  1. I dont mind Quack getting votes at all because he is not a bad wrestler, just thought 6 is absurd.
  2. No rating because of clipping but just wanted to say I loved this. Heated fans, wild ass bloody brawling. Jarrett and Spot knocking over the railing twice was fun and Jeff angrily hanging Lee in retribution was great.
  3. This was a lot of fun, I hadnt seen this match in a few years but thought it was very good. Both men sold well and we got focused limb work throughout. The fan reactions are always fun on these old shows, there was a kid in the front row that was beside himself at Arn accusing Dustin of pulling his hair. The tease that folks had to wait until next week was classic and the escalating run ins that went into the DQ hampered it a bit but the work was definitely there. ****
  4. I wish this would have gone longer because I did enjoy the match but thought there was a lot of meat left on the bone afterwards. New Japan at the time wasnt into as many long drawn out bouts so just a product of the environment. I love both these guys and thought they both looked good, Fujinami running the ropes is a thing of beauty. Choshu looking non plussed about posing with the belts afterwards got a chuckle out of me. Giant chin sends the crowd home happy by getting on the mic post match. *** 1/4
  5. Starting this set out, going to try and use star ratings for some kind of baseline towards the end although Im not the biggest fan of that kind of rating system. This match was fun, seemed more of a greatest hits by both teams outside of some signature moves not being present. A fun tag match with Muta taking the brunt of damage for his team. Finish was cutesy with Rick looking like a buffoon thinking they won when Alfonso was clearly not facing Rick and Muta. ***
  6. Yeah, Quackenbush at 6 is insane. Makes me wonder if Mike put his own ballot in.
  7. I'm only 22 away from someone on my ballot appearing. You already had Muraco, no? Muraco got cut when Tim reminded me that I forgot Sangre Chicano Boooooooooo!
  8. I'm only 22 away from someone on my ballot appearing. You already had Muraco, no?
  9. Sullivan with a smiling picture looking very non Satanic followed by YAMATO in front of stain glass church style. Beautiful.
  10. Two down for me with Manny Fernandez revealed, though I was neither high or low vote for him. Jimmy Rave picture isnt loading.
  11. Matsunaga was a guy I really wanted to put onto my list but felt it was more of a fandom bias so I didnt. Glad to see he got some love. Dean with the monster Ray Gonzalez ranking.
  12. Love that "Da Birf" is digitally remastered.
  13. My first person listed finally in Rip Rogers, though not the high vote. I love that Bobby Heenan made so many lists, that picture of Mike Awesome is...awesome.
  14. I am definitely going to check out more mini stuff.
  15. Well we see the two votes for Raymond Rougeau really loved the guy.
  16. What a show guys. I love that you stayed positive and delivered such great stuff. DO MORE PODCASTS!
  17. Pedro carried the load here, between Wrestlemania 32 and streaming issues for shows I had time set asid for last weekend I was a bit dejected. Weve got something special lined up next week but check out this week's including kickass review by Pedro of Takeover:Dallas and more. Plus my running SmackDown! diary and more.
  18. Ken Shamrock at a Justin Bieber event. What a time to be alive.
  19. Angel Azteca being identically placed on three ballots is awesome. Big pop for The Barbarian.
  20. Looking forward to listening to this. Always enjoy your guys shows, i know some of Kelly's list from listening to mystery titans theater.
  21. I have a good idea who will be my first vote shown. Lets see what happens.
  22. Early morning reveals and weve got a cast of good workers, funny to see Jimmy Golden and Jinsei Shinzaki going back to back. These reveals are a lot of fun.
  23. A big thing about lucha and really any form of wrestling is context. If you got into a shoot style promotion and expect high flying and total highspots you will be disappointed, if you look at 90s All Japan and think the blurred lines between heel and face is an indictment then you are looking at it wrong. Its not a lazy and tired excuse. Trying to compact wrestling into a strict adherence of rules and regulations is a fools errand. Lucha does have different rules but there are often times that it does delve into your more canonical views of wrestling. Blood feuds that build to apuesta matches will more than likely fit your view of wrestling than others. Undercard spotfests are just as valid and crucial to the type of business theyve built a foundation on. Totally disavowing the style as a whole because of your views of what wrestling should be is short sighted. It is okay to be different and have different tropes. I think blood feuds in lucha is some of the high points of wrestling as both a sport and an art, if you cant get behind losing some of your semblance of structure as a fan that some of it conveys its really not a failure of you as a fan. Thats okay, you want your wrestling a different way. I do think lucha as a whole is a different animal but it is one im okay with personally. I was talking to a buddy about it and made the comment that even shitty lucha i can try and find something good in. Whether its the gimmick, the absurdity, the crowds. Far too much we as fans hold this higher standard that is in a lot of ways unattainable. Enjoy it for what it is. Just as you can accept classic WWWF for their horrid undercards and paint by numbers main event match structure, or late 80s Crockett for fuck finishes. Accept that there is a building block in place for lucha and I guarantee you will find things that you enjoy. Myself, im still what id consider a novice despite seeing hundreds and hundreds of hours of footage of it over time. Wrestling fandom is some of the most OCD there is, I have so many blind spots of the style but I do have a passion to learn more and see more. Whether its blinders or not, I think its wrong to dismiss it as a style based on your usual views of wrestling. Its different and thats what makes it awesome.
  24. In honor of B-Boy being the highest ranked person with one vote. Everyone put their fists to the side and bounce them at the top of your head in tribute.
  25. Drew Gulak, male model. I hope there is old duct tape around that little monkeys right foot in honor.
