NWA Lutte Internationale TV Taped at CHLT-TV Studios, Sherbrooke, QC Broadcasted December 21st, 1985 -The broadcast team welcomes us to the last stop before Starrcade as in the feature bout this week, Alexis Smirnoff will go head-to-head with The Masked Playboy. They hype how Billy Robinson has been looking to unmask the masked grappler as Buddy Rose but has been unsuccessful so far. This week might be when it happens -In this week's opening match, a rare event: Floyd Creatchman steps into the ring as a wrestler as he teams with the regular Creatchman Family: Prince Alofa Fatu, The Great Samu & the NWA World Tag Team Champions Botswana Beast & Lord Humongous. Their opposition: enhancement talents known as Melville Street, Irvin Faulkner, Cade Edgar, Dillon Yong & Tim Scriven. Needless to say that the poor jobbers don't stand a chance in this one and Floyd Creatchman only stepped into the ring to make the cover on Irvin Faulkner after stereo top rope splashes by Fatu & Samu. -After the match, The Creatchman Family is headed to the broadcast booth for a promo. Floyd feels supremely confident that his father will lead Botswana Beast & Lord Humongous to a successful title defense against the Andersons at Starrcade. Floyd says that while the Andersons are a solid tag team, they have never faced a more destructive team than Botswana Beast & Lord Humongous. They will show the world why they are the top family in the world. And as for Samu & Fatu's open challenge, Floyd says he's heard that some duo in WWC have accepted their challenge. He doesn't know who it is yet but he knows that they will come out victorious, just like the Beast & Humongous. -Up next, we see Chris Benoit in action against one half of the Midnight Rockers. The broadcast team hypes tomorrow night's tournament in Oklahoma city where Benoit will try to become the first NWA World Lightweight Champion, along with several other NWA superstars while Marty Jannetty is still preparing for the Rockers' title match against the Vachons & AWA Southern Tag Team Champions Badd Company. The broadcast team wonders if this has thrown off the Rockers a bit because they haven't been the same since the announcement. A very fast-paced match in which we can see Benoit gaining a lot of confidence in his abilities, matching Jannetty move for move. After Jannetty misses a diving fist drop, Benoit is able to connect with the flying headbutt to collect the win at the 15-minute mark! Another momentum booster for Benoit heading into the OKC tournament tomorrow! -It's already main event time as Alexis Smirnoff is ready to take on The Masked Playboy. Unsurprisingly, Billy Robinson & Sherri Martel make their way at commentary for the match. Although Sherri seems to be quite smitten by The Masked Playboy, which doesn't seem to please Robinson at all. A much different pace than the previous match; a more slow, deliberate and stiff encounter. Towards, the end of the match, Sherri approaches the ring and starts flirting with the Masked Playboy. Robinson gets up as well and leaves the broadcast booth. The Masked Playboy eventually leaves the ring to step outside and confront Robinson. Sherri climbs on the ring apron, calling for both men to stop arguing. Smirnoff then takes charge at the apron and knocks Sherri off it....and she falls into the arms of the Playboy! Everyone looks at each other, confused, and both Playboy and Robinson start fighting until referee Luigi Macera comes out from the back to separate both wrestlers, along with current referee Adrien Desbois. As confusion runs amok outside, Alexis Smirnoff grabs Sherri's loaded purse and attempts to hit The Playboy with it but he is countered and Buddy hits Smirnoff with the purse! Referee returns in time to make the pinfall and give the victory to The Masked Playboy as Billy Robinson is seething, once again unable to prove the Masked Playboy was Buddy Rose. But was it Buddy Rose? Or just someone else to mess with the minds of the Sensationals? We might find out on Christmas Night! À LA SEMAINE PROCHAINE SI DIEU LE VEUT!

Well, usually the last couple of shows before the New Year are uneventful. I'm expecting things to pick up around January 8 when the Holidays will be over.

Better late than never!
-
I totally didn't make the connection until gordi wrote the chorus to the song!
-
No problem, just edited it

SuperClash 85 has to be the most significant card in AWA history! DRAMATIC roster shift in store right around 1986!
-
I've added your other dates!
-
Oh, OK then, no problem.
-
I love how everything is slowly unraveling around the Hart Foundation ever since the Fabulous Ones became Jimmy Hart's favorite new tag team. This is gonna make for an epic showdown down the road.
-
So to pick a rookie free agent, we need to drop someone of our roster automatically? (Just making sure I'm understanding correctly)

I personally have zero problems with how rain has done with the AWA. I like how it is very different from the RL AWA. Rain keeps us on our toes with every show he does. Everything he does happens for a reason. Everything is well thought of. Besides, none of us joined this Project to recreate EXACTLY what those territories were in 1983. We all try to keep a sense of authenticity with what was true to those territories while we're all adding a bit of our creativity to it. If anything, we're all guilty of stretching reality. But this is what makes it fun. It's a project with which "What ifs?" are strongly encouraged.

Oh yeah, for sure. Abdullah vs Brody in Puerto Rico is just perfect!
-
You're good.
-
See, you've already found your stride and you look really comfortable in that format. Another solid show and I think Piper vs Jimmy will be my favorite match coming out of the Greensboro portion of Starrcade!

Lutte Internationale News -Everything is set in stone for Starrcade on Christmas Night as both Mid-Atlantic & Lutte Internationale have unveiled their portions of the megacard in both Quebec City & Greensboro. While the big match between Rick Martel & Ric Flair to unify the WCCW & NWA World Heavyweight titles will take placein Quebec City, Greensboro will have a very solid feature match in Magnum TA vs Tully Blanchard inside the cage for the NWA US Heavyweight Championship. Given all the efforts undertaken by Frank Valois and Lutte Internationale to promote the Martel vs Flair showdown, it was agreed upon by the NWA Board of Directors to have the main event take place in Quebec City rather than Greensboro. Originally, the NWA Canadian International Heavyweight Championship match inside a cage between Jacques Rougeau and champion Black Bart was supposed to headline the Quebec City card but it has now been relegated to the semi-main event slot. -The NWA Canadian International TV Championship situation has been in limbo for a few months now because of Super Strong Machine's visa issues that have kept him from defending the title in Lutte. In fact, he was scheduled to defend the title at Starrcade but with the paperwork not being finalized in time, it has been pushed back to the first weekend of January 1986 before we can see him in action. Lutte officials have tried to arrange for him to drop the title on December 27 in another card at the Colisée in Quebec City but he won't be able to make it. Super Strong Machine has assured Lutte management that everything will be cleared on January 1st and he'll be able to come back to the territory to drop the title. The next champion has already been determined by the booking committee and from what we know, it is definitely something that no one will see coming. -There is a lot of excitement within the National Wrestling Alliance with the recent addition of World Class Championship Wrestling and World Wrestling Council and we can expect lots of movement within the NWA for all the territories involved to catch all of their top talents throughout 1986. Frank Valois is already making arrangements for top talents from World Class to come work some loops every month. The only name confirmed thus far is Big John Studd for the first weekend of action of 1986 but you can expect many more WCCW talents to appear on Lutte events along with MACW & WWC athletes. -Speaking of WWC, with the arrival of the Hart Brothers to Lutte territory, after discussions with him, it has been decided that Owen Hart will spend a few months in Puerto Rico to hone his skills and to work with the top talents in WWC as well. Lutte sees major star potential in Owen Hart and they feel like having him work with the likes of Carlos Colon, Chicky Starr & Al Madril will help him reach the status Lutte wants him to reach. For now, Owen will be defending the NWA World 6-Men Tag Titles with his brothers Bruce & Keith at Starrcade against the Kiwi Sheepherders & Bam Bam Bigelow -Finally, Eddy "The Brain" Creatchman has been experiencing a few health problems recently, which will cause for Lutte to reduce his schedule a bit to recover. It's in part why his son Floyd was brought in as another manager to second his father and to pick up his load. However, with Sherri Martel soon transitioning to full-time wrestling in the NWA Women's division, expect newcomer Paul Heyman, who will go by the name of Paul E. Dangerously to be featured in a managerial role in early 1986.

Whatever we can do to help. It's a bit of a bummer though that in both 1983 Project & 1995 Project, the Japan rosters didn't last for various reasons. I'm sure that you're gonna do a great job independently.

IRL, Martel and Flair actually had a unification title match in 1985 at the Colisée when Rick Martel was AWA Champion and Ric Flair NWA World Champion. I may be wrong but it might have been the biggest gate in Lutte Internationale history. And as far as I know, right now, Black Bart is flying solo to Quebec City for his title defense but nothing says it won't change before Christmas Night.

Nice! Looking forward to it!

Well, when you work with someone like Rick Martel, it can be achieved!
