I can say for sure that it's not worse than The Best Pure Striker in WWE
-
He's thankfully stayed out of Lawler territory with that stuff. I think he knows what lines not to cross. Lawler turning into a legit creepy old man during the Attitude Era really killed whatever goodwill I had left for him in that role. Don't know my dudes, he's actively bad for me when he does that pervy stuff. I always envision those old school cartoon wolves whistling and drooling and it's somewhat creepy.

Yeah, that extended resthold segment was not the best idea. It's even worse when you consider how perfect the first 90 seconds of this match were. It really seems that two different people agented this match.
-
Fucking hell, Hayes. What were you thinking?
-
While Almas and Gargano had the higher end stuff this year, I would have to go with Seth or Miz due to the sheer volume of great stuff they amassed so far in 2018.

Some of this Cass hate is really disproportionate. Y'all talking like he beat our boy Bryan in 16 seconds when he lost clean and had a good little match - even if he was being led by the hand, there's nothing really wrong. He fucked up from a hierarchical standpoint, but I think his beatdown added to the segment, as he was getting some "asshole" chants and whatnot. That's exactly the reaction you want to get from the crowd, and I'm not so sure that happens only with the Big Boot. Also another thing we should talk about, and that is much more important, is that WWE micromanages the shit out of their talent. If one can't deviate from the script even if enhances the original purpose of the forementioned script, why even bother with creativity? I get that they want to play it safe, but in terms of actual creative control, only a select few get that luxury, it seems.

I dunno guys but Corey fapping on live television to Mandy Rose is some really sleazy shit
-
I am a Mojo fan for sure. He has the intensity you need for basically any type of role you could ask of him - he was good as this hyper jock, and now he's even better as this cold, chilling blood knight. His in-ring is also good, considering how much focus he's had in the past few years and how much of his push was sort of derailed by Ryder's bad luck.
-
They made sure to mention, since the GRR, that he was getting banged up from the matches he was having. They also pointed out how fucked up he was from the match against Cass. From a storytelling perspective, it made sense for him to lose. It's better to lose clean right now than in a bigger moment with huge buildup and no payoff.

Holy shit, Rusev did it!
-
Becky is the anti Charlotte. Puts everyone over and is absurdly charismatic and a terrific babyface.
-
Mandy Rose's new entrance rocks.
-
At least the match was alright despite the obvious outcome. There's not another act that I dislike more than face Charlotte. It's rivalling Natalya at this point for me, no joke.
-
It's so nice to see how Hardy makes people care about even the smallest of things. Nothing happened in this match so far but the crowd is 100% into it
-
Charlotte vs Peyton Royce. It'll be a miracle if Royce goes over tonight.
-
Considering he's the only thing people care to talk about in most circles, and they are still making tons of money, maybe they don't care as much as we do?

[2018-05-06-WWE-Backlash] Nia Jax vs Alexa Bliss
KawadaSmile replied to Superstar Sleeze's topic in May 2018
I get that the build was effective to paint her as this sort of asshole "victim", but maybe the skits were too well done? I don't know, like someone else said on the live thread, those Moments of Bliss were so well done that you could forget that she was a bully and she had a point. They actually had people cheering for Alexa, which is so weird. The build itself was great and it did have the heel/face dynamics, but it didn't carry over to the actual match, methinks. -

This was good, but I think it was hurt by the build. Alexa's not really being so heelish here as she was on WM, and as such the only thing that really is apparent in this match is the obvious size difference, and that makes Bliss the underdog by default. Would benefit more from clearer face/heel dynamics, but it was fun. Nasty bumps by Nia, my God. -
I'd actually say it's a triple whammy because I feel like his original heel turn that broke up the Shield is a candidate for this discussion as well. Possible too. It's even worse because it had no reason to happen, since they beat Evolution twice in two gigantic matches, so what reason Seth had to turn on them? It led to an awful title reign, too.
-
What are your thoughts on Ruby Riot, everyone? To me she was the glue to that very good triple threat, and she is probably the best wrestler in the Women's Division right now (Asuka is lost in the shuffle at the moment). The way Cole and Graves describe her character on commentary, it would make it so easy to portray her as a face... she can be a megastar, to me.

His TNA stint reached its apex when he was Lashley the Destroyer and had all the belts. Was very good as a heel
-
Too early to say that they blew it, though. I actually liked that interview because it was just so bizarre. It's far from the ideal, but it's most than people got and I actually find Lashley's soft spoken persona to be interesting. I don't think it really makes for a pro wrestling character, but he sounds like a nice guy and sometimes that's all you need. Also, gotta love that if not for his demeanor, Jinder is this close to being the face in the feud against Roman. Pointing out (rightfully so) that Roman is getting chance after chance after chance and being dismissed by Kurt really makes him stand out as the rational one in the situation. Something I find rather positive about the whole Reigns situation is that, unlike Cena, turning him heel wouldn't be catastrophical for business. Big Match John was the #1 guy in pretty much every possible metric by a long shot during his ace period, and a turn would kill much of the money they made. With Reigns it's a little bit different because although he is the top merch seller, I believe they have more of a "safety net" now, with acts like Rollins, New Day, Strowman and Bayley, for instance. It is way more possible that they pull this turn now than it ever was with Cena.
-
Crazy how good the matches were on this show. The main event was a wild ride and they finally did something different.
-
Like him or not, Jinder's choice of colors is unparalleled
-
That match rocked but some losers instead wanted to chant for something else.
