose in my business!" ----------------------------------------------------- (VTR- Footage is shown of Don Bass taking on Brickhouse Brown last week where Bobby Bass made his debut costing Brown the match---we then cut to a promo from Bobby & Donnie Bass along with their manager Col. Buck Robley) Robley: "I can only imagine just how excited everyone is that I'm back! I went away for a while but now I've got a tag team that's going to shoot straight to the top of the ranks……the Bass Family will win not only the Southeastern Tag Team Championships but they'll beat those stupid Road Warriors if they get half the chance…..but tonight we've got other fish to fry because this goof Brickhouse Brown says he has a partner……a partner that's dumb enough to wanna face the Bass Family….well, that's just fine and dandy because people were surprised when Bobby showed up…and they were even more surprised when I showed up….well maybe we still have a few more surprises up our sleeve! Bring your partner Brown…..because we aren't sweating over you…or your partner!" (END VTR) Platt: "Ronnie, we'll be hearing from Brickhouse in a little bit and we'll see him and his new partner in action right here in the studio." RPG: "Oh boy…how exciting Charlie….who on earth would wanna team with Outhouse Brown anyway? The person is probably some sort of mental patient or some other sort of nitwit to agree to go into what is a sure fire beating from my good close personal friend Col. Buck Robley's tag team." Platt: "Well you just seem to have all sorts of friends around here all of a sudden." RPG: "I have friends everywhere because I'm a wonderful person….unlike you out here talking down the Nature Boy…..you don't even like Ric Flair so why pick a fight with Buddy?" Platt: "Oh enough with Buddy already…." (All three members of the Rat Patrol- Steve/Scott Armstrong along with Johnny Rich come out to the desk) Johnny: "Charlie, I know you said enough with Landel….but we just wanted to come out and tell the fans that we just got done speaking with Les Thatcher and TONIGHT….not next week…or next month…TONIGHT…all three of us….will be taking on Ken Wayne…..Danny Davis…..AND the so called Nature Boy Buddy Landel in a six man tag team match!" Platt: "Alright! That's great news and another reason to get down to the Houston County Farm Center tonight! We'll hear the whole card here shortly but Scott while you're out here let's show the viewers at home footage of you finally getting the last word on your rival….Larry Hamilton." -------------------------------------- MATCH #3: (From Beach Brawl '84) U.S. Jr Championship Loser Leaves Southeastern for 1 year w/Special Referee: Thunderbolt Patterson Scott Armstrong pinned "Lethal" Larry Hamilton after a super kick -------------------------------------- COMMERCIAL BREAK -------------------------------------- (Joe Pedicino is standing at ringside with Brickhouse Brown) Joe: "Brick, I know you got the opportunity see the interview with Robley and the Bass Family….who is this partner that you've found." Brickhouse: "Joe Pedicino, Buck Robley's old homeless looking tail can talk some real good stuff via videotape out behind the arena last night in Gadsden, Alabama…..but you see he's not here today to say it to my face…..but you see that's typical of Buck Robley and them Bass Boys…..they just like a lettuce…all head and no tail….well Colonel you gotta bring some to get some you understand….so that's why right now I'm bringing out my new partner and you can call us the Soul Patrol, baby…..come out…..KOKO WARE!" (Koko Ware comes out to a nice ovation) Ware: "OHHHH YEAHHH….you right Brickhouse……ol' Buck Robley and his Bassmasters or whatever they call themselves are real tough when they sendin' in a video….but come on down to the Farm Center tonight and we'll show you what the Soul Patrol is all about…and as far as your 'surprises'….I'll just be surprised if yall show up tonight!" MATCH #4: The Soul Patrol (Brickhouse Brown/Koko Ware) defeated Ken Powers/Blue Cyclone when Koko pinned Powers after a dropkick off the top rope ----------------------------------------------- (Joe Pedicino runs down tonight's card in Dothan) Continental Championship Wrestling Houston County Farm Center Dothan, Alabama Saturday July 6, 1984 Bell time: 7:30pm Super Black Ninja w/Mr. Fuji vs. Mike Jackson Special Challenge Match The Soul Patrol (Brown/Ware) vs. The Bass Family (Bobby/Donnie) w/Robley One Man Gang w/Gen. Hayes: "You damn right! We ain't slept since Wednesday and that's just the way we like it! Look at that strap around 'Bam Bam's waist right there….the Southeastern Champion…and ain't nobody takin' that belt away….we ain't got no problem with Bob or any of the Armstrongs but if Bullet Bob thinks he's gonna take that strap then we might just collect that $25,000 bounty we keep hearing about!" Buddy: "Twenty five G's would buy a whole lotta jack…..Jack!" Hayes: "Haha, you got that right Buddy…..but let me take a moment to speak to our Japanese friends…..boys, tonight ain't about the titles….we had those won in Biloxi but Mr. Fuji decided to stick his nose in….so tonight it's violence for the sake of violence you understand? Leave the belts at home…..leave Fuji at home….leave Akbar at home….just bring your green mist spewing faces down to Badstreet tonight and we'll set you straight….then we'll get our belts very, very soon…" Buddy: "Green mist? You think we're worried about you spitting out green mist…..the way we been partying this week….you better be worried about what I'll be spewing in YOUR face…punks!" Joe: "Terry, as the winner of that battle royal last week you slipped Bob Armstrong who technicall as the former champion who never got his rematch with Ric Flair is the #1 Contender and therefor will be getting the shot at the title tonight." Gordy: "Let's just say this…..Bob Armstrong…I ain't got no problem with you right now….but like P.S. said….you come after my belt…then we will have a problem and if I'm gonna whip your butt…then I might as well pick up an extra $25,000 in the process so you just might wanna call this thing off Bob….but that's up to you….right now we've got other business to tend to!" -------------------------------------------------- MATCH #5: The Fabulous Freebirds (Gordy/Hayes/Roberts) defeated Tommy Gilbert/Roy Lee Welch/Luke Wilcox when Gordy pinned Wilcox after a running powerslam --------------------------------------------------- COMMERCIAL BREAK ---------------------------------------------------- (Mississippi Champion Al Madril is stopped by Joe Pedicino on his way to the ring for the main event) Joe: "Al, you have certainly been the center of controversy since coming here….tonight you have the huge winner takes all match against Mr. Olympia, how wise is it to take on the AWA World Light Heavyweight Champion Brad Armstrong here on television in a match where neither title is on the line?" Al: "For most wrestlers this would be crazy….but I'm not most wrestlers….I'm the best wrestler in the entire AWA and I'm going to prove it today by pinning one of their World Champions…then maybe I can get some respect around here because it seems beating Cooley every week isn't getting it done. I haven't gotten any respect anywhere I've gone in the AWA…but that all changes today…first I'll beat Armstrong…..then I'll beat Olympia and win BOTH titles….then I'll beat whoever wins that tournament and become Continental Champion….and then you'll have no choice but to respect me because like I said before….beating Cooley doesn't seem to impress anybody!" Joe: "Well that's more because of the means of victory, rather than who you defeated….but that's another topic for another day….I've been told that next week you will be hosting something called the…..Fiesta Garden? What exactly is that??" Al: "Oh, I'm really excited about that…..with that I'm going to show the world that not only am I the best wrestler in the AWA….but I'm also the best interviewer in the world…..better than Barbara Walters…Johnny Carson…ANYBODY!.....Enough talking to you, fat man….I've got work to do." (Adrian Street comes prancing up) Adrian: "Hello Alvin, I hope you don't mind but I'm going scout my opponent for tonight Brad Armstrong…I came very close to beating him last time and I think tonight I've got it all figured out." Al: "First of all, it's Alberto….not Alvin….and I don't care if you watch the match or not….just stay out of my way…got it?" Adrian: "Oh I like that name…Alberto…so EXOTIC….like me….but don't worry Alberto, I wouldn't dream of getting in the way of a…..Latin Lover, ohhh how exciting." Al: "Back off weirdo…." (Madril proceeds to the ring, while Street and Linda get a chair at ringside) MATCH #6: MAIN EVENT Non-Title Match "Latin Lover" Al Madril pinned Brad Armstrong when Grappler 2 tried to hit the ring but was stopped by Street….Armstrong tried to argue with Street that he didn't need his help but was rolled up from behind by Madril who snuck in the win! (Madril grabs the mic from Platt as the show is about to go off the air) Madril: "Ronnie…I did it….I did it!! I pinned the World Champion….I pinned the World Champion…Olympia….you're next!!!" © 1984 American Wrestling Association CCW Inc. -
Great TV coming off the big show! I like the transition of Eddie Hogan into Brutus Beefcake.....Chic Donovan makes a good third member of this trio with Brutus and Garvin, this will be fun to watch develop. I love the reveal from Bockwinkle/Studd revealing their alliance and fool proof plan to take the title and rid World Class of JYD. Awesome job of coming off a hot show and keeping the momentum going!

HUGE show that really delivered HUGE results! Even though he came up short in the finals you have to believe that Jimmy Garvin is going to get a ton of mileage out of eliminating both Von Erichs from the tournament! Huge win for Brian Adias winning the big battle royal! Even though it's been so well built, I'm sure there were a lot of fans shocked with DJ Peterson defeating Hercules for the TV title, great match! Good finish to get more heat on the Midnights as well as get them out of the title vs. title stip with everyone's belts in tact. Windham is a great choice for Central States champion and I feel like his match with Saito really stood out here for both guys. Fun way to get the belt on Bockwinkle on here....I like it...JYD is super over in this territory and really doesn't need the belt to draw....while Bockwinkle will be able to have some awesome title defenses that will draw huge with Kerry/Kevin/Windham/etc.
